location was good in the centre of Peso da Régua, just in front of the river and near restaurants

We were doing a road trip and booking accommodation on the go,and we didn’t have any problems until Casa do Rio. On the day, we booked Caso do Rio around 6pm as we were heading to the location. After booking, we received a text from them asking for arrival times, which we advised it would be around 20:15. We were then advised we would have to pay extra 10€ for late check in. We politely text them back advising we were on our way and would be there only 15 min after 20h (according to them, booking.com charges 10€ for check in after 20h… whatttt????). When we questioned them about this “new” policy, Ana sent us a very rude text saying “it is the booking.com policy and if we didn’t pay she would take the situation to the authorities”. She used booking.com as an excuse, but they don’t charge these kind of extra fees. We then found that this was a Casa do Rio policy and it was under their own “Policies” (that takes a few clicks for you to find that information). The problem was never to pay extra 10€, but the fact that there was no transparency in the information provided, they used a third party to justify their own policy to charge extra and how rude Ana was by avoiding our questions and threatening us (even when we told her we were happy to pay as long as she could direct us to that policy). My girlfriend is Portuguese and it’s my first time in Portugal. I’m fortunately that in 3 weeks this was my only bad customer experience. also, for the price they charge, you can find a better place (without noise coming from the living room) and with a private bathroom.

Good place if you are looking for 1-2 nights stay being on more affordable side. Providing all necessary basics, with just enough comfort to recharge for next day. Sidenote: if you choose economy room with private bathroom those nice views on the Douro river will be accessible form the common area only but those are better enjoyed outside anyway :)

amazing view from the room

This place is on the main road across from the boats. A temporary fair (with rides, etc.) was an enjoyable experience at night. The location allowed me to take side trips - Pinhao (train) and Lamego (bus). At the end of my stay, I was able to take one of the few buses from Regua to Lisbon. The staff was polite and met me on time for the key exchange.

My room was basic with the only window being a hatch style from the roof.

The location is perfect near the train station, the room is spacious, comfortable, cool thanks to the A/C and the private bathroom was clean. Carlos is really sweet and owns a small family Quinta (Quinta do Posada) so don't hesitate to book with him or ask him about it before your stay. It's really worth the price. There's no reception so you have to plan your arrival to have access to the room.

Host communication was poor, aircon unit ineffective and room uncomfortably warm. Toilet broken and shower cubical leaked. Attic room with just a small skylight.

Great location, in the city center, by the river. Easy to find with GPS. The bathrooom is in the room so intimate.

We got lost with all the pictures of the other bedrooms, and expected a nice view but we got no proper view as the window is in the roof. We spent a night while it was 30º outside, and it was a oven inside. It's not really posible to sleep with the AC as it's noisy, so it was complicated to sleep. The wifi is pretty bad too. A smile from the host wouldn't be too bad either... :) And also, we paid 70€/night, with no access to the kitchen, pretty expensive to just sleep there...

Great location. Our room had a great view of the river and was big and bright. The shared bathroom is only shared with one other room and was really clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We went to their other property, Quinta Da Pousada, for the day where we; had a port tasting, had a 3 course lunch with wines, used the pool and went for a walk in the vineyards. The host Carlos was awesome. I recommend both properties.
