The island, beach and people (hosts, caretaker, cook) are wonderful. Armodio (caretaker who lives next door) and his family made our stay so enjoyable and easy. Ely’s assistance with getting to and from the airport was very helpful. We hired Adi to cook a few meals for us and they were outstanding (our kids are still talking about the tacos she made).
Watching the sunrise and listening to the birds on the 2nd story balcony every morning was a highlight for me. The lodge is very large and provided more than enough space for our group of 4 kids and 4 adults. The kids had a blast with easy access to swim, snorkel and play on the beach. We enjoyed an island boat tour, a trip to Green Acres Chocolate Farm (about 20-3 minute water taxi away), morning coffee at Casa Acuario (5-10 minute walk), ice cream and surf lessons at Mukundo (5 minute walk), and watching the sunset at Cosmic Crab (2-3 minute boat taxi).
The lodge is rustic/tropical and Bocas is experiencing a drought which (rightly so) limits water use. If you are seeking luxurious accommodations, this is not the rental for you. If you seek comfortable accommodations with easy access to amazing people, activities, some dining and the beach…10/10 recommend. Bring bug spray.

We had a wonderful stay at Vista Azul. Easy and friendly communication from the host and wonderful hospitality from the team on the ground (Ely and Armodio) who stayed in touch with us throughout the visit and made sure we had everything we needed. Carenero is a beautiful island with a few great restaurants and bars in easy walking distance of the house. We especially loved the laid back vibe at Coquito's, the excellent Sunday BBQ at Receta Michilá and the amazing espresso and breakfasts at Casa Aquario. The chitras (no-see-ums) are no joke on the island, so bring plenty of bug spray!

The location was absolutely perfect. Right next to the beach and an easy walk to a few restaurants. Water taxi was easy to take to different islands and the main town. This is the best spot if you want a sand beach and calm water that is easy for kids to swim in.

Everything was perfect about this property. Location was private with some beach goers that we shared our days with. The house was very spacious, beds comfortable, and outdoor space perfect. It was a short walk to fun eateries, or a 5 minute boat ride to town
The staff was awesome, Armodio went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant.
I would definitely recommend this property for anyone visiting Boca.

The property and property manager were amazing. Quick to help and assist with different tours and taxi rides. I would highly recommend this property to large groups.

Our overall stay was wonderful due to the staff at Casa Azul. I rented the property to celebrate my 60th and my niece's 25 birthday. Armodio took care of us more than we could have expected, he arranged all of our local transport and our house staff was wonderful! We knew the house was on a public beach, which was not a positive, but the whole set up worked very well. Peter and Andrea were very accessible.

I wish I could write two reviews for this home and our stay in Bocas - one for the people and location and one for the home. Bocas, the place and the people are worth the adventure but the home is not.
The people - from Armodio and the ladies who were with us daily cooking, shopping and cleaning for us to our water taxi drivers, the locals we shared the beach with and even the hosts Peter and Andrea - all were truly amazing! Friendly, kind, funny and beyond helpful. These folks made our stay so memorable!
The location - oh my! The pictures do not do this postcard beach, palm trees and amazing weather justice. From deck to beach to ocean in 5 easy steps! We loved walking to Bibis for lunch and drinks!
The home is a different story. It is truly showing its tropical age. The pictures of this home are easily a decade old - the images and the home we stayed in were quite different. We know that a tropical climate can be hard on homes (we have stayed in our share) but facets didn't work properly, the floors in a few of the bathrooms felt ready to fall through, the cushions on chairs and benches are very old and there is no place to gather a large group except around the dinning table. Outside is beautiful but the bugs (no big deal with enough bug off) made evenings more comfortable inside but indoor seating made this a challenge. The kitchen was so poorly stocked with cooking utensils and pots/pan that it was hard for us to cook even a few of our own meals.
I really wish I was able to write a better review but I thought other would appreciate the honesty.

A Very Happy Place
The property is beautiful. It is beginning to show its age in certain ways but I can't think of a better place to stay anywhere in the area.

Great introduction to Bocas del Toro
This is a very nice house for a large group, with 6 superb en suite adult rooms and very liveable group spaces to hang out both inside the house and on the deck. Amodio lives next door, was helpful and provided some buffer from the only negative of the property, the beach in front of the house. As noted by other reviews, the house is on a public beach, which means people can set up for the day within a couple of feet from the front deck. Good news is its mostly locals, not tourists which adds charm and fun, but on the weekend its pretty busy so consider your trips to Zapatillo or one of the other island beaches for the weekend. Importantly, your stuff is secure in the house. Carenero is a great little island, about a 2.5 km walk around takes you through beach and jungle with sloths and parrots on one side, and the small local community on the other with a couple restaurants (recommend the Cosmic Crab). We were there six nites and had no trouble hooking up with water taxis to visit the archipelago or Bocas town. Had a wonderful dinner cooked in one evening for us. In sum, good enough to already be planning for a second visit.

Family vacation paradise
I stayed at the house for nearly a week with my family after getting married in Panama City.
After a week of the hustle and bustle of the city my wife and I looked forward to having to having some quality time with our families after getting married.
Ely the caretaker arranged transportation from the airport in bocas. She ensured we had a meal cooked upon arrival. We had hired two girls to cook and clean, and the food was great.
The care taker Armodio was also very attentive to ensuring we had any supplies we needed as well as providing us with coconuts. Armodio truly helped us feel comfortable and was attentive to sharing information about the property and the island. He also made sure things were secure when we left the property.
A couples things worth noting is that the property is about a two minute boat ride from the center of town. We did not mind it since we came to connect as a family. The beds were comfortable, with ac in each room. And the property looks better in person
Our group consisted of people ages 22 to 80 and the front porch allowed us to be comfortable reconnect and truly make memories that I will always cherish.
There are a few things to be aware of the mosquitos can be bad so make sure you take plenty of big spray, and even recommended brining the bug candles. And lastly if you are used to taking 30 minutes showers everyday this may not be the place to be. Water conservation is a must. Overall we would stay on the property again and my 80 year old grandmother is talking about coming back next year.

Great for Surf Trips - Larger Groups
We had a great time at Vista Azul! It is definitely the nicest accommodations on Isla Caranero and in Bocas from what we saw. There are some small things in the house that could use fixes, but anything we needed to use(such as appliances) were promptly fixed or replaced.
We went with a group of 10 for a surf trip. As stated in previous reviews, you are on a public beach so there are plenty of people on any given day and more on weekends. Most will sit on the front stairs and a couple of people daily will walk up the stairs and almost inside assuming it's a hostel. "Lost and Found Items" were left on the front deck by police a couple of times for beachgoers to retrieve later. The property should really have any kind of signage to signify its private property. For this reason, we always locked up when leaving and hid valuables inside the house as we were warned several times during our trip by locals or police of theft in the local vicinity as we had photographers with us and their equipment.
It was difficult to gauge from pictures the actual size of the bed and rooms, but the house could definitely sleep 14 comfortably. The beds were good, and each room has a beautiful view and bathroom. As mentioned previously they are on a rain catch system so expect limited showers as it hadn't rained properly prior to our arrival.
The property owners were very helpful leading up to the trip with what to expect in Isla Caranero as well in Bocas. Armodio, who was our onsite assistance was incredibly helpful at all times, and on night one helped show us where all the lights were as we sat inside with a pitch black patio, he was always very helpful and accommodating.
We frequented Coquitos, Leaf Eaters and Bibi's, and were on the main island for surf at Paunch and Bluff most days. Just off the dock are great coffee shop and breakfast options. We did run into some trouble halfway through the trip with water taxi's charging more if we said we were going to "Vista Azul", so we usually ended up requesting a ride to Bibi's and walking the rest of the way.
All in all it was a great trip, and with such a large group we had ample space which is hard to come by. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful house in a beautiful spot
This is a beautiful and incredibly spacious house that brings the outdoors in. The main room has soaring ceiling and windows, balconies across both levels expansively open the home to the beach. The house is on the back side of Caranero, with a magnificent view out to the ocean. Communication with the owner was easy, thank you for being so responsive and accommodating! Pickup and dropoff, as well as initial grocery shopping were made available, and much appreciated. There is a pier immediately nearby for water taxi access, and Blackrock surf spot right in front. The beach does get people / locals coming for the day, it is not isolated, this is part of the fun. We rented surfboards and SUPs from MonoLoco and kept them at the house to use right out front, and went diving with Panama Dive School based on Caranero. Convenient to everything by boat, and walking distance to 2 nearby restaurants. Really enjoyed our stay!

Week in Bocas
Very nice property in a very nice location. It is a public beach, but that was no problem. Armodio was an excellent problem solver and provided security when we were gone. His wife makes great bread! Our group of 8 couples all had king suites with baths. Our group has travelled the Caribbean and Costa Rica and Bocas was at the top of the list in terms of beaches, activities and food options. We would highly recommend Bocas and this property. The only issue was the absence of a grill to cook our food. Overall a great trip.

Beautiful home, with very accommodating owners.
The house & beach are beautiful, and the flexibility that was given to help with check in and out was awesome, the overall experience was good. The kitchen could have been a little better equipped, the oven takes for ever, and there were a few uncomfortable moments with the caretaker. I just think when you wake up in the morning and go to the kitchen, you should see someone from your own party first, and not a stranger. The beach is absolutely beautiful, but there is no privacy. I think a fence or something would help as people would camp out on decks, and walk right in the door looking for a drink, on weekends it is like Daytona beach it is so busy. All in all it was a great stay and the owners and Elly were very accommodating.
2.5 / 5.0
We were a part of 5 couples and this house worked out great for us. Bedrooms with en suite baths are on the each side of the house and then central living area. Upper and lower decks to catch a breeze off the ocean. Kitchen with gas stove and workable oven but there is no grill. We had several meals there including awesome spiny lobster which were provided by Armodio who lives next door. I cannot say enough good things about Armodio. He will help arrange any tour or water taxi and, at a small cost, brought us ice and fresh water whenever we needed. Plus, he was very attentive about security and would keep an eye on the place when locals were about or when we were gone on excursions. Not that we didn't feel very safe, but it was nice to know he had our backs. As stated in other reviews, locals will use the beach. Most crowded on weekends so you can plan accordingly. We went to Red Frog Beach on a Saturday for that reason. But there are very few people selling things so don't worry about being hassled. Sand fleas are an issue. We did bring plenty of deterrent and avoided laying on the sand which did help. There is some snorkeling at the beach--especially to the left as looking out at the ocean. Not spectacular but still enjoyable. Also really fun to watch the surfers every day. There is a path that goes all the way around the island and will get you to a small grocery store. Bibi's restaurant is just a short walk away with good food--should order the ceviche and octopus! You should be aware that you do have to be very water conscience. We took very quick showers and would flush only when truly needed. Having said that we did have enough water to do a few small loads of laundry at the end of the week. All in all a great week. Good location and beautiful beach front property.

Amazing Stay
Our group of 10 had an amazing time at the Vista Azul Lodge, which was the first trip to Bocas for all of us. The home is incredibly unique and situated in a fantastic location, the service we received from the owner and staff was 5 star across the board, and Bocas was a fantastic destination.
I could go on and on about the entire experience, but to get to the point. If you're considering staying here, just book it.

Beautiful Home
Vista Azul exceeded our expectations. I have been to Bocas about 12 times and this is my favorite place so far, the house is amazing and the beach, just steps from the front door, is calm, clear and great for lounging and swimming. There are restaurants a short walk away, a store about a 15 min walk away, and Bocas town is a short 5 min boat ride away. If a boat is not at the dock and you don't want to wait to call one you can walk 10 minutes to the Aqua Lounge and there is always a boat there. I would bring Deet as some members of our group were annoyed by the sand flies, locally known as chitras. Other reviews are accurate that the beach is not private and because it is such a beautiful beach people come during the day but you will have the beach to yourself in the morning and evening. If you want a more secluded experience the trade off is that you will be 20-40 minutes away from restaurants, stores, and town. The man that watches the house, Armadio, is a tremendous resource and will build a fire on the beach, call a water taxi, help arrange for a cook - anything you need.

Location, location, location!
White sand beach out the front door and beautiful views of the water from every room in the house -- This place seemed too good to be true! It was perfect for our family vacation. The staff was so helpful and kind. Catching a water taxi was easy. Our cook was amazing! ... and Bibi's restaurant, just down the beach, was a perfect place to find a refreshing fruity drink!

Amazing location right on the beach!
This house is “one of those” that is even better in person than it appears in the photos. The bedrooms are expansive with great private baths and the view to the jungle makes the house open up even more. The beach on which the house is located is a “public beach” as other reviewers mentioned. That didn’t negatively affect us, and we actually enjoyed speaking with quite a few locals. The only issue is when they used the deck or would come up onto the deck, but it should be noted they think the house is a bar or restaurant-asking for agua or cerveza or basura or banos. Yes, there are “private property” signs, but most were innocent mistakes and we would point them down the beach. The snorkeling is pretty average in front of the house, a bit harrowing with boat traffic, but we brought an orange buoy along which helped the taxi drivers locate us (we left at the house for others use). We also took a snorkel tour which is worth the time and money. The location on the beach is prime real estate and we gave out the rental information to many other tourists interested. Agree with other reviewers that the kitchen/dining could use additional pots, pans, cookie sheets, etc and better lighting but when traveling we’ve learned to improvise. We caught fish two days with a fishing captain set up thru Armodio and prepared some amazing dishes in that kitchen. I can’t say enough about Armodio and his family, he truly made our vacation memorable (and his children too!) Armodio’s wife even baked us homemade bread a few days! It should be said, we had absolutely no water issues, and we had 8 occupants showering along with dishes, flushing, etc. However, one negative comment outside the control of the owners, there is a bar on the island that starts to play thumping music anywhere from midnight through the early morning?? With the screens on the upper windows, it was hard to drown out that music. Yes, there are sand flies, but there aren’t many locations left in central America that are sand fly free-Bring your repellent! Highly recommend this beach house!

Great Location but disappointing stay
We landed and Peter the owner spotted our group as I think he was on his way out and told us there was an issue of limited water at the house and on the Island. Ely would explain, so I talked with her while waiting for our luggage . I was told we only had 450 gallons for water left for our 4 days and 10 of us.
She recommended we not wash clothes, keep showers very short and not to do too many dishes. We planned to cook as we had people with dietary restrictions.
Everyday we were worried about how much water we had.
The morning of our departure we had run out, only 2 people had showered ,toilet could not be flushed and used drinking water to brush our teeth.
They did pay for our laundry to be done in town but had to pay for water taxis back and forth. They supplied us with paper plates, cups and spoons, but when we ran out we had to pay of them. Armodio was great about getting groceries ,our laundry and cutting fresh coconut for us.... thank you very much.
The house has outstanding views and great access to clear waters for snorkeling but as you are close to the pier there are lots for water taxis coming and going . You really have to watch out. We were there over a weekend and that was mistake. There were tourists and locals walking by and chilling on the beach during the day, it got very crowded and noisy with tons of trash were left behind on the beach. Sunday morning 6am we had a water taxis bringing 6 drunk individuals with blaring music. They were on the beach and in the water for about an hour. As the house has small windows thru out with only screens ,the noise was an issue.
People get very close to the house so privacy was also an issue especially if you wanted to sit out on the front deck.
The kitchen cabinets are in bad condition ,hard to open, some are broken and skillets, pot and pans are in need of replacement.
Sand flies are a real problem.
Overall not what we had expected.

Truly an island paradise
This property was certainly above and beyond our expectations, though we had seen the beautiful online pictures and read every review. Peter was so prompt in answering our questions and so patient with the details, always including even more than we had asked about. Ely twice arranged excursions for us that we felt were incomparable and you need the insider information for the contacts. She also arranged local ladies to cook for us, starting with one evening, then two, then four! These dinners became such an important and convenient part of our family experience. Peter's place is so beautiful and spacious. Everyone of us could do our own thing, and of course, being right on the water with a beautiful sandy beach was an incredible pleasure. Armodio was there to answer questions, help us get fish from locals, show us a sloth, and give us al sorts of information. Ely, Armodio, the local cooking ladies, and the water taxis fellas
were all gems. We have traveled a lot, but this was definitely our most special place ever. Big resorts as a whole do not tempt us, so this was exactly our kind of place,
one to dream about! Thank you, Peter! All of us agreed it could not have been better.

Beautiful house with outstanding staff and surf!
Our 2 families experience at the Vista Azul Lodge on Carneros Island was wonderful from our first contact with Peter regarding staying at the lodge until receiving our damage deposit refund in full.
The house is stunning with outstanding views and great access to high quality surf breaks. You can paddle out from the house to Black Rock or take short water taxi rides from the dock out in front of the house to Carneros (the point) or Paunch/Dumpers on the main island (Colon Island) or even further surf breaks.
Peter has great local staff to meet you at the airport, bring you to the house and orient you to the house and local surroundings. They can connect you with water taxi drivers, set up housekeeping and grocery shopping / meal preparation services, and even keep a close watch on the house to maintain security of the premises.
All in all, a wonderful stay and we hope to return one day!

Fantastic Property
This is a great location and a fantastic place to stay. Right from when we first booked, Peter was in communication, helping us plan to make the most of our vacation. We were completely taken care of by all members of the team, including having some evening meals cooked, which were excellent.
The house is beautiful, lots of room, with all the amenities. Ocean and beach to the front, rain forest at the back and we saw sloths from our breakfast table. The sea water is clear and clean and you can have fun snorkeling, or rent a surf board from Bibi's (5 minutes walk) and go further out and have fun in the waves.
The boat guides that are set up with the house, Fabion being our favorite, will pick you up in minutes after you call and take you into town (5 minute boat ride) and be there to pick you, or you can arrange with them to take you sight seeing, snorkeling to the many locations and islands around.
Overall we would highly recommend this house, you won't be disappointed.

A very special place, indeed!
Vista Azul is the perfect blend of Caribbean rustic luxury and oceanfront perfection. As you can see it is situated directly on the beach, and what a beach it is! Perfect white sand, crystal clear water, fantastic snorkeling just offshore and if you catch it right there are world class waves of just around the corner... although we didn’t time the waves right there were no complaints. Peter was extremely accommodating and communicative in pre-trip conversations. Both Eli and Armodio were super helpful. The ladies who came over to cook were absolutely fantastic, highly recommended! Awesome restaurants just a short walk away, a place to rent surf and paddle boards, and a five minute boat taxi puts you in the heart of Bocas town. Check out the Cosmic Crab restaurant for excellent eats. We will be back!

Outstanding property, great staff, we all loved it
This is the ideal place for a medium to large group to spend time in Panama. We had 5 couples, and a 6th couple for a day. The six bedrooms with good a/c were all equally great - large with private bathrooms and king beds. There are 4 large common area inside, with a bar and a large table and dining area. The best relaxing is done on the beautiful beach or outdoor decks and balcony with lots of comfortable and varied seating. We used the very inexpensive cook and housekeeper 3 days out of eleven. All her meals were outstanding, but our final huge lobster tails and octopus ceviche with coconut rice and fried plantains was the both very inexpensive and memorably delicious. We prepared many meals in the well equipped kitchen, and walked 5 minutes to Bibi's on the Beach for 3 or 4 dinners and excellent happy hours. Armodio, the on-premise caretaker, was perfect. Everything we needed was supplied. Water taxis provided transportation to/from/around the islands, on various tours, fishing and snorkeling tripd. Our group has done many VRBO properties in the Caribbean and other island beaches, and this is simply the best we have found. The owner is a great communicator .Our highest recommendation

One of the Best
This was by far one of the best vacations I've ever had. The house was amazing, the staff was super helpful, and Peter was delightful in answering all my questions leading up to the trip. This is truly a unique location that provides creature comforts immersed in a beautiful natural environment. Can't imagine a better place to stay in Bocas and hope to go back soon!

Thank you, Peter, Ely, Armodio, and Choi for everything!
We rented out Vista Azul Lodge for our destination wedding. Peter agreed to let us perform the ceremony outside on the beach and it couldn't have been better. Armodio's help and experience was great and our wedding day was absolutely perfect! Even the torrential down pour at the end of the night made for humorous memories! The property was in great condition, the beach was beautiful and clean, and the regular team of individuals who were available to us for any and every situation was invaluable. If I ever come back to Bocas with a large group again, I know exactly where I'm going to be staying!!
One side note, however, be prepared for sand flies! Completely out of the control of any homeowner/property manager, but it is a reality that one must come prepared for. They were only bad at dusk and night outside.
Peter was a great host and was always available for any questions prior to our arrival. Ely was our go-to for any questions regarding the property or the town. Armodio is a great, caring, funny, and hardworking man who is at your doorstep when you need any help at the house. Choi and his sons were extremely reliable and prompt water transportation.
We appreciate the constant help and service from everyone involved with Vista Azul Lodge that made our dream wedding vacation a reality.

Awesome Week!
Vista Azul has views from a post card. Unbelievable and breathtaking, the clear Caribbean waters, open ocean, and the nearby islands make every view spectacular. You walk out of the house onto a gorgeous beach with calm waters. The house has air conditioned bedrooms for comfort and sea breezes to keep comfortable in the living areas of the house. The staff is great and can prepare some really great local cuisine. Easy to get to Bocas Town via water taxi or just walk down the beach to a couple local restaurants. Huge glass windows on the back of the house allow birders and nature lovers to take in a little jungle view with sloths and a variety of birds from the comforts of the house. All the staff from the airport and back to the airport and everything in between are courteous and friendly. We will return! Thanks Peter and Andrea and all your great staff!!

Best residence for large groups on Carenero Island! Step off front steps to the sea!
The Kent's home on Caranero Island is far and away the largest, most comfortable for large families and groups. Located right on the water on the island's windward side, you wake up every day with ocean waves in front of you and sleep to ocean sounds at night. Within sight, you will see surfers learning how to ride waves. The house is equipped to prepare meals or, better yet, have the staff coordinate cooked meals for you! Within a short walk, there is a lovely seafood restaurant, Bibis. Just be careful not to run into a land crab at night (they're terrified of people)! The Kent's local staff is highly accommodative and ably coordinated any boat travel, services (e.g., in-house massages and excursions) or housekeeping we required. We echo some comments other guests had warned regarding eager locals who walk close to the house, infringing a bit on privacy especially during the afternoon hours. But once we grew accustomed to our surroundings after Day 2, we were convinced of how fortune were were to be guests of one of the nicest accommodations in Bocas del Toro. Thank you to the Kents and staff for a wonderful booking experience and vacation stay, as well as your responsiveness whenever we had questions!

Great house in an amazing location
Peter was very responsive during the booking process.
Arriving in this house is a true experience. It is located in an idyllic location, the house is huge and decorated with style. Every room is spacious, the bathrooms are clean and comfortable,.... Ely, the house manager came to pick us up at the airport and escorted us to the house.
We booked 2 people to help us with cleaning and cooking. This is really a great recommendation. It allows you to have a more relaxed stay and also experience local cuisine and cooking. From the island, we were able to explore Bocas every day as we pleased : we booked a local boat (Choy is our favorite!) and explored the islands in Bocas, we visited a great cave, went to the town,....
As for potential improvements :
- We did not have hot water in 1 side of the house for a couple of days. Not a disaster, but some people do appreciate a nice hot shower
- We were there in a holiday week. We were hoping for more privacy. You have quite some tourists walking by and chilling on the beach during the day and during the days it got very crowded with locals who literally trashed the beach. Piles of trash were left behind on the beach and cans and bottles were floating in the ocean when we woke up. Really sad. But I think that on regular weeks, this is less of an issue.
- There were a lot of bugs, so take plenty of insect repellent and coils if you want to enjoy the deck outside.
But all in all a great experience and a place I would definitely recommend for larger groups.

PARADISE!!!!!!!
We have been fortunate to travel and see many places, but Vista Azul beats most. The house is spectacular, the architecture wonderful, very nice layout, each room and bathroom very good. All kinds of details present: interesting books to read, movies, amount of towels, beach chairs, etc. The truth is that we had exceeded expectations through the pictures we had seen.
Do not forget to try the food Martha!
Armodio thank you very much for your concern to every detail and make us feel always safe.
The best person to do the rides is CHOY. You should ask for it, always with the best intentions, very gentleman.
Very important!!! as Vista Azul is located on the beach and in the woods, mosquitoes are something to consider. Bring a lot of repellent
While there are always details that enhance (washer never worked, some air conditioners in poor condition, cleanliness was not the best), the place, the house, climate, etc. They managed to be the best holiday we have had as a family.

Myself and a group of friends rented Peter's house for 10 days and seriously couldn't have had a better vacation. The house is gorgeous, even better than the photos online, the perfect mix of luxury and practicality with a breath-taking location. We were the envy of everyone who walked by!! The beach in front of the house is the best on the island, sunlovers from all over seek it out to soak up the rays. We were extatic to see that there was a fantastic surf break literally right in front of the house...an easy 5 min paddle and you were riding beautiful friendly waves perfect for both beginners and intermediate surfers. No shortage of places to rent boards from either, there are great deals just down the path. We enjoyed having Ari keep the place nice and tidy (and sand free) for us while we were at play. She was so helpful and even helped us to practice our spanish. Armordio, the caretaker is a warm heart willing to do anything to make your stay perfect. He even built us a fire on the beach and chased down the fisherman on his surfboard so we could buy fresh fish. Peter made himself available for any questions we had, even at peculiar hours of the night :)Caranero has all you need just steps away but make sure to take advantage of Fabian and his boat service to take you all over the islands, the adventures are endless. We were a group of couples ages 27-33 and we were not bored for a second. This vacation destination is the perfect mix of rest, luxury, adventure, exploration and nightlife. We have travelled a lot and this trip definitely makes it to the top of our favorite list. Thanks Peter for a fantastic time!!!

Vista Azul provided us (a group ranging from nine to 11 people, couples and singles) with a great and memorable vacation home. The house is incredibly spacious. Rooms offer private baths, king beds (twins also available) and a welcoming open floor plan with a large living area and connected kitchen. Also worth mentioning is the air-conditioners in each room. You might not need it every night of your stay, but it's a definite treat for colder blooded folks.
The property is a quick water taxi ride to Bocas Town, where you'll find great dining variety, night life and boutique shopping, but its location is pleasantly removed from the in-and-out of daily life in the busier town near by. We had a blast exploring the nearby beaches, surf breaks and watering holes (Bibi's offers a great happy hour and is a quick two-minute walk down the path). Local guides were readily available to take us to landmarks further away, such as Starfish Beach and Bird Island.
The local house staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We opted to do our own grocery shopping and cooking, but were told these services were available for a nominal fee of $30/day. The kitchen is fully equipped. Washer/dryer are also available, however water is limited so we only used once or twice.
Although it didn't bother us, it's worth noting that the beach out front of the house is not a private beach and locals and visitors alike end up in the "front yard" from about 10:00am until 4:00pm. Again, not a huge deal unless you're looking for total privacy. Wireless is available, but not entirely reliable. And definitely take lots of bug spray; the sand flies/flees were definitely noticeable throughout the day.
All in all, the house is a great find. Although none of our crew were getting hitched, it would have made for a great small family wedding destination or family reunion location. As it was, we were a group of family and friends, all ages and activity levels, coming in from all over the states and we all had a blast during our stay. Highly recommended for a those looking for a fun, family-friendly, community-friendly, luxurious vacation home!

We had a group of 10 people stay at Peter & Andrea's home back in Sept. Upon arrival we were simply stunned by the property. This house is without a doubt a special one of a kind home that had an enormous amount of time and thought put into it. Furniture like the very large wooden dinner table are from all over the world. The home is massive and has plenty of space for many people. As another reviewer hit on, we had someone walk right up on the porch and ask us where the "front desk" was - people really do think it's a hotel or resort of it's own. A/C in the bedrooms works great. Special touches to each room makes them unique. The beach right in front of the property is perfect, and you can easily swim out to the small reef and snorkel. Water taxi's are easy to get a hold of and the house is not that far from Bocas Town, even if you want to stay out late at the bars, you can get a ride home. It is very quite and nice being away from Bocas Town. Andrea and Peter helped arrange everything for us upon arrival and were very informative. We will absolutely return! Thank you Andrea & Peter!

We had the pleasure of spending a week at the Kents property and I wish we had scheduled an additional week! We had 10 people in our party and there was more than enough room for everyone... never did we feel limited on space. This is an absolutely beautiful property with a high level of attention to detail to make sure everyone is comfortable and relaxed. All you need to do is show up and they will take care of everything! This house and the people supporting it definitely made our vacation what it was. Thanks again!! We'll be back.

We stayed in July 2010. I travel with my large family. The house can only be accessed by boat which is fine because there are water taxis are available in abundance and that is how things are done in Bocas Town area. The house and beachfront are actually as nice or nicer than the photos show. The occaisional passerby often mistook the home for a resort. Although I must say that home and the grounds are much nicer than the resort located a ways down the island. The look on my family's faces was priceless as we arrived at the dock. The property was clean, well maintained, and spacious enough to comfortably accommodate our family of 9.
The owners, Andrea and Peter were very helpful and accommodating. We had never been to Central America and they are very knowledgeable and well connected down there. We came in accross the Costa Rican boarder. Peter had arranged for our taxi to be waiting for us. Willie (our taxi driver) was extremely competent. He recognized us as the car pulled up (even though we had never met) and had two large men waiting to carry our bags accross the Sixaola bridge. Given that bridge I can tell you that felt like a Godsend. From there it felt like Willie swept us off of our feet and got us were we needed to be safely and on time. He was very knowlegable about the area and a pleasant man to be around.
If there were any questions or issues Peter was very responsive and on top of it. He has an entire network of people set up that are there to give assistance and provide service. Plus, he is well known and respected in the area. We relied upon Fabian to provide our taxi service and he was responsive on a moments notice and always available and accommodating.
The Bocas Islands are beautiful,we experienced about 40 foot of visibility in the water when we were there. The hose has a reef in the bay out front. We did some snorkeling and diving in other spots there in the islands, but I found the reef right there in the bay in front of the house to be just as good as any of the other places. The people are very congenial and genuine. A water taxi ride to another local island is $1. Land taxis in Bocas Town are $1. Panama is rich in natural beauty.

We stayed in this home almost 3 years ago and it is just spectaclar. It is truly what you envision when you imagine what paradise is like. The house accomodates a lot of people very easily and is right on its own private beach. It is quiet, a little path takes you to a casual dinner out if you are so inclined or you can get a water taxi over to the main area of town where there are all the ammenities. There is great surfing and snorkeling or you can just enjoy the foot paths around the island. The weather is what you would expect in a tropical country - warm and balmy. If you are looking for a tropical paradise - this is it.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Kent's home for 10 days in August of 2008. The home and island offer all sorts of activities. From relaxing on the veranda, to wandering the secluded beaches, snorkeling just off the shore to bbq-ing on the beach in front of the house. The home was decorated impeccably, designed to take advantage of it's unique location. Standing in the center of the living room, you look out to the lush jungle at the back of the house and turning around, out toward the Caribbean. The house includes all sorts of amenities, high speed internet, television, etc. that can keep the little ones entertained while the adults are enjoying the natural amenities. The house was a short boat ride from town so it was easy to get groceries, and anything else that you might need. Relaxing has never been easier.
