As described. If a cottage is what you’re looking for then you will find it here. Cathy and Dave are wonderful owners. Very helpful. Hurricane Lee came through during our stay. Cathy made sure we had extra water and preparations in case we lost power. Luckily it didn’t happen but we’re grateful for their assistance. We hope to visit again soon.

Excellent location, cabin is older, with an old cabin smell. Does not have AC, but maybe we missed that in the listing. Owners are very nice and helpful. Cabin has everything you need, except a Keurig :) , and was clean

The cottage was awesome, clean, well equipped with anything and everything you would need. I rented this place because of the quietness and large property for my 3 year old grandson to run around without a care. However, due to the mosquitoes being so bad even during the day this was not even an option for him….other than that the stay was very relaxing and enjoyable and your screened in sunporch was a well appreciated. This is a beautiful location and an incredible cottage, thank you Cathy for everything

This is a beautiful spot to stay with a gorgeous view. Just a few minutes to Souris if you needed to grab anything in town (lobster rolls at The Lobster Shack in Souris were so good). It was nice to have the screened in porch as an alternative spot to hang out. We had everything we needed. It was a short walk to the beach and there were lots of birds to watch. I have to say, it was the quietest spot we have ever stayed, which was perfect. The neighbouring cottages are at well spaced distances. I would definitely stay here again.

It is EXACTLY as portrayed in the listing. Beautiful, quiet bay off the front porch. We had breakfast out there and watched the fog lift (and then come back. Lol. And then lift again) every day. When the tide is out, you can walk along Fortune Bay and collect shells and sea glass. We saw blue herons every day and as we were leaving, some seals or maybe porpoise came to say bye. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you could need. Very comfortable beds and soft bedding and towels etc. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, even measuring cups if you feel like baking something. But why would you when there are excellent bakeries on PEI. We had a lot of rain, so we would sit in the screened in side porch and we could still enjoy the view of the bay. A great place to explore the east end of the island. Little harbour Beach and Basin Beach have soft white sand with red cliffs. Looks exactly like the travel brochures. A bit of a drive to Cavendish Beach and North Rustico, but it gives you a chance to enjoy the rolling hills and to see the interior farms of the island. The town of Souris is small but has everything you need: grocery store, bank, interesting shops, pretty harbour and lighthouse. It is a wonderful spot away from the noise and crowds of the larger, more touristy areas. Cathy provided suggestions on local sites and restaurants etc. We are already talking about when we are going back. Thank you for sharing this wonderful spot with us.

Everything was simply just perfect! So many things to do around and people from the area so warm and welcoming! The kitchen was complete and view astonishing! Lots of bugs at night but it didn't really matter since so many birds were happily singing their joy of living in such a rich healthy environment!

We loved this cute cozy cottage with its beautiful view! Having a fire under the incredible stars was such a great experience at night. Not to mention being able to have our dog with us. Cathy had great suggestions for things to do and was great to communicate with.

Clean, good privacy, beach access. Overall, great spot.

The location was very nice. The view excellent. The beds were comfortable and the cottage well equipped. My only recommendation would be that it is not suitable for older people or people with walking problems. Access to the beach is difficult for any one with mobility issues. The stairs at the front of the building should be replaced or removed as they are difficult to navigate. The cottage however is aptly named " Idle at the Bay" because it does make you want to just sit with a beverage of your choice and a good book.

Property is surrounded by trees on three sides, with a view of the beach and Rolo Bay and Eglington Cove. Nice, clean cottage with all amenities you may need on your vacation. We had a wonderful time there and hopefully will be back.

Stunning view from the porch. Very quiet and secluded cabin with dark night skies and spectacular sunrises. In warmer weather we would have walked/waded to the beautiful secluded beach every day. As it was cool, we drove. Only 20 minutes to stores in Souris.

Cozy, private ocean/beach front cottage with spectacular views is how it was described and is exactly what you get. We were three girls (4 for one night) and two dogs and while we enjoyed touring the area, we would have been just as happy to stay put the entire time and enjoy the outdoor deck, screened in porch and beach. Cathy was a lovely host and you will make a good decision to stay here.

Extremely clean and welcoming—well appointed with everything from beach towels to travel information. Host was very welcoming and responded immediately to any questions including arranging to pickup, cook and deliver lobsters when asked where to purchase them. Beautiful grounds with space for our French bulldogs to run and play. Great place to stay and explore the east end of PEI.

From start to finish it was a very easy pleasant experience and I highly recommend anybody wishing to escape to the country in PEI this checks all the boxes. Not only was the cottage idyllic and a home away from home but the owner is Very accommodating, caring and conscientious to one’s needs.... I would have to rate this 10+ for sure 😊

Beautiful peaceful fully equipped cottage . Surrounded by nature we didn’t feel the need to leave - so easy to relax on the deck , in the screen room and comfortable indoor furniture. Slept very well in comfortable beds Wonderful walk to beach and my dog was in heaven . House is absolutely fully equipped - we cooked every meal there . I have booked for another trip . It’s a gem I look forward to returning to !

We had a wonderful relaxing four days in this beautiful well equipped cottage.

The cottage was exactly as described. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back sometime! The views from the cottage were stunning, you could see all the way across the water towards Souris. My 2.5 year old son enjoyed the large yard and outdoor toys provided. The hammock underneath the big apple tree was a nice touch and provided a relaxing area of shade. There is beach access from the property but you need to walk through tall grass. We appreciated the option to be able to walk to the beach but we didn’t end up going too often as it is quite the trek with kids.

Our family just finished a three night stay on this beautiful property. There is a huge yard surrounded by flowers. The house and entire property are well maintained and stocked with everything you could need. We loved the location. It's just a quick drive into Souris, but when you turn down the lane to this cottage you feel like you've entered a different world. It's so quiet and tranquil. The kids and dogs enjoyed running around the large yard. There is a nice firepit, but the weather didn't cooperate for us. However, the sun porch made up for that! We spent our evenings sitting out on the enclosed porch. A beautiful spot to sip a glass of wine and enjoy the view! It was the perfect base for our "down east staycation." We went deep sea fishing with Tranquility Cove out of Georgetown and also highly recommend Bogside Brewery in Montague. It is well worth the drive and we ended up going twice for supper and cider. Cathy was an amazing host. We appreciated all the the little things she did to make us feel welcome and at home (fresh flowers in vases, email check-ins to make sure we had everything we needed, and a list of recommendations for things to do in the area). We loved our stay at Idle by the Bay and hope to return soon! Crystal

Absolutely adorable cottage, stocked with everything you could possibly need. The owner Cathy couldn't have been more helpful, even loaning tools to make a minor auto repair. The scenery is magnificent. An absolute gem of a property!

Great spot. We Enjoyed every minute of it.

The property is superb. It is the most peaceful, relaxing place I have ever stayed. all one hears is the birds, the wind in the trees and the lapping of the water. The view from the deck provides a totally unobstructed view of the bay. The cottage is large and very comfortable.

Quiet by the water view. Walk to beach threw tall grass and walk the coast forever. Peaceful and quiet. Clean. Cottage has everything and anything you would need.

Not only was the property, as beautiful as the pictures, but Cathy thought of everything as far as amenities. From cookware to making sure everything was stocked for our visit. The town of Souris is absolutely lovely, and in a very close proximity. Our dog has an absolute blast with the acreage the property offers as well. The sandbars are an amazing experience, just moments from walking off the front porch. Thank you again Cathy, it was a truly amazing experience!
