Our family enjoyed staying at this villa. Everything was perfect and so organized; breakfast, staffs, rooms, local tours, yoga, massage, etc. It was more than what we expected. We didn't have to worry about what we were going to do next, because of the manager, Komang, was there all the time. Komang is very responsible manager and always on time. He knows and explains the culture of Indonesia so clearly that our family learned alot from it. Villa was so comfortable, manager knew our needs, and mostly, delicious breakfast every moring especially fresh juice. We will definitely re-visit this place! There is no place like this villa. It's like our home! I miss all the staffs. They are so welcoming and sincere. Hope many people may experience what I experienced from this trip. I would recommend this villa to anyone coming to Ubud. Once again, thank you Komang and all the staffs for providing our family such a memorable environment!

We had an amazing stay at the villa!! I came with my family of six people and it was the perfect place to stay. The villa itself is gorgeous, lush, and peaceful. You truly get the Ubud vibe while there with 5 star accommodations. The best part of the stay however was the staff which are truly the most friendly, accommodating people I have ever met. They went above and beyond to take care of my family and every need was met. The staff would anticipate something we might need or want and it would be there. The breakfast every morning was absolutely amazing. Komang, the house manager, helped us arrange any activities we wanted to do, drove us wherever we needed to go and a few days was a tour guide for us. He made everything easy and seamless. My aunt even wanted wine one night and he went out to purchase it for her. My family has done quite a bit of traveling and they all agree that this was one of the nicest places they have ever stayed. I would recommend this villa to anyone coming to Ubud. Thank you Komang and staff for and EXCELLENT stay!!!

I was in Bali with my husband and our three sons for ten nights. We stayed for five nights in Alam Bulan and then moved to Nusa Dua. Once we were in Nusa Dua, we pined for the beauty and serenity of Alam Bulan. The villa had everything we needed and also everything that we wanted. The staff was appropriately attentive, somehow always being there when I wanted tea, while also giving us privacy. The breakfast was always a treat--we had only Indonesian food which is delicious. Mr. Komong made sure every detail was taken care of and he made it all effortless. And the villa was comfy and spacious and luxurious. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We have been to Bali many times and this place is special. We will return.

Perfection. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the beauty of the villa and its surroundings. It felt like heaven on earth and the Alam Bulan villa team provided an incomparable level of service. They were extremely attentive to our every needs and they surpassed all our expectations. Everything about this 10 day holiday near Ubud Bali was exceptional. The house, pool and furnishings are incredibly beautiful and comfortable. What was most important was the care that the staff provided us. Every one of our needs were taken care of. The house manager, Komang Puriana took us daily to see the sights of Bali...museums, shops, galleries, rice fields and most importantly the surrounding temples. His knowledge of customs, traditions and history is unprecedented. We really felt we experienced the people and customs of the Balinese people. We have travelled extensively and this trip affected me most profoundly.

Do not hesitate to book a stay at this magnificent home. The design and decor are exquisite and the caring staff make your stay so memorable. You will feel instantly at home the moment you arrive and you will probably shed a tear when you leave - it really does have that affect on you. We have visited Bali previously but chose to stay in 5-star resorts both in Ubud and also at Jimbaran. For this trip we wanted something special and to be immersed in Balinese culture away from tourists. By picking this villa we were able to enjoy local village surroundings, meet people on our street and get to truly understand the Balinese way of life which sometimes can not be experienced from the confines of a luxury 5-star resort. For this one week booking we were a party of four: me, my brother and our respective spouses. Taking a villa this large for only 4 persons is the right thing to do if you desire additional space and luxury features. However Alam Bulan can easily accommodate 8 persons. The thoughtful design offers tremendous separation of space allowing each guest privacy and a grand living room where we could all meet and socialize. The villa excels at each turn whether it be the dramatic living room which opens to a large swimming pool, the sounds of the jungle or the separate sala where we would have private yoga classes. Purely magical is a descriptor that comes to mind when recalling our time on Bali. Puriana, the villa manager, was the consummate host who made suggestions for things to see and experience during our stay. He toured us through some wonderful places on the island and we felt we had experienced Bali in a special way. One evening at the villa we had a traditional Balinese event 'come to us'. How amazing is that? Puriana arranged for local dancers and musicians to come and perform and it was a pleasure to meet these lovely people and experience the entertainment. Twenty musicians and approximately ten dancers entertained us while a specially invited chef and his team prepared a sumptuous traditional dinner which we enjoyed in the Sala away from the main house. Candles, lanterns and flowers were everywhere. It will be a night we remember for always. It felt good to support the local community and we highly recommend you doing the same when you stay here. The cost of this evening is well worth it and may we suggest you make a donation to the local community as part of your experience. They will certainly appreciate it.

Just returned from a remarkable adventure in Bali. We were fortunate to select Alum Bulan as our home for our 30 day stay. After a 30 hour trip from the USA we were met at the airport by Komang, the villa manager, whose genuine welcoming manner made us feel right at home from the start. Even though it was late at night, the entire staff greeted us upon our arrival at the villa with a traditional welcome drink and made sure we were comfortable after our tiring journey. The villa is magnificent, beautifully designed, immaculate, and comfortable for relaxing and entertaining and a welcome home to return to after a day of sightseeing or shopping. The gardens are beautifully designed also and cared for daily, with fresh flowers throughout the villa. Komang, the villa manager, was always there to help us with any sightseeing, shopping, reservations or anything we needed for the entire stay. His knowledge and love of the Balinese life and culture is incredible. You will have no better tour guide. He will arrange tours, shopping excursions, reservations or entertainment in the villa. Breakfasts are wonderful. The chefs are happy to prepare Balinese specialties or menus to suit your preferences. We thought the fruit selections were incredible, many of which we had never eaten before. The entire staff is cheerfully accommodating. They are always anxious to please. We hope to return to Bali some day, and we will definitely stay at the Villa Alum Bulan.

Yes, you want this villa. Even though the pictures are great, they don't capture how truly stunning this place is. It's a five star experience. The villa is secluded in the jungle (yet a short 10-15 minutes from Ubud central), and every aspect of the design of the place is extremely sophisticated and first class. Puriana and the staff are incredible - there was nothing we wanted for, and they were ready to assist us with our own plans or to recommend ideas and organize any and all the details for us. Whether you want to see the cultural sites, find the best shopping, do outdoors-y stuff or see real, local Bali (all of which we did during our too-short 6 days), Puriana really is the man for the job. The only problem is motivating to leave the luxury of the villa!

It is hard to explain how beautiful and peaceful this piece of paradise is. Not just the architecture and furnishings of the villa, but the thoughtful care the house staff provides is second to none. Puriana is exceptional with his knowledge of Bali and really listened to understand what we wanted for our experience in Ubud. The highlight of our 15 day trip was spent with Puriana, who arranged for a tour of his village, painting lessons and silver making classes for my family and our friends. Puriana and the Alam Butan family took amazing care of us and I think of them often. I stayed at Alam Bulan villa for a week with my boyfriend in August 2016 and our experience was absolutely magical. The villa is beautifully decorated and spotless. The garden is very well maintained and stunning. Such a peaceful place! All the members of staff gave us a warm welcome upon arrival at the villa and the villa manager, Komang Puriana, went out of his way to meet all of our demands throughout our stay at the villa. He was also a fantastic guide providing us with interesting cultural/historical information about Bali while driving us around Ubud and the area. Komang also helped me organise a surprise birthday event for my boyfriend and arranged for local dancers and musicians to perfom for us directly at the villa. He also arranged a beautiful candlelit birthday dinner + delicious birthday cake in the Alam Bulan garden for my boyfriend and I and was very good at keeping the surprise a secret until the very last minute! He even lit up 100 candles around the garden for the occasion and spread petals around the dinner table. The attention to details was really heartwarming. My boyfriend and I were both very moved by how Komang and his staff put so many efforts and thoughts into organising this event. I can only highly recommend the Alam Bulan family and this hidden gem! Everything about the villa is exquisite—gorgeous decorative details everywhere! It was so nice to stay in a place where everything was new and up-to-date and aesthetically pleasing. The owner and decorators have definitely succeeded in achieving the perfect blend of modern and clean with traditional Balinese. I can't imagine a better place to stay in the Ubud area. Comfortable beds, inviting pool, plenty of space, a dedicated sacred space for yoga or meditation, enormous well-appointed bathrooms and closets . . . I could go on and on! As a huge added bonus, the villa manager and guide, Puriana, was the best host we could've asked for. I especially appreciated his thoughtful explanations of the Balinese Hindu culture and belief system. He and the rest of the staff were eager to accommodate our every desire. I'm so glad we chose this villa!

The Villa Alam Bulan is a scenic jewel box of delight tucked away in a lush jungle setting in Ubud, Bali. We were greeted in Denpasar by the very friendly and knowledgeable driver Komang Puriana, who welcomed us with beautiful frangipani necklaces and refreshing jasmine-scented towels. After a long flight from San Francisco to our honeymoon destination in Bali, this was exactly what us newlyweds needed to start our two week adventure! When we arrived at the Villa we were overwhelmed by the elegant decor and the friendliness of the staff, who were waiting for us with open arms and two tall glasses of refreshing ginger welcome punch. What a beautiful, tranquil place! Villa Alam Bulan was the perfect choice for our honeymoon: romantic, private and luxurious, but unpretentious. The location was perfect- just a short drive from the town and many temples, cultural sites and artisan shops. Every morning we were served luscious exotic fruit and the excursions were fantastic. Most days the only tough part was how to tear ourselves away from the infinity pool and the calm, meditative atmosphere. This was a deeply serene and loving environment. Thank you so much!

Certainly you get a visual from previous reviews. Lush,gorgeously landscaped, cool carvings everywhere. Plus an amazing staff, headed by Priana,who seriously could make your every wish come true. I like adventures, so enjoyed rafting, climbing My. Batur, biking to waterfalls & exploring the local world class masks & puppets museum. The grounds alone are worth the trip. Silver making classes were great, as was having the village gamelan troupe to the Villa. So much to do, never enough time. I will certainly return to be spoiled again @ Alam Bulan. It is also such a chill place to hang & do nothing. I was thrilled daily with the beauty of it all.

I arrived at Alam Bulan Villa to meet 3 girlfriends from across America for a girlfriends getaway. We all came with different needs and expectations all of us were thrilled our time there. I will most definitely return. After a long flight, arriving at the villa was incredibly warm and inviting. The gardens and landscaping are breathtaking in their lush beauty. The infinity pool was a perfect first step to renew and refresh. The staff were full of smiles and were consistently nurturing and accommodating. Puriana, the concierge, had picked me up at the airport and he was full of information about the culture and places to see in Bali.He was always ready to help us with arranging the many activities we all wished for! This service alone added so much to our stay! I cannot begin to describe the open and inviting feeling I had in every part of the villa. It really exceeded any expectations I had. There were spaces for tranquility and privacy as well as spaces to enjoy each other's company surrounded by exotic beauty. The local artistic furnishings helped to remind me that I really was in another land. From this lovely place I was able to explore Bali as well as recharge and renew my spirit. Our stay at Alam Bulan Villa was magical. We stayed here in August with two families of four (four adults and four children ranging from 10 to 15 years). To start, we were were warmly greeted by the five staff of the villa. They gave us frangipani necklaces and cold ginger tea. Then, we were toured around the impeccable retreat. You walk into the extremely spacious kitchen and living area, which overlooks a beautiful vanishing edge pool. Then there were two bedrooms with double beds, and two bathrooms. All of this was gorgeously decorated, of course. Then there is the first master bedroom, surrounded by glass. It also has it’s own giant bathroom with an incredible tub and shower. The tubs had a beautiful array of flower petals floating on the surface. As if all this wasn’t impressive enough, you walked down stairs to a pool bathroom, lovely tropical garden, outdoor yoga hut, and, yes, another bedroom. This second master bedroom was the most secluded. It, too, was beautiful and had a large tub in the bathroom. The configuration was perfect for our two families, with two children in each of the double bedrooms. The whole house in fact was fit for a royal family, and we felt like one from the minute we entered. It was modern Balinese style, and very tastefully decorated. We spent our days lazing around the pool, going to the local markets, and trying the delicious Balinese food. Also, the villa included a lovely concierge/guide (Puriana), who spoke excellent English. He was extremely kind, and full of helpful tips. The staff were always there for us, bringing us drinks, food, and basically anything we needed. We didn’t expect any of this, and it was just another amazing bonus. All of us left the villa eager to return. I highly recommend booking this magnificent villa. It’s the best place we have ever stayed anywhere in the world.
