The house is great for a family vacation and great for bringing your dog. It’s close to the beach and the beach is easy to access with kids. The kitchen is well stocked and the living space was comfortable to hang out in. My family and I would stay here again!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Have stayed at OH1213 at least 6-7 times. Last year we stayed at another Carolina Shores property in Whalehead. We remember the last update to Barefoot Babies years ago and now it needs a complete gut job. I understand that this property id now considered a "value" property without all the bells and whistles, but issues like the rust on the refrigerator door are really inexcusable. Carpets were badly frayed and incredibly stained. Cleanup crew did an almost non-existent job prior to our arrival which makes the extra 15 minutes we were required to wait (3:45 pm) infuriating. Also, kitchen fuses tripped twice during our stay. As usual, we left the property cleaner when we left than it had been upon our arrival.Finally, I didn't notice until mid-week that we were being charged for the Insurance plan @ $191. I'm surer if you check our account records you will see that we have never opted into to the Insurance in all the times we have rented through Carolina Shores. Just one more incredible disappointment.Time to try another rental agency.

The location and accessibility the the beach was perfectly, 5 minute walk. The house is nice however very dated. My family was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the house, it definitely could have been better. The space was large enough for our family overall a nice stay. Also might be better if information shared on the site about the beach equipment that was available.

Reviewer Comments: Our rental house was comfortable and clean in kitchen and bathrooms- the family room carpet had stains on it and burn marks and the screened in porch was dirty. It was in need of upgrades on the kitchen, bathroom floors, and family room carpet. The bathrooms needed updates on sinks and tubs, also. The house was less than 10 minutes from the beach and 10-15 minute walk to the lighthouse area. The neighborhood was quiet. Having both an uncovered deck with a small screened in porch and a covered deck was nice. So you had choice of sun or no sun. Great view of milky way at night! Having a master bedroom on top floor with other bedrooms and a bath on second level provided privacy for the other couple and our adult son. You could see a slight view of the ocean and one morning we saw a ship out there. There were a few things not working-one side of the 4 slice toaster and some of the lights. We had an issue with the WiFi not working and feel the problem could have been resolved by the realty or their maintenance by just asking us to check a view was not resolved till midweek and because of no internet, one of my guests had to seek a hot spot at the local library to attend a webinar for work. The internet service technician finally came out and located a plug that was out of the socket in one of the bedrooms. Perhaps the realty could post or their maintenance department call back and go through a simple checklist for renters to check. My husband had rebooted the router several times and we were also told initially that the problem was the company and should be resolved by the next day which of course it was not. Other than that-we enjoyed the beach, nature trails, wild pony tour, and visiting the Wright Brothers monument and museum in Kitty Hawk. Local restaurants had great food to dine in or take out. The Beer Garden was very enjoyable.

Although a very nice location, the home needs several updates. The deck needs to be redone, nails were sticking out making it dangerous for the children in our party, and the decks seemed rotted and dangerous in general prompting us to not spend much time outside. The roof leaked after a storm right into the bedroom, the microwave blipped out and we had to check the fuse box, and then finally a chair broke...too many issues, and to top it all off, the house was not the cleanest and did not even come with basics such as linens which had to be rented to an additional fee. Not thrilled!!!

This is not a fancy place and the photos are several years old, but it's still well put together with no bugs indoors and no smells. The location is perfect for a quiet stay very close to the beach. Downstairs outdoor shower and mudroom were perfect for keeping beach gear and shoes away from the rest of the house. Kitchen was also perfect, nice and spacious and well stocked. Bedrooms are all very equal. We actually preferred the downstairs queen to the upstairs, more windows.

Beach Babies is in a great location with easy access to the beach and also retail centers. The property itself needs a little TLC but has quaint beach house charm. The kitchen was fantastic and had anything we could have needed. There were lots of VHS tapes and a VCR/DVD player for watching movies if we fancied. We did enjoy an Indiana Jones movie one evening. Upon arrival we were very upset as the property was very dirty inside. Seemed the cleaning crew definitely didn’t do their job. We did address the issue with the rental company and they were very helpful in addressing our needs. All in all we had a great family vacation with beautiful weather.

We absolutely had a blast. We were at the ocean almost all day every day. We also climbed up currituck lighthouse shopped and had ice cream. Google maps doesnt indicate all the shopping placed but thered really is a lot close by including a food lion. The property was clean on arrival with everything promised in the description; however, I could not see the lighthouse from the porch. This wasnt a huge deal. The porches were amazing places to just relax and wind down or relax and wake up. Only complaint is the nails on the porch stuck out a bit far and if you had socks they prob would have been ruined. I still walked in bare feet and enjoyed the porch. The hammock outside was so nice too. Me and my doggo hung out there one evening and had she not seen another dog and decided I was in danger I may have fallen asleep outside. Speaking of outside, the outside shower is so much fun 10/10 recommend. My dog didnt like it but it was the best and easiest way to get the salt and sand off of her. Overall loved our stay. If I find a different house it will be for two reasons 1.) More extended family is coming or 2.) We find an oceanfront place at the last minute. Loved this whole trip. Def recommend it. Tip for moms: if your kiddos are anniyed walking to the beach tell them to pick out their favorite house or ask them what they would name their beach house if they had one. It made the walk go.much faster.

Checks almost all the boxes. Loved the blast from the past VHS collection, but an investment in a new living room TV would go a long way for a rainy day. The decks could use some love since there were a few splinters and nail head ouchies. Awesome location and beach!

For the price and location this is a good property. Kitchen is well equipped with anything you need. Saw previous comments on furniture but looks like outdoor furniture has been replaced. Nice that it has a fenced in area for our dog. Great outdoor decks- decking could use some love with either sanding down or adding outdoor carpets. It is suppose to be no smoking but there was a strong smoking smell ( and several ash trays) when we arrived and cig butts in the fenced in area. Overall would stay again

Very Satisfactory. This place met our needs and has tremendous beach access. Truly fantastic location and close to shops, Carova Beach, and amazing top deck views especially at night! I would recommend!

The house is comfortable, especially the beds, but dated. The fenced area and crate for dogs was an added convenience. We enjoyed the location of the home and easy walk to the beach.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this house. It was very clean and there was plenty of room for the six of us. We also appreciated the fenced in area outside for the dogs. The location was just a short walk to the beach with beach access at the end of this road. The gas grill wasn't working and needed major cleaning, but there was a charcoal grill that worked great for us. We'd stay here again.

Not a good value for the price. Basically OK but too many bad surprises. House and furnishings are dated. Wood deck chairs were dilapidated and dangerous. 1970s vintage tube state TV in LR was small and did not work with VCR or DVD players. House offered many video cassette movies but no DVDs. CS failed to deliver ordered linens till late on Sunday. Interior was inadequately cleaned and yard was filled with trash. Owner needs to put some profits into upgrades and maintenance.

The kitchen was great but the bathrooms showed a lot of wear and tear. Our biggest issue was the rodent infestation. Our car roof carrier was in the laundry room and upon packing to leave, we found a large hole that had obviously been chewed with insulation stuffed into it. Also, during our stay, we saw two rats outside on the property.

We were very happy with this property for our week in the OBX. It is a little dated, but the property had many amenities that we enjoyed, including a very short walk to the beach, lots of movies and puzzles for rainy days, and very dog-friendly. It might be a bit on the small side if you had more than five people, but I'm sure you could make do. We would stay here again for sure!

The overall layout worked well for our group. The indoor laundry area at ground level was nice, as we could come inside after showering outside and throw clothes straight into the washing machine. We also had a convenient place to leave things at ground level, but still indoors. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. We had most meals in, and had no issues finding all cookware, dinnerware, and utensils needed. The air conditioning worked very well. The ceiling fan in the downstairs queen bedroom needs attention. It was reported during our stay, but not corrected. It does not appear fully attached to the ceiling. We moved people out of that bedroom once this was noticed, as it did not seem safe. Also, the house had not been cleaned prior to our check in time, which is understandable, but we were not informed. The girls who came to clean were very nice, just wish we had known so that we could have allowed them to fully clean (we had unpacked too much when they arrived). Televisions were very dated and there was a lot of dog fur in the carpet. Living room furniture needs a deep cleaning.
