Wonderful time in a beautiful home, we enjoyed the house and the grounds!

We appreciated the old atmosphere vibes and yet with modern updates of the place. Super convenient location for all things Spring Green!

We really enjoyed exploring this wonderful house! It was filled with a history of photos and period pieces. With 8 of us in our group, there was plenty of room for meals, sleeping, and just relaxing. The beds were very comfortable, there were 2 refrigerators for all our weekend treats, and 2 ice makers for our evening cocktails. We enjoyed our evening campfire. A beautiful country setting.

Overall, We had a great stay in this Farmhouse, when considering the fact that the house is 150 years old. There obviously has been various improvements.
On the plus side heat and air conditioning worked perfectly, beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen.
All bathrooms were operational, and our 4 year old took over the tiny half-bath with the low toilet just perfect for her. We also enjoyed the many nesting birds visible from the windows for excellent viewing.
It was grand to be so close to House of the Rock, Taliesin and other sites, but the clear highlight of our trip was the fabulous state park! Two in our party are rock climbers and we all hiked while the climbers did their thing, then cooled off in the beach and nearby waterfall!
On the negative side, all the decks, both downstairs and upstairs are in need of repair! The big deck off the kitchen had tables, chairs, umbrellas, NEW cushions overlooking beautiful views of the farm country. Unfortunately, the deck itself is in need of repair, taking some of the charm away. An upstairs deck proved to be the best place to watch fireworks, but the black surface made all of our feet/socks black as well & it looked a bit unsafe.
Lastly, the trough-like-sink in the downstairs master was a mess! Some kind of plastic-like material was peeling in major swaths, making it unattractive and unusable.
A few simple refurbishments would have made this home a 5 STAR rather than a 4!

The house was very clean, secure, well lit. Fully equipped kitchen and enough dining room space for all. Extra refrigerator for drinks, nice! Short drive to APT and Taliesin.
Would stay again! Thank you!

I rented this house recently with a group of 9 girls. When we arrived our group was over-the-moon with the location, quality, and personality of the home! Just touring the home when we first arrived was an adventure itself. With its multitude of rooms, games, and amenities we were fully prepared for a fantastic weekend! The owners were also very helpful and easy to contact with any questions we had!
100/10 would recommend this house as your next place to stay!

There was more than adequate room for the 7 of us! Comfortable beds, enough bedrooms and the dinning room table stretched fit our needs. The outdoor entertainment shed was very interesting,
we enjoyed the corn hole game! A note for the managers- we saw ants in the kitchen sink & saw a ground hog running from under the deck.

We had a phenomenal stay for my mother's 70th birthday. The kids had a ball exploring the house and the grounds when it was sunny, and playing games together indoors when it was cold and rainy. We luckily had clear skies one night for spectacular star-gazing. The whole family asked when we can come back!

This was our second stay here. The property is perfect for our group of 10 who gather each year around this time to attend American Players’ Theater. The location is beautiful and the many staircases make for interesting exploring in this historic old house. Communication with owners is great!

Property was great and was all that was advertised. Hosts were very accomodating when we had issues with the EV charger, they went to work right away and got the issues resolved.

House was clean & all the different rooms and bedrooms were awesome, like staying in a old farmhouse museum, but with modern amenities. Bar shed was a great addition. Had a Great Fun Cool Time!

It was an honor to stay in this historic home. Everything wonderfully quirky was included. So many rooms, 3 staircases, butlers pantry, and getting lost just walking to the bathroom. If you're into charming old homes you'll love it. The outdoor pavilion/bar/game area was a huge hit for a huge family. 4 bathrooms for 7 women winner! Winner! We sat around the big dining room table and the huge outdoor picnic table. The back deck was great with 2 more tables and umbrellas. All in all a really great time. Thank you Jan and Rob

Family gathering to celebrate the passage of 94 year old aunt to eternal life. In spite of the partly solemn event the gathering of family and sharing of food and stories over several days in the warmth and charm of Cold Springs Farm was a great blessing.

This location was wonderful for our mini family reunion. It was fun exploring all the rooms in the house. The outdoor saloon and fire pit were great places to hang out in the evenings.

We stayed at cold Spring farm as a launching point to go visit house on the rock. Everybody in our group really enjoyed staying in the old house with all the antiques and it was fun to see and reminisce about how things were used. We also really enjoyed spending time outdoors in the barn/bar area. I would recommend this property to anyone that has a larger group as there are many rooms and sleeping accommodations.

Each winter 12 of us (6 couples) find a vacation home to enjoy a weekend away from life. This year we chose Cold Spring Farm. It had been three long years since we were able to enjoy this annual tradition! The property did not disappoint. Jan provided excellent communication & directions. It was snowing when we arrived but the sidewalk up to the house had been freshly shoveled and the pellet stove was running with a warm fire dancing when we walked in. Tons of room, a bedroom for each couple, plenty of bathrooms, a terrifically stocked kitchen, huge dining room table that fit our entire group for meals. Lots of space to spread out and enjoy conversations and play games. For an old farmhouse it was amazingly warm in the winter! This place has a good vibe! It’s huge but inviting & cozy too. You won’t regret staying here!

If you have ever gone on a tour of an old mansion, and daydreamed what it would be like to live in the house, this is as close as it gets. I would call our weekend getaway an experience. I’m not going to lie, it takes a bit to get past the “it’s so old” feeling, but once you really start to absorb it all, it becomes such a neat house. Exploring all of the rooms was definitely the highlight! You never knew what was behind a door (so.many.doors)! But sitting in the parlor drinking hot chocolate, reading in the dormer, conversing around the large dining room table, and playing hide and seek were close seconds. We did not get to enjoy the “saloon” since we came in the winter, but there are so many features out there that would it make it a fun space to hangout! We enjoyed exploring the property grounds and our walk on the trail along the creek. The kitchen has more cookware than you would ever need, beautiful dishes to fit the timeframe, and Jan supplied essentials like cooking spray and pepper/salt that are easy to forget. The towels are plush and the beds are comfortable. Two of the bedrooms are adjoining- this was perfect for kids. 4 bathrooms (updated) gave everyone their own space. Lastly, Jan was great! She answered all of my questions and was quick to respond. It was a trip we will talk about for years!

This house has everything and then some! My girlfriends and I had a great time exploring and enjoying this property on a weekend away. The rain and cold kept us from experiencing the outdoor amenities, but that just gives us a reason to come back again!
The kitchen was well laid out, bedrooms neat and pleasant, and games, books, and historic items were in nearly every room. The hosts had even thoughtfully started the fireplace to greet us and it was a lovely cozy start to our weekend away. Would give six stars if I could. :)

This property was the perfect property for our getaway. The house is well maintained and very clean. Comfortable beds and bedding and a fully furnished kitchen. The host, Jan is wonderful to work with and gave us lots of good dining suggestions in the area. They welcome you to explore the home inside and out. I highly recommend this property.

The outdoor areas - fire pit & "saloon" are perfect additions to this charming house.

It was such a pleasure to enter the house, it was clean and looked very nice/ special.
Exploring the house with family from abroad who had never seen a farmhouse, was so much fun.
It has a very interesting layout, which we all loved. We slept great, good beds. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to enjoy all the house and grounds have to offer. The hosts where great in communicating with us.
We can definitely recommend this wonderful and exciting house.

Family get together
We had a wonderful time staying and exploring this beautiful home. There was 10 adults in our party and we had ample room and beds . The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked and the surrounding area was beautiful. Even though this is historic house the upgrades made for a very comfortable stay. The bathrooms and showers were modern and well stocked.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful property.

You are definitely surrounded by farmland. The home is very clean and historic. Jan, the manager could not have been nicer. Wonderful to have so many bedrooms. The stairs to the second floor may be steep for older people. We enjoyed our stay at Cold Spring Farm!

Perfect Group House
Jan and Rob’s property was spacious, scenic, and perfect for our group of 10 visiting for a wedding. My only complaint is that we didn’t have more time to utilize the amazing grounds! The bedrooms were spacious and the house is full of rooms to explore and hang out in. Would highly recommend this listing!

Perfect for a family get together
I rented this VRBO for a family and friends get together in celebration of the award of a daughter's Ph.D. We needed space for the immediate family, plus good friends from far away--our own home was not big enough, nor close enough to guests from Chicago and Madison. The six bedrooms and 3.5 baths here, plus so many other spaces (game room upstairs was one guest's favorite) allowed everyone to be together or have a quiet spot.
We used the outdoor shed for an afternoon-evening party, and ended the day with a bonfire. The shed kept us out of the sun during the middle of a hot day, and the hosts kindly brought by a large fan that helped keep the air moving. We grilled brats and burgers, served picnic food and sweets all day.
The guests all enjoyed the home and the setting very much. The beds were comfortable, the bath towels soft and absorbent. Just an amazing house. We loved the wall fan in the kitchen--it was a great way to keep the air moving while cooking in the well-equipped space. My sister took photos of all her favorite details--many lovely items that were so much fun to look at. Our sincere thanks to the hosts for a wonderful place for our event.
