We had a wonderful stay. The house is very nice. 4 bedrooms. Nice kitchen. Wonderful family setting. But the view is almost overwhelming!! We couldn't get enough. And the sunset from the deck - Oh my goodness! Gorgeous. Amazing time! Hope to stay here again.

This was our first attempt at a family vacation - three of us from GA and two of us from PA met for a Christmas get together. It was great. The property was even more beautiful in person. The house had everything we needed and was even decorated for Christmas, which we appreciated. There were lots of hiking trails nearby. And it did warm up enough by our last day for us to enjoy the huge deck. We are very grateful to the host for allowing our dogs to come - and providing crates in case we ever left them alone in the house - which we didn't, but it gave us peace of mind to have that option. The one and only downside was that the bathrooms were tiny. But that was not a big deal. We would love to come back again. I could never tire of the views. Would love to see it in the fall.

Our family enjoyed our weekend at Abigail's View. The views of the lake were tremendous and the decks were amazing. The house was clean except the air smelled musty and there was a plug-in air freshener in the garage that made out noses run. The bathroom attached to one of the bedrooms was very small and had a very loud fan that gave us a headache and cheap shower head that pointed right or left but not down on you so you had to hold the shower head in order to wash. If not for the smell and the bathroom issues, I would have rated this with five stars.

We stayed at this property during the few days leading up to dropping off our new Hokie Freshman for the start of Fall classes. It offered the perfect location to access Virginia Tech (less than 40min away) while giving us a recreational experience that was AWESOME! Wonderful views of the lake that were constantly changing from spectacular to amazing! The drive to the property is pretty quick from the interstate, but it does involve some narrow/winding roads, so take it slow if you're arriving after dark or in inclement weather. The property was as described. It has a very comfortable house with a great deck and very sturdy stairs leading down the hill to get to the lake front area with boat dock, picnic area, fire pit, etc. The combination of huge deck with the beautiful lake view, plus waterfront lake access with good facilities really make this house a great place to stay. We rented paddle boards and kayaks from Mountain 2 Island, who dropped them off at the property boat dock, so it was super simple and convenient. The house was located directly across the lake from the state park beach and marina, and we were able to easily paddle across and back. We cooked all of our meals at the house and they had everything we needed in terms of cookware, etc. The house and property has plenty of great space to gather with family and friends and spend time together, but note that there are only two bathrooms. This was not an issue for our family of four, but is something to plan for if you have more. The property is pet friendly and we brought our dog with us. It was very easy to walk out the front door with her to the lawn, but watch out because the deer like the lawn too! We saw 5 deer in the front at one point (which was fun). We will certainly consider staying here again and definitely recommend this property for anyone coming into the area who want to spend quality time at Claytor lake. If you have a student at VT or Radford, all the better!

Beautiful property - very clean with good amenities. Quiet and private. Amazing view of the lake and beautiful sunsets. Only one negative - the bedroom with king bed is in a converted garage and does not have its own bathroom. Felt like the pictures were a bit misleading on that. Otherwise absolutely no complaints and thank you for sharing your property with us.

Thanks for the great get away! The house was very clean, and the converted garage to the master bedroom and lounge area provided extra lounge space on rainy days. The deck was great, but quiet a few stairs to get to the road (for those in good shape - moderate to difficult and needed 4 whee or all whee drive to get up the road from the lake). The lake area was well equipped with cooler and picnic area and stairs to the water were nice, in addition to the later. If you’re cooking for full capacity (4 bedrooms), consider bringing a large cutting board and larger cooking pans, as they were fairly small. Better instructions for internet switch would help too (we kept turning it off by mistake). Overall great house!

My family and I had a wonderful stay here. It was so nice and had a wonderful view! It was also handicap accessible for my grandparents which was the cherry on top of our stay!

This property was perfect for our group. Fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, and plenty of room for all of us.

Fantastic view of mountains, water and sunset. Is very accessible to water . We swam , fished, kayaked. We rode on paddle boards and tubes. Water equipment was rented from Mountain 2 (they delivered and picked up.) Boats were also available to rent. We've vacationed in the north in the past . This was a 30-45" drive vs 11-12' drive. So relaxing. A perfect vacation.

Our family stay at the lake was very relaxing but the house was lacking in amenities that could be improved: beds were very uncomfortable, bedrooms and bathrooms were cramped, kitchen needed more supplies and an island or extra cupboard for food (we had to keep everything on the small counter or floor).

Clean, spacious house with views to die for on uncrowded, gorgeous lake. We took our own boat, raft and paddle boards and made memories. The walk from the lakefront dock and cabana to the house is a killer but worth it!

We thought the house was great, and was very child friendly! The house has an amazing deck and view! Loved watching the sun set each day! The cabana having its own fridge was awesome too! We had a wonderful time!

Property could use some sprucing up, area at lake needed a good cleaning for sure, refrigerator down there and shelter are filthy. Could use better beds and sheets in house

What a beautiful location, view, and home. We have not had a vacation for 2 years and our last one was stressful. The deck and views were amazing. The house was very clean, with fresh linens, comfortable beds, comfortable furniture, and nice outdoor deck furniture. The garage room was so comfortable!! The location was so private and peaceful. My only suggestion for future guests is to update the photo of the cabana and get rid of a few lawn chairs at the cabana. The photo of the cabana by the lake in the listing is an old photo showing a screened-in area. The cabana is more like a shelter and all the screen has been removed. We were looking forward to the screened-in area to help with keeping our grandbaby safe by the water, giving her a place to play, and avoiding mosquitoes. Unfortunately, there were no screens and some of the lawn furniture in this location was zip-tied together. My son-in-law discovered this when a chair tie broke while he was sitting on it. Overall we're incredibly pleased with our vacation. We were able to rent a pontoon boat and have it docked right at the house. We really appreciate the opportunity to rent such a beautiful paradise on Claytor Lake. Thank you very much.

We enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend here even though it was cold and rainy. I hope to come back sometime and enjoy the magnificent deck and views more. The pictures in the listing are accurate, the view really is that great! Only downside is that the bathrooms are very small.

This house was amazingly clean! Very comfortable beds and nice furnishings. The view is spectacular. Due to rain and foggy conditions the internet was not working. This was not a problem for us, our cell phones worked fine, but if you need to be online for work during your stay I would keep the remote location and weather conditions in mind. We hope to come back soon.

We rented this place at the last minute for an unexpected trip to the area, and I have to say this was a delightful and welcome surprise. Plenty of space, despite our 4 person family (2 adults, 2 young kids), room to spread out, and most importantly not filled chock full of knick-knacks and visual clutter like some properties unfortunately are. Just the beautiful open space buttressed by incredible views of the lake. First thought when entering the place--we need to extend this trip! Strong recommend!

Overall I have nothing negative to say about the property and overall experience. Our family enjoyed a great thanksgiving week. My only feedback was that upon finalizing my booking on VRBO and ensuring that the budget was in line with our family I received an email confirmation that was $600 higher with additional fees that were not outlined in the original confirmation received on the App. I reached out to property Mgmt company and fortunately the owner was willing to meet us half way however we still paid more than what was expected.

Fantastic views. The kitchen could have been better stocked with glassware and utensils but we made do. The bathroom sink in the bathroom off the bedroom was tiny. I didn’t notice this in the picture. Overall it is a great house.

Great weekend visiting our VaTech student. House was very clean and well equipped. Gorgeous views from the deck. Highly recommend!
