This beach is quiet, great for romance and couple time. I had an ocean view room but being on the first floor behind all the lounge chairs and all, it wasn't very private to enjoy the view in the evening. I requested a balcony but was told it wasn't held for me. the beds do not face the window so in order to appreciate the ocean view room I suppose you would just stand at the window. The room was very disappointing. This used to be a Hilton double tree but now its Bonoy Marriott which of course I expected better from a Marriott.
The service was not great. When I arrived, I told reception upon checking in that I was feeling motion sickness still from the ferry and long car ride to this hotel and I requested ice. She said it would be sent to my room. A bit later I saw a staff member and I again requested the ice he said it was on the way, I saw him again and again he said it was on the way. Can you imagine, I never got the ice! Its better if you have to request anything more than once in a hotel, that staff member take accountability and get it. We also requested a blanket which never came but luckily the room wasn't too cold. The rooms were unattractive, nothing interesting or unique at all. The location is remote considering the other spots on the beach.
This hotel was the most expensive of the 4 I stayed at during my trip and for the price - it was the most disappointing. I would not stay here again. The breakfast was pleasant.

It is a beautiful resort, ideally located on Nugwi Beach, where the waters are clean and turquoise. The buffet also offered a reasonably good variety. The option to go to Fisherman restaurant was also a nice touch. It is a few minutes' ride to the place where one can swim with Turtles.
Finding our room clean after breakfast was great, but we had to wait for some time for fresh towels.
Outside excursions are a bit pricy if you, like us, visiting from African countries because most of the target market is the Western world, and they are priced highly in USD.

The staff are lovely, the grounds immaculate and over all concept is ok.
The hotel fell short on expectations based on the rating, cost and over all accommodation. There is no beach that is acceptable on the property with thick seaweed and wall separating the property (we stayed 10 days and spent most of our days at Kendwa beach forcing us to take transportation to and from just for the beach experience), the rooms are quite shabby, sewerage smells are very prominent in some rooms and the food lacked variety. The wifi was a constant battle and the hotel often suffered frequent blackouts. I can understand people passing by trying to sell tours and boat trips but the spa staff at the hotel were so incredibly pushy trying to sell massages that it made staying at the pool quite uncomfortable.

Struttura molto accogliente, staff attendo ai minimi dettagli e molto cordiale. Cucina ottima e sempre diversa.

Alles was geweldig!

Proximity to the beach
Food was ok. Had stomach ache on several occasions and bathroom had lots of broken bits. Considering it was the queen room I was a bit disappointed.

The location of the property was great. The receiving area , communal areas and facilities were as advertised and lovely.
Nightclub next door to property so noisy if in beach front north side of property.
The rooms were appalling, infact unfit for to be inhabited with leaking roof. We had 4 rooms and one had water leaking from ceiling and lost power for the night. Very unsafe!

It was a lovely hotel and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Good location and facilities.
We had gone with half-board option and felt that the food served at the breakfast and lunch buffets were average and lacked local dishes.

Dobre ryby, ośmiornice i owoce morza.
W końcu to Egzotyka !

The staff was amazing! Particularly, Devota M. and Finath H. They took excellent care of me. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, attentive and accommodating. I stayed at Nungwi for 6 nights and 7 days and I felt like family!
The food was very good. The entertainment was very good. Walking on the beach and talking with locals was so much fun. I enjoyed my time here...will definitely be back!
The roads to the hotel are terrible. But I don't blame the hotel for that. That's my only negative.

Perfekt beliggenhet, nydelig Strand og omgivelser. Maten var god. Rent og pent. Hyggelig personale.

Service was amazing. Especially the staff in the restaurant. They were really helpful and friendly and made my 1 year old feel special.
We weren't happy with the shower head and contacted reception who had somebody fix it within minutes which was impressive. The food was great. The location was very good.
I was accidentally given an alcoholic drink from the pool bar despite saying multiple times I wanted a mocktail and without alcohol. Was quite disappointed as I had made sure to stress without alcohol.

My brother and me spent 5 days in Nungwi beach resort by Turaco
This was my second time at this hotel, I really enjoyed my time on the first visit, this is why I decided to come a second time.
I say happily that the only change, I met , was that the food was much better and had more variety.
The hotel is located in the middle of probably ,the nicest beach in Zanzibar. Tourquis water, fishermen boats taken like from a picture, white sand, and palm trees.
The people at the hotel are always very kind and helpful, doing everything with a smile on their face. Rooms are very comfortable and very clean.
I took a second time the all-inclusive deal, I think it is worth it. One can drink as much cocktails as he wants, can choose between Pizza or Hamburger at the pool or a buffet for lunch and a good dinner buffet.
The Alcoholic cocktails, which I mentioned, are of a real high level. I don’t know if it is because of the fresh tropical fruits or the bartenders, who prepare them. I have been to some fensi hotels, like Hyatt in Cancun, but for my taste they are not coming to this level.
While there, ask Benson, maybe the best bartender I met, to prepare a Pinacolada or Mango Daciri, he is a real professional.
Thanks also to Lea, who always does her best, so we can feel like in a home.
I recommend this hotel to anybody, who is going to make a holiday in Zanzibar.

Location right on beach. Inviting reception area. We stayed in one of the bungalows and rom was well-sized and clean. Enough sunbeds and beach/pool towels included. Pool bar, beach bar, coffee shop, gym and onsite spa available. Good and healthy breakfast options. Buffet dinner with new selections every day on a 7-day rotation. Quality and selection was good. Biggest plus is smiling and friendly staff throughout the resort.
The area surrounding the hotel is not inviting you to a walk.

Location and staff
Showers didn’t work properly, roof was leaking and the mosquito nets had holes in them so they were pointless

The location is overall decent - it doesn’t have quite the perfect sand of up the beach near the Z hotel or Smiles, but it is still very nice and is within easy walking distance if that stretch (which is also where a lot of restaurants are).
Facilities were good - decent adult pool, beach bar and pool bar were nice, and the fisherman’s restaurant is very good.
Some of the staff were great as well, particularly the pool staff
Service level isn’t what I would expect from a Marriott. The check in staff are pretty abrupt, and were at first telling me I have to put a plastic bracelet on my 2 year old for 1 week duration so they know she is from this resort. They were also very rude when my father in law ( who was staying in a next door hotel) came around to meet us and spend some time at the beach. Given it is one person and a close relative, I don’t think it was necessary to give him the Spanish Inquisition and tell him he couldn’t come on-site except visiting the one external restaurant. We would have happily paid a day fee or whatever which is what most hotels do but it wasn’t offered.
On a different note the children’s play pool is very slippery and the swings could do with replacing

The staff is very friendly, they are all good people and try to do their best. Bathroom is okay.
The way through the village was terrifying, the hotel is old, smells strange, they try to renovate it but not successful for now, it was noisy because of constructions. beach is horrible, very dirty, they do not clean it - shoes, bags, clothes, you can see anything. Food is not good at all, everyday the same 3-4 dishes…. Do not deserves its money, way expensive than it should be. Many mosquitos.

only employees were concerned and polite
The location is very bad, there is no swimming on the beach, there are fishing boats and everywhere is covered with moss, there is a bad smell rooms are not bad, but there is no hygiene, everything in the kitchen is dirty plates, glasses. We bought an all-inclusive package, but there is a different menu, we can't eat and drink everything we want. They asked for extra money, because our flight was late on the last day, we wanted to leave the hotel late. After 12, they asked for money for everything.

People were lovely - accommodating, kind and helpful, especially when I got sick. Live music bands were excellent! Buffet food selection was great but beware of anything washed in water (produce) vs cooked. Room was large and comfortable. Unfortunately bathroom had a openings that ants infiltrated.
Though perfect for sunsets location is far from airport and Stone Town. The beach is gorgeous but shared with all who cross it so lounging directly on the beach is not possible - there’s an elevated patio with sun chairs that helps. My sandals were stolen off the beach while I swam in ocean. I got sick from from food one day - but it was unavoidable.

Nice hotel with front view with welcoming staff at reception
Staff were not available for drinks and the entertainment wasn't great.
The food was not tasty at all with very limited choice and no sea food!
Also there is no room service after 10.30pm which is a bummer when you are on vacation.

Friendly staff and exceptional service if something needed to be fixed or changed in the room. The barmen (Raphael, Pascal and Immannual ) were very entertaining and made the rest of our stay one to remember. Leah and Given were so caring when we needed muscle cream and always made sure we were happy. Overall great hotel and staff but not very flexible to accommodate guests.
Some of the food made a few guests sick, but that's to be expected if you're from different countries.
They have too many rules for a Zanzibar hotel. I have my own shisha and I wasn't allowed to smoke it at the bar. I could only smoke in the shisha lounge and I had to pay to use my own shisha. They wanted to confiscate my shisha because I kept questioning the reason why this rule was implemented and I didn't get a valid answer.. The rest of the island you can smoke anywhere and not pay a cent. I told them they won't get it because I take it with me when I go to other bars on the island and it's my property. So my first day was not a good experience at all and it set the scene for the rest of our holiday as I felt like a criminal for being a difficult customer. Needless to say I obeyed the rules, of course. I understand that hotels have to have rules but some rules are ridiculous and some rules are there so that they can make more money from guests that are all inclusive. It would've been nice if all the rules were posted on their website before I booked and paid. The rule didn't even mention that you have to pay to smoke your own shisha. Would have been nice to know because I went to the shisha lounge to smoke my shisha (obeying rules) and again a manager approaches me to say I have to pay, you can imagine my attitude. To top it all off, the shisha lounge is part of a restaurant that is not part of all inclusive so I had to order and pay for drinks there. I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. You aren't allowed to take a glass of juice from the breakfast area to your room, that's so bazaar. You can only swim until 7pm, it should be 9pm at least, or even 8pm as people are on holiday and not in a prison. It felt as if we were being controlled and on an island like Zanzibar it should be hakuna matata. That being said this was our 3rd visit to Zanzibar and we won't do an all inclusive hotel again.

The food selection throughout the buffets was fantastic and they have an a la carte restaurant on the beach front too. The drinks were great and the facilities at this hotel for the idyllic Zanzibar holiday are phenomenal especially for the value to price ratio. The hotel itself was excellent to the point we saw daily maintenance in the form of touching up paint, gardening, landscaping, cleaning the pool. People said in the previous reviews that it’s “tired” but these travellers in my opinion are expecting too much. This is Africa, Hajuna Matata 🙌🏽
There physically wasn't anything about the hotel that we felt we didn’t like.
