The Beach Retreat cottage was ready for us, all clean and tidy, our home away from home. I would love to be able to find an armchair like the one in the living room! The kids have dubbed it “mom’s chair”. The location is great. The group of kids we take down, my sons and their friends, love that there is good eating, great breakfast goodies, groceries, and shopping within walking distance. The beach is great as is the pool and a big favorite is the hot tub time in the evening before calling it a night! We have been going down for years now and love it every year. We come home relaxed and we’ll fed. The restaurants are fantastic. The thing that always surprises me is that despite the fact that we’re only there once a year, folks remember you! Everyone is so friendly! If you’re looking for a great, really nice, comfortable, and affordable place to stay, this is it. The office staff is very helpful with whatever you might need. Give it a try. You’ll like it!

The only drawback was the kitchen was devoid of anything other than dishes and dishwasher pods. It would be nice if there were some other cleaning products and some kitchen basics like coffee filters and salt and pepper.

Stay was great! Enjoyed the beach house and convenience of the private beach and community pool. Beach house was the standard clean and had all the kitchen appliances you could need. There is a small roach problem on the balcony and outside and 1-2 ventured into the house but nothing crazy. TV in one of the bedrooms had a slight glitch probably an easy fix we didn’t complain because my daughter watched tv in the living room. But overall we enjoyed ourselves.

Great for a group of Friends on a long weekend fishing trip.

The cleanliness of the property was just ok. The cleaning service crew needs to do a better job. We had issues with getting the TV in the main living room area to work. After 30 min of trying multiple things we finally got it. However, the TV’s in the bedrooms only had one channel to watch. The house was in a decent location and big enough for my family of 7. The beach was gorgeous and not crowded. Very short walk to the beach. View from balcony was great. There are a lot of stairs so not ideal for my elderly grandmother. Keep this in mind if you are traveling with someone that may have issues with stairs. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, pans and silverware. If you plan on fixing coffee or food you will need to bring coffee filters and anything else you will need. Overall the property was decent but I would prefer it to be much cleaner.

The house wasn't pink like in the picture! That should be changed or updated but otherwise it was a perfect place to stay at the beach!!

Upon arriving to the location, this rental property is just what the pictures show. Very clean and neat, they supplied towels and linens. The bedrooms were very spacious and and the view from the balconies were lovely. My friends and I enjoyed our weekend, location was great for restaurants and supermarkets. We are interested at looking at this property again, if we ever return to OBX. Happy with our stay!!

No complaints. Just a few observations: 1. Some detail cleaning would be useful such as under or behind dressers and beds and inside drawers. Found a child’s toy in by the nightstand and some debris in several drawers. 2. Hot water could be set to a higher temp. It was hot but I like very hot showers. Water pressure was good but temp could be better. 3. Tv display in main living area was cropped smaller than the picture so that the sides were cut off. I’m not very technical so didn’t know how to fix this. TV was still watchable but I noticed it. Besides the few things mentioned, we really liked the location and we had a better view than we expected. It was great to walk maybe 100 feet and be at the water. Overall, great vacation.

House is solid and clean but beach access is compromised due to August storm difficult to fish there. If fishing the point it’s close and the view is great, outdoor deck chairs were awesome. Hose is a bit short for spraying down cars.

It has everything we expect and meets every need. We especially enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and lighthouse from each of the three decks. The house met our expectations, very clean and orderly as always. The office staff were very nice and helpful with any questions. We did arrive a little early and very happy the house had been cleaned so we were allowed to move in. We were most grateful especially after a long trip. Due to the coved virus we did not eat out as often as we usually do. However, we would recommend Angeleno's Pizza Shop in Buxton. They have many choices besides pizza and it's nice, especially after a day of shopping or fishing. We did take-out but they have also offer nice accommodations to eat in. We did eat at The Sandbar Restaurant just past the high school in Buxton. The food has always been very good and tables were spaced a good distance apart. Also, we enjoyed Oceanas located in Avon. We have eaten lunches and dinners there and have never been disappointed. Very good menu. As for activities, if you are interested in fishing like our guys, then you may enjoy catching your own bait and all you need is a "throw net" and off you go to the sound side. You can't miss it, it's where lots of kite sailing happens located to the right going into Buxton. Our fellows did not have to buy any bait this year which was amazing. Admit, sometimes this doesn't happen, but it's still lots of fun. You never know what may be on that net, even shrimp have been caught. We enjoy the Lighthouse, shops at Hatteras, and visiting Ocrakoke Island. Nothing compares to relaxing and walking on the beach and enjoying the beautiful ocean. and visit One of my very favorites is a visit to Ocrakoke Island. It's lots of fun traveling on the ferry, takes about an hour. <

The house was actually nicer than we thought it would be, it has lots of outside deck space which isn’t shown in the listing. The only issue was the huge roaches we would see periodically, but the house appeared to be pretty clean. There were a couple of other things (no grill tools though there is a charcoal grill, lack of some kitchen supplies), but I’ll say that overall it’s a very nice place.

Came to Buxton, NC after our NJ trip got cancelled due to covid. Great location and accommodations. There were a couple of minor issues with the property, but nothing that wasn't handled well by the property manger. There are plenty of places to choose from down there, but this one fit the bill for us. Highly recommend.
