We had an incredible stay at a wonderful property full of history!
The property has everything you can ask. Danielle and Karine from property management are very polite and friendly and always ready to assist. Same goes for the Countess of Tocqueville and her family!
Location is very convenient to all Normandie historic, natural and WWII locations.
Tennis court and the grounds are great and bikes are also available. Couldn’t have asked more from our hosts, the property and our stay. Thank you!

Our stay at the Tower was simply wonderful from beginning to end. Upon our arrival we were briefly greeted by the lovely family of the owner. They were so gracious, and they made us immediately feel welcomed and relaxed. They were leaving on holiday the following day, so it was very thoughtful of them to personally greet us. Now, there are not enough superlatives to adequately sing the praises of Mme. Phillapart! She is the tower manager and was beyond helpful with dinner reservations, the hiring of a chef for one evening and any other information or assistance that we needed during our stay. The Tower is beautifully and comfortably decorated and the grounds are exquisite. We especially enjoyed sitting out under the beaming full moon that we enjoyed during our time there. Our only regret is that we were not there longer, but it is our plan to return. In the meantime, the memories are sterling! Thank you for this wonderful piece of our journey.

The ultimate week in France
Excellent in all ways. Beautiful building - fabulous setting - great people with interesting stories. Val de Saire full of opportunities to keep one entertained close by.
Only suggestion for improvement is improved outdoor furniture- as Australians we prefer to enjoy the landscape than sitting inside.

One of a kind experience! Incredible property!
A memorable experience staying at the chateau! The property and the chateau are absolutely beautiful. We had three generations along and everyone had a great time. Convenient for travel to the D-Day beaches and Mont St. Michel. The host helped us organize two dinners at the chateau - one catered dinner from a nearby restaurant and a second meal with a chef. Cannot recommend enough!

Incredibly good
This was without a doubt the best place I've ever had the pleasure to rent. The pictures don't even do justice to the sheer grandeur of the place, which is a period chateau, but renovated to the highest standards. Everything (including the lift) works perfectly, the bathrooms are very well appointed and spotless, linen and towels are provided and are so beautiful, the bedrooms and the salon feature period furniture that's not just beautiful to look at but is actually functional as well, the kitchen and dining facilities allow you to host four-course-meals for 12 (with matching tableware of course), the outside areas, including the tennis court, are well maintained, there's daily housekeeping, Danielle the guest manager will come round every day - she's incredibly helpful and speaks perfect English. Tons of activities nearby, from visiting little harbor towns like Barfleur to seeing the landing beaches and the Bayeux tapestries, all a maximum 90 mins drive away.
And it's child-friendly, too - the kids enjoyed the tennis court, playing hide and seek in a castle, and for entertainment on cold rainy days there's a home cinema on the top floor. Everyone in our party, from age 5 to age 79, agreed that this was the best place they've ever been to on holiday.
Needless to say, I recommend this place and would book again.

Delightful!
Beautiful country chateau on charming and well maintained grounds. The chateau is elegant, well appointed, clean, and comfortable (including modern bathrooms) . Most importantly though was the warm welcome we received from our kind and gracious hosts, Corrine, Danielle and the Tocqueville family. We look forward to another vacation in the luxurious Chateau de Tocqueville.

A special place whether you are touring or just relaxing. Enjoy a wonderful breakfast. The property is well appointed and the beds were so comfortable.
Communication great!
Expect that you are remote, but that’s the charm. Danielle made us feel at home and was a wealth of knowledge on the history and local.
Especially loved Honfleur, Mont St Michele and Rouen

This Chateau is off the charts everything anyone could dream off. To celebrate my 60th birthday me and 5 of my girlfriends spent eight glorious enchanting days here. I had to pinch myself a few times to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. The property is aprx. 13 acres and then spans several more acres that they rent out to farmers for cattle grazing. The house inside is right out of the “Pride and Prejudice” movie...I kept expecting Mr. Darcy to materialize! There are bikes (a vast array in many sizes) on the property for which we took advantage of biking to the ocean and the small village of Barfleur while stopping to pick blackberries on the way back. There is a also a tennis court on the property! The attendants Danielle and Corinne were extremely helpful and were so personable and fun. They would arrive in the morning to check on us and ask if we needed anything...fresh towels or our rooms cleaned. Any questions we had were happily answered which made our trip around the area even more enjoyable. We hired Corinne to Chef for us a couple of nights and I can’t tell you how good everything was. I took pictures so I could cook her dishes at home! The beautiful Countess Stephanie came one night to meet all of us. What a wonderful thoughtful thing to do and so meaningful. It was also exciting to learn about Alexis de Tocqueville who was best known for his works “Democracy in America and “The Old Regime” also “Revolution”. To think that we were actually staying in his house was truly amazing! This is a bucket list trip people! I’m planning on going back again for I so so miss it!!

Historical and peace-filled vacation
Chateau Tocqueville was enchanting. Welcoming, like being at home in this beautiful place. Danielle,, the housemanager, is a true historian, and supplied us with an oral timelined history of Tocqueville, while giving us a tour of the quarters, especially the library of Alexis. Corrine, the housekeeper and chef, made us lovely complete breakfasts and a very Normand meal the first night we arrived, in front of the roaring fire. Bedrooms and all of our part of the chateau were just as described in the VRBO literature. The Count and Countesse, and three of their children were at the Chateau for the weekend and spent some time with us before returning to Paris. Perfect!!!

The entire experience for our group was excellent
Besides the beautiful facility & location, the staff & owner were extremely pleasant, efficient & accommodating.
If we ever have the opportunity to return to France - Alexis de Tocqueville will be high on our list of places to stay.
Thank you, Ellie

We spent the prior week in Paris where we had a great time. We never expected to top our Paris experience. Our arrival to the chateau transported us to a magical place. The pavilion was perfectly kept, decorated with period items and fully updated with modern conveniences. The property manager,Danielle ,was informative, gracious, and accommodating. the chateau is in close proximity to the landing beaches of the 2nd WW and Mont st. Michelle.
The nearby towns are very graphic and we intend to return to the chateau to see them in their spring and or summer colors.
We miss it already.
