large clean rooms. Breakfast was enjoyable.
no access to the river Wye. Roast dinner was over cooked.

Easy reception and nice meal. clean tidy room. Quiet. Easy parking.
Bed collapsed in the night too late for me to bother the staff . Slept on mattress on the floor. Cheap bed but common in several hotels in UK.
3.0
Close to my Daugther and grand children
No daily room service.

Staff very helpful.
TV reception was poor

Location is nice and the seating outside
Room needs a bit of TLC, paintwork scuffed and chipped , mould in the shower cubicle and chipped enamel. A spring in the mattress was gone and girlfriend couldn't get to sleep. Breakfast lacking quality. Stayed before with no issues at two thirds of the price, disappointed.

We revisited this 4 years on for our wedding anniversary again and we love it just as much as the first time.
The staff were lovely. They couldn't do enough for you and so friendly.
The Inn itself is very clean through out and welcoming and also animal friendly.
The chalets are very clean and comfortable. The only thing I'd suggest is that it would benefit from a mini fridge and blackout curtains (very bright in summer months) the TV signal isn't great but we didn't really watch TV.
The breakfast is nice, service from the waiting/bar staff was outstanding. My only criticism is that it was very slow service from the kitchen staff. Both days we went down early and it was only us/very quiet but it did take 30-40mins for breakfast to come.
The evening food was good. I just found that unless you are into burgers the menu is a little limited (for us anyway) it would be nice to see some traditional classics or specials. The cheesy chips and nachos were very nice to snack on.
Drink selection is good and fair on price :)
The Play Bus for children is amazing! Keeps them entertained and is only £2.50 for 1 hour. It's great that you can sit and enjoy a drink and chat whilst being reassured they are in sight, safe and having fun. Lots of outdoor benches to sit at when weather is good.
Nearby I'd recommend:
- walk down the river at symonds yat (very nice walk) they also do a boat trip
- butterfly zoo, maze and mini golf - great if you have children and fun for adults too
- king arthurs cave
- Newbridge farm - great for children
- Goodrich Castle - lovely to walk around and do have some activities on for children. Cheap if you hold a English heritage membership.
- The Hen and Dot tea room/cafe - beautiful scenery and tasty treats, brunch and snacks. About 5 minute to walk from the Inn too. The stilton and walnut scone is lovely. Great selection of cakes.
There was nothing really that we didn't like my only comments if I were to be very picky would be...
- mini fridge and blackout curtains for chalet.
- some more traditional/special options for menu ad opposed to burgers
- a little slow for breakfast to come out
Other than that I cannot fault :) would happily stay again.

Location, food, beer, staff
Bedroom: Lovely 4 poster but mish mash run down furniture, decor very tired.
Very noisy, doors slamming, walls like paper could hear every word from next room
One sleep out of three

BREAKFAST GOOD CHOICE.FRIENDLY STAFF.
STEPS INSIDE HOTEL FROM CARPARK WERE VERY DANDEROUS.
TOO STEEP FOR ELDERLY PEOPLE.
WE WALKED AROUND TO THE FRONT DOOR TO GET INTO THE BAR.

great location clean room good menu breakfast and evening
we were in an outside room ;very good but too many steps for us down into the bar Part of the design and able to use car to drive round to front level so not a real problem ,won't effect us returning

Accommodation was fine, just what we were expecting. Would have liked to know about the road closure, all the signs were saying business open as usual, not knowing where the hotel was compared to the road closure, we had a very disgruntled local saying we shouldn't be at the closure. The detour was not good for a small sports car.
The evening meal we were asked if we could change from 7pm to 6.30 as it was going to be busy. Well we arrived at 6.30 given a menu and served our drinks. There were about 8 other people in at the same time. At about 7 they took our order, we both ordered a starter and main although there was no chicken dishes or salads available. The starter arrived at 7.45. We then had another 45 minutes to wait for the mains, mine which was pasta which was cool. A couple walked out without having a meal. Another 3 people arrived after us, but all left before we had even received our mains. Apparently there was only one chef on.

Most things were fine.
Gammon steak was just appalling and suited a cobblers rather than a restaurant.
2.5
Location, although the bridge next to it was closed, so had to do a 3 mile detour
The room was in need of a bit of TLC. Food was a big problem. My husband asked for mushy peas with his fish and chips. They sent garden peas, these were changed, but my whole meal had to go back, the chicken was cold and so dried up, I couldn't get the knife through it. Really disappointed.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The outsize terrace is very good, able to accomodate a lot of people.
The hotel is in need of redecoration. The shower unit was tight.

Thought the chalet was fabulous, very clean, good welcome tray, TV, Hair dryer etc... The birds did wake me up early in the morning, but it was ok, I was in their habitat.
I thought the restaurant staff could have been more social. The restaurant in the evening lacked atmosphere. I booked online and paid, but then I had to pay again when I checked in. The manager was very understanding and I was rein-burst for the second payment. Feel the evening meal lack the customer service.

location , staff
cold in room , tiny beds , tatty room , noises from kitchen (presumingExtraction fans). door in corridor kept slamming shut … expensive for small dog for one night .. dinner overpriced… gammon extremely salty

Lovely, well kept property. Warm room, clean, with comfy bed. Food in the restaurant was good, both dinner and breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.

Location was not good for us. Bar manager was miserable no social skills at all, and the seating area in the bar was horrendous , no comfort at all to relax. Sunday evening stopped serving food at 7pm so had to drive out of our way to get a bar meal. Will not stay here again.

The staff are fabulous and helpful ,except one
The guy that was behind the bar and serving meals on sunday dinnertime who simply seemed that he didn't want to be there , we waited a long while to be served and had to remind him to serve dessert [the ice cream had started to melt]
Breakfast was good but personally i didnt like the bacon cooked on a skillet and 3 out of 5 poached eggs were hard.
For us both the mattresses were too soft.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, food was good and drink was good too
Food was quite expensive., we stayed in the family suite, the bathroom could do with being updated, basin had a crack in it, shower had marks on it.

Breakfast was excellent - freshly cooked and good variety.
I could not think of anything that I didn’t lile

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice.
The name of the place is a bit misleading. Yes, it's near the Wye, but nearer to a busy road and you can't even see the Wye from the hotel. The place is a bit tired and the menu is less than inspiring but the room rate is modest. I try not to be harsh these days as goodness knows what owners have been through with Covid and how much money they have lost plus now facing heavy overheads.

gorgeous venue. really nicely decorated, clean and friendly. staff were nice and friendly but perhaps a few lacked a teeny bit of professionalism (maybe it’s because we’ve spent years in hospitality and we’re a bit picky - but in all due respect they were all friendly).
the room (chalet) was a basic but clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. we’d absolutely return!!!
food prices were a bit high for what we actually
got.
mushroom stroganoff lacked the main ingredient of mushrooms and had more onions than a French onion soup. bread with starter was stale and butter frozen solid. no salmon but had Hake substitute which for £20 I thought was quite pricey. Everything was nice but didn’t reflect the cost. we spent just over £70 on food for the two of us and came out feeling a little disappointed. such a lavish establishment with what seems average food and higher end prices, breakfast however was lovely.

Food was good. We had an evening meal in the restaurant. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
