A propos de ce maisonrental
Rockmere Inn: Fireplace, Charning Historic Town, Spacious, 3 King Suites, Fast WiFi, Parking

Gas House Beach est à Little Harbour.

We had a group of 6 dads staying at the house while our kids were at a lax camp at Endicott College. It's a short walk to the waterfront shops/restaurants. Also about a 10-15 minute drive to Salem. We didn't stop there, but the shops and restaurants looked interesting. We had a great time sitting around talking and then heading out to the local places.
Parking can be a little frustrating, but overall it was a great place.

This home was built in early 1700’s so the history and charm are infiltrated into every aspect of this home! That being said it’s not suitable for those who need ADA accessibility or any mobility concerns. It was a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of towels and pillows for all 10 of us.

Just spent the week at Rockmere Inn, Marblehead. It was a charming house in a beautiful town. Lots of activities for the Fourth of July even though the fireworks were canceled due to a fire. The entertainment in the park was fabulous. Looking forward to visiting again.

This place was great for a large group (there were 6 of us). Lots of space, and the bedrooms are nice and big. Walking distance to great restaurants, bars, & shops. The Marblehead area is beautiful, and it's nice to stay in an old 1700s house while you're there. Recommended!

This place was great! There were 4 couples - all of us in our late 40's/early 50's. We spent 3 nights 4 days in the Rockport, Salem and Boston area.
This house was perfect for all of us. I will tell you this is old and historic house. There are lot's of steps and not a lot of plugs. So bring a power strip with you. It was perfect for a long weekend and we had great communication with the host!

This house was perfect for our trip. We were celebrating my Granddaughter’s 1st birthday! Her name is Salem, and we wanted an old time feel. This house was just that house. The furniture and everything was perfect. It was so unique. The hosts answered my emails immediately and checked on us during our stay. Love, love, loved it!

A wonderful home in the beautiful, quaint town of Marblehead. It was the perfect central location for our girls getaway weekend. The home is spacious and allowed everyone plenty of space, but also giving a cozy and warm feel. We used Marblehead as our base and easily did day trips to Salem and Rockport. We found Marblehead to be relaxing and away from the busier, surrounding towns. Great opportunities to walk and explore the area, too. Hosts were fantastic and very prompt in responding to our questions. They even brought us extra flashlights when there was a potential for a hurricane to hit the area. Thankfully it did not and our weather was perfect. Highly recommend this house and the town if looking for quaint and quiet.

The house is quirky and fun! Lots of beds and spaces to hang out.

I think the other reviews for this house are pretty accurate. It's a very old house, full of antiques so is a bit dusty, smells of mold a bit, and is weird with a lot of funky stairs and strange things like needing instructions to use the oven and to find light switches behind wall panels. However, it fit our group of 8 people nicely and the location in Marblehead can't be beat. Parking was much less of a problem than we expected it to be and we probably didn't need the second parking pass that we paid for, but I'd imagine that week of July 4 or during snow it would be good to have.

This home is absolutely beautiful! Everything was perfect and management was very quick to respond. Our Keurig was broken and they had a brand new one for us that next day. Any questions I had they were quite to answer. Would definitely stay here again! Made my college graduation weekend super special.

We had adults, a 10 year old, and a 2 year old and the house fit everyone wonderfully. We loved the outside courtyard and sitting area. The kitchen was well-equipped for a large luncheon with additional family and friends. The king bed in the lowest level is a sleeper sofa. When I advised the property manager it was not comfortable, they had a 3 inch topper delivered that day. This made a huge difference in the comfort. The location is great for walking to the harbor and downtown.

We had an enjoyable family vacation in Marblehead staying at this charming house built in 1825, located in the historic district. It is conveniently located in walking distance to may shops, restaurants, and the water. There was adequate room for all nine of us. The size of the bathrooms/showers is quite small with narrow stairs, and uneven steps/floors, which is fitting for the age of the home, but could be a potential problem if anyone has ambulatory issues. Otherwise, highly recommend.

Rockmere (formerly Tabitha's Inn) was perfect for our celebration reunion. We easily slept 8 adults. We enjoyed sit down dinners and conversation in multiple rooms. The outdoor space was a nice visual. It was an easy drive to the airport and the T.
A few notes: *there are stairs to go everywhere. *The Captain's Quarters is best set up as 2 trundles as the king conversion creates a bar in the middle of your back. It is a lovely room. * when you arrive on Mechanic St, look for a fence and gate, not a house * it really is parking for only 1 car *bring all food and toiletries * the place was clean although you can see old mold stains. * the management is very responsive.
I highly recommend Rockmere for larger groups.

We stayed with our four teenagers while exploring Salem and surrounding area. The two master bedrooms were bright and cozy. House was located within walking distance of the shops. I even had a great massage at the Love Day Spa and we walked right across to the Harbor Light Inn to have a drink at their cozy bar.

Everything worked out well. We worried a little bit because our friend was in his mid 70’s. The house has a lot of steps. Everything was fine though. Thank you for being so responsive to our text messages.

It was a neat experience staying in such a historic home and area. The drive to Salem wasn’t bad at all but the town of Marblehead itself is so charming. The owners got in touch with me quickly with answers to my questions. The house is full of steep stairs so do be prepared for them. There is only one parking spot with the house and additional parking can be hard to find so keep that in mind. We would likely stay here or in this area again.

Great house for a group with wonderful details of a 1700’s home. Fantastic location walkable to restaurants, shopping and groceries. Short drive to the beach and CVS. Excellent communication and attention by management. Was a bit hot during the afternoons in the kitchen and upper bedrooms even with AC on but cooled down by evening. Comfortable accommodations. Could use a bit of an update (upholstery stains and grout coming out in shower/tub), but house was clean, beds were comfortable and laundry and dishwasher were great. Would recommend to a group going to Marblehead!

You have to be ok with quirkiness when renting. A house like this for sure! It was hotter than hades the week we were there and the room coolers could not keep up. Wie had to buy box fans to make it but the heat wave was not within their control. It might be nice to have extra fans for the bedrooms.
Manager was super responsive and accommodating.
Thanks!

This house has amazing potential. It was roomy enough for our party of 8 family members celebrating my mom's birthday. You won't turn a corner in the area of Marblehead where this house is situated without seeing something unbelievably quaint.
Unfortunately, the house and its furnishings seem very neglected. The kitchen was very dirty when we arrived for check-in (kitchen drawers filled with crumbs, very smelly refrigerator, and the sink faucet must have been leaking for many visits before we arrived as there was mold and warping in the cabinet under the sink). And the leak was so bad we couldn't use the kitchen sink the first night of our stay. The table leg on the kitchen table was broken and we felt uncomfortable using that table for the duration of our stay as we did not want to cause further damage. So sad because we had hoped to enjoy cooking for ourselves in what appeared in the online pictures to be a gorgeous gourmet kitchen.
The bathrooms on the two top floors also had quite a bit of mold/mildew embedded in the caulking. Not pleasant.
The furnishings in the main living area were also quite stained, leaving us with no confidence that the entire residence had been thoroughly cleaned and looked after.
On our final night of a 4 night stay, (July 13th) during a hard rain overnight my son and niece both woke from sleep due to water dripping on their heads in the attic bedroom from an apparently leaky roof. They were on opposite sides of the room.
All in all we felt duped by the pictures online and would not have chosen this property for our yearly family vacation. Attention to maintenance and checking in on the cleaning service would really go a long way in making guests of the Rockmere Inn more comfortable.

Pre-Wedding and 4th of July Family Gathering
This property was perfect for our family gathering. The backyard and location are fantastic! The house was clean and more than enough for all of our family to have plenty of space. The only negatives were the neighbors (who made it clear they don't like having a short term rental property close by) and the outside trash bins were overflowing when we arrived.

Amazing Location!
This quaint historic home in Marblehead is so very close to everything! You can walk to the waterfront, the shops, great restaurants, coffee shop, and muffin shop! We loved the outdoor patio space! It was the perfect place to relax. The large table in the dining room was perfect for our large family of nine to all eat together. However, since it is a historic home, there were some modern issues. When all of the individual room air conditioners were running, they would frequently trip the breaker. They each could benefit from being on their own dedicated circuit. It was summer and the A/C's had a very hard time keeping us cool. Also, the home was closed up and no A/C was running when we first arrived. It seems like it would have been more thoughtful to cool the home down before we got there. The air filters in the A/C needed to be cleaned, so we cleaned them. The overflowing trash from the previous renters greeted us when we arrived. The owner said they were waiting for trash removal day, and the owner did remove the trash on that day, yet it would have been more welcoming if the previous renter's trash had been removed before we arrived. Also, none of the bedroom windows had room darkening shades so, when the sun came up just after 5 am, it was hard to sleep. It seems like it would be more thoughtful and an easy fix to provide guests with a dark room to sleep in. Overall, we loved our stay in Marblehead, however, we felt that there was more that the owner could have done to make the home more comfortable for guests.

Great location and amazing feel of history.
Overall we loved our stay in Marblehead at this property. The look at feel made it seems like we were going back in time (in a good way). The best were comfortable and the appliances all worked well. Loved the water pressure in each of the showers in the three bathrooms. It was walking distance to anything you needed and the little courtyard was PERFECT for my kids. They really enjoyed exploring and we didn't have to worry one bit able them. It was also really nice to have a working washer and dryer in the unit.
Some areas that would have put it over the top, would have been a reply when I reached out with a question from the owner, working lights in the downstairs, cleaned kitchen appliances (especially the toaster), cleaning up the dog poop covering the parking spot, and more organized spare bedding.
Again really enjoyed it and it was moderately priced given the area.

Thanksgiving at the Rockmere Inn
We were visiting from Virginia and wanted a place where we could host Thanksgiving to honor my husband’s parents who had been preparing Thanksgiving dinners until they retired and downsized. The well-stocked kitchen and elegant dining room were perfect for the occasion. My 91 year old father in law thought it was his most memorable Thanksgiving celebration. My mother in law was amazed at the many rooms and period furnishings. There was a lot of room for our other guests to mingle, in the sitting room adjacent to the dining area and the formal living room. Despite some old-fashioned fixtures, the house has lots of amenities and conveniences for out of town travelers, including great internet connection. We love the spacious Master bedroom with a very comfortable bed and a charming fireplace. The house is conveniently located in the heart of Marblehead, within walking distance to the water front, various shops and restaurants. We truly enjoyed our stay and wished we stayed a little longer. Thank you so much, Liann, for being a marvelous and accommodating host!

Family accommodations for local wedding
The Rockmere Inn was large enough to accommodate my family and both sets of parents for my son’s wedding in Salem. This was an affordable alternative to multiple hotel rooms! We were able to hold the rehearsal dinner at the house and people commented how much more comfortable it was than having the dinner in a restaurant. Liann was very accommodating and helped with securing additional parking in the area.
The house was full of character and history and was just the right setting for our family.

Beautiful Marblehead
Charming 300 year old home in the heart of Marblehead. Easy walking distance to quaint shops and waterfront . Better appreciation for the importance of Marblehead during the revolutionary war.
House wasn’t totally cleaned before we aren’t arrived. Found empty pudding cups on the lower level with some pudding on the wood.
Lights and switches should be labeled so you know what controls what. Good luck on finding the top lights in the kitchen!
Some lights didn’t work or the bulbs were burnt out. Suggest rental agency checks this out before next guests.

Property Review
The property itself is lovely and the location great. There was black mold in two showers and bath mats did not appear clean. The shower stall on the third floor did not have anything to hold soap, etc.

Charming
Great location in a great town. We had a great week. We loved the yard and were thankful for the room air conditioning units. They had a hard time keeping up during our unusually hot week but it was better than nothing. I would suggest more items for the kitchen (bowls, plates, cups, baking sheet, etc.). to more easily make meals for the number of people the house sleeps. Also, it would be great to include the history of the home in your welcome book.
8.0 / 10.0
Great location, house is decent.
The house itself is as billed - antique, plenty of space, some updates. The downstairs “king suite” is a pull out couch, and the crew room was smaller than anticipated. Additionally, while there were plenty of outlets, few seemed to work. Many of the lamps and lights were either missing bulbs, or not in working condition - even when we sampled flipping various switches - (labels may help that sitch?)
