Niché dans les pins sur un demi-acre de terrain, «Fern Valley Cottage» comprend 2 chambres, 2 salles de bains, une cour clôturée, un jardin et un coin salon. Cette cabine présente une architecture d’artisans, une touche des années 30 et 40, un poêle vintage Rachel Ray et des meubles Pine Craft. «Fern Valley Cottage» se trouve à quelques pas de Strawberry Creek, à quelques pas de la ville ou à 5 minutes en voiture des sentiers de randonnée du parc Humber. Cute cabin but management company is poor. Can't keep doors open to the outside, which is why you're in Idyllwild in the first place. Screen doors are not fully sealed so bugs and other ground creatures can enter home. Ants on the kitchen counter and animal hair on rug in den was a problem as well.

Place was very clean and perfect location. I've been around the place several times over the years since my mom lives across the street. We rented because we had extra family and it worked out great. I wish it was better weather, but that's how it goes. Idyllwild is a great little community. If the need arises get rent again, we certainly will.

Two issues. I just rented for night and made the reservation the night before. I then got a complicated email asking me to copy my license and credit cared and sign a several page contract. The agent was nice enough in the office , but would not rent a property from them again since I am taking a few days off to get away from paperwork, not add more. Also the number was not on the unit and we weren’t clear that we were in the right place. Paid over $400 to stay and because the unit was decorated with yard sale furniture and the bed was squeaky I would not recommend. Perhaps if priced at less than $200 it would be worth it.

We stayed at this property 2/24-2/27. The listing stated that this property was completely fenced for dogs. In fact, it is not. The front gate has an area adjacent to it that is completely open and goes out into the street. I had to harness my two dogs whenever they needed to go out. They could not just roam on their own. It was completely inconvenient for me to keep doing this throughout the trip.
We ordered a bushel of firewood for $25 to be delivered. This wood did not burn. It is not seasoned. We tried kindling and fire starters. All it created was a bunch of smoke.
We made the owner aware of these things and requested a $25 refund for unused wood that we had to leave at property. We never heard back. Unacceptable. We visit Idyllwild every year and will not be using Vrbo or staying g at this cabin.

We had 3 lovely days in Idyllwild to hike, explore, shop and snuggle. No snow, but chilly and the comfortable beds and awesome heater made nights cozy and comfortable. The location of the property makes for an easy, short drive, or walk to town. Yet distanced enough to be private and off the beaten path, and quiet. The design of the home provides lots of privacy too, with bedrooms on either end. We loved the extra dining space and used the big table to start a puzzle. The cabin felt like a home with all the amenities, thoughtful touches, and mountain decor. We will return and I would highly recommend the property and management staff to friends. New Spirit staff were helpful and kind. We enjoyed great pizza at Idyllwild pizza, enjoyed the brewery food and drink, Red Kettle did not disappoint, and have a small addition to the chocolate at El Buen Cacao.

Our first time to Idyllwild and it was eventful! We loved being able to have our dogs with us the owners of the property were very accommodating (Thank you!) We learned that Riverside County has specific noise monitoring device requirements, which the rental management also explained to us ASAP and put us at ease. These devices actually help keep Idyllwild quiet and peaceful, which is why we wanted to get away to begin with. We also accidentally locked ourselves out of the property and the management company came to the rescue within mere minutes! It was impressive. Granted I had to hike around to get cell service, this place really is a "get away" haha.
The cabin was adorable, so well decorated with bears, woodland animals and the garden was beautiful. I took note of many of the plants to try to grow at home. My daughter loved the old bathtub and stopper. Beds were cozy, and loved all the low cabin-y lighting. We met the Mayor, walked the shops, stopped by the museum, and hiked. My daughter left her slippers and they called to see if we needed them back or if we wanted to donate them (donation it is!) We really needed this little vacay. We will be back!!! Thank you for everything!!!

The cabin was as described for location and amenities. It was comfortable and quiet. The one thing that we were not pleased with was the added on pet charge of $210 for our 6 day stay with our dog. We specifically looked for pet friendly properties and made our reservation thinking that this property had the price included in the rate that was charged when we made the reservation. Other properties we looked at had the pet fee outlined in the stated rates and we thought this one did as well. This was most disappointing to have it not fully disclosed in the daily rate quoted.

The property was exactly as advertised. Our family went up to Idyllwild, CA for Thanksgiving week and it was most relaxing. We brought our food up to the cabin and it worked out perfectly. The cabin was walking distance to the town and we loved feeding the bluejays.

Great cabin!
We really enjoyed our time at the cabin! It was very clean and had all the basics we needed. The WiFi worked great and I was able to work from the table in the backyard. Our pup enjoyed the large backyard and we liked sitting in the front yard too although she had to be on leash as the driveway was open to the street. Thank you for providing the nuts for the jays. It was fun to watch their antics along with all the hummingbirds. We hope to stay here again!

Amazing Property
This property had so much charm and character inside/out. Having stayed at many rental homes in the past and in Idyllwild, I will look no further. The house was warm and inviting. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils and cooking items needed. The very large fenced property was great for my dogs and had so many charming seating areas and decorations. Highly recommend this property. Looking forward to going back in the snow.

My daughter and 14 year old granddaughter did a girls getaway. The cabin was perfect for us. It was cozy and homey. A 2 minute drive to the shops and restaurants. The area seemed to be really quiet and while there were neighbors, it felt secluded. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was nice and there were basic spices available and ample dishes and cookware. Nice gas range but not the vintage one noted in info about cabin. Website should be updated. There was an unusual heat wave with temps in the mid to upper 90’s. The cabin does not have AC, but the ceiling fans in the kitchen, living room, and guest room kept it comfortable. The master bedroom did not have a fan. Since we live a few hours away and I tend to get hot easily, I had brought my small powerful fan so we were able to keep the room cool although the office said we could call if we needed one. We were able to keep the house cool and reasonably comfortable. The bathrooms were nice and there was a nice supply of lotions, soap, etc. The master bath has a shower; the guest bath only has a tub. Owners may want to think about upgrading or adding a shower adapter.. We enjoyed looking out into the yard to watch squirrels play, feed the blue jays, and exploring the various sitting areas in the yard. Loved the Red Kettle for breakfast. And really good pizza at Idyllwild Pizza. Too hot to try to cook much. Be aware.....some restaurants and businesses close on Monday, Tuesday, and/or Wednesday. We definitely would come here again.

The cabin was adorable with lovely inspirational sayings decorating every room and cute wooden bears and squirrels all around. The neighborhood was beautiful for walking the dogs in and the cabin's proximity to town was a real plus. The heat worked well in the master bedroom suite, but never seemed to warm up the family room, which is where we spent much of our time. I was disappointed to find there were no spices in the kitchen nor was there any cooking oil, which hindered our cooking ability. Luckily I brought everything else we needed from home. The property management was mixed. One woman working there was clueless and completely inflexible. I had called from home and was told unequivocally that there was a DVD player in the unit. There was not! Also, because we hadn't cleared out at the stroke of 10 am and despite our having phoned several times to inquire about check-out time, this same young woman insisted we would be penalized with a late check-out fee. The cabin was truly a gem; the property management staff was not.

Great Cabin - Lots of room and easy walk to town / big yard. Only thing I'd note is while the backyard is fenced in, if you have a smaller dog, not sure the fence would keep them in, and there was one place we had to move some stuff to block a missing section of fence. Not an issue with our St. Bernard though (who liked the cabin and yard as well) and is just way too big and clumsy to escape.

We've rented mountain cabins before, but this was our first in Idyllwild. It's about a 1/2 mile walk to town and is very cozy with the vintage cabin charm. Everything seemed to be in good working order except the electric fireplace in the master bedroom only has lights, no heat, but the wood stove in the living room and the forced air unit worked very well. There were lots of squirrels, rabbits, hummingbirds and bluejays every day to watch. The deadbolt on the front door is a bit tricky to open, being vintage, and I had to call the office to get someone to get us in. I wish the entire property was fenced as I would've liked to enjoy the more private front patio side with the dogs.
My only issue with the property is that even though the backyard is "fenced", I wouldn't exactly say it was secure/safe if you have inquisitive dogs/kids. It's got welded wire fencing about 3 feet tall with short wood fencing on the neighbor's side, but there were tall piles of wood/tools/storage against 2 sides that can easily be climbed on to get out and a few wood fence boards missing. One of the guys from the office was kind enough to move some ladders that were against the wood fence to block the fence gaps so my dog didn't try to get out. Even with this, I still had to keep a close eye out when the dogs were in the backyard as one of them got stuck between the wood pile and the fence when he climbed on it.

Nana and Papa's place couldn't be more perfect! The layout of the home allows everyone space and with plenty of areas to sit outside it was tranquil.The location of the property was perfect as it is close to town and yet far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the night.
