Hulili Tropical Fruit Farm- With over 200 five star reviews!
S'amuser!
Notre Aloha,
Todd et Madeleine

Stayed in a country farm like setting. Communication was good

We wanted to spend some time on the lush green side of the island and this location didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the lanai, listening to the sounds of nature. At first I was shocked by the loud frogs but they have their charm, and the hum of fans drowned them out when it was time to sleep. We enjoyed exploring the East island and we appreciated the host’s recommendations for day trips in the welcome booklet. The farm is lovely, as were the sunrises. Definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to be outside the city and close to nature. It’s about a 20 minute drive into Hilo but well worth it. Felt like our own private Hawai’i!

This location is located in a very beautiful iconic countryside of the big island of Hawaii. My girls were very excited about what we were staying at. The views are amazing. Your living in nature well enjoying in comforts of home. The hosts were very friendly. They even brought us over some fresh cut apple bananas and hung them from the avocado tree for us. When we come back we will definitely be booking here again. I would like to thank the host for sharing their beautiful country home with us.

Great property! Everything was just as we expected. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Close to many great spots to see. Very peaceful and quiet!!

This is a great place to stay to get away from it all! Close enough to Hilo to get back into the all of you want. We also wound up driving north around the island to the west side a bit more than towards Hilo.
Just sitting on the porch and looking out at the sky & ocean was so peaceful. Wish we had better weather. Got 1.5 sunrises and one night starry sky out of 7 nights but, that was only the fault of Mother Nature. Still so peaceful in the rain.
The cottage itself is fine for two people, tho I can’t imagine a third person being comfortable.
The only thing I did not know about before booking from reading reviews, was that the ginger cottage was right next to the main house.
Not sharing a wall, but a car port. They have tried to do a good job separating it and noise was only an issue a few times, we did not even bring it up since it was my fault for possibly not asking that question before booking. As I saw nothing about it being so close to the main house in reviews. And many other places we looked at it was a very obvious.
The pineapple cottage is a bit more on its own. I would probably book that one next time.
Great hosts! Thank you again.

Short drive from town, hosts were wonderful sharing some great suggestions for visiting. This property is not your typical vacation spot, perfect for couples or those that don't want a lot of other tourists. You can come & go as you please. Loved our stay!!

Thank you Todd and Madeline for the most relaxing and beautiful five days on the big island. It has been so nice to spend each morning and evening sitting in these rocking chairs watching the orchards and oceans. We have slept great on your comfy bed each night. You are such a sweet, friendly, hard-working family, and it has been a pleasure meeting you both, the kids, the dogs, and, the neighbors duck. We have been adventuring nonstop doing amazing activities for four days. Today, the last day, we wanted to spend it here on the lanai, best day ever! Thank you for an 40th anniversary trip we will never forget. Also, thank you for the muffins, the delicious eggs and the avocados. The last night we stayed up the latest and we watched the most amazing stars from the lanai. It was like being at a planetarium; we ended with a bang. Thank you again, the Greers. PS — The cottage is so much larger than the pictures show, we were also surprised by the huge wardrobe and dresser space. It helped as spread out and feel at home instead of living out of a suitcase. Perfect setup!

Off the beaten path but able to readily access the sites of Hilo, Volcanoes NP, Puna and the Hamakua Coast. If you want to enjoy a little bit of rural Hawaii, this is a great place to stay.

Madeleine has created a private retreat on her farm. The property was well-equipped and super clean. We enjoyed sleeping on the lanai on the bed that is suspended from the ceiling. The location is good for exploring the Hamakua coast. We also were happy to chill out on the farm and enjoy the view.

My wife and I couldn't have been more happy with the hosts and the property. Everything was very well kept and the farm has some of the best sunrises we've seen. Would highly recommend!

We love staying here! It is quiet, peaceful and has an awesome view! A great place to have some downtime. For those who want to explore the island a bit it’s a great location. Out in the country but not that far away to explore restaurants and shopping. We have stayed here multiple times and always are sad to leave!

We had an amazing stay at the Cottage. The experience of hanging out in the Lanai at anytime of the day, but even better at sunrise and sunset, is just unreal. Madeline and Todd are really nice and friendly and very communicative throughout the stay. Especially appreciate the warm welcome muffins :) we had a pleasant stay with being able to walk the farm and even sample some fruit. Our 3 Year old enjoyed the swings and the trampoline that the family gladly share with guests of both cottages.

If you want to see the beautiful Hamakua coast and experience daily living in a natural setting, this is the spot. The hosts are accommodating but unobtrusive. The farm is pristine and relaxing. I highly recommend this listing.

This beautiful farm is off the beaten path and about 25 minutes from Hilo. It is very quiet except for the birds and frogs. The views of the farm and the ocean are amazing and mesmerizing. We sat outside in the rockers and on the hanging bed for hours. The sunrise and sunsets were really beautiful. We left each day to check out local waterfalls, beaches and of course the volcano. A lot of people come over from Kona for just a day trip at a time, but we really enjoyed being able to explore more since we were on this side of the island. There are plenty of good restaurants in Hilo and you have to stop at Ed's Bakery which is really close by. The cottage was clean and had everything you need. You could stay right here and cook your meals in the kitchen. The whole place is really cute and comfortable.
If you need a peaceful place to get away, this place is very relaxing.

We enjoyed our stay, and especially enjoyed relaxing with our coffee and watching all the birds every morning. Try to arrive during daylight, or it could be a little difficult to find. The cottage was clean, had good water pressure, and felt private, and there’s a washer and dryer in the nearby barn with laundry soap provided, which was a plus. Also there’s a smart tv and you can watch your Apps, so that was nice in the evenings. Location is good for traveling up and down this coast.

I recently had the most amazing stay at Hulili Tropical Fruit Farm in Hilo, Hawaii. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the breathtaking sunrise view above the ocean. It was truly a sight to behold and set the tone for a memorable vacation.
One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible service provided by the hosts. They were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. They were always available to answer any questions or provide recommendations, making me feel like a valued guest throughout my stay.
The farm itself was a delight to explore. The chickens that roamed around the property were not only adorable but also added a unique charm to the place. It was amusing to see them follow us around as we explored the beautiful surroundings. Additionally, Lucy the dog stole my heart with her adorable nature and friendly demeanor. She was always ready to greet us with a wagging tail and made us feel right at home.
The location of Hulili Tropical Fruit Farm was perfect. It offered a peaceful and serene atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The lush greenery and tropical fruits surrounding the property added to the overall charm. It truly felt like a tropical paradise.
Overall, my stay at Hulili Tropical Fruit Farm was nothing short of perfect. The combination of the stunning sunrise view, amazing service, and adorable animals made it an unforgettable experience.

The sunrise every morning was awesome! Very clean, well stocked (the Lychee trees too lol), details thought out... and cozy outside on the bed!
Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper (or use the fan as white noise) the Coqui frogs are loud most of the night!
Lucy (dog) and the chickens are sweet!
I'd definitely recommend.

Such a lovely property! Beautiful view! Delicious lychee and the sweetest dog ever, Lucy
Had a very relaxing time and would recommend to anyone visiting the island. Thanks for everything!

My husband and I enjoyed our weeklong stay at Hulili Farm! Waking up to that beautiful ocean view never gets old, it’s breathtaking! The hosts are the kindest, most down to earth couple you will ever meet and their cute little cottage is well stocked. We loved coming “home” every day after exploring the island. Highly recommend, 10/10!

Waking up early mornings to see the sunrise through the fruit trees with the ocean in the background was very peaceful. The property is private, quiet, and very beautiful. It is also in a very convenient spot on the island to explore everything in just a short drive.

Enjoying the sunrise every morning was sublime. My daughter enjoyed the swings and the trampoline very much, and I was delighted to get some dog love from Lucy when I started to miss my own dog back home. Very clean and cozy. Would definitely recommend.

Great little cottage stay in one of the most beautiful parts of Big Island. Everything you could want to be comfortable is there at the cottage and it was a good starting point for seeing sights around this part of the island. Lots of thoughtfulness put into the cottage and while our 2 young kids kept us busy it would be nice to sit outside and enjoy the peaceful view!

Beautiful, peaceful, place.
Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. The cottage was secluded, cozy, clean and fully equipped.
Drinking my morning coffee with an amazing view and walking around the orchard was an amazing experience.
Thank you Madeleine and your family for your kindness and hospitality.
Looking forward to go return.

Enjoyed the privacy and solitude of this property! Tucked away on an easily accessible farm just out side of Hilo. Hosts greeted us when we arrived, ensured we had all we needed and gave us our privacy. Great spot to land between adventures! Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise Madeleine and Todd!

Once you look out over the lychee orchard and onto the ocean from your outside queen bed, you'll never want to leave! Yes, there's a very comfortable king sized bed inside but there's something so cool about an outside bed.
The property sits on an orchard and we were welcome to pick whatever was in season. There were the most amazing limes and mandarin oranges!
The home is very small but has all that you'd need for two people to be completely comfortable. There is a washer/dryer nearby that's easy to use.
The location isn't far from Hilo and all the restaurants and shops.
We'd stay here again if we come back to Hawaii.

What a great place to get away from it all - very clean, spacious, unique space with a wonderful bed. Unfortunately we visited during a very rainy period and so did not get to sleep out on the outside hanging bed, but the porch was large enough for us to sit and gaze at the view. Madeleine was great at communicating and responding to us

The cottage was small but had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay, sitting in the rockers with morning coffee was wonderful. Communication with the owner was great, would love to come back

We spent 4 nights at Hulili following some time on the Kona side. Lovely property; the farm is a beautiful setting and the cottage was VERY clean, comfortable, and private (it's a totally separate structure from the main residence). Ocean view (about 2 miles distant) and if you walk just down the hill a little, you can also look back and see the summit of Mauna Kea (on a clear day). Great location for exploring the Hamakua coast, Hilo town (great food!) as well as points south; we really like the wet/lush side of Hawaii. One particular suggestion: the binder the hosts provide describes a short hike down to the old Hakalau sugar mill, under the highway bridge. Instead of driving to the little parking area, just walk down Chin Chuck Rd to the pedestrian overpass and keep following the road; it adds about 3 miles (total) with a healthy workout heading back up the hill. Anyway... we loved Hulili, thanks again to our great owners/hosts there.

It is such a treat to stay at the farm cottage. We were surrounded by nothing but nature. All we hear is the sound of bird or the rain drops. every morning we drink coffee and enjoyed the morning ocean view, feeling the breeze. It just feel so unreal. Madeleine I was the best host we ever met. Oh. My wife and I really enjoyed the golf range in front of our cottage. Thanks for everything

The cottage was very clean, property (sunrise & sunset) were absolutely beautiful on the lanai. I appreciate VRBO's that are stocked with basics (sun screen, seasonings, tons of towels, etc). The cottage is 20 min away from Hilo, so follow the instructions when the owner states to grocery shop prior to arriving. That was very helpful! High scores and recommendations all around.

Really loved the solitude of the cottage. Starting and ending the day on the porch looking over the lawn, orchard and ocean was calming and relaxing. Not too far from Hilo but a great spot to return to and unwind after a day trip.
