Lovely setting. Comfortable house. We had everything we needed. Loved using the boats and fishing off the docks. Evening bonfires by the lake were popular. The carpet in the large bedroom needs to be replaced. Overall we had a wonderful time.

Home is quite old and “dated”. The owners need to spend some money …. Update furniture, beds and bedding, etc. The cleaners (if any) did terrible job getting it ready. The back porch and dock need work and the shed that stores the boating gear had doors that were falling off. Some door locks were broken. Has Great view.

This is a great home/vacation rental on Spider Lake. Well appointed with everything a family needs including dishwasher and laundry. A rowboat and kayaks were also provided! The outdoor deck and dock area have wonderful views and patio furniture. Indoor spaces also have lovely views, comfortable tasteful furniture and decor. Our children enjoyed fishing from the dock and from the boat. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our time at Birch Cove. The property was very clean and waking up with views of the lake each day was such a treat. We loved having access to the kayaks and exploring Spider Lake. Communication with the host (Susan) was excellent and she was very responsive. Can’t wait for our next visit. Thanks again, Susan!

It's a lovely spot on Spyder Lake about 20-25 minutes from Traverse City. The home was located on a no-wake cove of the lake, making it a quiet, restful, and somewhat private experience. The fishing was great and the home offered a rowboat and kayaks which we enjoyed very much. The uneven floors were the only item that was negative, especially since I had broken a bone in my ankle the week before. The uneven floor was also difficult for the rest of the guests too. Perhaps the property management company could mark the uneven spots.

Thank you Susan for making it easy with regards to booking and all communication for staying at your home. My husband and a couple of friends spent the extended Memorial Day weekend in TC. While we have been many times our friends had never been to TC ( as a kid we spent a bitnof time on Torch Lake and the TC/Petoskey area). Loved the loaction of the home on a quiet cove with beautiful views of the lake.
The home itself it cozy and well appointed. We had plenty of space for 4 adults and a small dog. A short drive to TC. We even were able to enjoy a fire by the lake one evening after exploring all day. Wish we had more time so we could have enjoyed the kayaks!
Susan was easy to reach for any questions. Home was extremely clean.
Hope to stay again at your home in the future!!

Absolutely perfect!

We had three adult couples and having only one key was not always the best when we went in different directions. The house was clean however the pet hair in some of the rooms caused some allergies to flare up for some of us. Good location and beautiful scenery and house had plenty of room.

Liked the closeness to Traverse City

The place was very nice and spacious. All of the rooms were clean and inviting. The views of the lake were beautiful and it was so nice to sit by the fire right by the water.
The host, Susan, was friendly and responsive to messages. While some places have a million chores to do before leaving, all that was asked of us on the way out was to leave it in the same good condition we found it in.
We really enjoyed our stay and would happily return for another trip!

A very comfortable house by the lake with plenty of room for all six of us to be close or spend time alone. The lakeside dock and deck were very popular.
Would rent here again, if we ever come back to the Traverse City area

We were in the area for a family wedding and Susan"s house was the perfect central location for what we needed to do. Plus very close to grocery shopping, farm stands (great!) and downtown TC. The kitchen in the house was well equipped and we appreciated having the extra refrigerator for cold drinks etc. A beautiful part of the world! Thanks Susan!

The house has plenty of space for the whole family and the location is great. The kids loved taking the kayaks out on the lake, even if it was raining a bit.

We took a quick trip up to Traverse City and we where not disappointed. Close to everything nearby yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of great food nearby as well as beautiful fall colors.

We felt like we were on our own private lake in our cove. It was so serene as we paddle boarded and fished from our pier. The fire pit along the shore topped off our evenings, along with yoga on the pier as the sun set. Our house was awesome, having several rooms to chill in, also overlooking the lake. Susan was very responsive and kind. This house and location were perfect.

We stayed in this house a couple of years ago and it was great but wow! They have made some really nice updates and improvements to the overall comfort of the home. It sits off a cove on Spider Lake which was nice and quiet but still plenty of boat watching. traverse city was a quick 20 minute drive where we could do all of our favorite things. We also took day trips to Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay and Leelanau! The house was very family friendly, comfortable and had everything you could need for a week at the lake. We will definitely book again!

Everything from check in to us leaving was amazing. Plenty of room, gorgeous view, fishing right out the back door. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Great property, there was a little bit of a musty smell, but didn't really effect the week. Walkway to water could use a good power wash, very slippery when wet! Inside was very clean all amenities were great, everything you could need! friendly owners who get back to you quickly! Only two Kayaks, but that was explained. Owner went out of their way to provide a license for row boat so we could put a motor on! Would definitely stay again! thanks for a great week!

Stayed for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The house is very clean and set on a nice piece of property, nestled in the no-wake cove of Spider Lake. There is plenty of room for all guests to sit and sleep comfortably. New appliances, grill, fire pit, all the amenities.
We really enjoyed that the master bedroom opens onto the deck. The owner is very responsive and left a book with a map of the lake and local convenience locations (very helpful). Dog friendly was a definite plus, and there was plenty of room outside.
The house is super close to downtown Traverse City, the wineries, lighthouses, and all the major TC attractions. We would stay here again for sure.

Nice cottage with ample sitting area
3.0 / 10.0
House is close to Traverse City, wineries and conveniences. House is in a cove and the lake traffic there is active but not wild. Main body of the lake is a good size. Owners are responsive and accommodating. There is a good stereo system inside and a good pizza place close by. Kitchen has everything you need with an extra fridge in the back. The cons: House did not appear to be very clean upon our arrival...which was extremely disappointing since we paid a cleaning fee. We definitely could tell there was a pet there before us. There was pet fur on the dining room table and all over the wood floor..almost like it wasn't swept. The portable fans included were filthy. Parts of the house are remodeled and some parts still old. We were there when it was really hot and had to have all the windows opened. Windows are old and some were hard to open. A few windows had broken glass and the screen door in the kitchen was ripped. Bathrooms are so so...one is updated but small the other is old and the fan didn't work. Mattresses are old but not horribly uncomfortable. You could have a fire in the fire pit outside but it was difficult to sit around since its on a slope. We found ourselves disappointed with the lack of care in minor repairs.

We made the most of it... house not very clean. Musty oder and some windows painted shut.... both sliding doors had rips in screens and also a few broken windows. Home I feel is over priced for the condition. Fire pit right at water edge on a hill... pointless
