Maine Ocean Front - Near Camden - Family Friendly

My family had so much fun in Maine. The house is in a great location. Walking distance to Lincolnville beach, great coffee shop next door, great market next door, close to Camden hills, we hiked Mount Megunticook, shopped in Camden, took the Ferry to Isleboro and spent the day. So much to do in the area.
Vivienne was very responsive, friendly and easy to deal with.

Beautiful spot and convenient location for seeing Midcoast Maine!

This house is in the perfect location- easy access to water/ hiking / midcoast towns next door to a delish maine market and coffee roaster… the house itself is a charming old farm house that has all the basic stuff. If you are looking for high end - this isn’t your place. For us, we loved the comfy, lived in beach house vibe. My kids (8 and 5 ) loved all the games provided. The property has a rambling lawn down to the sea. The beach is rocky but you can walk along it- or drive - to a nice swim spot. The only con is we couldn’t stay longer. Plan to return!!!

Beautiful property with rolling field down to the waterfront. Charming old Maine farmhouse was warm and comfortable, provided everything we needed for a wonderful family gathering. Outside space for eating, star gazing and fire ring was perfect. A great location to explore Camden, Belfast and all the surrounding areas. It was a perfect place for us!

Understand what you’re renting if you stay here: this is a farmhouse built in 1860. It’s been maintained, but if you’re looking for fancy, luxurious lodging, look elsewhere. If however, you want a clean, spacious house that can comfortably accommodate 7-8 people of varying ages, with a well-stocked kitchen, and ocean beach access, this is a great place to stay. Yes, you’ll probably encounter a few bugs and the shower/washer are a little temperamental, and there’s no AC, but our family (grandparents, brother and his girlfriend, and our young kids) all had a really nice stay. The one major issue that we encountered was the battery on the code-lock died and we were locked out, but we managed to put my 7 year old through a window and get in. Other than that, everything was as expected and we felt like this was a good value.

Lincolnville Stay
This home has all the charm of a older farm house. We spent most of our time at the waterfront in the backyard. If you are looking for luxury this is not your place. It’s minimally furnished and but does have a comfortable bed. Having the coffee
shop and Dots next door made our trip even better!

Great location but house was dirty and uncomfortable.
Great location, easy to get to all local activities. LOVED Dots and Green Tree Coffee right next store. The walk to the ocean on the property is lovely. However, the house itself was a mess and we didn't stay our entire week because we were so uncomfortable. We walked in the door to a house FULL of black flies. The surfaces were dirty and dusty. There was only one roll of toilet paper. After our 8 hour drive we turned right around to go the store to buy cleaning supplies, a fly swatter, and paper products. Unhappy about paying a cleaning fee when we did all the cleaning. Towels and bedding were stained. We all chose to wear our flip flops when showering because the bathrooms felt so grimy. Terrible water pressure, couldn't rinse the shampoo out of my hair. There's only one couch in the house which means no comfortable seating if there's more than 2 people. Bare bones and old farmhouse charm are fine. Dirty and uncomfortable for this price is not fine.

Beautiful property and location; house needs work
We loved the location and long meadow to beautiful rocky beach. The grounds and landscaping are lovely. The picture window in the kitchen and architecture and charming and fully of character. We expected and enjoy an old house but found its overall condition (windows, water, appliances, beds) and the furnishings worse than expected and felt the description was a bit misleading compared to reality. It’s also quite close to Rte 1 and therefore loud.

Our stay at “Fox Trot”
The house is somewhat run down, though also old and charming. It seems like the owners have taken a minimal approach to repairing and repainting. I was disappointed in the lack of comfortable seating and the broken furniture. Also, the water pressure in the house is not adequate. There were stains on some of the bed linens. I would describe the house as adequate, but certainly not luxurious. More could be done to add to the experience of staying there. It is in a great location and has a beautiful property associated with it.

Located within walking distance to two beaches
We enjoyed the location and the land surrounding the property, with immediate access to a rocky beach, and a short 3-5 min walk to the sandy Lincolnville Beach. Coffee is just across the street at Green Tree and groceries are next door at Dot's. The house itself is best for families who enjoy a more rustic stay.

Wonderful stay!
We had a wonderful time, lovely and quaint setting in super convenient mid-coast location. Property owner was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing vacation.

We loved the layout of the house, it had more space than what the pictures show. The kitchen had most things you would need to cook with. The daily walks to the ocean were great, my husband saw sunrise 4 out of the 7 mornings. Nice backyard for the young children to play in and close to several restaurants. It had a very homey feel to it. There were a few times which the water pressure was low, but usually recover quickly. This never causes a problem. My three year old grandson loved the house and wants us to return.

Perfect location
A great family get away! The old farm house helped us remember the simpler times. Plenty of space, great location, ocean views, conveniently located across the street from Green Tree Coffee and two doors down from Dots - a wonderful gourmet food store. We sailed, hiked Acadia, shopped in Camden, hiked Mt Battie, and ate amazing food at Natalies and Franny’s! All in all an amazing week for all. Including our dog!

Small town Maine.
House is 170 years old. It did not have good air circulation to get cool. We knew it did not have AC. It served its purpose for this trip. We got what we expected.

Great stay and great host!
I loved this property. The house was basic but comfortable and very conveniently located near the best coffee shop ever (Green Tree) and the best sandwich shop (Dot's) and Lincolnville Beach (all three walkable). The kitchen is well-stocked. But the real pleasure is waking up in the morning and sipping your coffee in the window seat and taking in the start of the day. We enjoyed a morning walk with out pup down to the ocean on the very "front forty" and some meditative time by the sea. No swimming there, but definitely time to enjoy the view.
Thank you, Vivienne, for the lovely stay and the great open communication.

Rustic house, nice location
This is a large old farmhouse in a very cute beach town. The house is very rustic-- all of the window screens are old and torn, allowing for a lot of bugs inside the house. The bathroom plumbing is problematic: the toilet struggles to flush and you can't use the sink upstairs if the washing machine or dishwasher is running. Although there is a downstairs bedroom, I would not recommend this house for older people with mobility issues, as the downstairs bathroom is small and hard to maneuver. There is a lovely meadow walk down to a rock beach area, and you are within walking distance to the town of Lincolnville and its beach.

Charming home in Maine
Charming house and property! We loved everything about it. We saw a fox, chipmunks and deer in the field. We walked down to the water everyday and the kids loved playing on the rocks. The location is great, not far from Camden and other great spots but far enough away to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of this property.

Ocean is lovely house is underwhelming
Walk to the ocean is greater than 1000 steps (according to my fit bit). The kids loved looking for tiny crabs and finding shells. Recommendations that homeowner left for local stores and restaurants were spot on. I had to wash 50% of the dishes that we used during the stay because they were visibly soiled. The house states that it sleeps 8 which it could, however traveling as a family of 7 it is hard to manage showers in this home. One can not run the shower and well, quite frankly anything else in the house at the same time. As my husband put it, flush the toilet and the shower slows to drops. Homeowner acknowledge the "whole house filter" slows water in the binder on the counter of the home but not in the posting. The bottom line the home is old and charming in many ways. The plethora of books, board games and ocean view, however we chose to leave a day early to get to a hotel with a good shower.

Maine at its best
Take six adults , five of them males, three of them attorneys throw in a 1860’s farmhouse within a short , albeit rocky walk to the bay, add a skydiving adventure, a trip to Arcadia, great lobster dinners with Maine based family members and a great time was inevitable. Good spot for all !

A great vacation, and an excellent house
We had a wonderful time in this house and on this property. The house is an ~1850 house, with all the feel of old Maine. Located just south of Lincolnville Beach, we were able to access all that Lincolnville Beach and Camden have to offer, including excellent access to Camden Hills State Park. The property has a cleared walk to a private area on the beach. We packed up dinner a few nights and took it to the firepit and enjoyed the evenings by the beach with smores. As for the house, it's quite close to Hwy 1, as are all the old houses, which is a very busy and noisy road. The house has a queen bed and bath on the first floor. Second floor has a queen in one bedroom and two twins in another, and another bath. We enjoyed all this house had to offer, especially the great outdoor space. We visited here with our two young children and a parent, and it was perfect, and offered all the privacy and space that everyone desired. The finishes are a bit primitive, but it's a very tidy house and has all that you'll need to enjoy a great week in Maine. We would definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful Property in Charming, Low-Key Area
We had a wonderful time in Lincolnville. It's a small and low-key town next to Camden with a few great restaurants and a nice sandy beach that is perfect for young kids. At low tide, my kids loved running around in the little "splashing pools" and playing with tiny crabs.
The property is huge and comes complete with a picnic table, rope swing, endless wildflowers, Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit overlooking the bay and our own private rock beach. The house is rustic, with old world charm. It isn't newly renovated but it's kept clean. The art barn is a nice bonus space but would be more usable if it were set up for guests. The house is conveniently located right on route 1. Green Tree Coffee roasters is literally across the street (we were there every day), and Dot's, an awesome breakfast/lunch spot, is next door. The only downside to the location is that you can hear some noise from cars and trucks at night.
Vivienne was an exceptional host. She made us feel right at home, and she went above and beyond to answer our questions.
I would recommend the boat tours in Camden and a day trip to Belfast or Acadia. There is so much to do in the area! We would love to return one day!

This property needs the following:
new sheets and bedding
more furniture and chairs
better outside furniture
they need to remove "Art Studio" from the listing as there is only a dusty old barn room with no windows or doors that open and no tables or anything that resembles an art studio.
more windows and doors that open (most do not)
Other than that it is fine if you want a rustic experience.
the location is good and quiet.
it is private and spacious and good parking

Fantastic Vacation in Maine
We had a wonderful time in Lincolnville...and staying at this house was one of the highlights. The house is rustic and comfortable....easily swept clean and large enough for a crowd. It is extremely well equipped with a washer/dryer, dishwasher and everything from flashlights to vacuums. There is no TV service, but there is a screen and DVD set up for watching movies and the WiFi coverage is good. Cell phone coverage is spotty.....but I think that is a plus on vacation. The house is located next door to Dot's, a bakery and lunch spot (ham and cheese croissants were a favorite)....across the street from Green Mountain Coffee roasters (John the owner is very nice) and a short walk from the Lincolnville Beach port where you can catch the Ferry to Isleboro, enjoy lobster and other seafood at several restaurants or just take in the wonderful view. Duck and scallops were wonderful at Chez Michel and the lobsters at McLaughlin's are a true Maine experience.
The water's edge is a brief walk through a beautiful meadow in front of the house. The owners have set up a fire pit right by the water and we used it often. Bring guitars and marshmallows! One of my kid's friends even brought his playing saw.
There is lots to do in the area. Camden is a 10 minute drive with lots of shopping and dining options. We had great meals at Fresh, Seadog's, Waterfront and Peter Otts. My kids loved the hot dogs at Harbor Dogs and I had my favorite lobster roll at Seadog's. For my birthday dinner we splurged at the Pig & Poet (fantastic! Have fried chicken and a Mai Tai). We took the sunset schooner rise on Appledoor, had a wonderful time and took some beautiful pictures.
A hike in Camden Hills Park is a must. We took the 2 mile trail to the top of Mt. Battie. Also plan for a day on Megunticook Lake. We rented kayaks from Ducktrap and spent the day exploring one of the prettiest lakes I have ever seen.
The house has a good sized kitchen and we cooked many family dinners. In between all of this you can spend hours lazing away in the adirondaks in the front yard watching beautiful sunsets and sunrises or stargazing. Finally, the light and sites are great for painting! I'm carting home three finished oils.

Oceanfront Paradise
My family and I rented this property for a week and we could not have asked for a better place or better experience. The house is welcoming and very comfortable, the kitchen has a perfect window seat to enjoy your morning coffee and feel the cool ocean air. There is ample room both inside and out to relax and the house is fully equipped to accommodate your needs. We spent hours walking along the shore and collecting shells and other findings. It was a great way to keep the little kids entertained. And to top all that off Vivienne was amazing. She was attentive and accommodating and genuinely cared about our experience!! It was without a doubt our best rental experience. We will definitely be staying here again (actually we've already made a reservation for next year)!!
