The hosts are extremely nice and friendly. They've helped us when in need and fixed anything that needed to be fixed in short time. Absolutely recommended!

We loved the big veranda, the view and watching the weaver bird building its nest. Amazing. And the ample space of the cottage itself made a wonderful stay.

Its spacious, clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, a separate lounge / dining room, and a long balcony that offered a great view of the Melville kopje and the trees in bloom below. The bed was large, warm and very comfortable. Wi-fi was strong throughout the cottage. The location was great - quiet but within a few minutes' walk to the quirky cafes / restaurants on 7th Street. Laura and Walter, the hosts, were very friendly and helpful.

Hot water pressure was low sometimes, probably due to the power cuts affecting the pumping of water into the reservoirs.

Laura and her husband were very nice and welcoming. She explained the functioning and distribution of the place and answered all our doubts very kindly. The place is exactly as shown in the pictures. There are amazing views from the terrace and there is a chargable light that helps a lot when electricity drops. The place is very big and comfortable. We had a short but excellent stay!

No complaints! Even though the distribution of the rooms is a bit unusual, there is more than enough space. It was also a bit cold in the apartament, but there were lots of blankets around the house.

The apartment is really comfortable and nice in a safe area. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming people. I would love to go back there again :)

The bed was in a very poor condition Found it difficult to sleep. The fridge was faulty and froze water and food even at the lowest setting

Laura and Walter were just amazing. They accommodated our late check in and were hands on with any issues we had during our stay. They made sure we were happy and comfortable. We really enjoyed working on the balcony because of the view which we did not expect so that was a bonus.

I am a long-time traveller and I have been in hundreds of accommodations all around the world. "La Couronne" in Melville is definitely one of the best places I have ever been. Laura and Walther are amongst the greatest, most trustful, and likeable hosts I have ever met! They offer help that goes farther than anything you would expect. For example, Laura drove me to a warehouse at the other end of Johannesburg to pick up my motorcycle. She also went to her bank to get US Dollars for me, which is not easy for a non-resident – without wanting me to pay in advance. They did everything possible to make my stay comfortable. And whenever I wanted my privacy, they did not disturb. But more than that, they made me feel like I was part of the family. They invited me for a traditional Braai in their yard, and Walther took me to his bowling club for a couple of games. Chatting with both of them was always a lot of fun. As if all this would not be enough, the cottage itself is clean and perfectly equipped, offering a huge balcony with a stunning view over the Melville Koppies. It is quiet for a good sleep, but at the same time located in one of the best areas of Johannesburg. You'll find plenty of wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars only 100 meters away. Supermarkets are within walking distance, approx. five blocks away. The area seemed quite safe to me. All descriptions of the cottage at booking.com were accurate. To be honest, I would rate "La Couronne" with a 15 if possible, because it outrates all other places I have rated 10 in the past. I highly, highly recommend this place for any type of stay in Johannesburg. It felt like a home away from home. Thank you Laura and Walther for your amazing and warm hospitality!

The location was great, there was no breakfast. Enjoyed mountain hiking which is like 10 minutes away from the cottage.

We didn't have any toilet paper in the bathroom. We found less than half in the bathroom.

The view from the terrace was gorgeous! Aunt Laura and Uncle Walter are incredible hosts who really went beyond to accommodate my stay. They were extremely hospitable which I appreciated and even went as far as to assist me with issues that I had at the time with my pc. The facilities were great and had everything I needed and more. I enjoyed my stay so much that I extended it twice!

Laura and Walter are the perfect hosts. This was my second stay and I had a wonderful time. The cottage has everything you need, the facilities are exceptional and I can never get over that beautiful view. It feels like a second home and without a doubt, whenever I'm in Joburg this will always be my first choice.

Laura is an exceptional host and went out of her way to make me comfortable. The property is safe and secure and the place is absolutely stunning. The view is so beautiful and there's everything you could possibly need in terms of facilities. The neighbourhood is calm and safe, shops are nearby. Definitely coming back.

My partner and I were very happy with the warm welcome from the host. Laura went an extra mile of ensuring that we felt at home. I couldn’t be happier with the calming setting of the place and friendly service. It is so peaceful, clean and I felt safe. Despite the cold weather, I also loved the balcony view at night.
