This was a perfect location for a girlfriend getaway- A quaint old cabin on the mountain built straight into rocks. Fully stocked with anything you might need for cooking, sleeping, relaxing or or just hanging out with gorgeous lake views sunrise to sunset! Host is super easy to contact and very accommodating- Thanks so much!

Cool house with lots of history. Big patio /deck with a Great Lake and mountain view. Recommend doing a lock box to cut out the key mailing back and forth. We cleaned surfaces because it was a bit dusty and fridge was very dirty upon arrival. But no biggie. Fire place and living quarters are small but very cozy and really make you feel like you are away on a wonderful getaway. I would stay there again for sure. Owner should purchase a new baby gate for stairs. The one stated at property was broken.

Perfect cabin for a week of solitude. Extremely quiet & peaceful location with the best view of the lake from the deck. The cabin is just as advertised & owner was very helpful. I’ll definitely consider staying here again.

Great location, but sad to have not known about the new ALA rules that no non-ALA members may use the path around the lake! It was a disappointment. Walking the lake is part of the lake life, and to be unable to do that was frustrating. Otherwise, we had a great experience. The house was clean, comfortable, glad to have fans on the hot evenings, too.

Lovely Mountain Cottage with Breathtaking Views of the Lake
We loved our stay, celebrating my wife's birthday. This is a very charming, cozy, classic mountain cabin with million dollar views of the lake. The views were spectacular & dramatic in any weather, and at any hour (we woke up one night to a perfect full moon illuminating the lake). The kitchen is small, but FULLY equipped, so we ate in every night--making dinners was much more fun than going out. The cabin easily accommodated two (small) families, six people total, and our host Kenneth was great & very responsive. (One small drawback: the only shower is downstairs in a kind of separate bunkhouse unit--but there is a beautiful tub upstairs with a glorious view of the lake!) A charming, homey, welcoming cabin--and you can't beat the location! Also, a quick walk down to the lake for lovely walks--or swimming (when the weather is warmer)...

The property was just as advertised....quaint, charming and cozy. It was well equipped and you can’t beat the location. It was the perfect place for a quiet and relaxing getaway. Highly recommend.

We were very comfortable and had everything we needed in this charming cabin with a beautiful view of the lake! We had a great stay and we’re very comfortable. Communication with the host was easy, but we didn’t have any issues. We travelled with 2 small children and they had a great time as well. There was a baby gate for the stairs. The deck was so peaceful and evenings by the fire were a real treat!

Beautiful views
Kenneth and Phil's place was so fun. It was older (obviously, it's a 100 year old cabin!) but in great shape and had some beautiful details/architecture. But what makes this place so great is the view! It made the stay extra special.

1925 Classic Lake Arrowhead Retreat
Very cool, 100 year old cabin with an amazing view of the lake. Have never seen a sunrise like this one. While a classic, all utilities work like new. Had a great time, plan to go again.

Wonderful winter stay
Very rustic vintage retreat with lived-in feel and huge stone fireplace. Captivating view of the lake and distant snow covered mountains. Wonderfully responsive and communicative host.

Magic
Not enough words to describe this incredible property. Couldn’t ask for more charm. So cozy. It was the perfect Fall getaway. Kenneth made the whole process so easy, was incredibly accommodating and responded quickly to every question.

Amazing time
Property was amazing! 1925 home, very well maintained, instructions on what to do was awesome! Kenneth responded to questions immediately! Would definitely come back and stay again!

Mountain Retreat
One of the things we were looking for was an authentic mountain cabin, and if that is what you want, then look no more. Cedar Glen is rustic and a historic gem. It is perfectly situated to get a huge view of the lake and magical sunsets. If you want to relax and truly enjoy nature then Cedar Glen is your place. We cannot wait to go back!
I must also mention that Kenneth was a great host and provided clear instructions to gain access to and use the cabin. 5 Stars!!!

Another memorable stay!
We came in March pre-Covid lockdown and it snowed hours after we arrived and the next four days were nothing short of magic in this place! We came back last week to enjoy summer here and it was just as beautiful. What a treat to open all the windows and the doors and enjoy the sounds and sights and smells only a vintage cabin can offer. We ate dinner on the patio of the Grill at Antler Inn over in Twin Peaks and walked the trail around the lake that is easy to get to from the cabin. We BBQ’d our dinners, drank wine on the patio until bedtime, and even enjoyed a fire one evening. One of the days we took the short drive up to Big Bear and walked the quaint little streets only a charming mountain town can offer. Looking forward to a revisit this fall!

Gorgeous views during Covid!
Kenneth made the process of check in and check out super easy ... along with the whole stay. Great communicator and host at this funky, charming, loved and loved-in cabin. Covid 19 of course played a big part in our decision to escape LA to the mountains, and so thrilled we did. We chose a five day period in Late July that happened to be unusually hot at Arrowhead and without A/C, it was a bit difficult ... the front porch was our favorite spot, and with umbrellas and the awning open, the sun was more bearable. When normally you’d have access to the beach, we weren’t allowed without a member present so we got creative with our outings. We found one small beach called Peninsula Park which was a 150 step walk-down where the kids played and we could’ve bbq’d next to the marina. It was lovely! But other than that, and a trip for ice cream and coffee to the town, we struggled to occupy everyone. A day trip to Big Bear on a boat was so worth it, and an afternoon with friends at another home filled our time. Without true beach access, it was tough though. As much as it’s great to have a dock to jump off of, it was a drive from the house... which no one was compelled to do. The walk to town was too far for our little ones (only 1.5 miles so a good walk!) but a lovely option if you want.
As for the house, the kitchen was fully equipped and clean! To take a shower you have to go outside the home (I can’t imagine during the winter!) and use the bottom floor bathroom. We didn’t even use those two beds... but snuck down for the shower. So that was odd.
We had a lovely stay and loved that the house was close to everything! Waking up to that lake view in the Master Bedroom made it all worth it.

The VIEW!!!
We had a wonderful stay in Lake Arrowhead at Boulder Crest. Very rustic quaint home with the best view. We spent most of our time on the deck being physically distant with the trees during this time of the Covid pandemic.
My son has multiple environmental and dust allergies so he was congested the whole time there as the place could use a bit of a deep clean( beating the rugs and pillows and blankets free of dust). This ,however, did not deter him or us from enjoying our stay.

Charming
+: Stellar, unblocked view of lake from the top large deck, and the lower deck; quaint, charming, quirky old house; fully supplied with all you need except for food; nice tv/dvd player with Dvds; comfy twin/full beds with a fan on lowest level; wood fireplace; Love all the windows (with screens) for great breeze in house; comfy couches; The upstairs rooms have bedside tables on both sides or beds with their own lamps; we used the dock key to enjoy swimming and a picnic at the shaded table at the dock.
—: upstairs queen bed in lake view room was uncomfortable (too firm)—I had to ditch my spouse to sleep on a more comfortable twin bed downstairs; ants in the kitchen and bathrooms (Mostly just some “scouts”); the lack of a bathroom on the main (middle) level was an issue (for prob just me); the lowest level bedroom seems very far away because we had to go outside in order to get to it, so I did not want to lock the main door at night in case a family member needed to come inside the main part of the house in middle of the night.. We probably wouldn’t stay in winter, though, due to the outside-only access to the lowest level room/bathroom. There is no shower in upstairs bathroom—just a tub. (The shower is in lowest level “outside” room). Overall, we really liked it.

Magnificent
This house is special in so many ways. The view from the deck will nourish your soul. I spent six blissful days mostly inside, reading and writing and gazing dreamily at the lake. The image will carry me through the coming months when, to quote WB Yeats, “While I stand ... on the pavement grey/I hear it in the deep heart’s core.”

Enchanting and memorable family getaway in charming historic cabin!
Kenneth is an exceptionally kind host! Everything was absolutely perfect during our stay. We visited Lake Arrowhead with our 14-year-old twins and my 82-year old mom, who has early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease but who is still very agile. There are steps to the bedrooms at this property and she navigated them well by holding onto the railing and walking slowly. The views from the large deck are majestic and mesmerizing. The access to the dock gave us an opportunity to fish with our kids for the first time — our son caught a rainbow trout and couldn’t have been happier! We enjoyed using Kenneth’s kayak as well. My mom even walked with us down the stairs (there had to have been more than 100?!) down to the Lake trail, and all the way to the village. She loved the scenery but was pretty tired after getting to the village, so a couple of us walked back to get the car and pick her up for the ride home. Still, it was quite a feat since she had a quadruple bypass and hip replacement surgery a few years ago. We played board games and my teens loved having their own space in the bunkhouse below the main home. It’s so cool to think this cozy home was built almost 100 years ago in 1925. It’s incredible to see how very clean and well-maintained it is after almost a century! Boulder Crest was the perfect escape for our family and we so appreciate Kenneth and his family for opening up their little slice of heaven in the trees to the rest of us! (Note: we did cut a watermelon and noticed a few ants appear, hungry for the sweet juice— a few got into our bag of blueberry muffins— so we just made sure to really clean the countertop well and we put our muffins in the fridge — and after that we didn’t spot another ant! So just be careful not to leave food out :)) Thank you, again, Kenneth and family, for sharing this gem of a home with us. I know your family has had so many great memories there, and we so appreciate you allowing us to make some of our own there!

Lake view from the balcony & master bedroom room was amazing! Enjoyed breakfast & dinner each day on the balcony! House was exactly what we were looking for. Easy walk on the beautiful lake trail to the village.

Ultra charming Lake Arrowhead historic home with best view!
What an absolutely beautiful and charming historic cabin ! Our family of 2 adults and 2 teens enjoyed a cozy stay and marveled at the stunning views from every window, and the huge deck. One thing to be aware of is the bunk house is a floor below the main house, with two queen bedrooms on the upper floor. We solved concerns here by me sleeping with my daughter down in the bunk house- which is super comfy! My husband and son slept upstairs. So a little bit more of a camping vibe with the sleeping arrangements. The fireplace was awesome for atmosphere and warmth when the temperature dropped. The kitchen was well-equipped for simple meals. Lots of games and areas to do puzzles, play poker and share family time. Netflix movies entertained us after dark. Just an unforgettable cabin with tons of charm and history. Kenneth was a great host and super helpful with every aspect. Book a stay to make some great family memories!

Wonderful Coronication Getaway!
There are not enough words allowed on my review to convey what a wonderful time we had so I'll use as many as I can! Authentic, charming, magical, comfortable, inviting, warm, location, and a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed the snow, had the fire going all day, did puzzles, played UNO, BBQ'd steaks, made pancakes on the griddle, walked the nearby lake trail and drank wine! I've been coming to Lake Arrowhead with my 5 siblings since the 60's after immigrating
from Holland. It has evolved into bringing my grown children and their babies. My 11 month old grand-daughter took her first steps the second evening. Remember when I said this place was magic?! Thank you Kenneth for being one of the best hosts I've ever dealt with. I cannot wait to come back when the weather is warm. It was a great place to be away from what is happening in the world today. I highly recommend families to take the opportunity to escape our current reality and enjoy Kenneths.

Rustic Retreat in Lake Arrowhead
My family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Boulder Crest over New Year weeks. The cabin dates back to the 1920's so has a very unique charm/feel. The cabin is supplied with everything you need to relax and enjoy. It's important to note this is a historic place that's almost 100 years old - not everything is perfect and that's what we enjoyed about it :)

Vintage charm and stunning views!
Our family spent 2 cozy days/nights in this vintage cabin, with stunning lake and glorious sunset views. We were lucky to arrive after a fresh, powdery snowfall, and enjoyed perfect clear weather. A winter wonderland--exactly what we wanted for a quick getaway and change of scene! As advertised, this is a 1925 historic cabin with all the quirks and charms one would expect: vintage wood paneling and plumbing fixtures, dormers, quaint 2nd story ceiling lines, huge stone fireplace, and cozy furniture, yet still has all the modern conveniences that make for a pleasant mountain stay. While compact, the kitchen is fully equipped to cook or bake as desired, and the owners provided a few staples (e.g., spices, oils, condiments) that are always a thoughtful touch. The main house has 2 brms and a bath (with lake view tub!) upstairs on the 2nd level, with kitchen, dining, living room and outside deck on the main level. The lower level (accessed via separate outside stairway) has a bath (w/ shower) and 2 queen beds in two cute cubbies--a great separate space for older kids or another couple. The cabin is in a lovely part of the lake amid other charming homes. We really enjoyed our walk around the lake trail in the snow to the village and back. Communication with the owner was good and we highly recommend to others.

Charming Boulder Crest
This cabin is absolutely magical! I was hoping to have a stress free week away with my family to show them the joys of a simpler time when electronics weren’t a necessity. Boulder Crest did not disappoint!

Perfect family getaway
We loved this cabin! Perfectly accommodated our family of four (with toddler), and the view of the lake was unbelievable. We really enjoyed discovering the character of this cabin, and our kids were plenty entertained by the snow covered deck. Sitting by the fire at the end of the day was magical. The owner Kenneth is very accessible and helpful with details about the property and the surrounding area. Highly recommend.

Back to the past
We had a very nice time! It is very close to the village. Being there is a trip to the 1920's because of the decor and the ambiance of the place. The views from there are beautiful.

Great Stay once again
This is the second time we have rented Boulder Crest for Thanksgiving and is such a special place to spend the Holidays. Kenneth is very prompt to getting back to you with any questions or concerns that you may have prior or durning your stay. We will return again for sure!!!

OUR PERFECT THANKSGIVING WEEK!
What a great place to spend the week of Thanksgiving with your family. Living in a piece of history, with the modern touches of rustic luxury is the perfect description of this property. All of the other reviews pretty much capture the greatness of this one of a kind house. We only had a couple of questions for Kenneth during our stay, and he got right back to us. Great property owner!!! Thanks Kenneth. We will be back again for sure and highly recommend Boulder Crest!!!!

Serene Lake View, and Rustic, Original Charm
As someone who has enjoyed all that Lake Arrowhead has to offer since I was a little girl, in the 70's, I was thrilled to give my own family that experience this past weekend, while staying at Boulder Crest. The view is breathtaking, and the deck is really relaxing. With all the charm that the cabin, itself, has to offer, my personal favorite thing about the cabin is its proximity to Jensen's Minute Shoppe, a gas station, the Cedar Glen Malt Shop, and The Village - being less than 5 minutes from most of these key spots is a definite plus! You can even walk to The Village from the cabin, if you take the ALA trail around Orchard Bay. So much about Lake Arrowhead has changed since I was a kid, but the key elements remain, and can be taken in at Boulder Crest. If you're looking to unplug (although there is a strong wifi connection for those who require it!), unwind, and enjoy who you're with in a gorgeous spot, you'll be happy staying here - we were! This place is still one of my favorite places to be, and we look forward to returning to Boulder Crest Cabin one day soon. Thank you for a great time in a perfect little spot!

Boulder Crest is a fantastic place. It is so full of history and charm, with something new discovered at every turn. The house is so comfortable that we felt like we were home within 10 minutes of being in the place. After rain the first night, the weather turned completely, and was beautiful for the rest of our stay. The lake sparkled, and we even saw a bald eagle gliding near the shore.
The house comfortably accommodated the 6 adults and 1 infant that we were. Large leather sofa, love seat and chairs made for a very cozy setting around the beautiful stone fireplace. At the same time, privacy was never an issue.
The deck is incredible. It is very large, with plenty of seating, and the view of the lake and surrounding mountains is spectacular. It doesn't get any better!
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans and utensils. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and found everything we needed to get the job done.
Boulder Crest is conveniently located; within easy walking distance to Jensen's Market, and a short drive to Lake Arrowhead Village.
We had a truly memorable week at Boulder Crest, and will DEFINITELY be returning in the future.

If you are looking for the charm of history with a wonderful lake view, this would be the place. The cabin shows many of the characteristics of years gone by and is well taken care of.
We enjoyed our time, even though we were not prepared for the unexpected cold weekend, it will be a memory we will look back at with fondness...
The owner is pleasant to deal with and helpfull with any quesitons you may have!
