We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. The condo was clean and comfortable. The balcony was very nice and the access to the roof was a plus. It was very hot, so we didn’t really use the hot tub too much. We really enjoyed fishing on the sound as well as swimming in the multiple pools and the lazy river. Access to the beach did require a few elevator rides and a walk, but it wasn’t too bad. Having a beach set-up was a big plus.
The location was great. Close to Destin, but far enough to avoid the massive crowds. There are some great beachfront restaurants right across the street and the pier is within walking distance. We thought we would be driving into Destin a few times, but only went once to do a fishing charter. Turns out we didn’t even need to do that because there are Charters right next door to this resort. Other than going to the grocery store, there is no need to ever get back in your car. Everything you would want to do is right at your doorstep.
I can’t wait to go back.

We enjoyed our stay in the Heron building. The pools & property was well maintained. Our unit was spacious & decorated beautifully. Shelley provided a portable AC unit which was used in the master bedroom. We felt the bedrooms were a little warm, but understood as we stayed in August. We would definitely return to Destin West.

The condo was a great layout for our family of 6. The location and view were amazing. I really enjoyed watching the dolphins play in the bay right in front of the condo in the mornings. It was so peaceful. The stay was great up until the few hours after we checked out. I received an email from the host upset and claiming that we left a dirty diaper and hangers under one of the bed. I explained that we didn’t have anyone in diapers nor did we use any hangers during our trip. We conversed back and forth a bit regarding the issue and she was able to finally determine it was a housekeeping issue and from a previous guest and was then very apologetic. It was a bummer this happened and put a little damper on the whole experience but I was relieved that she realized it wasn’t us who left the mess under the bed.

Host was very responsive. Condo was exceptional and very clean. Easy walk to the beach, miniature golf, and places to eat. We loved the lazy river and the property! Everything was wonderful and we hope to back soon!

We performed at a favorite charity event, Rock by the Sea. The accommodations were spectacular, the location in proximity to the venue can't be beat. The lazy river is AMAZING! We hope to be invited back.

This condo/penthouse was wonderful. Very clean and spacious for our whole family. The kids loved the lazy river, outdoor pools/hot tubs in the common area. Rick’s on the island is very convenient if you need a place to eat and don’t want to drive- It’s right next door! Shelly is great at communicating if you need anything. I would highly recommend!

With young kids we found the condo easy to relax in and easy to get to the pool and a beautiful beach. A quick walk to good shopping and food on the boardwalk or a short drive to other places. The condo was very comfortable and spacious.

I can’t even begin to tell you what an amazing experience we had at Shelley’s place! The space is gorgeous and FULL of anything you could ever want or need. We cooked every meal (she had all the kitchen equipment possible!) and spent evenings snuggling on the couch watching movies and she had so many extra pillows and blankets, which was wonderful! The hot tub on the roof was such an added bonus, especially being there in December! The views were incredible, the property itself was lovely, and when we wanted to walk on the beach it was a quick few steps across the sky walk! We can’t wait to stay here again- what an incredible experience we had! Thank you Shelley!!

I have been staying at condos at Destin West for about 16 years now, and this is by far my favorite condo! Impeccably clean, nice size rooms, and perfect location. Owner (Shelley) was awesome and super responsive with her communication. The only downside is that there is not a third bathroom/powder room, but we managed just fine. I would absolutely stay here again.

This was our first trip to Okaloosa Island. We loved that it was quiet and not overly crowded. Yet you could walk to restaurants and shops and drive into Destin quickly. We liked staying on the bay side because of the lazy river. But it was also nice to easily walk over to the beach side. The property was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The views from the balconies were amazing. We would visit again.

We loved our stay here! This beautiful condo was clean, up to date and well cared for! The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the master had beautiful views. The living room and dining room were very comfortable and had great views as well. We absolutely loved the balconies! Watching the sunset from the roof top was a treat! Accessing the beach was easy we drove to the beach side of the resort and parked a few times, but walked most of the time. The beach was not overly crowded and the included beach set-up (2 chairs and umbrella) was very appreciated. We loved the ease of walking to the Boardwalk from the resort beach for coffee, fireworks and meals. We also loved the location, it was easy to get to our plans in Destin and various grocery stores and restaurants. We would love to spend another vacation here! The owner was easy to contact and very helpful! We are thankful for such a pleasant rental experience, it made enjoying our vacation very easy! Wonderful property and owners!

This was the perfect spot for our mom and daughters senior spring break getaway. Beautiful condo but the rooftop deck and hot tub was our favorite. Even with the cooler temps we had our first few days we were still able to soak up the sunshine. Just a short walk to the beach or a few steps downstairs to the pools and lazy river.
Would highly recommend this condo to anyone.
It would have been nice to have some beach towels, beach chairs, cooler and things like that. Having to bring so much extra stuff to enjoy the amenities that are advertised was a bit disappointing.
Having some blankets for the beds for those cooler nights and more bath towels would have made our stay much more comfortable as well. The girls wanted to use the pull out bed in living area one night and were unable to as there were no extra linens or pillows.

We enjoyed our stay. We had a quick trip for a wedding. Wish we could have stayed a little longer. Everything was nice and clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend. For your information this property has a regular coffee pot and a k-cup coffee maker and we were pleasantly surprised with 2 isolating fans in the master closet. It has pretty much everything you might need. Beautiful view on top deck with jacuzzi.

Our family enjoyed the penthouse space so much. The spacious living room allowed for indoor fun for our group of 6 on cooler days and the rooftop was a blast on warmer days. Shelly was responsive and helpful when we had trouble with the hot tub. We hope to return in the future.

The host was very responsive and answered every question I thrown her way. She even helped me with early check in and later check out time with me staying there the night of my wedding. We had such a great time here! We had a group of 5 adults and there was plenty of space for all of us. The views are amazing and having a private hot tub was great, especially at night. On our last day we had an incident on the property outside of the condo and it was so easy to communicate with Shelley to get the information we needed (even though it was pretty early in the morning), which was SO appreciated. We all agreed that we will definitely go back!

Great time in Ft. Walton
After numerous vacations with 2 bedrooms that sleep 6 we have grown enough that we look for 3 bedrooms now. This condo was a great fit for the 6 of us. I was able to work remotely during the week while the rest of the family enjoyed the multiple pools and easy access to the beach. Loved the extra space on the rooftop. It would have been nice to have a little more furniture on the rooftop, but overall the space was great. Also easy to walk to restaurants since the main road can get very busy.

Best Condo
This was our third stay at this Destin West condo and we had a fantastic vacation. We just missed Tropical Storm Fred. Shelley is great to work with. Super clean and best equipped kitchen of any place we have stayed. The property has everything: beautiful Bay view, pools and lazy river, easy access to the Gulf, workout room and plenty of space. Can't wait to comeback!

Amazing Condo
The condo was so clean and sooo spacious! We had 4 adults and 4 teenagers (one 9yo) and there was plenty of room to spread out.
We LOVED the pool and being able to play in the bay. The beach was a very short walk away and so nice! We wish the chair rentals would have been included but instead we walked down the beach and had a long stretch in front of the dunes allll to ourselves! Win!

We absolutely loved everything about this property...from the spacious, comfortable condo to the pools, beach, nearby activities, restaurants, rooftop hot tub...and the view is stunning! Shelley was very responsive and provided us with some great information regarding nearby restaurants and activities. We had a great time and can't wait to come back again!

This is a great rental property. Penthouse condo is spacious, including a well-stocked kitchen and separate, legit laundry room (not a noisy stack closet that you can hear throughout the unit). Check-in is no contact, as advertised. The hot tub has some jets that no longer work, but that’s a minor detail. And the view up top more than made up for that. You’ll see some folks who rent on the bayside complain about the “hike” to the beach. Frankly, those folks are just lazy. It’s fine. Didn’t measure the length or the time. Just enjoyed the stroll and the destination. It’s a vacation; if you’re obsessing over a walk that ends at the Emerald coast, well, I can’t help you. I’d love to stay here again.
