Unser Aufenthalt war rundum perfekt: sehr herzliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber, die viele wertvolle Ausflugstipps gaben, ein großes liebevoll eingerichtetes Appartment mit toller Terrasse (trotz der zentralen Lage fühlt man sich dank des Blicks auf Garten und Fluss mitten im Grünen). Das Frühstück war auch super. Mehrere gute Restaurants nur wenige Minuten Fußweg entfernt. Wenn wir mal wieder nach Oudtshoorn kommen sollten, dann auf jeden Fall wieder hierher.

Nothing - it was great

Wir haben bei Albert und Elza zwei Nächte verbracht und die Zeit absolut genossen. Es begann schon mit einer fürstlichen Begrüßung, rum Führung und smalltalk. Die Lodge ist sowohl drinnen als auch draußen mit viel Liebe und Geschmack ausgestattet. Das Frühstück ist auch sehr umfangreich, kunstvoll präsentiert und wird vom Elza persönlich serviert. Als gute Nacht Gruß wird eine Flasche Wasser und Pralinen an die Zimmertür gestellt. Es verlieh dem ganzen sehr gemütliche , heimelige Atmosphäre.Die Restaurantempfehlung von Albert waren Goldwert, auf jeden Fall Nostalgie besuchen, da wird alles mit Ostrich serviert, sowohl geschmacklich als auch Service top!!!

Die Riverside Guest Lodge ist außergewöhnlich, obwohl die meisten Gäste auf der Durchreise nur eine Nacht bleiben, strahlt das Haus ein immense Freundlichkeit aus und bietet liebevolle Details an jeder Ecke. Sei es der Sherry im Zimmer, mit den Süßigkeiten oder ein fantastisch dargereichtes Frühstücksbuffet oder eine beschattete Terrasse mit kleinem Pool und einer Bar auf Vertrauensbasis, die keine Wünsche offen lässt. Zudem grenzt das bestens gepflegte Grundstück an einen kleinen Flußlauf und läd zur Vogelbeobachtung ein. So war auch der Empfang und die Betreuung und das Frühstück mit eigenem Frühstücksmenue fantastisch. Der i-Punkt war dann noch ein handgewaschenes Auto, das uns zur Abreise erwartete.

Wenn man etwas finden will, dann dass die Zimmer eher klein sind und selbst keinen besonderen Ausblick ermöglichen.

De ligging is heel mooi. Albert en Elza regelen alles perfect met heel veel oog voor detail. We waren hier vier dagen en dat was geweldig. Het ontbijt is ook buitengewoon en deels bediend aan tafel. De regio is prachtig en heerlijk rustig.

Pool is too small to swim in but allows you to cool down when overheating! This is just to give a true picture and is NOT intended as a criticism of the property.

Eine Unterkunft zum Wohlfühlen und mit Charme. Die Einrichtung ist sehr geschmackvoll und mit Liebe gestaltet ,und wir wurden herzlich von den beiden Gastgebern empfangen. Das Zimmer hatte sehr viel Charme und war sehr gut ausgestattet. Der Blick von der Terrasse aus ist einmalig.

Nix, nur eine Nacht war zu kurz.

The room was large and well equipped. There was even a brand new ceiling fan installed as an alternative to the aircon when power is switched over to the generator. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and provided a good breakfast in the morning - including ostrich if you wanted it.

There was a small issue with the electricity - however the owners contacted their electrician as soon as we informed them.

Riverside Lodge is a perfect blend of relaxed elegance and the extra touches provided for its guests are a delight. Albert and Elza could not have been more welcoming and we wished that we could have stayed longer - next time for sure.

Nothing - we couldn't have been happier with our choice.

An overnight stop, quickly checked in after arriving at 4pm onto the beautiful sunny deck, soon with a cold beer in hand (honestly bar) and sank into the plunge pool within moments of arriving. Deck (overlooking gardens and river) sunshine finished with sunset and we had good meal nearby. Excellent breakfast next day, again on sunny deck, visited the Outshoorne Museum and on our way to CT. Lots of reasons to spend longer here but we had to move on. Engaging hosts have all local info, fantastic directions about how to arrive, very professional. Rooms are very comfortable. We even had our car cleaned in their little (secure) car parking space. Nice touches with water provided and sweets in room.

Wat n ongelooflike gastehuis. Die aandag aan klein details, soos koue water voor jou kamerdeur vir aand, laat jou baie welkom en versorgd voel. Geen moeite is ontsien om vir Hein n ontbytpakkie voor te berei sodat hy kon eet voor die Attekwas nie. Ons sal defnitief weer daar oorbly as ons in Oudtshoorn is.

Heel leuk ingerichte grote cottage met prachtig uitzicht. Goede zorgen van de gastvrouw en gastheer.

Super nette Gastgeber, tolles Haus, tolles Zimmer. Ein Traum von einem Garten und leckeres Frühstück. Wir haben es sehr genossen.

Heel fijn verblijf in Oudtshoorn. Kamer met airco was groot genoeg. Grote badkamer aanwezig. Vriendelijk ontvangen door de eigenaren. De gastvrouw gaf nog tips voor de omgeving. De gastheer gaf een korte rondleiding. Tijdens ons verblijf was het erg heet. Het zwembadje was dan ook zeker welkom voor verkoeling. Restaurants zijn op loopafstand. Bij het verblijf maken ze gebruik van een honesty bar. Erg fijn om nog een drankje te kunnen drinken bij terugkomst. Ruime keuze voor wat betreft het ontbijt.

Tip: probeer te reserveren mocht je echt graag naar een bepaald restaurant willen gaan. Tijdens ons verblijf was lang niet overal plaats.

Our hosts Elza and Albert were very friendly and accommodating. The Riverside Guest Lodge is a perfect place with nice panoramic views – especially from the little cottages towards the old suspension bridge. Our lovely cottage with a spacy balcony and a cosy fireplace was neat and very well equipped. The Riverside Guest Lodge is situated in a great safe neighbourhood with close proximity to many sightseeings, shops, restaurants and nature attractions (by car). Each morning we were pampered with tasty breakfasts. The numerous recommendations and MUST SEES - to visit a nearby Ostrich farm, the famous Cango Caves, Swartberg Pass, Prince Albert, Weltevrede Fig & Guest Farm, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Meiringspoort Waterfall and also joining a meerkat adventure - were so special and exciting. What a great unexpected service to get our car washed by a Riverside Guest Lodge staff member in the early morning - especially after our dusty Swartberg Pass trip - thanks! We loved our stay and definitely would like to return asap. Everything was brilliant. Lodge is so big and well thought out. The view across the small stream. Enormous fire place with a ready to light tower of logs. The couple who own the place are great and very helpful with the local attractions and things to see.

We absolutely loved EVERYTHING about Riverside Guest Lodge. Owner's Albert and Elza are the best hosts. This Guest Lodge is definitely the gem in Oudtshoorn. They've got style, and the ambiance of the venue is spectacular. The food is prepared freshly and very tasty. Will DEFINITELY recommend them to all our friends and family. This will be our future "home" when we visit Oudtshoorn again !!!

A dream of a lodge and probably our best stay during our tour. A cozy place with caring hosts Elza & Albert who have an eye for even the smallest details. They love what they do and you can feel it. Best breakfast choices and a nice bar with a good selection of local Gins (and others). Albert is even flying a small flag in the bar with the national colours of his guests homeland.

The only thing to complain: our stay was far too short and we hated it to leave

A beautiful designed cabin in a special house , super equipped, lots of thought in the small details, unique welcome gestures from host, nice comfortable balcony overlooking the river, fireplace and fleece blankets for the cold weather and much more.. Albert was a helpful host giving us good recommendations on area and restaurant. Breakfast had a various selection. We warmly recommend !

Take into account it’s quite a drive from garden route, but worth it!
