We absolutely loved this house!!! It had everything we needed and more!! Lots of space for the 6 of us and the pup!!! We enjoyed sitting on the porch, flying kites on the beach, and everything!!!

View of the ocean, steps away from the beach and only 8 minutes from all the commercial activity of Nags head. The host was great - there was some big storms, wind when we came, and they were always responsive in minutes to help us figure everything out. The house held up great, we spent more time than we would have hoped inside, but the house was more than comfortable. Only thing I should have paid more attention to are the parking instructions - host said clearly that you need a 4x4 to get in the driveway, and after strong wind, there was even extra sand. But no problem, even without a 4x4 vehicle (after a tow) there is room to park one car on the street.

We had an excellent stay during Christmas break. The location was absolutely perfect. We would definitely like to come back to this property again!

The house is really cozy. Kitchen has a great layout and plenty of room. Bathrooms are a bit dated and small. Location is right on the beach. We visited around Christmas so couldn’t take advantage of the water toys, but it’s awesome they are there. Communication with host was great. Check in was simple. They even had dog bowls for pet family. Great experience!

My husband and I loved this house. It was well-decorated with all kinds of interesting beach art. The view was perfect, and the weather beautiful, except for one rainy day. We plan to return next year.

I was looking for a cozy cottage on the ocean and this home was exactly what I was looking for. We didn’t leave once and just enjoyed the sunrise each morning and listening to the waves at night.

This cottage was very clean and well appointed. The view from the deck was wonderful and the short walk to the beach was appreciated.

The place is great, working with the owner was easy and smooth. The only "issue" is the house is a bit older and a bit outdated. But you can't beat the location, right on the beach.

We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean and it had everything we needed. The property owners were terrific. We enjoyed just relaxing on the deck, crafting, reading and walking the beach. Overall a wonderful place to shake off the daily grind and kick up your feet. We are hoping we can find an opening to return next year that fits our schedule. Thank you so much for having us. PS: We left some of our dragon flies.

The property was exactly as advertised and very clean and in good condition. Jodie was a great host and even shipped clothing left behind at the property. I would highly recommend this location.

The Sandy Get Away was a great place to stay for a wonderful family vacation! Literally steps from the beach with great views. The description is accurate-4WD is a plus for staying here if there is a lot of wind blowing the sand around and parking only for 2-3 vehicles. Kitchen well stocked. Jodie is very responsive and helpful! Would absolutely stay here again!!

This was our first family vacation to the Outer Banks. This place is wonderful! The entire process was easy start to finish. The house is just right! Loved being able to walk down to the beach, sitting on the porch and doing some exploring! Highly recommend and hope to be back!

Every year my family and I rent a house on the beach somewhere. I have to say this has been the best house we have rented in the last 10 years of rentals. The house was big enough we didn’t get in each others way and very comfortable. We will be back. Jodie is an awesome host and very responsive to all questions. Jodie’s home was beautifully kept and located perfectly to wake up and go to sleep watching and listening to the waves crash on the beach only footsteps away. We are so glad we chose to stay here for a relaxing family getaway!

Parking at this rental is awful unless you have 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. We had to be towed out.

We had a nice relaxing vacation. The location was excellent, very close to the beach and places to eat. We have three small children and they had a great time. We even got to see a baby seal on the beach on our last day. Would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy Beach Cottage. Highlights were: 1. the Location - south end of Nags Head, near the end of a private street, literally steps from the Beach, 2. the sunny Deck - I basked in the sunshine with a marvelous view of the ocean, 3. spacious kitchen and living area, and 4. responsiveness of the property owners - Jodie replied promptly to all of my questions/concerns. Not so great: the neighbor at the end of the street was not keeping up with sand removal and that caused us unneeded stress with parking. A memorable stay at A Sandy Getaway!

This is a very comfortable home. Location is ideal for sunrise viewing and beach walks.

A Sandy Getaway was the perfect base on the OBX, right in the middle of everything . Plenty of space and great amenities, a private road and beach access. From driving on the beach in Currituck ,climbing the lighthouse and seeing the wild Horses to the Graveyard of the Atlantic in Hatteras. We had many adventures from the north to south , with breaks on our beach in-between. We explored Roanoke Island Festival park , the Lost Colony, Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Fort Raleigh, Navy Dare Bombing Range, Stumpy Point Trading Post, Bebop Fishing Pier (We saw our first dolphins here), The Elizabethan Gardens, Monument to a Century of Flight, Holy Redeemers by the Sea, Nags Head Woods Preserve, Buxton Woods, Jockey's Ridge State Park, Fish Heads Bar and Grill on the OBX pier(ate here twice), Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, Duck Boardwalk, Chicamacomico Life-saving Station, Jennette's pier (saw a sea turtle and Jelly fish), Seagreen Gallery, KDH Cooperative Gallery, Glenn Eure's Ghost Fleet Gallery, Pea Island Art Gallery, Frisco Native American Museum, Duck Boardwalk, Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers Memorial, And lots of time spent just walking the beach, watching dolphins, collecting shells or sitting listening to the waves. Chairs on the deck were great for morning coffee or evening wine. The grill made fixing evening dinners easy. It was a great fall retreat. We really enjoyed our stay at A Sandy Getaway.
