Romance and Adventure on the High Seas! The Charles Andrew with Motorized Skiff

Weather didn't cooperate as we might have liked but we loved staying in the harbor listening to the fish jump, watching the seals pop their heads above water and seeing the bald eagles fly right over our deck.

We had a wonderful experience on the Charles Andrew. It was a fun adventure. The marina is charming and there is so much to keep you busy on and around the houseboat. We loved exploring the islands by skiff and by kayak. The Osprey is a delicious restaurant on the property.
Jimmy was so helpful and gave us all the information we needed about the Charles Andrew and the local happenings.
We will be back for sure!!!

Everything about the Charles Andrews was spot on. We received good instruction as to operating our skiff as well as the operation of onboard specifics - water, heat, safety, etc. My daughter and I enjoyed exploring the quiet coves around us. We were seeking peace and tranquillity and definitely achieved this, be it through waking up with almost 360 degree views from our bedroom, to sitting on deck enjoying coffee/breakfast, lunch. Dinner was a great treat at the marina on-sight Osprey Restaurant….so much that we ate there all three nights. The Charles Andrew was exactly what we desired and received. We would definitely return.

Houseboat Livin'
This property was so lovely! It exceeded our expectations. The location is so gorgeous and the vibrant marina is a fun place to call home. The team who helped us were all so great and the time on the boat was extremely peaceful. I'd love to return with my kids someday. We had a blast zooming around in our little dingy. Watching the lobster pots getting pulled right off the bow was delightful and, of course, we kept a lookout for Reggie the seal and saw him every day. Give one of these houseboats a try!

Wonderful Experience
This was our first trip to Maine and we will definitely be back. The location of the houseboat is convenient yet secluded. The manager Jim was very helpful, and friendly. He even played us a few tunes on his guitar one evening.
Our expectations were far exceeded! The entire family wanted to stay longer!

Beautiful setting
Perfect space for 2 people, but still plenty of room for a family of four. Cosy and plenty of hot water. Different amazing view from every window. A little short on items to make a full meal for 4 but then not much room for cooking and besides restaurant to eat nearby is excellent. Bathroom was clean.

Fabulous vacation spot.
Loved it. Very clean and had all the needed essentials. we were able to buy lobster right from the fishermen in the harbor. We saw lots of wild life and a seal popped up around the houseboat through out the day most every day. It was comfortable and we'd love to come back and stay again.

Delightful adventure, beautiful setting
Great quiet location. Staff were very helpful. Use of the small boat to get to the house boat and explore the harbor and river was a great addition. We were lucky with perfect weather. Highly recommend for a weekend get away.

Best way to spend a 3-day weekend on coastal Maine
Our Labor Day weekend aboard the Charles Andrew exceeded all expectations. The boat is new, well appointed and perfectly maintained, all amenities are as advertised. During the day we explored under power, paddle, sail. . . Evenings we enjoyed great dinner at the boatyard restaurant (with full bar), watched a movie aboard and did some reading. Kids had a blast boating, fishing, watching seals right from their berth, etc. most important, the boatyard staff are delightful people who bent over backwards to make sure that we were having a great time. We strongly recommend this venue if you are looking for a memorable vacation.

Fabulous Stress Reducer!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay on The Charles Andrew! It was a definite 'get away from it all' vaca and we relaxed and had some unique fun. We had our little boat to take us to 'shore' and drove the short distance to quaint downtown Bath for shopping and a few very nice meals. The whole area around the cove is beautiful, the weather was perfect and we were like kids on an adventure. Highly recommend it to all you work-alcoholics and local folks, as well!

Perfect ! Getaway.
Everything about this house boat was as it was described in the advertisement. The views were awesome. The staff very helpful. There was not anything missing.
We were looking for a quiet getaway for our 22nd anniversary, and this was perfect. We cooked on the boat as well as ate at some of the area restaurants. Reid state park was nearby and the weather was great for a walk on the beach. We will definitely be making a return trip.

Everyone was friendly and helpful!!
The views were beautiful; we were there later in the season so it was very peaceful. We did some excellent kyaking and explored Riggs Cove with the skif. We went ashore and walked around Reid State Park then went to dinner at a nearby Inn. Our cabin was bright and sunny, warm and comfortable. Everything was well appointed. The nights were nippy but the gas stoves kept us warm. We also enjoyed lounging the zero gravity chairs after kyaking. We had plenty of towels, hot water, and the shower had good pressure. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in. In all, we could not have picked a better little get away. We have spread the word and hope many of our friends will also try this fun and fine adventure! Thanks Riggs Cove Rentals! Oh, and we enjoyed the "history" hut. I was looking at pictures of the area from so many time periods.

An amazing vacation!
Our stay on the Charles Andrew was idyllic. The description of the houseboat (tugboat) was perfect, it was all it was described to be in the brochure. It was roomy enough, yet still had a cozy feel. Everything you could imagine needing or wanting on the boat was provided. It was very clean and in fact it appeared brand-new. The owner, managers and all the staff were " at your service" at all times. They were courteous, helpful and friendly. I have already recommended this property to numerous people and we plan to visit again next summer. The beauty of this harbor was you really didn't have to ever leave it, since 2 kayaks, a sailboat and the Osprey Restaurant were right there. I suggest you pack a stack of good reading, drive the skiff over to a local lobsterman to buy his catch and sit back to watch the harbor at various times of the day.

Peace and relaxation
If what you seek is peace and down time this is the vacation for you. If you want for that fresh ocean smell, then look no more. Every night you slip into dusk to the cries of the hunting osprey.
Everyday a lobster boat or two enters the cove a few hours after sunrise and go about their tasks. You can even buy your lobster directly from them. From the cove's bottom into your pot!
Everything you need is on the boat from cooking pans/pots/utensils, glassware, dishes, linen and towels, AM/FM radio with Ipod connection, WX weather radio, and a DVD player for the movies you bring. The “put-put”, your small motorized skiff, connects you to the shore. Food shopping is only 10 miles away in Bath, so there is no need to byo like we did.
Down the road 10 minutes away is the 5 Island lobster shack with fabulous sea food and fresh cooked lobsters. You can buy them to go then take them back to the boat all cooked and ready to eat.
If it is the beach you crave, Reid state park is just down the road from 5 Island.
We did a lot of nothing: sunning on the deck in the zero gravity chairs, midday naps, lobster boat watching, watching the seals and the osprey and even the leaping 3 foot sturgeons. We took the “put-put” out to explore the cove, you might like to use the two on board kayaks to go exploring. If you can handle a sailboat, there is one at the docks for your use.
We stayed a week. We plan to return and perhaps stay longer. We went there stressed, we returned relaxed. What more could you want from a vacation?

Don't miss this fantastical experience!
Wake up with 360 degree views of the water. Explore the cove in the kayaks. BBQ on the water with a glass of wine. Play out in the cove on the skiff. Take the skiff in for dinner or to listen to a live band on Friday night. Buy lobster straight from the lobstermen and cook them onboard! Enjoy the beautiful sunsets from your houseboat. Listen to the fish hop out of water; see the seals swim by. Hop over to Booth Bay Harbor for a whale watch, or dinner, or shopping, etc. Kick back in the sun and relax, read, or do whatever your heart desires! This is a fabulously unique experience... the water, the sun, the salt air, the intermittent ocean breezes... all in such a beautiful location... it's real food for the soul.
Andy and Warren were sweet and helpful, always a kind face possibly revealing the inevitable outcome of being part of such a wonderful environment and special situation. Oh, and add the deckhands and the restaurant staff to the list of warm and friendly. All of it together adds up to one very memorable and uniquely enjoyable vacation.
Thanks for everything!

What a great way to finish our stay in Maine
We had such a fabulous stay! My husband and I wanted to experience the Maine coast to celebrate – and recuperate from – my completion of a 2200 mile Appalachian Trail thru-hike. The Charles Andrew was exactly what the doctor ordered. Very luxurious, with every detail in place. It had everything you could want, including a media system, kayaks, it's own motor boat, fully equipped kitchen...
We paddled around for hours, which a very nice change of pace for my tired legs. We ate like kings and even enjoyed a fresh lobster dinner on the deck. Weather was perfect the whole trip (late August), and on our last day we got to see a seal frolicking around behind the boat. All in all, just a perfect conclusion to my trek. I wish we could stay longer, but no worries – I’m already planning a trip back!

A great way to enjoy being on the water
We were overjoyed with our stay on the Charles Andrew. All I can say is that it met our expectations above and beyond what we were led to believe. The employees of RobinHood Marina bend over backwards to make sure you are prepared to board and manage your boat from the time they load your luggage on board and comlete your orientation such that you can handle all the boat's many amenities. The craft was immaculate. It is loaded with all you need to enjoy the time of your life. All you need is your food. Everything else is provided on board. The dinghy and engine are in fine condition and very capable of taking you safely anywhere you want to go. The harbor is typical Maine beautiful and fairly calm. This is a must for anybody that has had prior boating experience and knows what it is like to swing on the hook for a few realxing days. Between the very professional way we were treated by Warren and his staff and the steadfastness of Andy in making us happy we can't wait to go back aboard. I rate this a Five Star marine lodging. You will never want to stay in a stuffy waterside hotel again.
The location is kind of remote, so the shore facilities outside the marina and its restaurant, which is a pretty good, is limited. You have to go up to Bath for lots of dining choices. Closeby is Five Islands with a place called The Lobster House, which we found to be very very poor in its food quality and can not recommend.
The only minus I can think of is the lack of WiFi capability on the boat. They have great WiFi service and a place to work near the gas dock, but in my opinion the relaxing ambiance would be better if I could have done some work on the boat without having to carry my computer to the dock each time I wanted to log on. A minor point though. We loved our stay.
