Beautiful farm cottage, spotless throughout.
Nice touches such as milk, eggs and home baking on arrival. Amanda and her family gave us a tour of the farm too, this was very enjoyable, loved seeing the lambs and calves. Comfortable beds, lots of family games, an open fire, garden seating. We would highly recommend and would certainly stay again.
We very much enjoyed our stay.

Bink's Cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Amanda was a superb, friendly host and we were delighted to be welcomed by the smell of baking bread and all the food basics she provided. Our grandson loved the chocolate buns!
We visited Locomotion, Beamish and Seaham beach during our stay, finding the cottage was an excellent base for our trips out. Isaac was thrilled to see all the sheep being run through the farmyard one morning. We have no hesitation in recommending Bink's Cottage!

My husband, my sister and my niece spent 5 wonderful days and nights at this property. It is beautiful, well appointed, quiet and excellently situated for days out in the Penines, the Yorkshire dales and moors, County Durham and the Northumberland coast. Our host was on hand to answer any questions, or to advise us on where to visit or eat. It is off the beaten track, and that is one of it's best features. The rooms are comfortable, the kitchen completely equipped and the bathroom, modern and bright. Any of us would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Thank you to Amanda and Tom for welcoming us so well. The cottage is near a beautiful farm and on a village green with a picturesque church. We stayed during lambing season and it was lovely to see all the lambs being born. The beautiful North Pennines are awaiting on your door step with so many walks and areas of beauty to explore.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable; the owner welcoming and helpful - we arrived to bread, scones, and eggs: butter and milk in the fridge. There is a good array of herbs & spices.
It is utterly peaceful. The only sounds were the birds and the sheep. The small front garden is perfect for sitting outside to read or to eat - right next to the church in this tiny village that looks like it hasn't changed in a couple of hundred years.

Binks Cottage June 22
The property is in the centre of a small quiet village next to the Church and is part of the buildings of a working farm . The facilities are very good and a minor problem with the boiler was rapidly resolved. Good contact with the obliging managers.
An excellent holiday venue in open countryside.

We are from South Somerset and it was our first time in the North East. On advice from friends packed wellies, waterproofs, jumpers in abundance but the sun shone the whole week. I know probably luck but it made for a wonderful week of exploring the area. The cottage was lovely. The smell of baking bread in the kitchen when we arrived along with all the other delicious gifts were welcoming. Amanda met us and answered any questions and we settled in. There was nothing we needed as everything was on hand.We were out every day and visited Hadrian's Wall, High Force, The Angel, Beamish - we even gatecrashed a Christening in Durham Cathedral on Sunday which was lovely. All in all we can recommend this as a great place to base yourself for the area with such a cosy cottage to come back to. Regret? Yes there has to be one in every holiday doesn't there. It wasn't cold enough to light the fire.

Fabulous well appointed cottage
I had a wonderful stay in Binks Cottage. The cottage is deceptively spacious with a pretty front garden in one of the nicest villages in Co. Durham. Amanda and her family are friendly, helpful and very welcoming.
The cottage is beautifully appointed with a large kitchen-diner complete with everything you could possibly need, including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and tea towel. What a joy not to have to bring this sort of thing.
Upstairs the bathroom is lovely with a good shower and acres of white fluffy towels as well as dressing gowns. The bedrooms are large and well furnished with lovely white cotton bedding.
Thornley is well placed for visiting Durham city and all the county has to offer and is only 30 minutes from Hadrian's Wall.
I can't recommend the cottage highly enough and I'd love to stay there again.

The cottage is brilliantly appointed and very comfortable, set in a lovely quiet village.
Our host Amanda couldn't have been more welcoming and we enjoyed delicious cakes, home baked bread and fresh eggs on our arrival. There are some stunning walks in the surrounding country and we thoroughly enjoyed our days out in Durham and visiting Hadrian's Wall, Corbridge and Hexham. We couldn't recommend Bink's Cottage more.

Cosy cottage on the farm
The cottage is on a farm in a tiny village at the end of a no through road. Nothing to disturb you except the sound of sheep bleating, cows mooing, cocks crowing.....It was delightful in some glorious spring weather. Inside, the cottage is warm and well equipped and we appreciated the welcome pack of food Amanda provided. The shower was brilliant and good quality bed linen and towels. The owners were friendly and informative but didn't intrude. In the information we enjoyed the month by month description of what is going on on the farms that they had taken the trouble to write.

Lovely cottage in a picturesque location
Relaxing, comfortable and such a beautiful cottage, fitted out to a high standard, with luxurious towels and everything you could possibly need. Fresh bread, scones, butter, jam. eggs and milk awaited us.
The setting is quiet but close to the historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral. The Durham Dales with wonderful scenery. The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle. There is so much to see.
Perfect cottage and perfect host!

Ideal cosy retreat!
Despite the weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Amanda made us feel very welcome and the cottage didn't feel like self catering with the freshly made bread and scones upon arrival, bathrobes and roaring fire. We will definitely be back! It's a great bolthole for nearby Hamsterley Park and Durham.

A beautifully kept and well appointed holiday cottage.
This is a super holiday rental for those wanting to explore the North Pennines and/or northern cities such as Durham and Newcastle, which are within easy reach by car. We were extremely well provided for upon arrival and had everything we needed for our baby - cot, blankets, bath tub - as well as thoughtful extras for ourselves. Would highly recommend.
