Beautiful vacation home. Had an extremely well stocked kitchen and lovely outdoor deck. The bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable. We all enjoyed our stay.

This was a magnificent VRBO. My kids remarked when we finished out trip that, "I think this was the nicest VRBO we've ever stayed in!" It was the perfect size for our family of 4 + in-laws. The kitchen was well-equipped and had all the basic staples we needed for our week. The beds were comfy and the rooms were large. We especially enjoyed the patio and secluded setting to relax after our days hiking in Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor is also close. Make sure you stop by the Travelin' Lobster for lunch if you are at the cabin during the day! It's very close, very delicious, economically priced, and very popular.

We had a wonderful stay at Moss Mountain Cottage. The property was clean and exactly as described. The beds were comfortable, the cottage was spacious, and it had air conditioning!
We appreciated that it was quiet and secluded off the road in a beautiful wooded area. The location was great for exploring the island - easy to get to Bar Harbor, to hiking in Acadia and to the "quiet side" of the island. A bonus is that it is minutes away from our favorite lobster pound, The Travelin Lobster.

Everything you need
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we booked this property last minute without too much research, but it was perfect for what we needed. We traveled with a 1 year old, a 3 year old and 3 adults. There is a bedroom with two beds and a pack and play which was perfect for the kids. It was easy to get to and check in, and there was everything there you might need to cooking, clean-up, and they even left us some toys to play with for the kids. They also left us some cute gifts and a note which was appreciated, and plenty of information.

Wonderful cottage
Moss Cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. It was clean, well-appointed, organized and very private. The outside deck and garden/patio were lovely and we enjoyed watching the local wildlife - like the snowshoe rabbit munching on Jean's garden. The location was very convenient and encouraged us to explore the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island. Jean was a great host and made us feel so welcome! I would encourage anyone to stay at Moss Cottage.

Moss Mountain Cottage Gem
We were so lucky to have chosen this cottage for our week long stay in Maine. It's very clean, quiet and we felt very safe staying here during times of COVID. The owners were very thoughtful to provide such a well stocked home for their guests. The king bed was very comfortable and there were nice towels for the bath. Jean provided great communication during our stay. We highly recommend Moss Mountain Cottage for your Maine vacation.

Comfort like home in private setting.
The beds are comfortable and kitchen is well stocked with cookware and pantry items which makes it easy to cook and eat meals at home, which was our preference during Covid. Backyard is quiet with we enjoyed making a fire and watching the stars. It seems like everything on MDI is an easy drive from Moss Mountain Cottage! We explored hiking trails and beaches during the day.

Family Getaway
Moss Mountain Cottage was the perfect place to stay for our baby daughter’s first trip to Maine with the family. Jean contacted us a week before the trip to make sure we had what we needed to check in smoothly. The cottage was clean with plenty of room for our party (she even had a pack’n play set up for our daughter when we got there). We had breakfast on the deck, and we had a nice fire in the evening. It was nice to be close enough to the trails and some local restaurants, but far away enough from the traffic and business of downtown. There was everything we needed at the house. Jean was very easy to contact and prompt in responding. My husband and I have been to Bar Harbor previously and have stayed at other homes, but this is one of our favorites and we would gladly stay there again.

Picture perfect cottage
Moss Mountain Cottage was the perfect vacation rental for our family. It’s location, Town Hill, was only a short drive to all of our favorite places on the island. The cottage was impeccably clean and well equipped. The addition of a fire pit in a beautifully landscaped garden was enjoyed by all. THE best rental yet!
The entire experience with our stay was excellent! Jean was the most communicative and responsive host we have encountered. She went out of her way to make sure we were prepared for our trip and helped us find kayak rentals before we arrived, gave us great suggestions for eating and activities, and even made sure we knew how to work the A/C before the hot weather arrived. The cottage was spotless and had everything we could have possibly needed for our stay. We appreciated being away from the crowds, but only a short drive to Bar Harbor or Southwest Harbor. Even with some challenging weather, it made for a very comfortable week and we would eagerly return or recommend to friends and family. Thank you, Jean and Bill - we hope to see you again!

Jean- thank you for renting us your cottage. It was so beautiful! The beds were comfortable and the cottage was so relaxing to stay. You were extremely attentive to all of my questions about the area and with giving me recommendations on where to go. The welcome basket was beautiful and the homemade jam is so tasty! Moss Mountain Cottage is extremely homey and I would 100% rent again if I make it up to Maine in the future.

Wonderful stay away spot during quarantine
The house feels a lot bigger than how it looks from website. It’s beautiful and well stocked and has everything we need. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable. we really enjoyed our stay. The owner Jean is so kind, she goes out of the way to make sure the house is in the best condition and her guests are comfortable. Fantastic in every way!
We had a wonderful experience renting Moss Mountain Cottage for a week. The house was immaculate and had the perfect amount of space for a family of 5. Jean was an amazing host! We really appreciated all of the details she put into making our stay comfortable. The house is a perfect location to stay away from the crowds in Bar Harbor but still only a 15 min drive to the park entrance. We hope to stay there again some day. Highly recommended!!

Thanks Bill and Jean for a wonderful Thanksgiving get away at your property. EVERYTHING was perfect. We appreciated your timely communications and the ease of checking in and out. The home was exactly what we needed to spend time with the family over the holiday. It was nice to arrive to a kitchen that was stocked with more than everything we needed as far as cooking utensils and supplies. Beds were comfortable and a great laundry room to stay ahead of the dirty winter clothes. The home was nicely decorated making it warm and welcoming. Thanks again!

Peaceful getaway
Cannot say enough good things about our recent trip to MDI. Moss Mountain Cottage fit our needs and more. While the weather did not cooperate for us to utilize the outdoor grill or fire pit, we felt completely at home with the many small touches that Jean and Bill fit into this home. The house is about 10-12 minutes from Bar Harbor, but the drive is easy. The rooms are spacious and fill with light during the day. It was nice to have parking off the road and to feel like we were tucked away after a long day of sight-seeing. Had we wanted to cook all meals at home, there was more than adequate kitchen utensils and spices for doing so. We were appreciative of the extra steps that Jean went to for making our short, but full stay easy. Will plan to stay here in the future! Great find!

This was truly a home away from home, cozy and comfortable. The location is private and quiet, perfect for relaxing from busy and noisy every day life. Comfortable, quiet, spacious.
My teenage daughter and I rented Moss Mountain Cottage for a quick mother-daughter trip. This was our first time to the area, to Acadia National Park, and to Maine and we were not disappointed. Jean was beyond helpful. She was in touch, but never invasive. She gave great suggestions for places to visit, trails to hike and favorite restaurants. The cottage was clean and very well-equipped. We had everything we needed to make our selves at home, eat in, and enjoy a relaxing long weekend. I'd return again in a heartbeat!

Little Cottage in the Woods
That is the name our granddaughter gave to Moss Mountain Cottage. So comfortable and relaxing after a long day of sightseeing on Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park. Jean has thought of everything to make this your home away from home including an arts and crafts basket for our 4 year old granddaughter which she loved making potholders on a loom! Moss Mountain Cottage - home away from home!
We spent a wonderful week at Moss Mountain Cottage. Jean is a perfect host, the house has everything you could need and many things you never even would have thought about having. It was an ideal location for our adventures in and around Mount Desert Island - Arcadia and Bar Harbor are just minutes away. It's an hour drive from Bangor airport, easy to find yet feels private and secluded. We spent more time in the house than on other vacations because it was so comfortable and homey. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the area!

Ideal retreat
My two kids and I (ages 3 and 10) just returned from a week at Moss Mountain Cottage, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. The cottage is so welcoming but also uncluttered, very well-stocked and appointed, and set back nicely from the road. The beds upstairs are fantastically comfortable, and the biggest bedroom has a great selection of books for both children and adults. We had a wonderful time exploring the Park Loop, taking short hikes through the woods down to the ocean (there is a lovely trail without car parking less than a quarter mile down the street), and watching the deer and birds from the yard and surrounding woods. We connected with Jean our first day there and she truly is a great hostess, and very knowledgeable about the area. Our time at the cottage was both relaxing and rejuvenating, and I'm grateful we had the opportunity to visit such a beautiful part of New England.

All the comforts of home but even more organized!!
We had a wonderful stay at Jean’s home with our two young boys. It was so comfortable being there, lacking nothing. The boys enjoyed the DVD collection early in the mornings, since they aren’t allowed much tv at home. There was something for everyone. My favorite part was the local organic blueberries which Jean so graciously acquired for us, in addition to the welcome basket filled with homemade jam and veggies from the garden. The binder is one of the best I’ve seen. There were clear directions for everything, and where to find things. The carpeted stairs were perfect for our kids - note there is no baby gate at the top, so carpet was important to us, just in case. All the appliances worked well. The place we stayed next in another town was ok but really made us long for all the comforts that Jean provided, including towels and linens!! Our only point of caution to future guests - the beds are very soft, which are cozy for kids but can be an issue for a bad back.

Perfect getaway for Acadia National Park Exploration with 3 small kids!
We had a wonderful in this peaceful cottage as our home base! It was quiet, clean, well stocked. We were so surprised to receive a kind welcoming gift including delicious homemade jam! What a perfect touch. We have 3 kids six years and under and this was a great place to rest while not out swimming, beach combing or hiring. The kids watched some classic Disney movies and played some new games like Go Fish that were in the home for us use. They also got their first taste of Saltwater taffy and loved it! The rooms were cool with the air conditioners, the beds comfortable, the towels soft - I could go on here about all the details that made this like a home away from home! Thank you so much for your hospitality. We loved exploring the nature of this beautiful part of Maine!

The house was meticulously cared for and in pristine condition! The owner, Jean made special arrangements to add 2 window unit air conditioners to accommodate a health issue! Everything we asked for and more, was taken care of and she was readily available once we were staying in the house. It was a wonderful place to stay and she could not have been better to deal with from start to finish!! We will definitely be back!

Lovely cottage and great location
Jean and Bill provided one of the nicest, neatest, and best supplied cottages that I have rented through VRBO/Home Away. The cottage is very tastefully decorated, but still comfortable and homey. There are plenty of supplies that are so helpful to guests staying for a few days or more. Clear explanations are left for guests to locate items, or how to operate devices. All the detail certainly helped to make our stay very pleasant and enjoyable. The area of the cottage is quiet, which is a plus, though everything, Bar Harbor and Acadia are very close by. I would definitely return to Moss Cottage again.
