Pros: We had a beautiful two-week stay at Turtle Bay, Estates in a nice location located on the 1st hole of the George Fazio golf course on the North Shore of Oahu. The condo was well cleaned with good security, parking, quiet and very comfortable. The price was very affordable and I found the staff helpful to meet our needs prior to arrival. Cons: The residence was built in 1973 and the appliances are in sad need of replacement. It was apparent that the owners were operating as cheap as possible putting little resources into the dwelling. Metal fixtures were rusting and paint peeling. The washer leaked (slightly) and the dishwasher did not work. When I called, the manager told me that they were awaiting a part which never appeared. Don’t know why I was not informed from the beginning. The burners on the stove were replaced with universal burners, which did not fit, so we had to cook food sideways. The bed mattress sadly sags in the middle and needs to be replaced. The gate entrance codes given did not work initially (this also happened to several other renters) and we had to wait in the rain for a resident to open the gate. Once we had the fob, there were no entrance problems. It was fun to observe the two resident geckos. Conclusion….It is what it is for the price. We were quite comfortable. If you are expecting a luxury hotel, you will be sadly disappointed. The condo quite adequately meets our needs in price, coziness, cooking meals, and a romantic location. I would stay again and look forward to returning! JP

When we arrived, the code for the gate was not accurate so we had to call the main number and they were able to remedy it quickly with a one time code. The unit is extremely dated. There is one air conditioner in the bedroom for the whole unit, which was in the back. There was one extremely dusty/dirty fan in the living room that was broken. Sitting in the living area in the afternoon was not possible, it gets extremely warm and there is no curtain/shade on the small window next to the sliding doors so the sun is in your face. The views to the golf course were beautiful, the pool was nice and accessible easily enough. Patio furniture was broken (table and chair). Dishes were dirty and I washed everything before we used them. The bed was extremely uncomfortable for both of us. In this case, we got what we paid for. I was looking for inexpensive and we definitely got what we paid for. We would not return to this unit, even at the price. The location is good.

Reviewer Comments: Gave the stay a 2 for the responsiveness of the Management Company and the price, but the owner really needs to spend a little money on the unit. Cabinets are particle board and one cabinet door fell off when we opened it. The shower in the master was unusable as the surround and curtain is unable to contain water and the only A/C unit in the bedroom leaked water onto the rug under the bed (smelled mouldy). The unit was not very clean as the slats on the closet doors were coated in dirt and the screens had spider webs. The unit is in a good community at Turtle Bay and sits on the golf course. Nice little beach at the resort and excellent food at Roys and Mai Tai's at the resort's poolside bar. The property management company was very responsive and brought extra towels for us to sop up water the next morning. They also continued with follow up. Good we were only there for 3 nights.

Whole renting process was very well orchestrated. Price was good for the amount of time we spent there. The condo is dated, needs a lot of work, there were ants everywhere, no A/C in the main living area except a small wall unit in the bedroom, but for the price I paid am happy. We were able to cook all our meals and saved a ton of money compared to most Hawaiian vacations. The house gets really hot and have to leave the doors open to get a nice flow of air. No big hotel amenities here. Just down to earth place to crash and cook nice meals.

I think someone showed up around 11:00 am the next day. very uncomfortable and dirty. the owner should put some money in that place and fix it up a bit.

The kitchen cabinets are falling apart and is necessary to be replaced. The baseboards are full of termites. And the kitchen smells like cockroach, and there is some of them living inside the cabinets. The bed is the worst, me and my husband had a lot of back pains during the stay. It’s a nice place to stay, but I don’t recommend nobody to stay there, unless the owner renew the kitchen cabinetry, changes the bed and solve the cockroach and termites problem. The management company was very professional and agile, so I’ll probably come back, but in another property.

Reviewer Comments: The Hula House was clean, I'll give it that, but otherwise, somewhat disappointing. The entire unit smelled musty and old. Not surprising since there is a single AC unit for the entire apartment that is located in the bedroom at the very front of the condo. Needless to say, the cooled air did nothing more than slightly cool off the bedroom. The remainder of the unit stayed warm and humid. The bed was probably one of the most uncomfortable, firm mattresses I have ever slept on. The furniture was incredibly old , falling apart, and not working correctly. The toilets did not flush properly and the toilet located in the bathroom in the bedroom leaked every time it was flushed. The front cover of the dishwasher nearly fell off the first time the washer was opened. Pretty sure the hot air from the dryer cycles right back to the top of the dryer and into the condo, which combined with the lack of AC, led to a particularly tropical environment inside. Oh and did I mention there's no Wi-fi?!?!?!!??!? How is that even an option these days????? My advice to you is, spend the extra 10-20$ per night and avoid this old, dying unit. We saw the inside of several of the other condos and it was a night and day difference!

Appliances and utinsils hardly work. The TV is a ridiculous box TV that doesn’t even have cable channels. It must be the oldest most outdated condo in the entire complex. And you have to drive opposite direction of the airport to drop off the keys to the offsite management co vs just leaving the keys in the unit. Such an inconvenience!

There are 2 wine glasses. One normal size, one child sized. I guess if your child needs wine they got you covered. If you like dead bugs, you can find them in the drinking glasses. The towels are new and fresh and you need them to put down to sit on the couch and chairs. You get the idea. For a budget it is fine and livable, for a relaxing vacation you may want to think about another unit.

It was fixed the day before we left with no compensation. The manager never returned any calls and was never available.
