Luxury Lake Cabin by New River Trail w/ Dock/Canoes/Steam Room/Fireplaces...

Wonderful cabin with a beautiful view.

This was our second time visiting Lost Horizon, and we absolutely loved our stay. The views are amazing! We kayaked, biked, relaxed by the water and on huge deck over looking the water. The house was decorated for autumn and had everything we needed for a great fall weekend. Deck table with gas firepit was awesome. Debbie was great! We appreciate her sharing such a nice cabin.

We had a great 3 night visit in October. The cabin is lovely, especially the wonderful river views. We enjoyed a lot of time outside on the deck, hiked a bit of the New River Trail, played a round of golf in Redford and visited The Draper Mercantile. We went down to the river and tried out the kayaks too. It was relaxing and fun.

We really enjoyed staying at Lost Horizon. It was perfect for our time together as a family. The house was awesome and we loved it. The setting is the best. We really enjoyed going down to the dock and taking the canoe out several times. It was the perfect getaway for family time.

We love Lost Horizon! This was our 3rd time staying here and the cabin is just perfect. We used the fire pit to roast S’mores, and the charcoal grill for burgers & hot dogs! The kayak and canoe got a lot of use and we brought our fishing polls to fish off the dock!

My family had a stay at the cabin for the 4th of July. The cabin was great. Stocked with everything you need. You do need to drive down to the dock, but it's super close (like 2 minutes). The dock area is fantastic and we spent many hours out there playing in the water. Cabin is beautiful. Fish pond outside was a huge hit with my 8 year old. Overall a fantastic place and we can't wait to come back.

Totally enjoyed the property - beautiful house and views with great amenities. Only down side was the 10 AM check out time and everything you had to do to prepare for the cleaners. Was given some extra time but still stressful. Couldn’t really enjoy the last night fully. A 12:00 PM Check out time seems much more reasonable considering the price of the rental. Like I said a lot of prep work before the cleaners get there - they surely could get the place ready in 3 hours for next guests to check in at 4:00, unless perhaps it’s a one person cleaning crew and even then…

The house is located on a steep hill, but once you get up to the top it is well worth it. The cabin is well maintained and beautifully landscaped. We rode our bikes on the New River trail, which is very close to the house. I would recommend driving to the trail since the bike ride home up the mountain is difficult on a bike. It is a very peaceful and relaxing place to visit.

As we arrived at the property around 6 pm to begin our stay, the host notified us that there would be a “possible power outage”all day Saturday. In fact, power was out all day Saturday. He home is on a well, So no showers, no lights, no toilets, no cofee etc. I checked the power company website and it indicated that the power outage was a scheduled and definite occurrence. The owner had advanced notice of this but waited till I arrived before telling us. We were only staying for the weekend. There was no offer of a credit for the day. Only an offer to extend my stay for a day. Unhelpful as we needed to return to work the next business day. The owner repeatedly stated it was beyond her control and spoke very defensively. I have concluded that she was being disingenuous with us and made a decision to tell us about the outage after we arrived and were committed to staying there. She had advance notice from the power company. If she missed the notification, she could have made it right by offering us a credit. When she did notify us it was characterized only as a “possible outage”. This was very different from the description on the power company website. Disingenuous of the owner at best.

My young family (3 kids under 6) greatly enjoyed this beautiful cabin, amazing views from the deck, koi pond, fishing at the docks, and tons of wildlife. It was such a relaxing, secluded, and peaceful place!

Debbie's place is about as perfect as you can get if you're looking to get into some place in the country. Plenty of space in the house for a family to be comfortable, and lots of outdoor activities close by. And Debbie is an amazing host...very responsive, super accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the area!

We rented this cabin during a visit with our son who attends Virginia Tech. The cabin was perfect and we would certainly like to stay there again sometime. The view from the deck is just stunning; we wish we had better weather to say outside and soak it all in. We highly recommend this cabin.

This is our second time at Lost Horizon. We enjoyed it like last time in 2020 for my husband's birthday. This time we stayed for 4 nights for my daughter's 14th bday. She was thrilled because Debbie hung a banner for her. We did not spend a lot of time in the cabin this time because we explored the area. It's because her place even though hidden and nestled at the top, is close to a lot of stuff. We rented a boat for a day at Mountain 2 Island so the kids can tube. We also went to the Petting zoo/safari and had a lot of fun. We also fished at the dock (Flamingo Cantina) once a day. The first afternoon during our stay, we caught a decent size catfish again and a bunch of little fish. We know the kids will be bored when my husband and I are fishing, so they brought the dominos from the cabin and they also brought their own books to read. My son also enjoyed playing with a lizard again. We also caught a glimpse of two turkeys running as we are driving up one afternoon. As usual, the view at the Lost Horizon is so awesome and very relaxing. Just sitting by the deck while drinking coffee, watching fishing boats pass by, and staring at and listening to the beautiful sound and scenery, makes the 4-hour trip worthwhile. Thanks again for a great vacation at Lost Horizon.

Your adventure awaits!
If you're ready for a break from the crazy city life or just want to breathe some fresh country air and unwind, this cabin is for you! Upon arrival, we found the basic necessities needed for a comfortable week's stay - and the fresh mint along with a Mojito recipe was a nice touch. My family and I enjoyed many walks through the woods, fishing, picking fresh blackberries and raspberries, feeding the owners 58 finned children, rocking and reading on the front porch, and playing cards on the back deck while taking in the breathtaking scenery of the lake and mountains. After long days, taking a hot bath in the old fashioned bathtub or showering in the huge shower was the perfect way to prepare us for a long evening of card games, chit-chatting and shenanigans. Even my 15-year old son was content having the "bachelor pad" of a basement to himself for an entire week! Debbie was amazingly gracious, we could not have ask for a more considerate and responsive host. Thanks again for sharing your charming cabin with us!

Chestnut Springs
Our family had a great time at Chestnut Springs! The view from the house was amazing. The water access was very nice, we enjoyed the kayaks. The location is very close to the New River Trail, we biked each day and returned to the dock for a picnic lunch. I appreciate the owner sharing such a wonderful home for others to enjoy. Look forward to returning!

Relaxation done right
From start to finish our Lost Horizon stay was amazing! We booked hoping for relaxation, a beautiful location and easily accessible activities- we 100% found that and more. The house itself is something out of a magazine, the view and tranquility even more so! The ability to go down to the Flamingo Cantina to relax, canoe and fish was an extra bonus. Communication from the property owner was always exceptional and helpful. Daily, we found ourselves saying - “if only we could live here…”. We really hope to be back at this little slice of heaven in the near future.

Easter 2022
My wife and I rented Lost Horizon cabin for Easter weekend 2022. Our oldest daughter attends VT, so it was a nice way to have a closer spot of home for her over Easter. And our younger daughter is considering Radford another close university. We like to be active and the location provided access to New River trail for a scenic bike ride. We floated kayaks on the river, bushwacked some trails on the property, and relaxed completely on the deck and patio with amazing views.
I would highly recommend this house for a getaway. We loved it and can see ourselves coming back again.

A peaceful respite
This idyllic cabin and setting was more beautiful than the photos, which did nothing to convey the warmth and homey atmosphere found inside. We had everything we needed, cooking all our meals at the cabin, and the check in/check out processes could not have been easier. We did not have the time or enough fair weather to fully enjoy the dock and cantina, but look forward to coming back soon to rectify that. Among the highlights of our week- bird/bat watching, toadsong, and the AMAZING shower... Thank you, Debbie!

Ingles Cabin
The property was nice, but needs some TLC. Also, the property description leads you to believe you are on the lake. When the owner says "go down" to the lake, you are literally going down a mountain. The driveway is a challenge, even for a 4wd truck, so travelers should be aware of this before booking - not when they are receiving the check-in instructions. This driveway would be quite a challenge for a small car!!

Beautiful cabin with gorgeous views
We had a great time at this cabin. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the house has everything you need for a cozy family getaway. We enjoyed hiking through the woods behind the house and along the river, and because of the unusual warm weather, our girls even took the canoe out for a ride on the river. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us this winter. We would love to come back some day.

Perfect Getaway
Gorgeous cabin on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful New River. The hill to get to the cabin is mainly a stone road and very steep! It took us a few attempts to get to the top in our little Kia Soul, but we made it! Once you make it to the top, you won't want to leave.
We enjoyed taking in the views, hiking the area, exploring the property, and relaxing around the cabin. Three fireplaces, one outside (with a great view of the river) and two inside (wood and gas), which we loved! It really was such a cozy place to stay. We'd love to go back any time! We went in the late Autumn, but it would make a great place to stay in the Summer with the canoes, kayaks, dock, and Flamingo Cantina provided a short distance from cabin.

Owners keep the property in wonderful shape. Kitchen is well stocked and the shower is impressive with multiple shower heads and steam.

What a wonderful escape!
A gorgeous, house with a breathtaking view of the mountains and the lake. I loved sitting out on the deck each morning with my coffee, watching the sun rise, listening to the birds and just taking it all in. Sunsets are even more amazing. The house is large and comfortable, perfectly suited for our family vacation. The location was private and quiet. We enjoyed taking a hike across the bridge and would've loved to rent bikes to ride further along the trail but couldn't find a rental place that had bikes with a child seat. We did take the trek (about an hour drive) to Cascade Falls- a 4 mile hike. Not easy but so worth it! We really just enjoyed being on the lake- the canoes were perfect and sitting by the fire pit at night. Thanks for sharing this gem of a home!

Beautiful spot
The house was immaculately clean. Above and beyond my expectations. We had a wonderful time despite all of the rain. There was a power outage and the wifi went down for a few hours (separate issues), and the property owner was very courteous and promptly addressed the problems. I just wish that condiments and aluminum were provided. We were also only provided with a limited amount of paper towels, TP, and garbage bags which created inconveniences. Otherwise, the house and location were wonderful. Would highly recommend it!!!!

An amazing family getaway!!!
We had a very refreshing summer vacation with our 5 children, ranging in ages from 2-10. We loved the fish pond, feeding the fish, all the outdoor seating and views from the decks. The boating was such fun, and the kids enjoyed wading in the lake. It was a treat to be able to meet Debbie and thank her in person for being such a wonderful host! I highly recommend!

Great place for family retreat
Wonderful location on New River, great views, well equipped modern cottage that was perfect for two grandparents, two parents and one 7-year-old granddaughter to reunite after the pandemic. Comes with nearby dock on river/lake and the use of two canoes and kayaks. Has 4 flat-panel TVs that we did not use because we were escaping, but did rely on the good web connections. Good owner who made us feel quite welcome.

Incredible property, excellent hosts
The hosts were flexible responsive and not intrusive. The only critique would be the home and property being more impressive than advertised.
