It was a wonderful experience, very rustic. Beautiful setting. Treacherous driveway. Bring what you need because there's no grocery store nearby. The marina is a 5 min drive.

Exactly what we were looking for. Peaceful, quiet, close to the lake. Property was clean and had everything we needed, including board games, puzzles, ladder golf, cornhole, bbq, gas fire pit. Will definitely stay here again in the future. Love it.

Spent a week here over the 4th of July. Great location and view of the lake, Garfield bay is a cool little area with awesome lake access. Was able to keep my boat docked at the store and he also had trailer parking so that was great because no chance of getting a trailer to the house. Driveway is steep and gravel but didn't give us any issues in a 4 runner and Chevy pickup. House isnt perfect but worked great for 2 adults, 2 kids, and a dog over the week. Would love to return next summer.

Loved the cabin! It had everything we needed for a long weekend away. We loved the view and it was just a short walk to the lake

Cozy cabin with lovely lake views. A nice getaway for two couples. All the previous reviews about the challenging driveway are true.

Did NOT want to leave! North Idaho is my home away from home and this place was perfect to reconnect! A few tips- Bring slippers! The floors are concrete and they want you to take your shoes off. Don't plan on sleeping in if you're affected by the sun and like it dark- there is no covering for the bedroom sliding glass door. A little note to also remember - there are more movies in the closet upstairs. Overall this place is really great! PS- the dresser drawers stick in the master bedroom 😊

Nice quiet cabin just perfect for some friends to relax after a day of fishing . Very cozy.

There was no dock or water for public use within walking distance as per pictures posted. Place was 15 mins out of Sagle. Needed 4x4 to get up steep hill. Also the showers had mold and the shower curtain had bacteria on it. Chair cushions had not been vaccumed for a long time and were pretty yucky. One stove burner kept shutting off in use. Also the floor is concrete and super hard on the back which was also missleading in pictures.
The wifi was great and the place was semi quiet. Clean bedsheets and towels.

Lovely little cabin in the woods! I enjoyed drinking my coffee every morning on the upstairs balcony looking out at the peaceful lake listening to the birds! Wonderful place to let the stress of everyday life melt away. Can’t wait to return.

Beautiful property and beautiful home. Clean, welcoming, accommodating, and exactly what we were looking for. AC kept the home cool and comfortable. Plenty of room for the 6 of us. Most importantly, the kitchen was very usable and the beds were comfortable. After reading the other reviews, it was apparent the owners listened and took care of issues to make the property even better. The driveway scare my wife…only issue. We will certainly look to vacation up in Sagle again! Thank you!

This cabin was cute, has a fully equipped kitchen, and you can truly fit a big family in it.
However, the driving instructions leave a whole lot to be desired. The signage doesn't state the number of the house at the bottom of the driveway as per the paperwork, it actually has the county address instead which is a different number.
The driveway is super challenging to maneuver even in an AWD vehicle due to heavy rock/dirt erosion.
Side note: You will be driving several minutes to get to the beach, don't let the dock photos in the listing fool you like they're apart of the property.

this house was in a great location- we could see the lake from our balcony/windows. Garfield Bay is very quiet and peaceful.

Very cozy and convenient location for boat launch access. Steep driveway so 4 wheel drive is a must but doable. We will return.

I was hoping for a comfortable cozy cabin. While the kitchen was well stocked, everything else was bare and of poor quality. Beds were uncomfortable and the living area lacked space. The second bedroom upstairs is more like a closet with a futon in it. The view of the lake is partially blocked by power lines. There also seemed to be an ant infestation in the upstairs. Not super impressed with the property and made for a disappointing birthday weekend.

We stayed here for two nights to mountain bike at the mountain. About 45-60 min drive to Schweitzer. Full kitchen, with a few spices. Has coffee pot and blender. Full size fridge. Concrete counters and floors down stairs, great for dogs. No real yard or grass. Lots of deer. Beds are comfy. Upstairs has great deck and view of lake when you wake up through the trees. Park nearby, has lake access, and food truck. Small store nearby is very small with not a lot of options, go into Sandpoint (25-30 min) for groceries. Quite a distance off main highway. Road is rough once you get to Garfield Bay. I have a all wheel drive car, and we bottomed out each time we came up drive way. Road is gravel and has pot holes. Very peaceful. Cleaning crew did not sweep upper deck, lots of mouse droppings, I notified Vacasa so they would clean this for future people. Wifi and Service were good. I had no issues connecting at all.

Right on the lake, surrounded by friendly people and natural splendor, lots of wild turkeys and deer all over, I loved it!

Useful as a base camp
My wife and I spent mornings and evenings here. We cooked meals at those times, but the kitchen was pretty small with little counter space for prepping food. I've slept in much worse beds and I've slept in much better beds too. The water has a little sulfur smell, but I drank it anyway and it didn't hurt the coffee any.
If you like to watch videos, read or play games they've got you covered!
We kept our dogs leashed because there's a very fast highway quite close, but traffic is not heavy and we didn't find it disturbing otherwise.

Our reserved weekend was very smoky due to fires. Thankfully the cabin has a mini-split, so we could get some respite from the smoke outside. There are a few things that could use improvement. The down stairs shower head needs a swivel and a water reducing valve. If you are short, it will be unusable for you. My short wife and two kids had to use the master shower. There were some dirty plates put away in drawers, not sure if that is a recurring issue. Like another reviewer, we had major problems with wasps. It appears there is nest in the wall on the main floor. We killed a number of them, but not before one stung me on my bare toe (owner says no shoes in the house). It has been a week and I am still in pain. We decided to give the cleaners a head start and washed the downstairs sheets while we were packing our last morning. The mattress has gross stains on it. I never understand why you wouldn't have mattress covers, especially in a rental.
Overall the cabin was nice, and it was remote, which is what we wanted. Outside of a restaurant/bar/grocery store close by, there is not much else. Plan on 25 minutes each way to drive to downtown Sandpoint.
The cleaners were also waiting in the drive while we were packing up. Not a big deal, but if checkout is 10, don't be sitting waiting for us at 9:30am. Kills the vibe a bit.
Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars. This would be good for two small families, but outside of the kitchen table, there is no living room/gathering area. For my family of four with two small kids, it was great.

Cute cabin, adequate for our needs, but maintenance needed
Beautiful location on Garfield Bay. No close neighbors, so nice and quiet. Air conditioning was much appreciated during the heat wave. Descriptions of the driveway are accurate. My Subaru Outback spun its wheels going around the steep, sharp turn, but once you figure out to swing wide, it's fine and most any car can get up there. Dealing with Vacasa of Idaho was not a positive experience, but the local manager, once he finally contacted me, was very helpful.
Repairs needed:
No house/location specific information on site
Can not see the numbers on the lock box after sunset
Downstairs shower can not be turned on without soaking the person and bathroom
Refrigerator is accumulating ice and water on the floor of the refrigerator portion of the unit
One burner on the stove will not light - cook was unsuccessful in using a match to light it
Sink spray hose leaks
Dishwasher left gritty residue on dishes, hand washed everything after first use
Would have been nice to have a screen door on the front door for better air circulation when air-conditioner was not on
Landline phone allowed members of our party to call to the cabin but not to call anyone outside of the cabin without a 208 area code. It's an easy and cheap upgrade to allow calls beyond the local area, which we strongly recommend.

The perfect disconnect!!
This cabin was my own private Idaho! Perfectly appointed with what I needed, from laundry, to the kitchen, to comfy beds, beautiful scenery, quiet, accessible... the list could go on. A quick to Sandpoint for small twin charm and activities galore! I will be back... I will be back....

Great location, needs a couple improvements
The location of this cabin was great but there were a couple of things that caused some issues during our stay. First, the main floor has a strong smell of mildew/mold even though there were air fresheners. Second, one reason we picked this rental was the fact that there was a crib upstairs since we have an infant. When we touched the mattress, it engulfed my hand. The mattress was way too soft for an infant per safe sleep guidelines in order to prevent suffocation. As a rental I was disappointed that this wasn’t previously addressed. It is a huge liability for Vacasa and the owner as well. Third, the AC didn’t work upstairs. Like other reviews, the cabin would benefit with better seating and pillows but they weren’t awful since we were expecting this. We enjoyed our stay but these couple improvements above could make the cabin safer and more comfortable.

Not suitable for 8 people. Kitchen cooking items lacking. NO seating for 8!
We were very disappointed with the pots and pans in the kitchen!! They were absolutely terrible!! Buy some new cookie sheets and pans plus better tops cooking pans too! We bought our own and took them with us. Yours were ridiculously old and not worthy of use. There is NO seating for 8 at the kitchen table. FIRST, the table is shakey! Not worthy of a rental at your price! It would easily break,. SECOND, there is no seating for 6 or 8 people in the "main room"! It might sleep eight but NOTHING ELSE. There is no "gathering room" and NO gathering space outside. NO sitting or eating area outside to make up for the lack of space inside. Why? The floor coverings were terrible dirty. Just awful. From the floors up looked fine but UNDER THE BEDS and other furniture was disgusting. Your floors are pitiful. Get NEW STUFF>..,,, I paid over a thousand dollars for the location and we would not dream of going barefoot in your location. The weather was fantastic so that was the best as we remained at the lake as much as possible which was a delight. Other than for that, you need to improve on the above items. Thank you, Barbara Graves Kempton

My husband and I picked this place to relax off grid. This is a really cool house but I hope the owners know the property management company is not doing a good job. The weeds were 20ft high in the yard and it looks like it had been neglected for a long time. The house was fine, and it was very nice having a kitchen with everything we needed to bbq. However, I put all the dishes away in the dishwasher and threw a stinky soaking load of wet towels into the dryer. The floor looks like it has not been cleaned in a year, the rugs are gross. The bbq cleaner was melted and broken and there was trash all around the yard. I reviewed another comment on here that the management company argued with a guest that there was wood when the arrived, there was no wood supplied for us as well. Obviously due to the high dry weeds in the yard we were not about the have a fire outside, but inside would be nice. Last but not least there was no laundry soap for us to start a towel load wash as requested on their flyers in the home, it also weirded me out if our sheets had been washed with soap from the previous renters if there was none on hand. :/The chair upstairs on the balcony was completely broken, and the house desperately needs a couch or some place to get comfortable. Overall, the house is super cool but the management company needs to step their game up on the maintance of the place. -Sam

Clean Quiet and Comfortable
Great. The only esthetic concern is lack of outside grounds maintenance, and oh yes, the driveway access needs improvement, steep driveway is ok but that sharp turn at the mid pint of the approach to the home is a killer.

Misrepresented and Way Too Expensive
The listing said that you needed a four wheel drive to get to the property. That was true but only for the rental driveway. A car would never make it up the driveway. There is no access to the lake. Other houses and a very steep bank prevent that. Open the door and we were met with a sink full of dirty dishes, an unflushed, used toilet and dirt all over the floors. There were no window coverings or screens so windows could not be opened. No air conditioning meant the cabin was hot. The BIG disappointment though was that the was no way to call out except for local calls: no cell service at all, no wifi. Had we needed to call because of an emergency other than 911, we would have had to drive about 10 miles towards the main road to get a cell signal before we could do so. This did NOT meet advertised expectations. The nightly cost was excessive but added fees raised the cost to an atrocious amount. Next time I will take a tent and be a lot more comfortable.

Garfield Bay is gorgeous, especially from the upstairs porch. Deer showed up and napped in the yard. The house has great bones, just needs some updates on furnishings to be perfect. Trails at Mineral Point were fantastic - saw a moose!

Nice, clean cabin near the lake. Definitely a steep driveway as listed. Close, tight quarters for a larger family, but works if you're okay with that.

Nice property but horribly managed.
Vacasa was a nightmare to deal with. They did not provide lock box codes until hours after checkin time which meant a wasted evening. I spent an hour on hold and never got through. The house had not been deep cleaned in a very long time. There were dirty pans in the cupboard. Old coffee grounds in the coffee maker. Junk cars and trucks in clear view of the balcony. Duct vents dirty and crusted. It was a really bad experience compared to the VRBO we stayed in the previous three days.
