In the house all the comfort is available. Good service and quick communication with owners.
Only discomfort is the distance to the skislopes.

Wonderful Chalet
We booked the chalet for a weeks Easter skiing and were delighted on all fronts. A wonderful property all very well laid out with a fantastic all round entertainment area on the top floor. We drove to the les Arc funicular to access some really good snow in the upper levels and it proved a really easy process as we were able to park alongside the platform. The beauty of the chalet was also the fact that it is in a genuine rural farming community and we were also able to take in some stunning walks.

Charming holiday in Chalet Tarine!
Chalet Tarine apsistojome slidinėjimo atostogų metu.
Labai nudžiugome, kai įėję apžiūrėjome namą. Jame buvo labai šilta, bendra atmosfera labai jauki.
Namas didelis ir puikiai įrengtas. Vyrauja žavus autentiškas interjeras, jautiesi visai kaip namie. Čia yra viskas ko reikia: penki atskiri miegamieji, keturi vonios kambariai, pilnai įrengta virtuvė su indais, puodais ir visais įmanomais įrenginiais. Puikūs vaizdai iš terasų. Namas tvarkingas ir prižiūrėtas.
Savininkas labai malonus žmogus, suteikė visą reikalingą informaciją, patarė įvairiais klausimais.
Puiki vieta apsistoti atostogoms!

We stayed in Chalet Tarine during our ski holidays.
We were really excited when we first came into the chalet. It was very warm and cosy inside.
The chalet is huge and decorated in a very nice authentic style. The overall feeling is just like home. The house has everything you might need: five separate bedrooms, four bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, amazing seating area and marvellous view from terraces.
Beside all that, the owner was very helpful and provided us with all the information that might be needed.
I highly recommend this place!

amazing chalet with incredible views
we had a fantastic honeymoon, the chalet was amazing with an incredible interior so much time must have been spent on all the decor. The views are brilliant you could see right across the valley to the vanois express. We wanted a very active holiday and the chalet is really well placed to get to all the activities we wanted to do like Downhill mountain biking, Canyoning, and climbing and my personal favorite which was the Hydro boarding on the river Isere from bourg down to aime. We had a great time, it really is a special place!

Prekrasna ku?a i najbolje skijanje u Europi!

Beautiful Chalet!
Beautiful Chalet, extremely comfortable and lovely lay out. Suitable for groups and families. The location was great because we were able to chose different ski areas everyday. In our case Les Arcs followed by Rosiere etc...

Wunderschönes Chalet
Tolle Ambiente!

A recommander

Perfect stay for cyclists
Perfect renovated farm in a small village near to Bourg St Maurice. Large kitchen and living and at least 7 sleepingrooms with bathroom. We stayed with a group of cyclers and climbed at La Plagne, Les Arcs, Petit St Bernard, Roselend and each day 6 km climb to the chalet. A sportive challenge.

Great Bnb Chaelet near Bourg St. Maurice
Our stay at Tom's chalet near Bourg Saint Maurice was just great. His chalet was beautifully decorated and furnished. We met his very friendly neighbors and really enjoyed the local ambiance. The area in summer is hiking and bike paradise. Can't say enough good things about our stay here.

Just a great holiday!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Chalet Tarine. It is a big Chalet, very comfortable, renovated in the respect of the Alps's spirit. The view is amazing from the cosy living room. We recommend this place to anyone who want an efficient rest.

Can't wait to return :)
We had an incredible stay, couldn't recommend Tom's chalet more. We visited at the last weekend of the ski season, so were blessed with hot sun and heavy snow during our one week stay! The chalet is located up on the hill, in a group of other farm houses, a ten minute windy road from the town - stock up on food supplies before you get there (we didn't, and after a long drive were too tired to head out. oops!) Tom was a fantastic host, despite us not actually meeting him, and got back to us quickly when we arrived and had a question. The chalet itself is INCREDIBLE. Very spacious, finished to a high standard, warm, plenty of things to keep children occupied (also with a cot and high chair). Really can not say enough positive things here. Can't wait to return :)

Very charming and comfortable
This is the best renovated and furnished chalet I have been to. Very charming, comfortable and allowing privacy to a large group. Tom was extremely responsive and helpful with all our questions. The location is great, and we hope to be back end of the summer for hiking.

Great cycling in Les Echines!
In late June a great week in Les Echines. Maison Wontner truly is a wonderful house with all the luxury you could wish for. Situated on a hillside in a quiet small village. From the living room and bedrooms you have wonderful views over the valley of Bourg Saint Maurice.
For five days we had great day cycling trips. A really mecca for cyclists. The villa is centrally located and from there you can climb at least six beautiful cols. The Petit Saint Bernard, La Plagne, the Cormet de Roseland, Arc2000, Col de la Madelaine and an ascent of 2770 meter high, the Col d’Iseran. A really spectecular climb of 47 km long!
A stay at Maison Wontner is highly recommended. I cannot wait to return to this outstanding location.
Tom & Sandie many thanks for the hospitality!

Wonderful Service
I didn't actually stay here, but booked the Chalet for a group of cyclists, they have all given great feedback on how nice the chalet was and it was an ideal stop over for them. I found the owner a pleasure to deal with and very organised. Would have no hesitation in booking again!

Great spring skiing
Second visit to Chalet Tarine, this time much later in the season. The snow was getting heavy, so we explored the area to get the best snow - Tignes, about 40 mins up the valley had fantastic spring snow, when some of the lower resorts in the area were getting very slushy. The chalet itself is on a warm, sunny spot above Bourg St Maurice wiithh fantastic views, so in spring it is a lovely place to relax in the evening sunshine after skiing. Still planning to bring my bike here one summer and tackle some of the cols nearby. For any bike nerds reading this, the drive up to Les Echines takes you up the first few turns of the Courmet de Roseland, while the climbs up to the Col du Petit St Bernard, La Plagne, Les Arcs and the Col de L'iseran all start in the valley below.

You can ski loads of different ski areas from Chalet Tarine. you have to get in the car for 10 minutes to 1 hour but then you can ski some of the best resorts in the Alps. St Foy was a favourite for us, as its so small and quaint in comparison to its more commercial neighbours. From Rosiere you can ski to Italy for a proper Italian pizza for lunch. You can get to Val d'Isere / Tignes, but I wouldn't bother, stick to the lovely places nearer the chalet. The really keen can ski tour / snow shoe up to the ancient fort not far above the house. We tried this, but turned back due to avalanche risk.
The chalet is great, a lovely remote location. A real french village, and refreshingly different to resort life. We wished we'd had snow tyres, and were very happy we had snow chains. I thought we would find the 'upside-down-ness' of the chalet annoying, but it was good for the ski fitness to carry the food and wine up to the top floor and the views and atmosphere in the open plan kitchen / dining / living room were well worth it.
We're looking forward to going back.

After many years of family ski holidays, we have found the ideal destination. The chalet is very conveniently situated for a wide range of resorts and levels of expertise, as well as excellent local shopping and restaurants just down the hill. It has also been beautifully renovated from a delightful farmhouse and incorporates all the style, comfort and space that we could wish for. Tom and Sandie have been very generous with providing a host of extras, and were very attentive to our needs. We will definitely be booking again!

Spent a week at Chalet Tarine last Jan. Spent the first few days exploring Les Arcs and La Plagne, but fancied trying out some of the other resorts in the area - would highly recommend Ste Foy. It is v small and you can ski every piste in a day but the real draw for us were the large avalanche controlled unpisted areas which were a great place to get to grips with deep snow. Next time, we will hir a guide and try skiing down the back of the mountain - looks amazing. La Rosiere is right nearby too but didnt make it there this time. The chalet is really pretty (great views too) and has masses of room for a large group. Bourg St maurice is a short drive away while Les Echines is a tiny, quiet hamlet up the hill . Not your typical ski holiday, but great if you fancy something a bit unusual. Wouldnt mind coming back in the summer with my bike and trying some of the big cols nearby.

Well, what can i say, a fabulous chalet ,stunning views and a kitchen to die for. As a chef i have a passion for food and having "cooked my way around the world" i am used to sub standard facilities in which i have had to prepare a five course feast on a two hob stove! All those memories were quickly eradicated from my mind once i set foot in the chalet's superbly designed Kitchen/Living Room. Cooking for up to 12 people presented no problems and with a glass of the locally produced wine in my hand i was on cloud 9 or very close to that being we were halfway up a mountain range.
The local produce was simply stunning and i would seriously recommend sampling the areas Beaufort Cheese (great in fondue) Goat's Cheese (grilled with honey and thyme) and Savoie Sausages (with Polenta and Tomato Sauce).
Happy Days indeed ,looking forward to returning very very soon.

Was absolutely blown away by Chalet Tarine when we first arrived. I felt around each corner there was a new surprise. The rooms are beautifully decorated and all bathrooms are very modern and the ensuites off the larger bedrooms are huge. The chalet is very in character with the village and the owners have gone to much care to make sure the interior is homely and beautifully presented.
The kitchen on the top floor has stunning views and all mod cons. There is a great terrace/balcony off the open plan lounge/dining area which we enjoyed many meals with our friends and took in the dramatic views, especially one night when there was the best electrical storm I have ever seen.
Staying in the Alps during summer was brilliant. There was so much to do. We visited local antique and food markets in Bourg St Maurice. We picnicked up high in the valleys surrounded by local cow herds. We visited a glacier and took a great day trip to Beaufort. The area also has some wonderful restaurants which are very child friendly and staff were helpful.
We are already planning our next trip to Chalet Tarine and will be bringing all our friends as it is perfect for families.

My wife and i have just returned from 7 nights in the wonderful 'Chalet Tarine' in the peaceful authentic alpine village of Les Echines Dessous. Although only 10 mins by car down the rather narrow ( you soon get used to it ! ) road to the valley town of Bourg st Maurice, it seems a world away when looking down from the chalet. Two large supermarkets in Bourg will stock you up for your stay but we found nowhere in 'our' village to buy fresh bread, this would have made it perfect for us. Not a major problem because there is so much breathtaking scenery to explore you will probably be out and about by car every day anyway, although there is plenty to explore by foot straight from the door if you want!
For any cyclist wanting to see the Tour de France this is an excelent base to watch the alpine stages, we managed to see 3 in our week although we were lucky to have a stage finish and start in Bourg st Maurice, then we went to Lake Annecy which is only one and a quarter hours away by car to watch our 3rd stage. If there are any cyclists reading this wanting to take your bike as i did, make sure you have a low gear to get back up to the chalet! it certainly was a 'sting in the tail' to most of my rides!
Turning my attention to the chalet itself, it has been very thoughtfully and beautifully resored in a rustic fashion, the quality of carpentry is superb and all the fixtures and fittings 1st class. I am 6 ft 1 and banged my head a few times on the exposed beams but it was worth it as they impart a sense of real character in the place.
Although there were only 2 of us staying ,it definately wouldnt feel crowded with10, such is the sense of space.
Tom and Sandie, the owners are very easy to talk to and are clearly not just 'in it for the money'. Tom seemed very genuine and answered any questions we had.
We would not hesitate to recomend Chalet Tarine to any of our friends.
Julian and Anna from Scunthorpe.

I can highly recommend staying at Chalet Tarine. The chalet is so well set up and organised to cater for all your needs. The bedrooms are kitted out with really comfy beds, crisp white linen sheets with plenty of ensuite bathrooms and plush white towels. The main living room has a fantastic log burning stove, long oak table, a well equipped kitchen and incredible views over to La Plagne and Les Arcs. We stayed during the ski season and skied in a number of different resorts. I can imagine the chalet would be just as lovely in the summer, with the breathtaking views and incredible walks. You will need a car. Enjoy!
