Very friendly owner and staff.
Dietary restrictions(vegan) were greatly accommodated.
Helped us warm up the food we brought with us.

Short walk to the Geibikei Gorge. The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and warm. Some of the facilities seem quite old, but the bathroom and toilet appeared to be recently renovated. Loved our stay!

A very rural feeling and environment. Close proximity to Geibi Gorge. Piece and quiet. Good restaurant nearby

Very nice ryokan style room, nice toilet and room decoration. Staffs are really nice.
The rooms are a little bit too cold during the winter.

We loved the traditional Japanese ryokan style where we slept on futon in a tatami room. The food was delicious and included amazing sashimi at every dinner. The staff made great efforts to also make Japanese meals that my five-year-old son would eat and enjoy. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The surroundings are extremely beautiful with the caves and Gebikei Gorge worth a visit. There are also other nice things to see like the castle and pokemon train (you need to book this in advance as it is small and busy). Having some Japanese language is very useful, but everyone also spoke English to us which we appreciated so much. Thank you!
Visitors should be aware that the trains aren't very regular to the town so to be careful to plan. Around New Year some places (like restaurants) are closed so take care to plan if there is something you want to visit.

10mins walk from Geibikei JR. Quiet corner of the street. 10mins go Geibikei Gorge boat ride area.
In all, I would think not worth staying in Geibikei area, not much to see apart from the Gorge, which u can do a one day trip.
Bit old and small, Unstructured furnitures here and there.

We booked two rooms… a twin and a triple for our family of 5. We chose half board to include breakfast and dinner for our stay. This was based off the reviews saying that dinner was a “must do”. The Japanese dinner was amazing! (Note: if you book “children” in your booking, the people under 18 receive a different meal to the adults- see picture). And the staff were super friendly. The Japanese breakfast with a side of sausages and scrambled eggs was great too. As it was my husbands birthday, I had previously enquired about a small cake for breakfast. The hotel was able to fulfil this request (a little bit extra ¥). The rooms were spacious and comfortable. A deep bath and shower room with seperate toilet and an extra seating area at the back of the room.
Everything was great! My only complaint was that the triple room had a definite smell of cigarette smoke. I did specifically book two non-smoking rooms. My teenage kids said they were fine with the smell, so we didn’t complain or request a room change. The twin room was fine.

The Chef, he was so kind. he could speak English and he designed vegetarian meals for me as requested during the busy period of Jew year.
nothing!

Breakfast was great, traditional Japanese style which I like. Westerners may not appreciate the food. Staff very helpful. Furnishings are dated but clean. No musty odors. Quiet, did not hear other guests too much. Full bath with toiletries. Nice sized refrigerator for snacks. Convenient for Geibeki Gorge tour and relaxing in a quiet town.
Early morning jingle at 0600 was not appreciated. Futon on floor was uncomfortable for me but I could have added another but was too lazy. A bit far from things and restaurants in area were mostly closed, not sure if due to Covid or not. Not much to do and 30min drive from Ichinoseki. Local train service is not frequent. Best to have a car.

I loved the location near Geibiki gorge. The room was nice and large, very comfortable. Free parking, walking distance to everything! Geibiki is a really nice town and people are very nice.
The facilities were a little old.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this place. The aesthetic of a Japanese ryokan was great. The room was beautiful and spacious, there was all the amenities including a full bathtub ready when I came. The staff was kind and helpful. I loved the design and decorations of the room. It was raining outside and I could also hear the river nearby, which was very nice. There were tourist pamphlets and a book in English in my room, which I enjoyed looking through.
Really no complaints. It wasn’t particularly soundproof, so I could hear footsteps of other people and other noises in the building easily, but they didn’t bother me. Great experience.

The staffs are very polite and nice.
It’s close to geibikei george.
Nice during snowy seasons.
The futon a bit thin and the pillow a bit hard.

The food, especially the dinner was AWESOME!! In fact it was the best kaiseki dinner we ever had in a Japanese Ryokan. Everyone who stays in the ryokan SHOULD choose the option with dinner, you won't be dissapointed!
The room was quite cold in the winter. apparently the heater was not enough for the room.

Traditional house, a nice experience.
The breakfast is great!!
The waitress there is a nice talkative girl.
Not much!
We arrive at night time, and it s a bit to find the way.
