Everything was good. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The place was clean and easy to access. It was a bit confusing as it was called The Old Police Station.
Breakfast was average. It was continental but there wasn't much hot food and no fresh croissants or pastries.
3.9
Was a continental breakfast, with all you could need and want.
Better if the restautant had been open in the evening.

Friends staff lovely hotel , they let us use the staff car parking
Nothing was as expected

Location to the center of town

Very good location and beautiful room with a large bed and nice a view.
Would prefer a cooked breakfast and a shame the bar closed at 9pm on a Saturday night!
3.9
Good location. Friendly reception.
Very small room. Should have upgraded. Kettle kept turning off. Wi-Fi kept kicking me off. Exit was not clearly marked to leave.

Breakfast wasn’t great
3.9
Location, comfy bed, good bathroom
Didn’t see a staff member as I checked in after 8pm, room was freezing took a while to heat up, needs refreshing as far as decor, curtains either faded bad or needed cleaning. Wasn’t informed no restaurant/food available prior to booking.

Excellent location
WiFi was not working
3.9
When arrived early evening, bar closed and no food available.
It didn’t look like the pictures, it was noisy as next to a busy pub and the breakfast was a bit naff. Packeted pastries, unhealthy cereal (rice crispies and coco pops) , unhealthy yoghurts and all self service, only fresh fruit was bananas.
3.9
Breakfast good choice and good time. Staff very friendly and attentive and happy to take time to chat and explain things.
Not the hotels fault, but car parking can be awkward (beware the permit areas and car park times and fees!).
Shame the bar shut at 8:30 and would really have liked to have had dinner there

Location was excellent with 2 min walk into the market and to an excellent restaurant in the market square called Rhondo the lounge which does amazing food and caters exceptionally well for gluten free and those with allergies. The Kings Park was pleasant with a lovely man on reception who helped with my luggage. The room was clean and adequate for the price paid. There was no maid service during the stay which was fine and just had to ask if you needed anything. Overall cleaning of the room was fine but would suggest attention to lampshades as that’s what you see lying in bed ( an easy to fix small detail) Breakfast was continental and adequate.
Just attention to the dusty lampshades cobwebs on the ceiling , but a small point as the room was clean and tidy as was the bathroom.
Breakfast was continental and adequate but nothing special. I’d recommend the Lounge at Rhondo on the market square for an excellent cooked breakfast instead.
The pillows were uncomfortable , flat and hard but that might just have been a one off. I would go back and stay again these are just points that maybe could be improved upon.

Great location, fantastic park close by. Comfortable bed, clean room.
Breakfast very satisfactory
The stairs very narrow and difficult to carry luggage

Ive stayed numerous times in the past.It used to have a vibrant bar and there was always a full English breakfast in the morning, which is why I booked my stay. Unfortunately looks to have changed hands ...no one in the bar and advised there would be no hot food available despite it being included with my stay
There was no cooked food no body in the bar area the tap was loose generally disapointing

Location and room
Closed restaurant and poor breakfast

Location.
Over priced for what it is. Very basic hotel. Room was not clean. Not enough towels. Toilet seat was broken. Breakfast was bought from a supermarket. Very very over-advertised.

The reception was unmanned until the manager appeared - there was a major THREAT TO LIFE FLOOD WARNING and the manager didn’t have any strategy to handle this therefore I did not stay at the property as he was giving me a ground floor room. As you can see from the photos the flood water reached the building. The manager was in no way helpful or pleasant when I expressed my dissatisfaction and when I said I could already see the park across the road was flooding, he dismissed this saying it was from 2 weeks previously. This was incorrect and you can see that the street was severely flooded and properties on the street were evacuated during the night as evidenced by the BBC news and other media platforms.

Quirky old police station.

The general standard of decor, and the quality of the fixtures and fittings were very good - as is to be expected at a Boutique hotel.
This particular hotel is clearly being neglected by the Boutique management team! I suspect that - as is becoming all too common nowadays - that they are focussing on “the business”, and their “fat cat” profits and bonuses, as opposed to the delivering of a quality product and good customer service.
Specifically:-
1) No access to the building (to leave my luggage) and unable to contact anyone, until mid afternoon. I was “greeted” by a locked door - access being via a digital code, obtained by calling a mobile number displayed on a makeshift paper notice stuck to the door. Initially, there was no answer when I called the number!
2) No heating ANYWHERE IN THE BUILDING - it was bitterly cold! The lady on duty was also uncomfortably cold, so it’s clear that “frontline” staff are treated with the same level of contempt as are the customers!
3) I was unable to have a shower as the temperature control valve was partially seized. As a result, the water was scalding hot!
4) Despite advertisements to the contrary, the breakfast was limited to a Continental one, with a meagre choice of cereals and no hot food whatsoever.
In summary, very disappointing and appalling value for money! When I pay over £100 in Retford, I expect something special!

Arrived at around 9pm. No one at reception. No milk and some of the coffee sachets were open and used. No soap in the shower - only hand soap on the basin.
Some milk would have been nice and soap in the shower .
3.9
Rooms were very nice and beautiful bathrooms
Breakfast was displayed on photos as full English breakfast however there was no cooked breakfast. Terribly poor choice of ‘continental’ - just cereal, yoghurt and toast. Considering we booked B&B we were disappointed.
3.9
Great location - good size bed with a lovely view of the park
The closed restaurant, one of the taps was broken on the sink and the front door knob was broken
3.9
Central location, comfortable bed, decent size room, nice staff
No parking, toilet seat broken, poor TV connection kept loosing signal,, stairs to room spiral which was tricky to come down. The bar had been closed a month which wasn't mentioned when I booked, we were a bit disappointed
3.9
The hotel has always been really nice, homely and have stayed a few times, its very cool keeping the Police theme. This stay, "under new management" the breakfast is poor, used to be EXCELLENT, the bedding had small stains on and the bar has closed completely! Just poor from what it was.
Poor breakfast, slightly stained bedding and no bar!
3.9
Very nice rooms all you needed in them
Only part continental breakfast which wasn’t stated when booking the person at breakfast said a lot of people complained about it but it’s either a cooked breakfast or full continental. Only two hangers in room not enough if staying more than one night. Would have been nice to be able to use outside area even though bar and restaurant were closed
3.9
The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were exceptional. The area is very quiet, so we struggled to get a taxi back to where we were staying for the rest of our trip, but the staff really went above and beyond to make sure we got back safely.
As a coeliac, I could literally only eat one thing at breakfast, and the coffee was too dark-roast for our tastes.
3.9
The staff had checked out of this hotel on this visit. On booking in the afternoon, I was called soon afterward to ask for my arrival time. After arrival at 1900 the staff left and the hotel was empty. The kitchen and bar were closed. At breakfast the following morning there were no staff on hand to help. I had to go into the kitchen to find someone to give me a spoon.
In the bedroom, only 1 set of towels was provided despite booking for two people.
I won’t be staying here again or recommending to others.

Very clean & staff helpful & friendly when they were about
It was a Saturday night & they were not serving food at all. Then the bar shut early. This meant I had to walk around to find somewhere I could sit in & eat - most are takeaways. And I was on my own, so am a bit nervous about being in pubs on my own on a Saturday night. Not that I could find any! Found a nice small restaurant eventually !
There may have been a good reason why the kitchen was closed but it was advertised as being open. If I had known I could have prepared.

The young lad who checked us in and served teas and coffees in the bar was very polite and couldn’t do enough for you
The rooms need a good clean, we had no tea/coffee/milk in our room, the other rooms were sparse of this too and one of the rooms still had a towel from previous staying hanging behind the door so all in all poor. We also tried to get a drink at the bar when we came home on the Saturday evening and was told because there was a function on in the room behind the hotel we had to take it to our rooms even though we were staying there. There was obviously a person smoking something unslightly in one of the rooms as the corridor stunk. There was only a continental breakfast on offer but we found a great welcoming pub to feed us. One of our party booked late and paid double the rest of us so definitely not value for money where they were concerned. Some of our party has previously stayed there so they were very disappointed and embarrassed as they had recommended it to the rest of us.
