We recently stayed in Utila’s Treasure Beach area on a much needed quiet family vacation. Check in was fun where we were met at the Utila airport by Captain Ronald who arranged tuktuks for us to town. We were then taken by boat to the Coral House. The Coral house was nice, not luxurious, but well located to diving, snorkeling, boating, and kayaking. We were able to get provisions from Trish, the Property Manager and cook easily in the kitchen. There are a few small stores on the cayes which we kayaked to a few times for some supplies. Trish helped us arrange a fishing trip, dives, dinner in our home twice with Melvin, and a boat day with Captain Ronald. Trish is a true treasure and we are so glad she is the property manager. She was always around to help with her two dogs Tigra and Vicki nearby. We can’t say enough about the people associated with this property. We are already missing Utila and its people! Thank you for everything!

We love the rustic cabin feel of the all wood interior of the Coral House. Our property manager was very timely and helpful with anything we needed. The coral house felt like a home away from home.

The coral house was a great place for our family to relax. The water was great for snorkelling and kayaking. We also enjoyed Melvimnamd Chritie's cooking. Last but not least was the care and attention Trish (property manager) provided. She made sure we were comfortable from the time the water taxi dropped us off.

The property was more beautiful than advertised. Trish was responsive, helpful and kind. Captain Ron was ready for us when we arrived of the ferry, and Trish had all our provisions ready at the house when we arrived. The reef in front of the house was beautiful. There is great snorkeling right out the front of the house in water so perfect you can’t believe it’s real. We can’t wait to come back!

This property is all you see and more! There is beauty everywhere you look. We wanted a nice relaxing family vacation and that is exactly what we got. The reef right out front had some of the best snorkeling I've ever experienced. Trish took great care of us and made us feel welcome. Her communication through the whole process was exceptional. Captain Ronald was a great person and the BEST water taxi! He was always very accommodating and educated us about the island and was always looking out for our best interest. If you can, have his brother (and fisherman) Melvin cook you a meal! It was a night of excellent food, and great stories. We took a tour of the Cays with Ronald and ran into Melvin feeding all the cats on the Cays as well as his wife and daughter out walking. It was such a sense of community and an experience we will cherish. We went to Neptune's one day and it was a fun lunch with more great snorkeling - saw some squid there! Spent some time in Utila Town the day we had to take our COVID tests. What a great place! Ate at Mango Tango which was super good. The whole experience was just perfect. Our only complaint was that the sand flies loved us a little too much. Worth the itchiness though!!

The coral house is the perfect place to relax, snorkel and snorkel and snorkel. The house is charming and comfortable with a functional kitchen. The upstairs bedrooms are really nice and the downstairs was fine for the teenagers. Snorkeling from the dock is fantastic. If you're looking for excitement and night life, this isn't the right place. The coral house is great if you want a quiet place to hang out with family and friends, beautiful sunsets from the dock, and easy access to great snorkeling and scuba diving.
The people made our stay feel effortless! Trish made all the arrangements for groceries, internet access and random requests. She was always organized and available. Orlando kept the beach tidy and brought us coconuts ready to use. Captain Ronald took us on a few great day trips to different snorkel spots and an impromptu peek at a whale shark while sharing fascinating information about the island. Anke over at Utopia village is a great scuba instructor and dive leader. Always organized, patient and really good at making everyone comfortable under water. Melvin delivered delicious fresh snapper and tuna. Every person we met made us feel safe and welcome.
Don't forget to bring reef safe sunscreen and bug repellent for the sand flies, and some anti-itch cream is nice at 2am. The sand flies got several of us until we figured out the right repellent timing. Wash off any deet before getting into the water, please!

We had a great time on Treasure Beach at Coral House. The views are incredible, and there is really good snorkeling just off the dock. The house had everything we needed for an eight night stay, and it is a short boat ride to the Utila Cays where you can shop and have lunch. Also, the property manager, Trish was accessible and helpful. We definitely recommend staying at Coral House.

We stayed here with our 2 kids for a wonderful week of diving, snorkeling, and lots of hammock time! Wished we had built in more diving. Utila cays diving with Bogdan and Mike was incredible. Saw hawksbill turtle, rays, moray eels and of course lots of beautiful fish. Trish and Dave stocked the house for us, we unfortunately could not drink all the beer we had😲. Loved the peace and quiet, the white sand, clear water with great snorkeling right off the dock, the kayaks, rented a paddleboard even. Had wonderful dinner prepared by locals of mackerel, breadfruit, rice and beans and desert torts. Beds are comfy, big fridge and ample kitchen. Bring your own hammock or plan on buying one in utila town. There is one available but we wanted several. If you want to get away from it all this is a perfect tropical hideaway.

Beautiful setting with peace and quiet
Pretty well maintained and absolutely functional. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely with particular emphasis on relaxation and the water. The staff was great and immediately responsive to anything we asked. No real complaints. I didn’t give 5 stars because the unit needs a little TLC and the trip was, I thought, quite expensive. Overall we had a wonderful time!!!

Perfect return visit, already planning a third trip.
This was our second stay at the coral house and it was just as wonderful as it was five years ago.
The house is comfortable, clean, well maintained and the setting is absolutely beautiful.
If you want world class snorkeling literally 60 feet from the door, this is the place.
We love the serenity of the location, the empty beach and the natural environment of the surroundings. The stars are beautiful at night and you can hear the sound of the water when you lay in bed, no noise, no traffic, just nature.
This time we went to the island with a group of 12 friends for our bi-annual dive trip so we booked both of the rental houses on the beach, the coral house and the pineapple house. Both houses are comparable, so everyone was happy. Our entire group had a great time and all agreed that we will return again, that has never happened after our previous dive group trips to Mexico and Belize.
We dove with Utila Cays Diving, they picked us up in their boat each morning and we had the entire boat and two dive masters just for our group. The service they provided was superior, we did a total of 10 dives with them and were lucky enough to see a whale shark and on two occasions dolphins.
We can't say enough about the property caretakers Trish and Dave, they really are genuinely caring people and helped us arrange everything from flights to diving, they even stocked the houses with food and drinks and arranged for a local couple to make us dinners a few times.
We highly recommend the coral house and the neighboring pineapple house.

Absolutely Amazing
I will be honest, We were a little apprehensive about travelling to Honduras. All of our apprehension was completely dissolved as we boarded a ferry in La Ceiba and travelled to our final destination in Utila....The Coral House. We were greeted by the property Managers Dave and Trish. They are far more than Property managers, they are Concierges, translators, caretakers ... and just amazing. We had a small health Crisis (not related to the trip) and they helped us every step of the way. They went above and far beyond. I cant imagine better people to have had as our contact. Warm, Friendly and a tremendous giving Spirit.
The House... OH MY GOSH. We were craving a beautiful, somewhat secluded , private vacation spot for our anniversary and that is EXACTLY what we got. We were able to pick and choose all the activity we wanted but for us we wanted very little. The property is exactly as described but way more beautiful. We had peace and quiet . We met some wonderful people while we were there. Ronald.. our water Taxi guy and connection to the most delicious fish ( Rock Fish) delivered right to us. Ronald is very gentle in his boatmanship and just a warm and wonderful person. His Brother and Sister in law made us a meal (take out style )and delivered it right to the house.. Super delicious.
Don't hesitate in booking here... If you are looking for a Safe, Tranquil Holiday in an absolutely Breathtaking environment.. THIS IS IT ! Thank you Dave, Trish and Ronald for helping us make our Anniversary Super Special. Hope to be back again SOON :)

Spending a week at the Coral House in Utila left us in awe. Everything was exactly as advertised, and so much more. How could we possibly describe the atmosphere of peace and wonder of the perfection we found in the entire surroundings. The house itself is beautiful, not overdone, nothing left undone. The beach is kept very clean, the ocean is breathtaking. The nature all around so amazing yet not intrusive.Dave and Trish, the managers, are the perfect couple for the job of guiding and assisting on this vacation. They let us know ahead of time of anything that we may need to be aware of, for example, the no see um bugs. We were informed about them, given ideas as to what to do to prepare ourselves and as a result, these little creatures did not cause us a lot of grief. Dave and Trish were always available during our stay at Coral house if we needed anything at all, they always came up aces in providing for everything we needed. One night, the hydro went out, Trish made a point of calling us to inform us that she had already called the power company to find out what was going on and let us know approx when we should be expecting hydro again. Dave and Trish are very considerate and extremely kind, available yet not in our space. We would highly recommend the Coral House, and yes, we would return, in a heartbeat. Words can honestly not describe the beauty, serenity and aliveness of this little island Utila and the Coral House is the perfect spot to be! Walt, Gis, Michelle, Adam

Our stay at the Coral House on Treasure Beach was wonderful in so many ways! Dave and Trish, the property managers, went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. Dave provides door to door service; he picked us up at the airport and waited until our flight took off on our way out. If you are adventurous, enjoy the water (snorkeling or scuba), and like a place to yourselves, I highly recommend it! The reef is pristine and teeming with beautiful fish and coral formations. Neptune's Restaurant is about an hour kayak trip away and is definitely worth it!

A magical, authentic island experience!
Everything about our Christmas week stay at the Coral House was wonderful. The home was welcoming and very clean. We spent most of our time exploring the reef located mere steps from the home! octopus, starfish, rays, urchins.....our 5 year old had an experience of a life-time. And, I can't say enough about the property managers. They are very knowledgeable regarding the island, its history an the people who call it home. It really was a magical Christmas week in Utila. Thank you Dave and Trish!

Perfect Vacation - Pristine Location
We had an absolutely fantastic time at Treasure Beach! The Coral House is gorgeous and located in a secluded and pristine location, which is very difficult to come across these days. Dave and Trish (the property managers) are the nicest and most knowledgeable people and will assist you through the planning process, as well as while you are on the island. The house reef is healthy and teeming with life, we saw many creatures we had never seen before. We spent most of our days snorkeling and sitting on the dock, relaxing and watching the sea life go by. The snorkeling here is world class, some of the best we have ever seen, and there was not one other person in the water while we were there, complete solitude. We also enjoyed stargazing at night, the Milky Way is stunning from the upper deck of the dock. We were fortunate enough to be there during the peak of a meteor shower, so we saw countless meteors as we lay on the lounge chairs. If you appreciate nature, enjoy snorkeling/diving, and are looking for privacy and relaxation, then this is the perfect place for you.

Two weeks in Heaven!
Planning our vacation has endless choices but the Coral House kept beckoning us with its location, descriptions and reviews. We spent endless hours researching and finally took the plunge reserving the Coral House for 2 weeks in February with wonderful friends. From the get go Dave and Trish were so helpful with information before we even got there. They booked our connecting flight from Roatan to Utila. they gave us a grocery form for us to fill out and got all our provisions before we arrived! We also wanted to bring supplies to the school on the Cays which they were so instrumental in the process and delivery of!
When we finally arrived at the Utila airport Dave was there to greet us and took us through town to our boat which whisked us to the dock in front of the Coral House and Trish was there to greet us! The attention given us made us feel so very welcome!!
The pictures do not do the Coral House justice! It is a beautiful roomy home with a well stocked kitchen for cooking and the beds are so incredibly comfortable. Every night was a great nights sleep! Dave and Trish were always available for anything. They helped arrange excursions for us - fishing, going to town, going to Water Cay and also having local cuisine prepared in the Coral House. They will give you all the privacy that you want but we enjoyed their company immensely!
Key points that we loved of the trip included use of the kayaks and going to Neptunes which is up island. Fantastic food and location. We went there twice. The second time we walked there ... there is a jungle road that follows behind the houses. Only venture that if it is dry. If it rains it won't be pleasant. It was about an hour to walk although the girls kept stopping to take pictures lol.
Also get Melvin and Christy Cooper to come and provide a true island meal for you! They are so engaging and came to prepare two meals for us. Melvin is a fisherman and took us fishing which was a fantastic highlight! 21 tuna and a barracuda later we had enjoyed a true adventure with Melvin. His brother Ronald is a fantastic person who can take you anywhere with his boat and took us to town, picked us up at Neptunes so we didn't have to walk home and took us to Water Cay for an incredible picnic and snorkelling adventure!
We didn't dive but we did meet Bogdan from Utila Cays Diving. He is so wonderful and the neighbors at the Pinapple house raved about them!
Thank you everyone for a fantastic and dream come true vacation!

Excellent Vacation Spot
This was my first VBRO trip. Everything turned out wonderful. I was a little skeptical about the photos of the site. However, everything is even more beautiful in person. The reef was amazing. Snorkeled every day and seen many varieties of marine life and coral. The house had newer ac units. They worked great. The only thing that we didn't really care for was the power consumption meter. I've never gone on vacation where you have to pay this close attention to not running out of power. It was very hot there in the afternoons so you have to run the AC. The property managers Dave and Trish were very nice. They took us to town one day and we stopped at the keys on the way back to pick up some fish to grill. They left us a cell phone if we had any issues. Took a water taxi to Neptunes for lunch one day. Recommend this if you go. I really enjoyed reading in the morning with a cup of coffee. So relaxing. The stars at night are incredible too. Good vacation place to really get out of your busy routine.

PERFECT LOCATION, BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTIONAL BEACH HOME, AND WORLD CLASS DIVING AND SNORKELING
My husband and I are divers and we've been to other places in the Caribbean (Grand Cayman, Cozumel, etc.) but nothing compares to our stay at the Coral House diving with Utila Cays. From the beautiful house already stocked upon arrival to the world class diving and snorkeling there is little left to be desired. My sister also joined us as she wanted to relax in the sun and experience snorkeling for the first time and all of us are planning a return trip with a larger group as the house accommodates 8 comfortably. We didn't have to worry about a thing when we were there because of Dave and Trish, the lovely caretakers of the property. Dave picked us up from the airport and immediately bought everyone a beer for the trip to the house and Trish did a lovely job preparing the house and answered the phone very early one morning to address an unexpected need. They are all the reviews say. They even provided us with a phone so we could always get in touch with them and even allowed us to call the States to let our family know we made it safely. We didn't bother then often but when we needed them they were very accommodating. The house really is wonderful with a stocked kitchen and an outdoor grill which we must say cooked meat perfectly. The AC units are new and cooled the house down quickly. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular viewed from the private dock and star gazing deck. The reef right off the dock in front of the Coral House is quite nice and during our stay the tide was low making the snorkeling fantastic as the coral reef was so close to the surface. For those underwater photographers, our snorkel adventures to the Cays in the afternoon produced some of the best pictures we've ever taken. The Cays, a cluster of small islands, right off the beach were fun to explore and easily accessed by kayak. Included in the house is one double and one single kayak which was perfect for the three of us. We explored inhabited Jewel Cay where Utila Cay Diving is located and was given a tour by Bogdan our first day. Get the Barracuda fish plate at Cayview Restaurant. There were several small convenience shops for necessities. People are all very friendly and we always felt safe everywhere we went. We explored uninhabited Water Cay where there is a large sand bar and great snorkeling. If you want privacy go early in the morning and avoid Thursdays as many locals gather at Water Cay. Great diving, especially on the North side of the island.

BETTER THAN THE PICTURES, BETTER THAN A RESORT AND THE BEST MONEY WE HAVE EVER SPENT!
As I write this review, I literally have tears in my eyes. I had absolutely no idea, how much we would Love Treasure Beach and The Coral House. So, much...that we are preparing to buy a lot within The Treasure Beach area. Saying that, let me give you the specifics of "the best vacation we have ever had!"
First, when asking about The Coral House, the owner responded immediately and put me in direct touch with his Properety Managers (Trisha and Dave our new friends for life), that live a few houses down. They were very helpful and detailed, they forgot nothing. They arranged the Island hopping flight from Roatan to Utila, where they met us with a driver. They shuttled us to our Boat waiting at the dock, that brought us to the Dock of "The Coral House." This all sounds very simple, but here is the KICKER. When, arriving on Utila, and then driving thru town...it was very reminiscent of any 3 world country, but when we got to the dock in town, THERE IT WAS...THAT CARRIBEAN BLUE WATER. The 15 minute boat ride, was inching closer and closer...TO PARADISE. As we approached the Dock of The Coral House, it was like something in our Souls was awakened, we could have cared less about the house at that point, because the reef surrounding the dock (our dock for the week) was FREAKING AMAZING! As, Trish and Dave walked us thru coconut palms and almond trees to our home for the week, there she was 'THE CORAL HOUSE", fully provisioned, unbelievibly beautiful and better than any of the pics they had posted. The Coral House, was AMAZING! Trish and Dave were AMAZING, they took us to town, arranged a fishing trip, arranged scuba, provisioned our pantry, they were AWESOME...they even provided us a phone with all the Numbers plugged in, so that if we needed anything or anyone, we had it. I have to say, that between the Property, The Owner, The Property Managers...The Coral House deserves more than FIVE STARS. It is a slice of Heaven.
We will be back...in the spring! WE LOVED THIS HOME, the people, the atmosphere...it was the Best Vacation, ever.

A fantastic week at Treasure Beach
Eight of us just returned from a fabulous week at Treasure Beach on Utila, staying at the Coral House and its sister property, the neighboring Pineapple House. (http://www.vrbo.com/245992)
The properties are extremely well equipped, and maintained by an excellent property management team, who see to your every need, from provisioning the houses with food and drinks of your choice before arrival, to making sure you can get to places you want to visit during your stay. A team like this is vital at a vacation property of this type, located a 20-minute boat trip from Utila Town. The houses are nicely decorated and feature spacious bedrooms and baths, as well as a massive wrap-around porch where you're likely to spend a lot of your time. Each house has its own private stretch of beach, and they share a nice dock, complete with a great rooftop sitting area perfect for drinks at sunset.
The properties couldn't be more perfect for water lovers. Snorkelers will find a reef teaming with life right off the beach, with an easy entry and exit by ladder from the end of your own dock. Scuba divers and snorkelers alike can enjoy the amazing services provided by Utila Cays Diving. They will pick you up at your own dock each morning, for a mix of diving the nearby reefs, and those a short ride away on the north side. They take care of all your gear from the beginning to the end of your trip, even rinsing and hanging it to dry right at your house at the end of your stay.
It'd be easy to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at your own house each day, but other options include a short boat ride over to the Utila Cays for lunch or dinner, or a longer ride to Neptunes for lunch, followed by drinks on their nice stretch of beach. Boat trips into Utila Town can be arranged as well, and it's worth at least one trip to explore the eclectic village. Other adventure options include kayaks, included at the houses, and stand up paddle boards from Utila Cays Diving. It's an easy and fun 15-minute kayak trip to get over to the Utila Cays for a look around. For a day trip, consider arranging a boat ride to Cayos Cochinos, where you can have lunch at a Garifuna fishing village, and snorkel and dive in the marine park there.
In short, if you want to get away from it all for awhile, and don't want to go to an all-inclusive resort or big hotel, the Pineapple and Coral houses of Treasure Beach are just right for you.

Paradise Found!
Treasure Beach is true paradise. Set your internal clock to island time – Rise with the sun, hear the coconuts fall, the gecko cry, & the Carribean sea hit the sands. Relax, Relax, & Relax some more on the beautiful beaches, the double tiered deck or on the front porch of the beautifully appointed Coral House. Enjoy fresh fish, meet new people, engage the locals, kayak, dive, swim or snorkel. Fall asleep to the ocean. Wake and Repeat. When you come to Utila, your shoulders immediately fall. Less is definitely more here. Take in the true beauty of the island. Soak up what the delightful caretakers (Dave, Trish & Peter) have to offer when it comes to marine life, Honduras, their island, plants, birds…EVERYTHING UTILA! They are a wealth of knowledge and are happy to share with you what puts a smile on their face every single day. If you come here prepared to be wowed by the simplicity of it all then you won’t be disappointed. The Coral House is stylishly decorated and has everything you need. Don’t bother bringing a lot of clothes…you won’t need them. A swimsuit, shorts and flipflops are about as fancy as you get. If you need to do laundry, a machine is there. Commit to a regimen of bug spray in the am and pm and suffer you won’t! Dave, Trish & Peter will get provisions for you and pretty much do anything in their power to make sure your stay is as comfortable and meaningful as possible! Visit the Cays for fresh fish – Peter will take you a tour you won’t forget. He'll even cook for you! Spend a day in town where everyone knows Dave. Pick Trish’s brain about conservation efforts and the locals. Meet Sebastian & Lola of Chez Lola’s…their dinners are amazing! Dive with Bogdan and Katherine of Utila Cays Diving…top notch experts! Most of all…enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Treasure Beach and enjoy the wonderful people you'll soon call friends. Open the doors of the Coral House and take it all in – Paradise is all around you! We’ve only been home 2 weeks and are longing for our return – it can’t come soon enough!

Luxury & Relaxation at its Best!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at The Coral House on Treasure Beach. Without question this small stretch of beach is the finest on the island. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of and always felt like we were in good hands and not once did we ever feel unsafe.
Although the house is somewhat remote, getting around was easy and the restaurants/shops in the cays were very handy if we needed more rum/beer/food. You could get there easily via the provided kayak. Dave & Trish were absolutely AMAZING. Very attentive and there if you needed them, but always respected your privacy. All of their recommendations were spot on.
We are not divers - so we weren't really sure what to expect of Utila - but quickly found there was plenty for us to get into. For the first few days we couldn't pull ourselves off of the daybeds on the porch. The reef and water are beautiful - the dock is the perfect entry point for some of the best snorkeling we've seen. We found the reef creatures to be most active in the morning and saw a very large ray, barracuda, beautiful fan corals and fish of every shape and size - all right in front of the house!! We also had a chance to go to Water Cay with our awesome neighbors from the Pineapple House - some incredible snorkeling on the south side of the island there as well. We saw a huge school of large fish and a couple of Lion Fish as well.
We were very lucky to have such great people all around and made some new friends. A must is dinner at Chez Lola... such a unique experience. Chef Peter also made us dinner at the house and what a treat! That man can cook!
Overall we couldn't have asked for more. The house was perfect and just steps from the crystal clear water. We enjoyed the breeze that swept through when we opened all the doors but had the luxury of AC when we wanted it. The finishes and decorations are contemporary and tasteful and the house was equipped with everything one could need.
What a vacation to remember! If you are looking for a slow pace and place to decompress - look no further.

Perfect get-away house
Never having been to Utila before, we were not sure what to expect of the location, house or area. We were pleasantly suprised by all three! The house is as described, although we did not look at the downstairs bedroom/bath as we had only 4 people. Each room has a view of the Carribean and the kitchen/living area is open and airy. We opened the doors daily to let the outside in and found the breeze to be adequate for keeping cool (and they have the BEST blender of any house we've rented to date, it didn't smoke or burn up with those HUGE ice cubes). Dave and Trish (caretakers) were amazingly accomodating, literally available whenever you need them, yet not in your face all the time or in your business! And their knowledge of the creatures both in and out of the sea was helpful, informative and educational. They only added to our wonderful memories of the vacation and to the colorful character of the area and home. Snorkeling is truly excellent right off the dock and Lola's is a must experience restaurant. Yes, the sand flies were horrible, but dilligent oil or Skin So Soft application kept them from biting. Those in our party who did not do that suffered, be warned. We never return to the same area twice, but this time we are seriously considering. Very private, serene and peaceful vacation, not for the "tourists" who want to be entertained all day and night.

coral house stay
we travel the caribbean every year, this was, by far, the best place yet. snorkeling was crystal clear, diving was excellent, ask for bogdon. house was beautiful and well maintained. managers of property were helpful/resourceful, and can only be described as colorful. locals were all welcoming/friendly. if sensitive, prepare for sand flies that were bad at sunrise/sunset.

Family Trip in Paradise
A group of ten of my friends and family members stayed at both the Coral House and the Lavender House for one week over New Year's. IT WAS HEAVEN!!! The houses are both beautiful, comfortable and a wonderful place to enjoy a group with still plenty of room to get away. The beach and reef were wonderful and we snorkled all day. Dave and Trish were VERY helpful and accomodating and we really wanted for NOTHING! I have already convinced a friend of mine to vacation at the Coral House with his family. Bear in mind that you are not within walking distance to town and this is a vacation to truly enjoy the beauty of where you are and who you are with. I can't wait to go back!!
