The property is located minutes away from the central. I would stay at this property again. 5 out of 5!

The house was amazing and the host was very helpful. The house was spacious and was well taken care of. The only complaint I have was the house was hard to find and Uber app doesn't like the location always place your pickup a block away. La casa de Los Abuelos was a fantastic stay for me and my family. We would definitely be back when we come back to Antigua.

What a great choice to stay at this property! It is located a little bit out of town and difficult to locate at first but easily walkable to the center of town (10 minutes). All beds were comfortable and Rigo and Juanita were very responsive but not intrusive at all. Some construction noise starting 7am during the week, but not an issue for us. Very very clean, good kitchen facilities, though no stock items at all (not even salt/pepper). This was fine as we eat out every meal in nearby outdoor cafes and restaurants. City of Antigua has so much to explore, and we felt very safe. Also, Uber was always an option if we wanted to go a bit further or didn’t want to walk back. Definitely would stay here again!!

Beautiful house in quiet but convenient neighbourhood
Our family spent a wonderful Easter Week in the property. Antigua is rammed and very noisy with the processions but this house is away from the noise but easily accessible via a $2-3 Uber or 10 minute walk. The house is beautifully furnished and very well equipped- a real home from home. The cleaner Juanita is adorable and very proficient. The terrace views of Volcano Agua are also amazing. We loved it and would 100% recommend and come back. It has no pool but access to that can be purchased daily at The Porta Antigua (very close by) or Soleil Hotels for the days when your kids want to splash about. Loved it.

Best house of all our one month stays
We have done several one month stays in other locations and this is by far the nicest house. All the rooms on the 1st floor (2 living rooms and the dinning room) look out on a courtyard though huge windows. It is filled with original art.
Both the guest bedrooms on the 1st floor have their own bathrooms. Most importantly, for me, they have desks. In addition there was a wifi repeater in the room. I was able to set up my 27” display and work just as I do back in Sonoma, CA. The Internet was very good.
The master bedroom is on the 2nd floor and is huge, with a fireplace. It has a deck that looks down into the courtyard and over to the Agua Volcano. I will miss getting up every morning, going out on the deck and looking at the Volcano, plus usually taking a picture of it. We often meditated on the deck. The master also had a wifi repeater so the signal was strong on the 2nd floor.
We had a staff of two people serving us. Juanita cleaned the house on Monday, Wed and Friday - plus did our laundry. Marylou took Spanish everyday and loved practicing it with Juanita. She and Marylou became friends - having conversations in Spanish. Effrian is the property manager and takes care of the yard. One night we wanted a fire and he built a great one in the beautiful fireplace in the living room.
The house is very close to two places that became favorites. I think we ate lunch at Vivero & Cafe de la Escalonia every other day. You pass by it on your walk downtown. The restaurant is in a beautiful garden setting. Toward the end we discovered Caoba Farms, the same distance, but going away from town.
Antigua has great Uber service and if we were out at night we took one home from the center of the town for about $2.
Eugenia, the owner, was always very responsive to all my inquires both before renting and during our stay.

Beautiful home!
The house is truly stunning and well maintained. We love the property. Juana the cleaning lady was lovely too. We felt like it was home straight away.
It’s a great place to entertain from and have friends over as there’s plenty of space to relax.
The only little niggle was the building work going on from early on the mornings made it noisy but apart from that it was a lovely stay.

Perfect secluded home
We had a hard time finding the house with our driver from Guatemala City
The front of the house shows a garden but actually the garden is behind a huge double door. our driver was amazing and took us right to the door as he spoke much better Spanish than we did . And There we were! In a very secluded neighborhood . Opened the front door and the house was amazing! Beautiful furniture with lovely textile and accents from the area.
We had an lovely bedroom on the 2nd floor with a deck where we could sit and watch volcano Agua. The walk to town was about 15 minutes but we had fresh orange juice and lots of friends we made on the way. I cannot praise this house more ..Wonderful! Only thing I would ha e liked was a garden lounger to sit outside and dream and watch the stars. Efrian the caretaker was helpful and always available...will go back to this house anytime
Eugenia who arranged and was my main contact during the booking process was also amazing. I had no anxiety...I knew I was going to a marvelous place and it more than met my expectations thanks to all of you dear people .Isabella

Wonderful Stay
The casa is beautiful and well maintained. My wife is an artist, and will only hang original pieces of art in our home, the owners of this casa felt the same. The instant we stepped through the front door we imediately felt at home. Our arrival was a bit scary at first. We came at night, the driver could not find the casa, it is isolated and the only home on the street ( although they are buiding two more ).When we pulled up my wife gave me this frightened look, as to where the hell have you taken us.In the mean time I was also thinking of a plan "B", then we opened the front door and an imediate sense of calm overcame us.The only negative we could give this home, which is also a positive is the location. It is isolated at the end of a dead end street, that doesn't really exist for taxi or Tut Tut drivers until you actually direct them there( by flagging them down off a main road) We liked it, others may not. It is also a good 20 minute brisk walk to the parque central. They have started to build two other homes on the street, one directly across from this casa. The Guatemalans are hard workers and everthing they do they try to do by hand. The sound of construction isn't that loud, but it goes 7 am, til 7 pm, 7 days a week. I enjoyed watching the process and the workers were kind and friendly. If the sound of home construction bothers you, you may want to wait a few years before you rent in this area. If you have limited walking abilities, this place is not for you. We brought an 81 year old family member and it was a struggle to get him out until we established a relationship with a taxi driver. For the abled bodied there is no issue. This home for us was 5 stars, we liked the isolation, and our daughters enjoyed the thought of the country feel, even though you were still in the city

Very agreable, perfectly maintained and well decorated property
This very agreable colonial house is located on the southern edge of Antigua, yet within easy walking distance from the central square. It exremely well decorated without too much ostentation and has all the necessary modern appliances and equipment. Tha master bedroom on the 2nd floor is very spacious. The upper terrace offers a spectacular view of the Agua Volcano and is a peaceful place to rest and read. Rigo the caretaker is very nice and helpful (eg how to work the BBQ or bringing wood for the chimney when evening are cool). Rosa the house help who comes 3 times a week to clean the house and to the washing is a very nice and soft spoken lady. Last but not least, Eugenia Pinto, the owner, is very accomodatind and quick to answer any queries.

Real house in your dreams
I won't repeat what has already been written, it is all true of how peaceful and quiet the area is ,what an incredible house ,
My 10 day stay were nights so quiet ,you wondered if you were only 5 minutes away from downtown Antigua ,
the days you were awakened by the birds .
Eugenia's help made my stay tough to leave , of the many kind acts ,two stand out , I was leaving at 4:00 AM, in the morning ,so the maid "Juana" was cleaning , she was waiting on my laundry to be finished, when I told her , just to go on home, because it was getting late ,I could take them from the dryer .
So 30 minutes pass, and I go to get them ,and there she is folding them for me , she said I would be leaving so early , she did not want me to forget them .
Same with Rigo, the guardian , I open my door ,at around 3:45 AM in the morning ,and he has already gone out to open both gates , to allow the taxi to come the front door. I had told him the night before ,I could do this ,these may sound like small gestures , but they were both done out of kindness, such is the nature of the Guatemalan people , what a amazing country and house to return home to after ,seeing the city and countryside.
And a plus is Rigo's adorable dog, greeting you with playfulness.
Mil gracias Eugenia ,for sharing your home , my girlfriend ,who is Guatemalan, and her family enjoyed their stay at fantasy Island, (their words )
So if you want your version of a dream home and vacation , book this house and live your dreams
One note of observation ,if you put screens on the kitchen window ,and one of the patio doors ,the breeze would be welcomed in the afternoons, without the flying bugs invading the house , just a suggestion.

Still Ideal
We have just returned home from Antigua, after another wonderful sojourn at this lovely home. The house is in near excellent condition and is diligently maintained by the wonderful housekeeper Juana and carefully looked after by the equally wonderful caretaker Rigo. This time we stayed three months ( 90 days ) and never once second-guessed our choice. The wooded area bordering the property is filled with bird song morning and evening, and the location ( 20 minutes walking from the plaza ) puts it beyond the nightly noise of the city center. Just south Agua volcano dominates the skyline. This quiet neighborhood is safe as well as secure; Rigo nightly locks the 2 iron gates barring both car and foot traffic. The renter is provided keys to these gates. If you should have a vehicle, you can park securely right in front of the house door. There is ( along with the caretakers house ) one other house, which, during our time here, has seldom been occupied other than on the ocassional weekend. The property is at the end of a cul-du-sac ( sin salida ) so there is never any street traffic. The property interior is exactly as represented by the owner on this site. There is potable water at one tap in the kitchen. I recommend having Rigo arrange for bottled water delivery, 5 galon carbouy, to your door, and sitting this up on the stool in the kitchen. Attach a pump ( 10 USD ) at tne Bodegona Grocery. ( Such is typical of most of Guatemala as very few houses have more than a claypot filtration system and ultraviolet light systems are extremely rare.) Cost, with returned empty, 16 Q, about 2 USD. Water pressure is very good, and the water is hot. Two TV's and DVD, English language news: BBC and three South Florida srations. WIFI is adequate, but best connection is limited to 2 devices at one time, after which additional online presence slows the connectivity. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare full meals and the dinning area adjacent seats up to 8 persons. The two living rooms are unique as is the glassed in view of the lovely interior garden. If transportation is required to/ from store ( city center ) a tuc-tuc will suffice for 20Q and a taxi for 50Q. The upstairs bedroom suite features a roomy walk-in closet as well as a key operated security box. All 3 bedrooms are ensuite. The small terrace off the upstairs bedroom is a nice bonus for early morning coffee or late afternoon wine. Come and enjoy!

Ideal Home
We two stayed here for 30 days during the month of March 2015. We found the accommodations to be ideal, as we enjoyed both the relative seclusion and the opportunity afforded for daily exercise in the walk into the center of Antigua to the Plaza and the Bodegona and open market. When burdened with purchase, we took a Tuk-Tuk. The home is both comfortable and the decor beautiful. Dining and living areas are both comfortable and commodious and the view of the small interior garden beautiful. The kitchen, immediate to the dinning room, provides easy access and is well appointed with modern appliances. The small garage with washer/dryer unit is just off the dining area and affords access to the interior garden. The two main floor bedrooms are roomy as are their full ensuites bathrooms. There is a half bathroom conveniently located between living and dinning areas. The master bedroom on the second floor is huge, complete with fireplace and a full bathroom and a walkin closet. The terrace is just off this master suite and affords an unobstructed view of Volcan Agua. The housekeeper Juana is a pure delight and the property caretaker Rigo most polite and ever helpful. During our month we entertained two guests, friends from North America, who were astounded by the house and the town of Antigua. I can make no better recommendation of the property than to say that within a week of departing for our home we made the decision to book this property for three months in 2016 for what will be our third winter in Antigua. Were the property for sale, I would buy it!

Simply the best vacations ever!!
It is not our first time at this amazing house...we always come back for our best vacations ever!!! The description of the house, their amenities and the service of their caretakers don't do justice to what you will get when you're there. The house is comfortable in a secluded part of Antigua, near Mesón Panza Verde and Vivero Escalonia, where you can relax and find peace in every corner. Its decoration, with fine Guatemalan art pieces, brings to you the atmosphere of which Antigua is well known: Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Eveything you need is there so just bring your clothes and your desire for the most wonderful vacation ever. We cannot thank you enough Eugenia. We already are looking forward to our next trip. We send you our best wishes.

Beautiful Villa, Volcano View, Peaceful
We arrived at this Villa on the afternoon of Feb 9th, 2015 and were greeted by both the house keeper Juana and the grounds keeper Rigo. The map that was provided to us prior to our trip was clear and concise and we found the Villa easily. Juana gave us a tour of the Villa, showing us where everything was located. She speaks no English but I speak enough Spanish that communicating with her was fairly easy.
The Villa, located on the south side of the city, is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need if you plan on preparing your own meals. Sound carries well in this area (dogs barking, birds singing, music playing) so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper. Except for the weekends, it was pretty quiet. The view from the 2nd floor terrace is amazing and a nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee anytime during the day. There is a safe provided in the master bedroom closet.
Parque Central is just short of a mile from the Villa. Unless you call for a tuk tuk or cab, you are going to be doing a lot of walking. Taking into consideration, cobblestone streets, crowds and traffic, it will take approximately 20 to 25 minutes to reach the Park. My husband and I logged between 5-7 miles per day for the 16 days we spent here. Great exercise but I can't stress enough to wear good walking shoes. My hiking boots worked the best. We took a different street each day walking into town. It was a fabulous way to discover cafes, tiendas, hotels, and all the little things in between. I wouldn't have wanted to do it any different. Our entire vacation was for the purpose of discovering the hidden jewel that is Antigua.
Rigo was available at most anytime on any day of the week, since he stays in a small attached bldg next to the villa. Juana works on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. A clothes washer and dryer are available for doing laundry, allowing us to pack fewer clothes.
I would absolutely recommend this Villa to anyone vacationing here.
