My family fell in love with this house as soon as we stepped foot in the door. It was neat, clean and very welcoming. The historic build of the home added a charming firel towards its atmosphere, but did also provide some challenges. The spiral staircase upstairs could have been challenging for someone with mobility issues, but we were fine. One or two more chairs for comfy cozy seating after a long day touring the town would have made it just a tiny bit nicer, but overall our family loved our stay! They actually spoke of trying to visit again in the near future.

This was a really fun property to stay in and gave us a sense of staying in an authentic Philly house. The stairs were a bit tough, but you'll be fine if you hang on the handle. And the provided fans in each bedroom made sleeping much easier.

We had an amazing stay at this great 3-story home in Philly. The property was very clean and well-maintained, reflecting its historic charm beautifully. Its location was perfect, with a short walk to bars and delightful cafes. While we managed to find a street parking spot during the day, we opted to use a nearby parking garage overnight for convenience. Highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Philadelphia. We would definitely book again!

Gorgeous "antique" style property, stayed with friends and enjoyed the living room and kitchen areas a lot. The bedrooms were very cool with exposed beams and brick. A lot of fun stuff to do in the neighborhood, great cafes and food.

Good location but there are some issues
So, the good first. The location is excellent. It was in a good location to walk to everything in the historic part of Philly. We had issues with cleanliness of property and fact that the couch was covered by a sheet. This may have been due to late departure of the guests before us who were there when we arrived around 1 pm.The beds had no top sheet. The second floor bed was comfortable. My daughter described one of the third floor beds as “thin and uncomfortable.”

Fabulous Philly Rental
Jesse helped make our stay in Philadelphia a very enjoyable one. Leading up to our arrival he made himself very accessible via email to any of our questions about the area and the property.
The location was great, a stones throw from most of the sites in the city. Parking was a breeze as there was a safe, underground garage which charged a very reasonable rate for the night.
The home was very clean and had all of the furnishings one would expect/need.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Jesse’s rental to anyone who is visiting the city.
Thank you Jesse for a job very well done.

An amazing historic house
Staying in this beautifully restored historic house was a unique experience. We really enjoyed the many wonderful details in the kitchen, the bathroom and the living area. It is centrally located though on a quiet street. Thank you.

Perfect for a night out!
This place is in the perfect location if you are doing a night out in Philly. My sisters and cousins stayed there for a ladies night. The place is beyond cute and authentic to “old Philly”. Love how they have maintained the original decor of the house but have upgraded where it really counts- mattresses were very comfortable, linens were amazing, house was very clean. The owners were so helpful and accommodating. We would definitely book again!

location , location , location
Fantastic location. We spent two nights here and would do it again. Jesse was only a text away when we had question. A few things to note....I would not recommend staying here if you have small children or some one with knee, hips our gait issues. This house is from the 1800's the stairs are spiral style wood and can pose a challenge. Personally we didn't mind and it added to the character of the house but for small children or disabled this is not the house for you. If you are looking for a clean, safe place to stay with a fantastic location This is the place for you! Walk to Marrakesh restaurant and Dmitri's for fantastic dinners. We walked a lot and Uber was very affordable to get to other locations. Thank you for sharing your city with us!

Thanksgiving in Philly
Our family of four enjoyed a comfortable 5 day stay here over a Thanksgiving holiday. The beds are comfortable and the street was very quiet at night. The kitchen was fully equipped and well-accommodated our needs. The neighborhood has a great variety of stores and restaurants. We found excellent provisions at the many Italian shops and grocers on 9th Street, nearby the house. The location has good access to the entire city which we discovered mostly on foot.

Five kids in Philly
We had so much more fun in Philly that we expected! We took our 5 kids for 4 days and this house was a huge part of making it a great trip. Jesse was super helpful and had lots of recommendations for us. I was a little uneasy as I had never been to Philly before but after the first few hours we felt comfortable and safe. The house is great, just know what it is and you will be fine, they don't make them like this anymore! The stairs are narrow and steep, just go slow. The neighborhood is fun, right on South Street which has tons of restaurants, shops and nightlife. It is a busy place at night! The house is a few blocks from the historic area which we walked to everyday. It's also an easy walk to the waterfront, our kids loved the hammock garden at Spruce Street Harbor Park. Know that the streets are super narrow, our minivan barely fit down Orianna Street, which is the nearest street you can drive on to get close to the house. I'm glad we didn't drive our suburban! A public parking garage is about a block away, it's easy. We though Philly just had the liberty bell and Independence Hall, boy were we wrong! There is SO much to see, museums and historic sites everywhere! 4 days was not enough so we are planning another trip. Restaurants we liked: Jim's Steaks is just a block away, Jones restaurant is cool with great staff, that's just a block from the visitor center. Rita's served us several times with cold, sweet treats, it's on South Street, not far from the house. Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and lots more are right in the neighborhood. We also drove to a Phillies game, that was easier than expected, there is plenty of parking by the park, unlike Fenway. It's about a 15 minute drive. Thanks Jesse!

Quiet Historic Stay
We really liked the inside charm of this property, it had everything we needed for our stay. The basement laundry was nice to have, but please note the stairs are steep. The third floor bedrooms were perfect for our teens. The staircase is steep but has handrails that made it easy to get up and down. The location is on a quiet street which we loved. Easy walking to all the sights, great coffee at Milk & Honey around the corner and lots a places to eat. Parking was easy in the garage at 3rd and South Street. The issue we had was with the curb appeal upon arrival as well as the upkeep of the street ( we know about being in a city) during the week. Not under the owners control... some of the issues were right outside the property doors. When we arrived there was random garbage along the street as well as a suitcase ( by its contents I am thinking it was left there by someone who was sleeping there ) with its contents laying in the street for the week. The owners were able to get the neighbor's left bags of garbage from the previous week removed for us. We would have given the property a 5/5 but the outside continued to be a "sore sight" during the week.

girls overnight
My girlfriends and I had a great time at this adorable location! We really enjoyed the back patio before we went out to dinner for our bride-to-be. There was ample space to accommodate all of us (6 girls total; originally supposed to be 8). Please keep in mind there are very steep winding stairs to the bedrooms which take some skill to maneuver in heels! Jesse was amazing at getting back to me right away with any questions I had. Great area to explore with a farmer's market on Sunday that is super close to this location. Thanks again Jesse!!

Great location, some challenges due to age of house.
The beds are comfortable and a nicely appointed kitchen. It was functional and pleasant to stay for a family of 4 adults and a toddler. Great location. The small spiral staircases were challenging for my young daughter and my older parents. Also, the water pressure in the shower was lacking.

Character home in interesting part of the city, close to shops, cafes and the river.
We were very comfortable in this quaint 3 story home. Walking distance to shops, river parks and museums. Enjoyed breakfast at the Famous Fourth St Deli and hired Citibikes for a ride up the river bikeway. Great place to stay for 4 adults who are mobile enough to climb the stairs. Host very responsive and check in very easy.

Quaint and quirky
Stayed for a quick overnight between graduation events. Charming, very old row house. All we really needed were comfortable beds, a shower and some plates/utensils for breakfast. Check, check, check. Amenities were clearly available, no hunting around needed. Because our schedule was so nutty, we didn't arrive at the house until very late so it was nice to have a lockbox entry. Owner immediately responsive to all my early questions. As noted in other reviews, there is a 2-flight would-never-pass-code-today steep staircase, and the bathroom has a deep claw tub shower--so not a good set-up for anyone with mobility issues. The neighborhood had a number of cute places open early to grab bagels, coffee, etc.

Cute place but watch those stairs!
This is a very cute apartment in a very funky neighborhood. The owner was attentive and the apartment clean. However this is a very narrow building and the second and third floor are accessed by an exceptionally narrow spiral staircase with at least one broken step. This would be a bad place for anyone with physical disabilities, older people or folks with young children to stay. It was fine for us but i dreaded using the staircase. In addition it is a showerbin a claw bathtub which is also not great for older folks and anyone with infirmaries.

Nice stay at a nice property in a cool neighborhood.
The house is very nice and clean. The pictures make it seem a little bigger than it is but it wasn't a problem. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Philly.

Great Location, Charming House, Responsive Owners
I stayed in this home with my three young children (5, 4 and 2). We were very comfortable. The Apple TV was a great perk. Great restaurants for kids nearby, as well as cafes for morning coffee runs. There was a reasonably priced parking lot just a block away, and I even found street parking for a couple of the nights of our stay. Jesse was very responsive, courteous and accommodating -- at the last minute, we were even able to extend our stay an extra day. My only caveat is that the stairs were sort of tricky for my little ones, but they did fine with them if they took care. Also, there were baby gates available for use -- unfortunately, my youngest is a climber, so not as useful for us as they would be for other families ;) In sum, I highly recommend this rental and definitely hope to rent it again for our future trips to Philly.

Great location, cute house
We stayed in the house for a bachelorette party weekend. Great location for Philly attractions and restaurants, as well as a nice home to spend time together as a group. Netflix/Apple TV options were a huge plus. Lots of room for sleeping -- all six gals had separate sleeping spaces. Likewise, the owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with, always responded within a few minutes. Took some other reviewers' advice and parked in the lot on Bainbridge instead of dealing with street parking.

Cute historic house on a little alleyway.
House is as pictures depict. Jesse was easy to work with and quick response time. House comes with everything you would need. We slept 6 and it was comfortable. The two couches are not pull outs as you would think- I would not consider them comfortable at all, but if someone can sleep anywhere, I'd say they could work. Parked our van right near the house- across Bainbridge from the house. Kind of the corner of it and 3rd. It was $20 a night. Not bad for the city and so close to loading and unloading. The stairs are steep, but have nice handles to get up and down. If any mobility issues- this would be difficult. It was a quiet neighborhood and easy to come and go. This house is right near South St which has many places to eat. Jim's steaks has good Philly cheesesteaks. If you have the right walking shoes....bring them. We walked all over the city. It was wonderful and we enjoyed the city life and all Philadelphia has to offer. Bareburger was our first dinner there. Highly recommended. If you go to the North end across the Schuykill River, I recommend Spread Bagelry. Other than food, I really enjoyed walking at night and seeing the lights and people. We ran into a band of tubas, trombones, drums and more of family/friends playing together and it was amazing. You will not be disappointed in Philly or the house.

Perfect location & Great Owner
This property is the perfect location for all Philadelphia sites. All the "Independence Hall" sites are a 15 minute walk. The Reading Terminal Market and City Hall are 30 minutes. Also, the owner couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. Two things you'll want to know before you rent this place, though. First, parking is tough to find. Most street parking is two hours only. On this, I highly recommend the E-Z Park at 419 Bainbridge Street. They changed me $15 a day, easily cheapest around there, but I had to leave my car there the whole time. This was fine as we were on foot the whole time. Second, we had 7 people (two adults, 4 teenagers and one 10 year old). This place was perfect for that size and we all had bed space. However, if you wanted to push it to 10 people it's going to be tight. Other than that, this is truly a great property. Just loved it.

Quaint historic home in great location
This historic home is in a great location - walking distance to many local restaurants and bars. It's pretty cool to stay in such an old historic home. The communication from the owners was great.

We stayed here during the night before my wedding. The beautiful historic house was a wonderful backdrop for my getting ready photos. Steps away from south street, you have the option to relax in the house or party a few block away at the many chill spots. As a local this was a perfect way to come down from city life, before the wedding.

Located within walking distance of the Liberty Bell, Whole Foods and many restaurants/shops. I can't say enough about how great the owner was to work with (quick response time, helpful and kind). This is an old home but has LOTS of character. As others mentioned, the stairs are extremely steep so I wouldn't recommend to anyone with limited mobility. Overall a wonderful experience!

This home was the perfect place for us to rent for the night. For my wife's 40th birthday party we spent the day walking around the city and this was the perfect place to come back to in the afternoon before we heading out again. We had 7 people spending the night and throughout our time there had up to 11 people in the house. All 11 of us were able to fit comfortably in the downstairs and outside patio during our downtime and its convenient to everything! From the bars on South St., the liquor store a few blocks away, the parking a block over, and some amazing restaurants for brunch!
The house itself has loads of character and charm. It's nicely decorated, very clean, and includes everything you would need.

We took a field trip to Philly and I didn't stay at this house but the girls did. They enjoyed the stay and the house. We walked to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross house, the City Tavern, and the Seaport Museum. the location was perfect for our trip. Jesse was wonderful to work with and very accommodating for my group. I would highly recommend staying here for convenience and budget! Great trip for us! Thank you Jesse!

Location could not be better. Home is charming and full of character. Beautiful exposed brick. Very steep stairs. Unstable areas in upstairs bedroom floor. Not recommended for individuals with mobility issues. Would highly recommend if mobility is not an issue though!

We stayed here with our family of four. The house was so cozy and I loved the historic feel of it too. Although we had two small kids with us and the house has some crazy steep stairs, they provided baby gates to keep the kids off them.
The only negative is parking but that's to be expected in the city. Amazingly, we stayed there 5 nights and never got a parking ticket and lucked out with good parking a few times. There are a couple of lots near by and street parking was manageable. The house was filled with everything to make it feel like being at home including the washer/dryer, lots of linens and a full kitchen. I would totally recommend staying here. The owner, Jesse was also very accommodating and easy to communicate with via text. He was quick to respond to any questions we had.

We rented this historic 3 story home to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in with our two college age kids. It sits on a quiet narrow cross street near the busy 4th and South Street intersection. Right around the corner you find ethnic restaurants, the famous Jims Steaks (the best Philly Cheesesteak in the city - sorry Pats and Genos fans), unusual boutiques, perhaps the best bagels in town, and a classic NY style deli. Since we were cookong Thanksgiving dinner in, we were releived to find a Whole Foods 8 or so blocks away. A shorter walk in the same direction you find Nomad Pizza and Serpico for other dining options. Both were delicious.
The house had everything we needed and the instructions from Jesse were very friendly and thorough. We are a close family and not big people, so the small historic rooms and very steep staircase did not bother us at all.
I would no only recommend this charming home but hope to stay there again in the near future!
4.0 / 10.0
Our group of five adults stayed here for two nights in Nov 2015. The house is a very old row house with a lot of character in an older, eclectic neighborhood. The location is fantastic. You are right in the middle of a fun area with lots of shops and restaurants/bars (but far enough off the main drag so that noise was not an issue). A walk of 15-20 minutes will get you to other great locations such as Penns Landing. We used Uber on several occasions and never had to wait more than five minutes, so there are transportation options that are easy and convenient. The house itself is three narrow floors with sleeping surfaces for at least six individuals (without having to share). This was a big plus for our group and very rare compared to the other places we considered, particularly the ones in the same area. There is only one bathroom, but we knew that going in so we dealt with it. The house is in good shape, but it does show it's age (by design). We thought it was very cool and historic, but if you are expecting a historic property with all modern interior amenities this may not be your place. The staircase mentioned in other reviews could be an issue for real small children or folks with mobility issues. There is a pull out couch on the first floor however. Communication with the owners was great throughout the whole process. In fact we initially paid for six of us. When one dropped out early in the process the owners promptly refunded the addl charge. Thank you for that. Just wish we had the opportunity to meet! The only two drawbacks our group had were the less than great water pressure in the shower and the fact that we couldn't watch live tv (they have an Apple tv). This was a bit of a bummer since we were in Philly for a football game and ultimately couldn't watch the Sunday night NFL game at the house like we had initially planned. Neither of these issues would be a deal-breaker for us in the future. Bottom line is that this is a really cool, unique place in a great spot. Would definitely stay here again. Had there been an option to choose four and a half stars we would have done so. Thanks much
