The location of this home could not be better! We had everything we needed, the place is well stocked, and it was very comfortable. Would absolutely stay again!
5.0 / 5.0
The listing is as described. Everything was very clean. The kitchen is well equipped. The spiral staircase does take a bit of time to get used to using. We left our suitcases on the main floor, rather than struggling to get them up and down the tight staircase.
The location is prime, within minutes of many attractions. We took a liking to the Beacon Hill Hotel on Charles Street. Excellent food and a wonderful patio!
We only had one request of the hosts during our stay, and they responded promptly and efficiently.
All in all, highly recommend!
5.0 / 5.0
We stayed four nights and it was perfect for our needs. Lots of space for the teen children to spread out and can't imagine a more perfect location in the center of everything. Accurate description of property including that the stairs will not work for anyone that is older or has issues with tight spaces. Everything is dated but absolutely functional. Would absolutely return!
5.0 / 5.0
The spot came just as advertised. The entrance is located in an alleyway but we were able to drive right to the door to unload. I used Spot Hero and found a parking garage five minutes away. Those who have visited Boston before will know how walkable it is so we didn't need the car again until we left.
In terms of the accommodations, it was larger than we expected. Large living room upstairs and two large bedrooms below. The whole place was outfitted with everything that you would ever need. We didn't use the kitchen (other than the fridge) but we've not stayed in a VRBO before that was better equipped. As indicated in the description, the spiral staircase is tight so we just left our suitcases upstairs and took what we needed for the four days down to our bedroom.
The location is ideal. Five to ten minutes to the North end, Quincy Market, Downtown Crossing, Boston Commons, waterfront and pretty much any other places you'd want to visit.
I would highly recommend booking this spot and we will most definitely be back.
4.0 / 5.0
Tremendous location, with single metro ride from airport and walkable to the historic sites. This is a well converted ground level flat to add the two basement level bedrooms. Tight spiral stairway is not for the faint of heart but works here.
3.0 / 5.0
Location is top notch-walking distance to most areas and minutes from many shops, grocery store and restaurants. The host will send you an extremely detailed explanation of how to check in/out and how to navigate the area-which even as a former Boston resident I appreciated immensely. The amount of room you have is also very much appreciated for a family of four.I cannot however give this place ten stars. It needs a lot of updates to make it more “livable”.The downstairs where the bedrooms are have no AC, only fans (2 in each room), the upstairs/main floor where the living room and kitchen are there is an AC that works really well. The bedrooms got hot specially in the front room that has a very high window with some old blinds- they need a black out shade for the front room since it gets super light as soon as the sun comes out. The place itself is in dire need of a fresh coat of paint, fixing holes on the walls, broken flooring/tiles, broken baseboards, etc. Bathrooms definitely need to be updated, the shower handle kept falling as we turned it on. It also has a LOT of knick knacks/antiques and it made the place feel claustrophobic for us, not quirky and cute- but some people might not mind that. The spiral staircase is treacherous- imagine Ross from FRIENDS saying “pivot, pivot” but you have to do that with just your body. We left all our luggage upstairs. They need to invest back in the property if they are charging people to stay there

The location is perfect for seeing all the wonderful things Boston has to offer. But, be warned this unit is falling apart. There was an abundance of black mold in the AC unit, the oven didn’t work, tile in the bathroom is crumbling and the beds were so old and lumpy. Needs MAJOR TLC.

We had a wonderful stay! This apartment is in a great locacation in Beacon Hill and close to the North End. You can walk anywhere from this location. Old and full of character, this accomodation was both comfortable and interesting. The kitchen was well stocked, wifi worked well, and the proprieters where responsive. I would recommend this rental to anyone who does not have mobility issues and likes adventure!

Cozy apartment, clean and comfortable in a great and walkable location on Beacon Hill.
2.0 / 5.0
Our Uber driver dropped us off, and pointed to a hill and left us to walk down it with our luggage. Not easy to retrieve the keys, and negotiating the winding staircase with luggage, treacherous. The kitchen was okay and the living room, comfortable. Bedrooms good and beds very comfy. The bathroom was horrible. I cannot believe the lack of caring about the condition it is in and the owners not taking paying guests' needs into consideration. It totally turned us off, and we hated to even go into it. Unless they address the holes in the walls, the "tile" and lack of large, thick towels and other amenities, I doubt anyone would give this unit a positive review!

It’s not all bad. Nice kitchen. Interesting location. BUT Please take very seriously the mention of the noisy pipes at night. It’s beyond noisy, extremely loud and obnoxious and a bit like water torture. You will not get a good nights sleep. The property is down a very dark alley and the numbers are hard to read, making it hard to find at night. I’d recommend the owners let the beautiful brick wall shine and take down most of the cheap awful rummage sale art that obscures it. Nice restaurant recommendation.

Everything was just as described - great location, cozy, well furnished, lots of room for our party of 4. The knocking/tapping noise from the pipes was loud and kept us up at night, so we had to buy ear plugs - but other than that, we enjoyed our stay!

Upon arrival the property seemed great. Great location, clean, and well furnished. Problem 1: Bedrooms were at the bottom of a spiral staircase and taking suitcases up and down that staircase was difficult; beyond my wife's capabilities! Problem 2: The TV stations were very limited so on our first night we had to go to a pub to watch the ALCS baseball game. The host suggested going to a pub. Problem 3: On the second day we started having real problems. We were in and out of the property multiple times and we realized on one return the lights in the entry foyer weren't working; we had to use our phone flashlights to be able to see to put the key in the lock. And the overhead light in the room at the bottom of the spiral staircase had quit working. We brushed off these lighting issues until later when serious problems started. Problem 4: At 11:30pm we went to take showers, NO HOT WATER and NO HEAT!! Host was unavailable that late so we went to bed. In the morning of day 3 there was still no hot water and no heat. I set the thermostat at 73° F but the temp. was down to 68°F and the baseboard heaters were cold. Host got back to us and said she had contacted building management. At @ 9am the host contacted me and asked me to open the door for the electric guys who were out front. At 3:30pm there was still no heat nor hot water so we made plans to vacate the property after returning from a scheduled dinner. Host is refusing to compensate us for the lack of these essential amenities

Cute historic property in Beacon Hill. Finding the entrance was a little tricky. It looks like an alley but it’s a street. It’s conveniently located near good, stores and activities and the owners were very attentive to questions. It was a great little get away.

This VRBO truly is in the best location. Walkability is 100. Right by the Bowdoin blue line metro which gives you access to everywhere, but we mainly walked around Beacon Hill, Downtown, and the North End! There is also a Bounce luggage hold area just half a block away if you get in before check-in time, which is so convenient. Would totally stay again!

We had the best 3 night stay here. The property manager was prompt and very helpful. This listing is literally smack dab in the middle of everything. We walked the whole trip, not ever needing an Uber or taxi. I highly recommend!

Loved the historic feel. Quaint neighborhood and close to everything! Comfy beds and very comfortable atmosphere! Loved it!

Love the character of the property and the location cannot be beat. The kitchen had everything we needed for a convenient stay in the city. There are plenty of bars and restaurants surrounding this place. There were 4 of us traveling to Boston for the first time and I don't think we could have picked a better property to book.

Very nice and unique place. Close to the Tip Tap Room for a quick night cap or dinner. Great eateries EVERYWHERE!!!! This was my first Vrbo experience, and my friends joining me were quite satified. Since there is a necessity for organic flushing only, a sitsbath attachment on the toilets would be nice.

It felt like we were staying with friends. The location was perfect and everything was just as described. If you want cozy, comfortable and convenient this is the place. We will rent here again. Lucy was lovely to work with.
5.0 / 5.0
Nice layout inside the house. Spiral staircase is tight but adds a bit of quirky fun to the stay. House is very centrally located and worked great for us to go to the aquarium, Fenway, Ferry rides, Quincy market and was easy for us to get to north station so that we could spend time in Salem and Gloucester. As other reviews mentioned the full bath is in desperate need for updates but that alone wouldn't let me leave anything less than 5 stars.
5.0 / 5.0
The place has everything you would ever need and then some. Great location, walkable to many things. The only complaint is that the place is very dark. Hardly any natural light, but if you aren’t planning to spend a lot of time indoors, it’s not an issue
5.0 / 5.0
Stayed here for several days with two kids (11, 14) and two adults. Plenty of space and of course an amazing location. Walking distance to our freedom trail tour, historic sites and conveniences like Whole Foods and the train stations. (Adults shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the Tip Tap room - great selection of beer and gourmet menu!)
The spiral stairs leading down to the bedrooms are a bit tricky and might be hard to manage depending on your age and condition.
You can not flush toilet paper, so that is something to be aware of.
Would stay here again.
3.0 / 5.0
Great difficulty accessing unit as entry is located on alleyway that was being repaved. Loud construction vehicles early in the morning as well as bright front bedroom will wake you up around 5am, bedroom can benefit from room darkening shades. If going in summer, AC is weak and bedrooms on lower level are quite warm. I'm so glad I brought a small fan, but still uncomfortable at night. Windows are filthy and need to be washed. Fans in unit are too loud to run. Building is old, I get it, but unit is in need of much repairs. Could not get oven to work. Need to turn AC unit on manually, as remote affixed to wall did not work. Upon check-in and first entry into unit it was HOT!! FYI if going in summer. Unit needs new housecleaning service, bring slippers, my feet were black.

Enjoyed our stay. Easy to get to from airport. Easy to get around. Quiet safe

The location of this property is excellent. You don’t need a car and you can walk anywhere. We were able to add another night a month out and host was responsive to our messages. The stairs are narrow so you should plan on smaller bags. We loved our visit to Boston.
3.0 / 5.0
The setup was perfect for my goals. Downstairs bathroom needs to be demolished. Needs more sanitary disposal for toilet paper. Coffee pot hadn't been cleaned in forever.
4.0 / 5.0
loved the location and apartment. Would like to have direct number to host just in case there were concerns.
4.0 / 5.0
The place was good for staying, though few things need to improve:
1) The fan in the rest room (upper stair, 1st floor) made too much noise. We can't stay in the rest room more than 10 sec.
2) The A/C remote-controller didn't work, so we die power on/off by manually.
Thanks,

Everything was just as described. Amazing location. Close to all the great sites. Enjoyed it and would definitely book again next time we are in Boston.

Location couldn't be better. Pipe noises were bad at night from 3 to 8 at times. No plumbing issues.
5.0 / 5.0
Great location, clean, and had everything we needed! Check in/out process was super easy. Would stay again! That being said, pipes in the back bedroom were very loud. I’m a heavy sleeper so it was fine but my sister ended up sleeping upstairs on the couch one night. My parents slept in the front bedroom and slept fine, not as noisy in that room.
4.0 / 5.0
The location and amount of space for the price can’t be beat, especially on marathon weekend. Check in and out was very easy and when we needed to communicate with host that was also easy. One of us slept on the couch upstairs and the host provided nice blankets and pillows. Beds are very comfortable and kitchen has everything you need. As stated in other reviews, the temperatures in bedrooms was a bit challenging, After talking to the host we were able to adjust the thermostat and it was much better. We had no plumbing issues with common sense use of toilet paper but it was a little concerning all the signs about not flushing anything. Pipes in night seemed to be less of an issue once we adjusted the temperature so the hot bedroom wasn’t so hot. Overall the stay was good and if I needed a place with 2 rooms again, I’d try to book this place.
5.0 / 5.0
It's an aged apartment that was way more roomy than we imagined. I had previously read the reviews about trouble getting luggage down the spiral staircase so we just left our luggage upstairs. Plenty of space, large kitchen, and well equipped. Regardless of any drawbacks in regard to the age of the building (i love it's historic charm), the location of this place is unbeatable. We walked everywhere and took the subway (2 blocks away) to anything not reachable by foot. What a bargain with the location of this place!!
5.0 / 5.0
Location, location, location - this place has that hands down going for it. North End, Commons/Botanical Garden, Newberry Street, all a short stroll away. All the positives of this place are clearly stated in the description, the beds are really comfy as well, however be aware this is an "older unit" with little updates to the plumbing and heating. The front bedroom was chilly and the back room broiling. The pipes in the walls make noise constantly, and there are warning signs regarding what you flush down the toilets can cause issues (we had no plumbing issues). check in check out was a breeze. I would foresee us staying here in the future as the location is the biggest thing for us when we travel to Boston.
3.0 / 5.0
I so appreciated the location. Disposal didn’t work. Couldn’t do dishes. No paper down toilets which made going to the bathroom really uncomfortable.I was so happy to have normal toilets when we left. Left a sweater behind and owner never responded. Overall a 5 out of 10. Surprised owner didn’t respond.

We loved staying at this well appointed Beacon Hill condo. The beds are super comfortable, we had everything we needed and the place has charm and character. The location can’t be beat, close to transit and walking distance to tons of fun places to visit.
