Brendan sent me to house that was booked out and isn't the first time I was told that he books people and take their money

The experience was good and convenient for our family.

The apartments are in a neighborhood that required nearly an hour commute by train to Manhattan. The property appears to need maintenance. There were NO smoke detectors in two bedrooms on the 3rd floor, the was a missing Newell post on the top of the 3rd floor stairway which made the entire railing unstable. In the 3rd floor bath, we noted on arrival the towel bar had been pulled out of the wall & this was reported to the owner, but was not repaired during our stay. Toilet paper holders in both baths were broken or missing. There are 6 bedrooms, but only 2 baths. It was not an ideal situation. More baths would be appreciated. There are multiple holes in the walls throughout the 2 apartment where wires have been pulled thru & the effect is unsettling & unsightly.
On the upside, it was a short walk to the J Train.
Finally, the owner, in his welcome letter, asked us not to tell anyone who came to the door that we were renting from him which makes us wonder whether there was some kind of zoning issue in play.
We would not likely stay here again.
We never met the owner during our stay.

Lovely size apartments. Our only problem was lack of kitchen equipment/crockery, not enough to go around, I messaged the owner, to which he did reply, but nothing appeared

I am Thankful to have found this property. Needed a place for my out of town guest/family from North Carolina. They loved it. Very clean, updated spacious home. Look forward to returning.

We had a great stay at Brendan’s property.
Me and my family spent 2 weeks in the apartments at the 2nd and 3rd floor. They are twin apartments, both of which have a spacious living room and kitchen area at the entrance, 3 bedrooms with king beds, and 1 bathroom. We were 10 adults with 2 children (so 6 people in each apartment): with some organization and showers scheduling, we never felt like there wasn’t enough space. The apartments are fully equipped with anything that a family on a trip could require. They are very new, clean, functional, modern, and nicely decorated. Brendan himself is extremely nice and responsive.
About the location: the J line is 7 minutes distance walking, and Manhattan is reachable within 40-50 minutes by metro. We purchased the 7-day unlimited subway pass for $32 and we didn’t have any problems with the transportation. The area is residential, with plenty of small stores and supermarkets around.
We had two minors problems with the apartments:
1. At our arrival, we found some of the towels provided were stained. The towels were actually clean, just some stains hand’t washed away. Brendan was kind enough to order new towels for us from Amazon that were delivered the day after. Problem solved!
2. After a few days in, one of the two Wifi networks stopped working, so one of the apartment was without connection. Brendan was very responsive about the issue and immediately contacted the company, but the problem was not solved before our departure. It didn’t help the fact that this happened around New Year’s Eve.
Apart from these minor setbacks, we had a great stay at Brendan’s place. I would come here again and I definitely recommend it!

If you are looking for a great affordable place near Manhattan don't hesitate to book! We were able to stay here over the Thanksgiving break with some friends of ours and it was wonderful. We had some bad luck with another VRBO and last minute found Brendan's place and we're so lucky we did. Its a short walk to the subway stop and a quick ride into the city. The beds were nicer than many hotels I've stayed in and had great sheets and a tv in every room. I can be picky about how clean and updated things are when we go on vacation and this definitely passed my test. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed to make the kids breakfast or dinner if we didn't grab some in the city. The bathrooms were modern, clean and very nice. Brendan was very accommodating and kind, you can tell he takes great care of the property and his guests. I couldn't recommend this duplex more!

This was a great place and easily worth 4 stars. A few things to keep in mind though... we had 8 adults and 2 children. It is effectively 2 3BR apartments. It was a tight fit to get everyone together in one place. This was not unexpected but keep this in mind. I was concerned about the fact that there is only 2 bathrooms but with a little scheduling logistics, it was minimal impact even with our 10 people. Brendan, the owner, was a little slow in getting me information about the place - after several requests to send me the information, I received the info 1 day before I left my house . Since I was planning an intermediate stop on the way there, this caused a little angst. Brendan did seem genuinely eager to help when asked. It is an easy walk to the brown line (which almost will assuredly need to transfer from) and a long walk or short drive to the blue line. We quickly determined this (blue) was the better way for getting to the city.

Our group of 11 loved our stay in Brendan's newly renovated townhouse. It's clean, fixtures are nice and up-to-date, Wi-Fi works, comfortable beds, air conditioned, cable TV enabled, full kitchen, and fully stocked linens and things. It's a 2 minute walk to the subway. There's a Bodega Store steps away from the front door, and a bus stop right around the corner.
For our week-long stay, we bought a 7-day unlimited use MTA card to go along with our New York Pass (access to 100's of attractions) and we definitely got our money's worth. Cars aren't essential for a terrific stay in the NYC.
Neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, but our interactions with the locals was nothing but pleasant and friendly! Since the nearest laundry mat is about .5 miles away, I recommend bringing a folding cart with you if you can.
Brendan was a great host and was there when we needed him. We appreciate his generosity and truly appreciate the value we received for our stay in New York. I would book this place again without regret.

When I first got to the unit I was expecting something beautiful but we got in return was way more than ever imagined. I came to Brooklyn for my birthday I have friends flying in from Chicago LA and Minnesota. When we open the doors our Jaws dropped everything was immaculate, the king beds were super comfortable and the communication with the host was absolutely great. The only thing we didn't like is that we had to go home lol! I will definitely be returning in my future trips to New York!!!
