We enjoyed staying at Thorsgata. Ideal location across the street from Hallgrimskirkja. Walkable to many cafes, restaurants, and shops. Accurate description. Well appointed, clean, and spacious apartment. On-site parking was very helpful. On-site laundry facilities. Great communication with the host with clear instructions and local recommendations. Highly recommended for your Reykjavík visit!

We loved this flat and will definitely try to stay there whenever we are in Reykjavik. The communication with the property manager could have been better, but once we were there everything was perfect. The location is ideal for exploring Reykjavik. We highly recommend this VRBO!

We spent the 2nd half of our trip to Iceland at this apartment. It was the perfect spot for us to be able to walk around downtown Reykjavik, and also do a day trip to some sites along the south coast. This property is amazing. It is centrally located. Has everything you need. If you plan on taking tours, bus stop is right there and you can walk to almost everything you need to in Reykjavik. Kjartan was great!

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. As previous visitors have noted, it was conveniently located near Bus Stop #8, not to mention right around the corner from a small convenience store (open 24/7), wonderful cafes, restaurants and bars. Kjartan was easy to reach and very helpful with information upon our arrival. We weren't crazy about the bathroom (the shower lacked a full enclosure and was a bit precarious to get in and out of), but it wasn't too bad. We also weren't provided with much in the way of toilet paper or paper towels, so needed to get more of those, as well as find extra linens (towels and pillows) in the hallway closet. On the whole, though, it was a great apartment.

Was easy access to everything in central Reykjavik. The apartment was well stocked and comfortable beds, with great blackout blinds.

we knew this place looked amazing from the pictures but seeing in person was even better. Not only is it modern and clean and beautifully decorated, but this location cannot be beat! Absolutely everything is walkable and having the church across the street is a great first way to experience the city when you get in AND serves as the perfect marker to find your way around easily. The kitchen was full with everything you could need to cook some dinners, the beds were cozy, the windows are big and bright, the bathroom is lovely and the laundry area is very convenient. The host was great to work with and extremely accommodating for us when we arrived several hours earlier than check in. He even woke up early on his Saturday to let us in which was a game changer when you're traveling with littles and adjusting to the time change. We highly recommend staying here!

Thank you Kjartan. The 2 bedroom apartment was very clean, modern and comfortable. Great 2 bedroom layout with open spacious living space. Great to have a home away from home to relax and even eat some meals (restaurants are great but pricey and it’s great to have a well stocked kitchen (all the necessary kitchen cooking essentials and then some) to make some food and sit down to dinner with your fam/friends). Especially in between some of the long 8 to 10 hour tours and even just all the walking around city sightseeing...it so nice to have a place you feel comfortable in to relax and recharge. By the way this is the best location you could possibly get in Reykjavik. It’s across street from the Hallgrímskirkja Church which is not only beautiful inside and out and also when of the top places to visit in the city. It’s also at the top of the most booming neighborhood where all the great shops, restaurants, coffee shops etc are. And by the way the church parking lot across street is also City Bus Stop # 8 and almost every tour bus and even airport transfers pick up here so you essentially have door to door service if you are using buses, tour operators, etc. My biggest issue was that we didn’t have a few more days for some more tours and fun but hopefully will get back there again in near future !!!!

If I were going to be going to Reykjavik often I would not write such a glowing report as I would want it to be more available for myself. The apartment has a lot of light which was great in the summer and probably more important on the darker days. It is well appointed and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and even had things like coffee to get you started before you made it to the store. We ate out, many good restaurants close by, and cooked in as well. We actually had six people so needed to use the hide a bed in the living area. It was large and very comfortable. Owner was readily available and very nice. Another bonus was the parking space. We had two cars and there was actually on street parking as well. Love it all.

We rented the downtown apartment and the accommodations were amazing. Kjartan was a pleasure working with, as a fellow vrbo owner, we have high standards and he exceeded them all. The apartment is conveniently located right across from the church. You have bus stop 8 right across for easy pick up for all the tours . The best bakery right down the street for unreal crossiants each morning. Great bar/ restaurant around the corner Rok - we had a great family trip and it was made perfect by our host and his accommodations. Thanks for all the help Glenn

Stayed here for several nights. The place is very fresh and comfortable. Laundry and parking in the building is nice too. The Landlord was very easy to reach as well. Comfortable beds with nice closets so you don't have to work out of your suitcase. The Flat is awesome but the location was even better. Great eateries and places to have coffee or alcohol are just a minute walk away. The streets around the Flat are also pretty quiet. We did not have loud noise or loud passersby disturbing us in the night. I give it an A+

Four travelers – two couples - enjoyed this comfortable 2-bedroom apartment just across the street from Hallgrimskirkja - no matter where you are in Reykjavik, you have a beacon to find your way home. The apartment had all the amenities one needed as a base for exploring colorful Reykjavik and its many museums, coffee shops and restaurants, the harbor, Harpa Hall, etc. We became steady customers of the Brauð bakery just down the street with the best croissants outside Paris, and the cinnamon rolls etc. also kept us coming back daily. There’s a 24-hour market around the corner in case you need to pick up some emergency coffee creamer, but with Reykjavik Roasters on the way to the bakery – and so many other coffee shops in Reykjavik – maybe it’s something else you need. From Reykjavik it's an easy drive to author Harold Laxness home/museum, Gljufrasteinn, and on to the Golden Circle with Geysir geothermal area, the waterfall Gullfoss, and the UNESCO site Þingvellir National Park. Also a picturesque and easy drive south to Vik and the Black Sand Beach featuring breathtaking basalt columns, lava formations, towering cliffs, and caves. Borgarnes is an easy drive to the north, with a wonderful museum and café and near Borgarnes is an easy hike up to Grabrokargigar volcano craters and Gonguleidir waterfall. An excellent choice for location and for comfort.

Traveling to England via Icelandair, my family and I took advantage of the free stopover of up to 7 days. As time was short we decided on a quick 24 hour stopover in the capital of Reykjavik. After a bit of looking at places that were available, we decided on one of the properties owed by Kjartan. Email communication with Kjartan was easy and he answered our many questions about this property and the town in general. As time was limited we elected to have Kjartan pick us up at the airport for the drive into town. As a side note, the airport is located in the town of Keflavik which is about 45 minutes from Reykjavik. The airport is also currently being renovated, so things there are somewhat chaotic. On the drive in you can really appreciate the treeless windswept landscape. Kjartan gave us a quick tour around that was very helpful to get us oriented to the area. The property is centrally located with the large Hallgrimskirkja church diagonally across from the apartment. Across the us is a small walled sculpture garden attached to a museum that is a great place for a quiet respite from the noise of traveling. A very short walk will take you to Cafe Loki where you can indulge in Icelandic dishes and wonderful sampler platters. Around the corner is the Krambo 24, a little store with all the groceries you will need for your stay. The area around the property is filled with pubs, restaurants and shops. The area has a wonderful vibe to it and it is great for walking around as long as you don't mind walking uphill to get back to the apartment. Because of the properties' great location, if lost all you do is walk uphill to the church and there you are. The apartment is exactly as depicted in the website pictures. The mattresses were comfortable and even the sofa bed was ok as far as sofa beds go. The hot water had very slight sulfur smell, but that was not unpleasant. This is a result of the country's use of geothermal energy for hot water and heating. The cold water was wonderful and is said to be among the purest in world. On a practical note, credit cards are accepted almost everywhere and English is widely spoken. This was a good thing for us as while the language of Iceland is beautiful to hear, I believe trying to speak it would break my tongue. In closing, I want to say again that both this property and Kjartan were great. As a result, we are already planning a longer return next year to this amazing property and country!

The property is in a fantastic location, at the top of the main town centre area. It is walking distance also to the bus terminal where you can take all kinds of excursions and hire a car. The property was clean, warm and comfortable. The owner was helpful and replied to queries promptly. We would stay here again.
