A beautiful villa for an unforgettable getaway. The drive from the Main Street up to the villa is a bit tricky, but totally worth it once you get there. Fresh fish delivered to your door by Jango is a priceless treat!

This property was absolutely perfect for our stay. We loved the tranquility and all of the birds and wildlife. The kids spent hours in the pool, and we could easily drive down to the beautiful beach at Englishmens Bay for a swim in the ocean or a delicious lunch. Jango was very helpful - meeting us at the airport and helping to guide us to the house in the dark (with a stop at the grocery store). He got us fresh fish, and even picked some limes and herbs so we could add to the flavour when cooking. He arranged a bird watching outing with Darlington for my brother, who came back having seen lots of birds, as well as info on local history. The gardens around the property that he maintains are beautiful. I couldn’t recommend this place more. I hope we make it back someday.

We had a fabulous time staying in this beautiful villa in the jungle.It has a wonderful setting ,exotic plants & fruit trees,tropical birds & sea views.We all loved staying here......three generations with 4 children.The villa is very well equipped with everything you need.You have the lovely sweet Glynnis who comes & cleans & changes sheets & towels twice a week.Jango who looks after the pool & the beautiful gardens.He is very knowledgeable on the plants & flowers & we had lovely conversations with him.They are both so friendly & were very helpful to us.You also have the lovely Adam,the house Manager,a Brit who lives nearby in Castara.He will sort out anything you need.It is just a lovely lovely villa, a perfect spot near beautiful beaches & Castara fishing village.There are lovely local bars & restaurants & supermarket in Castara.We just had the most amazing time celebrating Xmas , New Year & my special Birthday. We are all planning to return .

The Villa exceeded our expectations by far. Well-maintained, clean and in every corner of the house, you can feel the owners touch they gave to this place. In other words, it was just OUR HOME for two weeks. Internet and TV worked well and the Sound System was fabulous. And we met three of the nicest people, you'd ever want to know. Jango, responsible for the beautiful garden, is always in reach if you have a question. Glynnis does the cleaning twice a week and she does it in a perfect manner. Adam is the general house manager, very kind and helpful in every situation. We rented a Suzuki Jimny from Taylor's Car Rental in Castara. Great car, perfect service and very nice people! Tobago is still the unspoiled carribean island we visited in 1988. We love it and so will you, for sure!

We truly enjoyed our time spent at the villa. It was comfortable and accommodating for my family which included my infant granddaughter and my 87 year old mother who is wheelchair dependant. The garden is absolutely gorgeous and well kept up - kudos to Jango although we did not meet him we knew he was there with us overnight. Adam was very helpful and generally made us feel assured that he was always available but this was not at all necessary during our stay. We found Glenys to be very sweet and friendly, she made us feel at home. Will definitely recommend this beautiful villa and stay again.

The loction firstly is so serene that i would make even the most concrete jungle oriented human fall in love and become a nature lover the house manager is absolutely heartwarming and would make you feel right at home instantaneously the price is absolutely worth it would recommend here to every family couple and newly weds because to me i found home away from home 😌

The villa was gorgeous and was everything we wanted in a vacation spot! Friendly note, the beach is not a 10 minute walk away. Please don’t tell people this. It’s more like a 30 min hike through a roller coaster road in the mountains. It was a bit difficult, especially for the little ones. But overall this place was heaven for the four nights we were there. Will definitely return for another visit to Tanager Ridge!!

I’d highly recommend this property for a family or group of friends. It’s away from it all so there are no noises except for maybe some frogs and streams. The house has a wonderful layout perfect for relaxing with all the amenities of home. All of the bedrooms are private and comfortable. There are several common areas and the garden is absolutely beautiful! We found the house to be very well-appointed...there was cable tv, internet, board games, snorkeling gear, plush towels and extra linens, a well equipped kitchen and bar, laundry, etc. Englishman’s Bay is a 5 minute drive from the house and is absolutely gorgeous with good snorkeling. We found the caretaker, Jango, to be very accommodating. He’s a bit shy at first but he’s very sweet and you can see how hard he works to keep up the property. The same is true for Glenys, the cleaning lady:) The house is in the “county” about an hour drive from the airport so I would definitely recommend an escort to the house upon arrival which can be arranged by the homeowner. If you rent a car we had a great experience with Rattan’s Car Rental Service. Earlier reviews mentioned a lack of lighting around the pool but we found it sufficient and ambient. We had no issues with plumbing and the kitchen is amply stocked. I honestly can’t think of one thing we needed and didn’t have. Great place to get away and make great memories!

My wife and I chose this property for our honeymoon stay. We were not at all disappointed. The setting was simply beautiful. It is quite private, the pool was gorgeous; almost every day we had fresh grapefruits grown there on the property. Adam was simply wonderful when it came to accommodating us and making sure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. If you are looking for a secluded getaway spot where you can lounge the day away we give this property 5 stars out of 5! Will definitely recommend!

The villa states sleep ten with 5 bedroom but only sleep 8 as one of the little guest houses not ready . The cleaner came once a week not 3 times a week as it states only changed the bedding after 10 days towels not changed at all.cooker ring rusty and tilted rings when a pan put on very dangerous , only 3 bowls available for breakfast so could not all sit down together. Water pump kept playing up resulting in no water sometimes had to use a bucket to get water from pool so people could use the toilet. Mosquito nets that was been put had rusty marks on. Some lighting around the house did not work at all, we had to ask the house manager to clean the pool when we arrived as it was dirty .we informed the owner that they would be 10 people staying and with the other house not available my father in law who is 70 plus visited from Trinidad and had to sleep on the sofa which was broken.the house manager / gardener spent most of his time down in a bar and only started doing jobs the last few days saying have to get it sorted big boss man coming.

This was our second visit to Tobago and Tanager Ridge villa. The property is as delightful as we remembered it -- the perfect balance of seclusion, luxury, and easy access to lots of activities. The house is extremely spacious, very well laid out, and comfortable throughout. The three bedrooms inside the main house are well spaced, and can easily accommodate a large party without sacrificing privacy. (In addition to this, there is a separate cottage.) The floor plan opens up naturally to the outdoors, where we enjoyed all our meals and BBQ-ed nightly. The pool is a great alternative to the beach and is surrounded by a large deck where you can relax and/or kids can play. If you are looking for a vacation that combines seclusion, with easy access to authentic Tobago, the location of Tanager Ridge villa cannot be beat. First, you are surrounded by pristine rainforest (i.e. no immediate neighbors are visible). Second, you are less than ten minutes away from Castara, which fronts a delightful beach and offers a few places to grab a bite (try Cheno's for breakfast). Third, the location allows easy access to some of the best activities Tobago has to offer (e.g. enjoy the island's best beaches at Castara and Englishman's Bay - less than 10 minutes away, buy fresh fish at Parlatuvier dock ~3:30pm daily - 15 minutes away, go for a birding/rainforest hike in Main Ridge Forest Preserve with guide Newton George - 30 minutes away, dive at Speyside - 1 hour away). We had an amazing time at Tanager Ridge, and look forward to returning in the future!

Hello Jall, we had a wonderful time at Tanager Ridge. It was the same Caribbean from my youth (I spent all my vacations in the Caribbean islands from 1975 to 1984 when the « public » started changing for worse…). The house was exactly what we wanted (we swam naked a lot in the pool :-) and the beaches below are just to die for, in particular Englishman’s Bay of course. The team (Adam checking on us every time it rained, Django and Gladys) is very professional and you are lucky to have them I guess. The house is alive, with all amenities one could dream of for a rental. You can feel you have been invited by it's owner and this is a wonderful feeling.

Our second visit to the island but first to this villa, Tanager Ridge was the ideal location to unwind and retreat from the stresses of modern life. In a beautiful location within the rain forest but within easy reach of the stunning beach at Englishman's Bay we completely relaxed here. Whether you stay at the villa and enjoy the large pool and well stocked gardens, watch the amazing bird-life or venture out to explore the island you are sure to enjoy your stay here. Tanager Ridge is the perfect base on this charming island of Tobago. The local team are available at any time and do everything they can to help you make the most of your stay whilst also giving you the space to escape from all human contact if that what you want. We loved t it here and would love to come back again in the future.

The villa was a perfect getaway after our marriage a few days earlier, also in Tobago. Isolated and tranquil and surrounded by the rain forest. Such a contrast to our time the coast. It was spacious, had all the facilities you could need and a well maintained pool. Continual visits from all sorts of birds and constantly changing rain forest views make you feel you are in the middle of a nature reserve. Which you are! Would love to go back.

I have often been to Tobago, but this is the first time I stayed at Tanager Ridge. It was the beginning of the rainy season and the whole island sighed with the rain’s arrival. Tanager Ridge is an amazing retreat into the rain forest, surrounded by colorful flowers and stunning tropical plantings. We basked in the peace and quiet, broken only be the songs of an incredible range of visiting birds. The house is very comfortable, well laid-out, with lovely bedrooms, perfect clean bathrooms, a fine dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen. The service was delightful, thoughtful and thorough. We spent most of our time on the spacious patio, surrounding the large pool, complete with bar and barbeque. Tanager Ridge is a perfect retreat, well suited to families with children: Our nine-year-old granddaughter didn’t miss a day of swimming! I would recommend Tanager Ridge highly, for a wonderful taste of natural Tobago. Susie Burnett

Such a lovely house and beautiful gardens. Listening to all the different birds during the day and star gazing at night was so relaxing. Fisherman's Bay is just a few minutes away and I personally think the best bay on Tobago. We enjoyed the house, pool and gardens so much, it has all you need for a truly perfect holiday. We were here for a week and so wished it had been for longer. Jango and Glenys are an asset, they are so very helpful. We had a fabulous time. Thank you.
