The facilities are good
Unfortunately, my experience with the hotel was disappointing because of the staff, knowing that the hotel has good facilities as well. There is a note about making beds and room services are very bad compared to other hotels in Japan. There are better services and additional benefits than this hotel.

We stayed in one of the Japanese themed rooms and it was truly lovely! The room itself was beautifully laid out and extremely spacious. You have a bedroom area and a lounge/sitting space for tea or watching TV. The bathroom as well is an entirely separate area with a washing machine that is easy to use. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and we're always willing to offer insights into the best spots to eat or visit whilst staying in Kyoto! I would highly recommend staying here on your next visit to Kyoto!
The hotel itself is about 20 minutes away from the main tourist area (by this I mean the restaurants and bars) so bring your walking shoes! This wasn't a bad thing as provided a bit more relaxation to our stay as wasn't loud and busy.

Ryokan experience with extra comfort and luxury. Spacious, beautiful Japanese design decor, huge wooden bathtub, central location within walking distance of restaurants, cafes, shops, metro stations.
No help with the luggage.

The hotel Shikisai was simply extraordinary. Our suite was very spacious, with a large bedroom, an equally large bathroom and a lovely lounge. The decoration was refined and all the amenities were there to make our stay enjoyable. A truly luxurious experience, in a fantastic area of Kyoto where we found plenty of good restaurants. We would definitely be back if we return to Kyoto in the near future.

The ambiance was amazing! we chose the Gion room and were not disappointed. the staff were lovely and very accommodating. this is my second time in this hotel and will surely come back if I am to visit Kyoto again.

The hotel is in a great central location close to many sights and places to eat and great shopping. The staff were so kind and polite and went out of their way to be helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very quiet, so we slept well.
Our room (Nuance suite) seemed in need of a bit of refurbishment. There were several stains on the carpet and lots of scuff marks on the walls. The sitting area was spacious, but the couch was not very comfortable for watching tv. There was no coffee table in front of the couch. There were two chairs, but no desk, so there was nowhere to get work done, which made the chairs seem out of place and room seem a bit empty. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our 18 days in Japan and it also had the worst quality toilet paper and the bedding wasn't as soft as at the other places we stayed.

We like everything about this place - the room, location, staff. It is a small hotel but also luxurious. Its design is well thoughts and all equipments are carefully selected - the equiped kitchen, utensils, amenities. The room is spacious. We drive the car, and the location is well in the middle of the city, so easily access to everything. Many restaurants options, starbucks and family marts in walking distance.
No parking onsite but many options around the property. The roof top has good lighting; the dome is nice but a bit outdated.

The room and the staff
we changed to another room and the new room didn't have a closet when the pictures showed the opposite

The receptionist was so kind, helpful, and friendly! He helped us booked dinner at a restaurant, and he even spoke a bit of Italian. The room was beautiful and the location of the hotel is great, in a rich neighborhood and close to a subway station. One of the best hotels I've ever been.

We had the "Bali-Room" and it was beyond beautiful. You really could tell that a lot of thought, love and care is put into the room, but in the hotel as a whole as well. This place is a Gem. Total recommendation.

We had such a wonderful two night stay. It’s in a great little area and so close to public transport, and an array of nearby restaurants and cafes. The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay and holiday.
Will be telling friends and family to stay here! Hope to be back sometime soon.
Nothing!
