Compact cottage in the perfect location in Looe. Well-appointed kitchen, everything you need and more, bijou sitting room on the 2nd floor, with a toilet and shower room off it. Great shower pressure. Bedroom on top floor has ample storage and large bed. Good communication from our host and the caretaker on arrival. Yards from the beach and 30 seconds from the centre of Looe. Perfect week for a couple.
6.0 / 10.0
Lovely location close to beach and amenities, the property could do with some maintenance TLC. The shower leaked because sealant needs replacing in the shower tray causing water to come through the ceiling into the kitchen, the outside pipe work leaks and the front door does not feel secure

Cottage is well described in online brochure. Stairs are steep - need care at our age!
No frozen food compartment in the fridge? But an ice maker provided? Curious.
Overall we had a great time in Looe - thank you.

Once the initial surprise of the stairs wore off it was great. Very clean, very comfortable stay. Bathroom a little small but as only me staying wasn't an issue. Ideal location for beech and town.
10.0 / 10.0
The house was in a brilliant location - very quiet little alleyway literally one minute from the beach, the shops and the quayside. It made the holiday really easy as it was so convenient.
The house was very nice, well decorated and furnished. Please note that the stairs are extremely narrow and steep and even being fit and agile, it was a little bit scary particularly when carrying luggage upstairs.
Some of the details online were different to some of the communication. There is a free allocated parking space at Millpond Car Park (10-15 minutes walk from the property) on some information it said you have to pay - you don’t. There is full free WiFi despite it saying there wasn’t any on several communications so that was a bonus.
The kitchen had the basics but as we love cooking there were a few things we’d like to have had (baking trays and oven dishes for example). But there was a kettle, toaster, lots of good knives, a cafetière and lots of crockery.
There wasn’t a lot of room in the bathroom as the sink was huge for such a tiny space, there was no lock on the door which was a bit annoying. You kept on knocking the door open when you are at the sink. Also, no plug! The towels supplied were good though a couple of bath sheets wouldn’t have gone amiss.
Everything was very well presented, decorated and very clean. On leaving we were unable to put our rubbish in the bin as it had a combination lock and there was no number provided.
We would have loved a seat outside in the lane instead of the plants!
Communication was pretty good though a bit slow and all the instructions were very clear. The online details need updating.
We had a very nice stay and enjoyed being there. All in all it was a very lovely stay indeed.

Very pretty cottage within walking distance of beach and shops .
8.0 / 10.0
The location of the property is excellent just seconds from the beech, shops, resaurants, pubs everything at hand. The parking permit is a bonus although you have to walk for it but its not that far if you are in good health otherwise it is a walk. The cottage was very quaint, the stairs are very steep so if you have difficulty with stairs it's not for you. The bathroom is very small, found it very hard to dry myself and dress in there and had to dress in the living area. The sink is very big for the bathroom and it takes up alot of space. The cottage was clean but the bed linen could do with a boil wash as they had a musty smell to them like when you walk into a charity shop. The bottle of cleaner in the bathroom what was meant to have bathroom cleaner in it, it was supposed to be pink stuff on the bottle but it had bleach in it not what it said. The cottage had everything you need in it for a lovely holiday just needs a couple of bits tweeking for me like I explained, the ice maker was brilliant make sure you use it. I am going to invest in one found it very useful. I also noticed that none of the electric appliances hadn't been pad tested and the hair drier needs replacing as it is overheating and is glowing red when you use it.

Cottage was amazing, spotlessly clean, so close to the beach so not far to carry your bits and pieces, ideal for eateries and pubs, would definitely stay here again.

Perfect position, 2mins from beach. Huge comfortable bed. Great free parking over the bridge. Bathroom very small and difficult to manoeuvre, needs a lock too, as the door swings open everytime you try to move. Stairs are difficult to manage if you have any physical restrictions.
10.0 / 10.0
The cottage was very close to the beach and convenient to walk out and go for a swim first thing before the beach filled up with holiday makers. As described the cottage is cosy and over 3 floors and you need to be okay with climbing up and down the narrow, steep stairs with a turn in them. The kitchen is well equipped, there is even an ice maker, but there is no freezer of freezer space in the fridge which was tricky as we had brought some supplies for the freezer . The bathroom has a decent shower and a heated towel rail. I agree with some of the reviews that the sink is quite large for the room and gets in the way when you get in and out of the shower. The bedroom has a comfy bed and a wardrobe and dressing table with a hair dryer supplied. There is a small thing to be aware of - the wooden key box juts out and we both knocked our heads on it at different times when straightening up from loading the dish washer - it would be a good idea to move the box to the left or move it higher up - which would stop this from happening. Overall we had a good week and this cottage was a good base for us.

Got engaged!!
Absolutely amazing time.perfect location, great communication between us and the owners. Even though it’s a tiny cottage it was perfect Size, and very cute and quirky which we wanted over modern.
The only let down and disappointment was the fact the cottage was very unclean…
The bathroom was very dirty, hairs on shower rack, toilet and sink dusty and unclean.. floors gritty ,went to hoover and found vacuum blocked..
Looking back over reviews this has been a regular complaint..
If we could guarantee it was up to a cleaner standard, we would highly recommend and use you again..
As we had a great time with the added bonus of getting engaged..
Kind regards

Great Location.
Lovely location. Perfect for exploring Looe and for getting up to watch sunrise from the beach.

Disappointed.
I wanted to love this property but it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly for quite some time - thick accumulated dust in corners of stairs, skirting boards, ledges, shelves and mouldy bread in bread bin, dust covered bread maker, I could go on - would have been a good candidate for 'Four in a bed' programme. Very tricky stairs which had no working lights so dangerous and you need to be 'smallish' to execute them and the bathroom - almost impossible to wash and dry oneself without having the door to the sitting room open.
To be fair the House Manager and Peter did their best by replacing one light and getting a cleaner in to go over some of it again but what it really needs is a thorough deep clean and some repairs - hole in kitchen ceiling held together by parcel tape!!
Rather disappointing for my first holiday in 3 years.

Absolutely brilliant property with a perfect location. Had everything you could ask for, very comfortable and an ideal location.

Three floors, three rooms, as expected. We got used to the staircase but you need to be fit.
Lots of effort has been put into furnishing this tiny cottage but it would be easily improved by taking away two superfluous chairs from the kitchen to allow you to get your knees under the table. So many sharp knives on the kitchen wall make it look like an abattoir. Biggest drawback is the large round basin in the shower room which takes up too much room and doesn't have a plug so you can't have a wash in it, only clean your teeth. Nice bedroom, and overall a cute cottage for two in a really convenient place for beach and shops.

Would definitely stay again. Stairs are steep, but did get used to them, as long as you have full mobility. Bed really comfy, and kitchen had everything you would need. 5☆

Looe stay
Great location for Looe. The cottage is great for 2 people with everything to hand. The stairs maybe a problem to the elderly or anyone with mobility problems.

Cosy Fisherman's Cottage near the beach
The cottage is ideally placed in Looe. Just back from the beach, and secluded enough that the only noise you might get is from the gulls.
There are a couple of nice coastal walks nearby, and there are lots of places to eat and drink nearby (Catch is great for fish and chips), plus a great fishmongers.
Only thing I'd say is that being a fisherman's cottage, it's 3 rooms situated over 3 floors, and the stairs are quite narrow and a little steep (though there are bannisters and hand-rails) in case you're not into that kind of thing.
Other than that, highly recommended

Small cosy and just Perfect
Loved this property a real home from lots of hand wash, soaps and cleaning products provided, didn't feel like a normal property let. When we arrived into Looe followed the instructions to the house dropped our luggage off then popped back to the parking bay, its a good ten minute walk but we did our big shop on the way to Looe so were all set up for the first few days. First impression's what a lovely clean well equipped cottage washer dryer, ice making machine plenty of crockery just perfect, we were a little worried about the stairs as they are so steep but after a couple of days we had it mastered. I loved being right in town, walking round the harbour after tea, beach, shops, restaurants everything on your doorstep. I would highly recommend this cottage if I could change or add anything maybe a small bistro table and chairs for outside and a more powerful shower :)

Great Location but not a clear description
The position of this cottage is perfect. I do not recall any mention of the property being over three floors, the incredibly steep staircases and the tiny bathroom, my partner was unable to dry himself in the bathroom and hit his knees on the radiator when using the loo and he is fairly tall but not overly large. That being said the property had good kitchen facilities (we only cooked breakfast) and was perfectly adequate for our 3 night stay. Visible dust around the property particularly on the stairs and dirty corners in the bathroom,

Great location
We loved Looe and the parking space was a great added bonus. We knew the property had steep stairs between each floor but every inch of space was used effectively and it was nicely decorated, if a little ‘busy’.
It is unfortunate we have to report that it wasn’t very clean, with big balls of dust on the floor, the back of the loo seat, the shelving in kitchen etc. My husband has asthma and every morning when we got up he’d have huge sneezing fits!
Understand the place is too small and awkward for a normal hoover, but a hand-held one would be ideal.
We also left a message for Dilly on arrival about the ice maker not working, but never got an acknowledgement.
Finally, the mattress is very lumpy.
All that said, we had a lovely time in Looe and the location of the property couldn’t have been better.

A quirky and characterful cottage in a terrific location.
Well equipped, and within walking distance of a lovely beach and harbour, and plenty of good places to eat.
It wasn't easy to find as the directions were a bit vague. The key point that wasn't clear is that after turning right (as you have to) at the end of the one-way Middle Market Street, you then need to take the very next turning on the right, with the church on your left and ignoring the sign that says "Unsuitable for motors". You then park by the far end of the church, and the cottage is just along the street in front of you, on the right-hand side.
The bed is quite comfortable if a little lumpy. The stairs are very steep and very narrow.
Excellent to have a reserved parking spot, even if the parking permit was out of date. Dilly the caretaker assured us that there wouldn't be a problem, and there wasn't.
The cottage has wi-fi, although the information we were sent says both that it does and that it doesn't. The signal is strong and easily enough to stream video - a good thing because the Freeview signal is quite poor.
Things to get out and do:
- Boat trip from Looe Harbour, round St George's Island. Moderate value at £9 per person for a 45-minute trip.
- The Hurlers stone circles, and nearby Trethevy Quoit and King Doniert's Stone, near Minions on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Well worth the visit, beautiful countryside and impressive ancient stones. Free parking and access.
- Scenic Looe Valley railway to Liskeard. A beautiful journey; but at the other end the centre of Liskeard is really not worth the 15-minute walk from the station. Especially on a Sunday (when we did it) as almost nothing is open, and the same appears to be the case on bank holidays.
Recommended places to eat:
- Sarah's pasty shop serves pasties that are as good as any we have ever had.
- The Plough on the Quay - we enjoyed this so much, we went there twice. It's important to book though, especially at the weekend.
- The Smuggler's Cott.
- Catch for fish and chips.
- We also enjoyed 'do it yourself' cream teas, using absolutely fantastic scones from Martin's Dairy bakery (opposite the car park at the eastern end of the bridge).

Cozy cottage, perfect for a romantic getaway
The cottage is adorable and exactly how it looks in the pictures. It is spotlessly clean (I even checked under the bed!) and well kept.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped for dining in and very spacious.
The staircase is tiny (as you would expect from a fishermans cottage) so I couldn't take my huge suitcase upstairs but this was not a problem as it tucked away neatly in the kitchen.
The bathroom is also on the small side (again to be expected from a fishermans cottage) but is immaculately clean. We did find that we were unable to close the bathroom window properly once we had opened it so perhaps this is something that might be addressed.
The living room is perfectly proportioned and is well stocked with a range of books and DVD's should you fancy staying in.
The bedroom was the best part of this cottage. So light and airy. The bed is very comfy and the bed linen is good quality. Larger than expected and a great amount of storage space.
The cottage is in a great location. Seconds from the sea, great pubs (The Bullers Arms is our firm favourite) and a fantastic Indian takeaway.
The communication and instructions for getting to the cottage and the parking was spot on. We had no issues in finding the property or our allocated parking space.
All in all we had an absolutely fantastic stay in Looe and would 100% recommend this property. We will definitely be returning :)

What a fantastic little cottage
From the fits of hysterics trying to get out suitcases up the narrow and steep staircases right through to the fun of bringing them down again we had a lovely time at Birds Nest Cottage. Fantastic location in the centre of Looe, close to all the lovely restaurants. The cottage is excellently equipped with everything you could need during your stay. I can't recommend this place enough, just be prepared for the 5:30am seagull alarm call from the roofs of Looe.

birds next cottage
we had a good holiday thanks. There were a few issues with the accommodation you may want to address. The shower head needs replacing as it is leaking and makes showering tricky. Also the shower seems to be leaking onto the floor of the kitchen as there was water on the floor of the kitchen after a shower. One of the chairs in the living is broken so you cannot sit on it and needs replacing. Ian
