Mario, the host is the jewel of this place. Very simpatico, helpful and always pleasant ready to answer questions. The location is good if one wants to be near the city but not in the hectic environs of tourists.

Not much as overall it is a great choice for us.

The hosts Mario and Paola are amazing. The welcomed us with a cold drink. Mario was proud to show us his garden where he grows some of the vegetables used for the breakfasts. The breakfasts are simply amazing and we enjoyed spending over an hour going through them while exchanging with Mario and Paola about their recipe and Portuguese culture in general. We spent 2 nights there. Paola and Mario made reservations both nights for us to nearby restaurants they had recommended, both were amazing recommendations. Mario even gave us a ride to and from the furthest restaurant such that we could enjoy a good drink with tour meals. Paola also did miracles to save the dress of my daughter which had been stained. Traveling for me has become more and more an experience about meeting local people and getting to know them. I am glad we chose to stay at Galo Preto and hope everyone has a similar experience as we did.

A beautiful house in a great location..and the best thing about it is the owners. They were very kind..and the breakfast was dellecuse..they even invited us to dinner and we enjoyed talking with them a lot..I recommend staying here without hesitation..they have a number of rooms as well as one caravan

Mario, easily Portugal's greatest host... Chef, gardener, historian, raconteur, environmentalist. What a great guy! When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by our host. When we left, we said goodbye to our friend. Thank you for making our trip so special Mario. We will see you again some time!

We stayed in a caravan adjacent to the property. Mario was a wonderful host. He and his partner made us feel very welcome.

Great family run business and the hosts were super helpful and make the stay relaxed and enjoyable. The room was large with views of the castle on the mountain. They had a kettle and Herbal tea plus a delicious breakfast.

The host, Mário, was super nice and welcoming - recommended us places to visit and how to get there. The room and bathroom was clean and very spacious, and the bed super comfy! We had a really great view from our room. Also, super easy to get there on motorbike/car. All in all, we had a great time and were really sad we only got to spend one night at Galo Preto, we will 100% recommend it to friends and family :)

Most welcoming and generous hosts! And delicious homemade breakfast. This place was the highlight of our trip. Solid 10 on every aspect.

Mario is very friendly and helpful. He gave us lifts into town on a few occasions as it can be difficult to get an Uber to the guesthouse.

It is a good location for views but is a bit isolated if you don't have your own car.

The owner is the kindest! Room beautiful, with really comfortable bed. No problem with parking in front of the house.

Very recommendable. The hosts were extraordinary nice. The room and the house were cosy, and make you feel at a private place of very good friends. We recommend to book with breakfast, you will get home made dishes, taking your wishes into account. Dishes are cooked with Portuguese styles.

You need a car to get around: 20' driving from the city center. But this is clearly specified by the owners, so not a surprise at all. Just plan to have a car if you want to book this excellent B&B.
