Excellent welcome. Staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. Hotel was excellent. The premises could use a little refreshing (rose garden, golf area).

The staff, without exception, wants to make a guest happy.
The food is not the "cliched" 5 / 7 star bland, tasteless affair.
Small gestures, too many to mention separately, go a long way.
I suppose it has not been asked to your staff before, but I wanted to know the type of mutton that is served at your hotel. I was told that it is "HALAL" mutton. On asking if there is a choice to have non-halal mutton, I was told that the supply is local and verified to be of top quality, BUT ONLY HALAL. Well, it is expected to be of top quality at Taj. But, if some guests are told that the mutton is not halal, they will refuse to partake it - living in Bharat you are aware of it.
However, the choice of non-halal meat should be there to respect the sentiments and choices of the rest of us. This forcing of a particular type is not right. This comment is neither a criticism nor a communal / religious fanaticism. Merely a question of not thrusting something on the guest.
Having said this, the food was excellent.

Dont know where to start. the property itself is an oasis….in the middle of chaos. you can experience varanasi and it’s craziness and come to the palace to immediately have a zen state.
The staff is beyond words that can describe. Ganesh has passion in running the place and it shows. But then it shows in the door man who ran to be at the ghat to ask if I want a seat for the aart, mind you that is after I checked out. He just cared.
the chef, butler, front desk (he actually used his app to call me an Ola and gave me his mobile nbr in case i needed something) everybody were par excellence.
if you think you know what it is be royal think again and experience it here. they will welcome you with a conch, garland and some excellent drinks and snacks. the farewell was even better. a gift, and all of the lined up with folder handed hands biding you farewell. I have not experienced that at home.
if you are here in varanasi, do experience it. you can say it is pricey, but when you have dinner in their pool side table and the live music plays next to you, you will know it is worth it.
everything was exquisite. yes it is far from main ghats, you can’t book it and then complain. come prepared to take a cab…the least of the issues.

I have suffered from Herpes zoster after coming back from hotel. Now I am cured. I will suggest some treatment to linen and towel with ultraviolet rays. Hotel stay was very pleasant.
