The listing location is deceiving, viewing the page you think you are a close drive to deadwood when in reality you are a half hour drive away through the hills. Once you get there the house is great, perfect for friends and family. There is no cellphone service at the house and I was pretty sure the listing included WiFi but there is no WiFi at the house. The WiFi was an issue for our group because we had planned to get a shuttle service to bring us to and from deadwood but with no cell service and no WiFi it was impossible to find a ride.

Our family had a great time at this house. The view off the back deck is gorgeous, the house was comfortable and spacious, the kitchen was well-stocked, and everything was clean. We made some memories teaching our kids how to play pool (and poker) and just hanging out together.

Overall we had a wonderful time at the Jagerhaus in Spearfish, SD. The setting was beautiful, and the house was easy to find but yet secluded. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We had two concerns -- first, there was no wi-fi, which is understandable but it would be nice if that information was included in the listing, but also there was little or no cell phone signal at the location. This made it difficult to communicate with the owner and to contact each other to coordinate events. It also seemed a little dangerous to not have at least a landline for us to use in case of emergency. Second, the listing says the house sleeps 14 -- but a count of the beds and bedrooms, assuming the king bed could sleep 3, at most the house sleeps 11. There is a couch in the living room, but it isn't a sofa bed. An updating of the listing with this information would be helpful to potential renters. Otherwise, we had a great time at this rental!

Everything good except no cell service or WiFi

Incredibly convenient to Spearfish and any surrounding areas you may be visiting. Very spacious and great for large families. Only negative is very limited service and no internet.

Host has great communication. This property will make you fall in love with area.

Look no further for the perfect cabin. The views alone are worth the stay. The cabin is clean and comfortable. So much space - perfect for a couples getaway or a long stay with a group.

We had a great time! We enjoyed everything the cabin offered; hot tub, pool table, games & more! The view is stunning! We hope to return someday!

This is a great location, remote but close to everything you would want to do.

Over all everything was good. The AC was not working when we arrived. We discovered the A coil was froze up caused by a furnace filter that was completely clogged up. We turned the system off let it thaw out while we went to Walmart and bought a new filter. We replaced several light bulbs as well. A little more attention to maintenance would take care of these problems. The web site advertised the property could sleep 14. There is no way that is possible. We had 8 guys and two of us had to sleep on the couches. Since we were a group of guys we were pretty easy to accommodate where as if the renters were say a family they would be disappointed with the sleeping arrangements. Other than that the house was clean well stocked and in a great location. Private yet close to most necessities. Thanks for a sharing your home. We had a great time.

Nestled in the pines of the Black Hills Forest, quiet, secluded, but close to many wonderful S.D. sites, including Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Sturgis, Windcaves, Bear and Buffalo parks, and fly fishing. The property featured more than we could use. Loved every minute.

The house, including deck and hot tub, were fantastic. Great views. Gorgeous spot - enjoyed hiking down the trail into the adjacent state/national forest. Fantastic property.

We had a wonderful time and this property offers so much in location. Secluded and not far from town. Outside of the busy tourist locations, but within reach. We loved the hot tub, pool table, and bikes. Great memories!

We enjoyed the seclusion of the property. The hot tub and billiards were also highlights for us after enjoying a day of skiing at Terry Peak.

We went to the Black Hills for a 4 day weekend. We snowmobiled, skied, and went gambling in Deadwood. The house was awesome and had everything we needed. ! The hot tub felt great with the temperature being -11 degrees. The kids enjoyed playing pool and other games. We will definitely be back someday.

I've stayed at many VRBO's over the years and this was hands down the nicest I've stayed at. Everything was so clean and the place is even prettier than the pictures. If you are looking for a place away from the crowds and surrounded by nature, then this is the place for you. I was reunited with my family for the first time this year (due to Covid) so I am very grateful to have found such a perfect place that was comfortable for everyone (ages 3 through 60). Thank you for the accomodations and we hope to visit again in the future!

It was a great house and location!! Us ten girlfriends loved the hiking trails, hot tub , and beautiful scenery with deer included! Home was perfect and host made everything very easy Thanks for the memories

My family had a wonderful time on our vacation, and staying at this beautiful home is a major reason it was so special. The view from the deck is stunning, and we had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We spent the evenings in shooting pool, playing cards and working on puzzles - and reconnecting with each other. Deborah was a most gracious host. I can not recommend this home highly enough.

Very great place for the whole family. Beautiful location and home is well updated and maintained. Only downfall is no internet and really poor cell service, which we weren’t expecting, but would be great if you wanted a quiet getaway!

This beautiful home is surrounded by the gorgeous mountains, animals, and vegetation of South Dakota. Upon entering the home, you can see that the property is very well maintained and has the true feeling of home. In the yard, there is a large fire pit ready to go, a hanging swing below the spacious upper deck, and a crystal clear hot tub that is clean, new, and very inviting. The common living area is an open floor plan that has the hard wood kitchen floor and the carpet living area with another fireplace. All bedrooms are very clean and ready for a relaxing visit. The lower level is a walkout leading to the lower deck that has yet another electric fire pit and hot tub access. The owners stopped by a few times to insure we had what we needed. They were very friendly and easy to work with.

We loved our stay at this beautiful house that backs to acres of quiet forest. Everything was very clean, comfortable, and nice, with a large updated kitchen and many extra amenities for guests. The outdoor hot tub and fire pit area were a wonderful way to end a day spent hiking or traveling around the Black Hills. My husband also met the owner and said he is really nice. Thanks for sharing this place with renters - we hope to return someday!

We enjoyed our stay here in this beautiful home. It’s very spacious with a nice downstairs pool table in living room area. The hot tub was very nice and enjoyed by all! The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. Our only disappointment was that we had spotty cell phone service and there was no WiFi. The setting is beautiful with trees all around and neighbors nearby, but not in sight! We enjoyed exploring beautiful Spearfish Canyon, and had a nice day at the Spearfish waterpark. There are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby.

My family literally talked about how we could make a move to Spearfish work after a top shelf experience here! The Spearfish canyon is beautiful and easily accessible for hiking, but some of our best walks were in the back yard forest. Super-clean and all around fun with great layout for games, pool, movies, etc... We hope to stay again and would in a heartbeat. Enjoy!
