This house is so perfect! Lots of space. Awesome kitchen and outdoor areas. Easy walk to The Citadel. Easy communication with the owner. LOVE IT!

My friends and I went for a girls’ getaway- first time in this city. This house was perfect for us. We liked the layout of the place, the charm, and how it was a ten minute drive to King Street. The host James was amazing. He was responsive and helpful with recommendations. He asked for our ETA and then went over to the house to turn on the porch light for us. He was an attentive host and you can tell he takes pride in his property. We highly recommend this host and place.

We enjoyed our stay at this house. Great set up with 4 rooms and plenty of room for 6 of us. Well equipped kitchen with all rhe amenities and comfortable living room and porch. Appreciated the great communication and area recommendations. Definitely recommend this house. About 2 miles from the French Quarter and all the sights.

A group of 7 college girlfriends turning 60 just stayed at this beautiful home and had a wonderful vacation. It was very comfortable, has a great porch and back patio, is located just far away but also close enough to the downtown area and the host James was so accommodating. He quickly answered any questions before and during our stay. Highly recommend this great property if you're ever visiting Charleston.

We had the best stay at the Lord Ashley in October. James was the kindest host and was even able to accommodate our early check in and check out time due to delayed and changed flights. The house was in perfect shape and had everything we needed. The perfect stay while in Charleston!

We loved all the space in the house, the cleanliness, and the very well stocked kitchen. Lots of wonderful restaurants within walking distance, walk to the free downtown shuttle. I'd stay here again if it wasn't for the horrendous cross country trip to get there! ALso loved having the little park across the street. Would recommend to friends.

We rented this property for a bachelorette party with 7 girls and had a great stay. James was incredibly friendly and even let us extend our check out time because we had flights to catch later in the day. The house was adorable and everything was very clean. I would highly recommend this house for larger groups. My only suggestion is to add a floor length mirror upstairs.

Trip to Charleston was a much needed vacation! We toured around, visited Fort Sumter and overall enjoyed ourselves. My husband & I were here with another couple and this was the perfect place for us! Having a beautiful home to return to was wonderful. Clean and so very comfortable. We loved sitting out on the porch. Beds were very comfy. James was a fantastic host.

We enjoyed our stay very much, the location was perfect for getting downtown it's just a quick five minute Uber ride. Walkable to some great breakfast spots and terrific restaurants. Highly recommend staying at this location, also highly recommend visiting Harold's cabin, Melfi's's, and Leon's if you're in that area. Look forward to another visit someday soon. My girlfriends and I we're celebrating a big mile stone birthday and enjoyed ourselves immensely! Host James was easy to get in touch with and we and we appreciated his quick response when we reached out for just some quick questions/concerns. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home.

A group of friends and I stayed in this house this spring, and the experience was amazing. The neighborhood is really unique and cool, with historic houses and great restaurants that are all walkable. Plenty of space in the house to spread out. The kitchen is one of the best I've ever seen in a rental house. Host is incredibly accommodating, responsive, and helpful with recommendations. Would highly recommend this house for groups of friends or families looking to have an authentic Charleston experience.

Cool historic home.

My family (all adults) converged on Charleston from various places around the country. We needed a place that offered "nooks and crannies" so that people could break off from the group for quiet chats or solo time. The side porch, the sitting area near the primary suite, and the utterly HUGE kitchen--in addition to the comfy living room--worked perfectly for us. Across the street is a charming park with a central fountain and interesting plants, many of which were blooming at Thanksgiving. The park, too, became a space for more memory-making and conversation. The neighborhood is architecturally significant and very quiet at night. We enjoyed watching the "dog parade" of humans and their pets; the area seems safe as well. The heart of downtown Charleston is an easy 25-minute walk, and just minutes by car. James is the perfect host. He communicated clearly and downright joyfully. And when my husband caused the disposal to back up (butternut squash peelings), James came over on *Thanksgiving Day morning* to address the problem! Turns out, he's from an old Charleston family and justifiably proud of his city. We could have chatted with him all day but sent him on his way to enjoy his holiday. The kitchen is well-equipped and large enough for three or four people to work in. Beds were firm and comfy; everything was clean. Check-in a breeze! We're already thinking of booking for next year.

We really enjoyed staying at The The Lord Ashley. James was always prompt with info and suggestions. The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this property.

From the date of booking through the end of our stay, our host James was welcoming and there to answer any questions (as well as offer plenty of recommendations) to help maximize our experience in Charleston. Three couples travelled from New England to celebrate my wife's birthday (as well as Halloween) and the Lord Ashley did not disappoint. The house itself was a lower floor open concept with plenty of space for everyone, and the bedrooms were all comfortably sized. The porch facing the small neighborhood park (be sure to check out the illuminated central fountain at night) was where we spent most of our time, with a swing seat along with comfortable chairs to lounge. TAKE ADVANTAGE of the two beach cruiser bikes in the garage, as we rode the quick two blocks north to experience Hampton Park (just like a City of London park) as well as the nearby Citadel to see the campus (on Fridays they have an all-student Citadel Parade – very impressive). The neighborhood and surrounding area is very quiet – almost no car traffic – so you can bike right in the streets. Be sure to check out two locals within walking distance. Harold’s Cabin is a cozy apres-ski type restaurant/bar with great food and drink selections (co-owned by Bill Murray!), and Daps is a great breakfast spot for outdoor noshing any morning. James sent us more of his local favorites from the peninsula, and getting there is either a healthy walk or short Uber ride away – we did not rent a car and did not see the need to. James was also in the area and stopped by to say hello and give the bike tires a pump while we were on site. I would definitely stay at the Lord Ashley again on a future trip to Holy City.

We had the best time staying at the Lord Ashley property in Charleston for a wedding this past weekend. Everyone had the best time and the location was awesome. James was incredibly accommodating and responsive with everything we needed/asked! I will definitely stay at this property again if I am back in Charleston with a large group.

House was dead perfect for our family of 6. Exceptionally well appointed, many thoughtful details and great living space flow. James has a terrific sense of style. Easy access to 17 for trips to Mt Pleasant where our other son and his Family live. We will definitely return! Thank you James.

This trip was for a group of 8 female friends. Everyone loved the house and the kitchen and porch was our favorite. There was plenty of dinnerware for us. The home is spacious and was a great fit for us. The only problems that we came across was that the house was not stocked well with toilet tissue and paper towels as we ran out the evening before our checkout. I did call about it but did not get a call back. Also, a late checkout was approved when I booked but on the day of checkout, we was rushed because new guest where scheduled to check-in that day.

Mother daughter trip for my girls sweet 16. The house was so close to everything. We walked to several places close, spent a day in Sullivan’s island. The house is huge! The girls enjoyed their separate suite downstairs. Lots of seperate places for all ages!! A trip to never forget!!

Great stay great communication with homeowner really enjoyed our time the area was beautiful quiet and safe really look forward to going back when we can.

Lovely stay in Charleston with my wife, mother & two daughters. House was a perfect fit with great people watching as there is a park across the street. Close proximity to all the attractions in Charleston . Amenities were wonderful as was James, our host. Hopefully can revise after Covid passes so more restaurants etc. will be open.

The location was great and the house was a great fit for our 8 family members plus a newborn. The neighborhood was relaxing while being close to services. The owner was accessible accommodating. We’d rate it s as a one of our best stays despite 5 inches of rain!

This place is impeccably done. From the kitchen to the bedrooms, it is a perfect combination of original 100+ year old details and modern. The front porch is a treasure. The owner was absolutely incredible to work with. He was exceptionally responsive and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

This house was everything it claimed to be. It was the perfect place for our family to reunite and have an amazing weekend in Charleston. We loved having our morning coffee on the beautiful porch overlooking Allan Park. The house was very clean and had absolutely everything you would need. An abundance of towels, dishes, paper products, etc. James was a pleasure to work with. We would definitely recommend this to our friends and would stay here again.

This adorable old style Charleston house has been remodeled and has all of the modern comforts. Just an easy Uber ride to the market and king street as well! Cute back courtyard and a park with fountain across the street. Best part was the owner didn’t ask us to pretty much do all of the housekeeping for them before we left like some places do.

We stayed at this property for a girls weekend! Our original vrbo cancelled on us 2 hours prior to check in but James came to the rescue to save us! He was extremely positive, helpful, and responsive. The house was BEAUTIFUL! It has everything you could want & more! The kitchen was insane!! I would definitely recommend cooking at least a couple meals there! Beds were super comfy! Everything was clean and super cute! The porch was my personal favorite! I would definitely stay here again!!
