We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cabin. All was in great working order throughout our stay. We especially liked our private mountain top surroundings while still being so close to Black Mountain and its restaurants. And as always we made a few trips into Asheville to our favorite spots (easy interstate under an hour).

This was our first VRBO in more than a decade, and it truly won us over. It was First-Class in every aspect— 1) IMPECCABLE cleanliness (inside AND outside!), 2) Well-stocked, Kitchen: for daily cooking-tools & spices/accessories; Comfort: linens, blankets, towels, and ALL “starter” needs—very, very thoughtfully done. 3) Elegant tasteful and comfortable decor/beds—no clutter, 4) Excellent Host: very responsive and kind, helpful. We had an absolutely great visit! This cabin has gorgeous views, privacy, comfort, tranquility, and a nice layout for having adult guests with separate quarters. Highly recommend and will definitely return. We enjoyed the town, and nearby Montreat, and several hikes all within 15-20minutes. Convenient shopping & restaurants, even though we didn’t need them, The area has so much natural beauty. Thanks, Mike, for such a special place—a real standout!

Cabin was exactly as described. Quiet neighborhood with plenty to do. Close to Black Mountain and a short drive to Asheville. My kids loved exploring the mountain side and i loved the peace and quiet. I would definitely come back again. The host was quick to respond and everything was what we expected.

We had such a wonderful time staying at Mitchell view. This was our first trip into the Blue Ridge Mountains, but it certainly won’t be our last! I would stay here again, in a heartbeat. Not only was the house, beautiful and cozy at the same time, but it was well equipped. Our children had a great time playing with the air hockey table, and we all enjoyed the hot tub with amazing views! We ended up needing to contact the owner because our car died while we were there. He couldn’t have been more responsive or helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone!

The house was perfect. Clean and ready to go when we got there. Fun with a bunch of games to play. You could explore the nearby creek and play on the tire swing. It’s close to downtown Black Mountain for restaurants and shopping. And not too far away from Asheville to visit there too. Communication with the host was always easy and quick. Thanks!

Our entire family really enjoyed our time at the cabin. It was the perfect size for what we needed and provided great spaces for being together and also enough space for private reflection. The view was beautiful and we loved having our morning coffee out on the spacious deck… so amazingly peaceful. We had one small issue with ants outside on the porch and the Management Service sent someone out that day and we didn’t see anymore ants the rest of the trip. We really appreciate how lovely everything was and how well organized. We had a great time and we’re able to share some great family experiences. We even had our own fire pit to make s’mores! Thank you for the fantastic experience, we plan to rent here again. Highly recommend!

Home was clean and comfy with plenty of room. Decks were great and the hot tub was fantastic.

This property was great for my husband, myself and 3 grown sons. The views were outstanding! the house was as described and even better in person.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks working remotely from this cabin and enjoying what the area has to offer. This cabin is remote enough where you feel disconnected, but close enough to Black Mountain, Lake Lure, and Ashville so there’s a lot to do. The internet in this cabin is excellent- there were 3 of us on zoom calls at the same time- no problem! The on-property hiking trails and stream were really nice… perfect for taking the dogs on a quick walk through the woods.

We rented for a long weekend mid-December and were hoping for a holiday trip...to the Grove Park Inn for the gingerbread display and to Biltmore. We arrived to the cabin at night and the directions were key and spot on. When we pulled up, there was a huge, colorfully lit wreath hanging on the exterior and plenty of outdoor lighting for us to unpack and settle in. Once we were inside, the whole place was decorated for Christmas complete with a tall, live tree! It was magical! We LOVED the location of the cabin and the layout of the cabin. We appreciated the firewood and really enjoyed the hot tub as well! All amenities were great and all of us ages 14 - 76 would love to come back. Comfortable beds, nice clean bathrooms, a beautiful view. We took advantage of the hikes mapped out around the property and that was perfectly convenient and very pretty. I can't say enough though about the Christmas feel...it really made our family getaway so much more special. Thank you so much!!

We rented Mitchell View for thanksgiving week. We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was super clean and had plenty of room for our family of 5 and our dog. The grounds were a great bonus, we enjoyed hiking the trails. The road accessing the cabin was totally doable for our 2 wheel drive vehicle. Highly recommend High Rock Rentals.

Mike was great at communicating prior to our mountain trip, and everything was absolutely lovely!

Mitchell View was the perfect location for our summer vacation. The secluded location and gorgeous mountain views made us feel like we were really away from it all, but we were close enough to still have easy access to all the action. We came to the area to visit Asheville for the first time, but we had no idea Black Mountain was such a lovely town to explore in its own right. And Route 9 was a gorgeous drive when we were short on time and couldn't spend time on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This property goes above and beyond in every way. Communication with the owner was easy at every step. We were thrilled to find a generous pet policy that allowed us to bring our three dogs. The house itself is a paradise with ample space and amenities. The dual wrap-around decks are amazing for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The house was very clean and well-maintained, as was the hot tub which we loved using daily. We cannot wait to visit Highrock again. Thank you for an amazing vacation!

Let's start with the basics. If you are looking for absolute peace and solitude, a place where the only sound you'll hear is a nearby creek and maybe some birds, where it is pitch black at night except for the moon and stars, than this place is for you. It's hard to describe just how rare it is to not hear *anything* that isn't natural. As others have pointed out, you can only see one other house and it was off in the distance. What you will see are far off Mountain vistas that you will never get used to because of their beauty, along with lush carpets of green trees. It is a truly remarkable experience. When we arrived, the place was immaculate - probably the cleanest VRBO I've ever been to. You might be concerned because it's pet friendly and you have allergies. Don't be. We have allergies and they were not triggered at all. The cleaning crews do an excellent job. The hot tub was super-clean. Everything you need to cook and eat is there, but bring your own food and cooking items like aluminum foil. The supermarket at the bottom of the hill, Ingles, is the biggest supermarket I've ever seen and has real (as opposed to tourist) pricing, so that's a must stop and it's easier to hit Ingles before ascending to the house. The road leading up to the house is no joke. You'll put the address into your GPS and wonder how it could possibly take so long to go the last 1.6 miles. It was like nothing we ever experienced - a steep, steep gravely, rocky road up the mountain to Mitchell View, and going down was no picnic either but, believe it or not, you'll get used to it. My AWD Subaru Legacy had no real problems, nor did my friends Hyundai Sonata. Winter might be trickier. We like our electronic gadgets and as the description points out, AT*T cell service was not available at the house. The wi-fi wasn't very good, either - about 10mb/sec download speeds which was enough (barely) to carry a video stream and surf the web. The wi-fi cut out a few times a day for seemingly no reason but was reasonably reliable aside from that. There are short walking trails throughout high acres but if you're looking for a workout, just go for a walk on the roads to some of the neighboring properties. You'll get a workout... Our host was fabulous. He answered all questions promptly, completely and honestly. In summary, I wouldn't hesitate recommending this VRBO. We had a great time!

My friends and I absolutely loved Mitchell View! Driving up to the house for the first time you realize how truly secluded it is. The last 1.5 miles of road was all gravel and there were some pretty steep hills - I would definitely recommend AWD/4WD vehicle all year round. There is only one other cabin visible from the deck and it is pretty far away - I highly recommend you appreciate how easy it is to see the stars - it was beautiful! The house itself was a great size. It comfortably fit 6 of us. We used the hot tub every night and it warmed up really fast. One thing to mention is that the hot tub was definitely overfilled - with even 2 of us the water started overflowing. Being in the middle of the woods we thought bugs would be an issue but we were pleasantly surprised that they weren't bad at all. We did have the power go out in the main floor bedroom but Mike was very quick to respond and it was an easy fix! The house was realistically a 15 minute drive from Black Mountain and about 30 minutes from downtown Asheville. We definitely recommend Mitchell View cabin and we would happily book again if we are ever back in the area. Thanks Mike!

We enjoyed our stay at the Mitchell View cabin! The property and hiking trails are beautiful and the close proximity to the town of Black Mountain was perfect. We were able to explore many towns, mountain trials, witness beautiful sunrises, sunsets, visit downtown Asheville and so much more! It was a perfect spot for our family to unwind, appreciate nature, and discover new places - our dog loved it too!

Great property. Plenty to do at the cabin. Close to Blue Ridge and a variety of hiking options. Close to Asheville and all the city has to offer. Perfect balance of quiet getaway and access to restaurants and entertainment.

Very nice well equipped home with a nice view. Very quiet and relaxing. Had lots of games and reliable Internet access and plenty of firewood. Would highly recommend arriving daylight as it is difficult to find in the dark. Also no cell coverage

Five of our family celebrated my wife's birthday. The atmosphere of the property, character of the log cabin, variety of game activities, location of the hot tub, and tentativeness of host Mike: all easily five stars. This has been alluded to in other posts and Mike emphasized this point as well - plan on AWD or FWD during winter stays. We had one AWD and one 2WD. Prior to the snow and freezing temperatures, both vehicles made it to the property with no problem. We parked the 2WD at the ~1.2 mile entrance prior to the snow, and we were glad we did. It worked great! We will return; could not have asked for anything any better. Thank you, Mike!

Fantastic mountain retreat! Perfect cabin, has everything you need for your mountain escape. Trails on property well maintained and Dakota our lab loved the creek. Our timing was spot on for peak Fall foliage! Black Mountain stones throw away with grocery and dining. Views from the cabin exceptional and beautifully maintained property, Mike works hard to give you a great mountain experience. We really appreciated the firewood at the property, we are frequent mountain renters and have never had it supplied before, this is a nice touch! We will definitely return!!
