Such great value for money! Right on the water. Kayaks to rent. Amazing staff who will go out of their way to help. Rooms are basic but wouldn’t expect much more for the price.
Nothing!

This place exceeded all my expectations! The location on the beach is magical, you can wake up to the lake & watch amazing sunsets. The staff are wonderful too they cooked up a meal for me one night even though the kitchen was closed & upgraded me to a better room because they had some spare & they speak English. Perfect if you want to escape the busy inland places like Granada, San Juan Del Sur or Rivas for a few days.
All good

we loved the staff, the guy that owns it is super friendly and helpful!!!
no access unless you have a moto bike

Great staff that came to pick me up with scooter when I was lost in the dark when arriving, and fantastic view for the sunset!

Very rough road to get in

good view althought at night you can watch the windmills blinking red on the horizon.not the nature you might look for
our booking was not safed or processed right somehow, bad communication from the beginning on a bit confused. so we were moved to the bigger room which was nice in the beginning but kitchen smell pretty strong and kitchen seems not clean.only very cold shower and leaking water in the bathroom. a young guy working there listening loud to youtube videos or playing shooter on his phone and other guest sat right infront of pur cabin, so no real privacy. and women are Washing clothes with Bleach right infront of the facility so i felt not good in going into that water.

I stayed in los chocoyos for more than a week because I kept on extending my stay. This hostel is such a special place and was a real comfort zone in the middle of nature paradise with warm hearted, kind, helpful and open people all around. I appreciated everybody who worked there so much, i would love to come back. Location is amazing, directly at the water, you can rent out kayaks and do tours. The food is delicious and very affordable. The atmosphere is very tranquil and invites for a good time out and relaxing. You have the great opportunity to get to know the nica culture better through the people living around and working there, it's a community feeling.

Amazing location on the water, and I was the only one staying there so had the run of the place. Beautiful sunsets.
Not the fault of the hotel but the roads in that area are pretty hairy (i.e. muddy, rocky, and more guidelines than roads) so be careful if you plan to moped there in the dark (or in the day for that matter, especially if there has been rain recently).

Super nice simple place off the beaten track. Wonderful location right at the beach. Very nice and helpful staff (only little English). Kayak and bike rental. Tasty food for good value. Waterfall near by. Tours and transportation can be organised. Quite remote so better rent a scooter. The better value for this one is near the ferry but it's available here, too.
4.5
Nice secluded location right on the lake, very kind and helpful staff, bicycle rental, room with nice view.
Just have in mind it is a rustic place. The kitchen is also the “restaurant”, so not sure if you can use it as guest. Maybe not the best for solo travelers.

On the beach
Location is bad
No kitchen
Room was small without a floor
Toilet and shower far from the room

-staff was super nice and helpful!!
-the location was awesome just in front of the hostel was the lake
-the atmosphere was so nice it felt like between friends.
The kitchen could be better equipped and a bit cleaner but it was enough for cooking
3.5
Close to the water. I could use the fridge and the kitchen as I had leftovers. People are nice. Quiet place.
Very simple food, not many choices when you don't eat meat. Hard to access in transportation (last bus around 2 pm). I was in a cabin with a friend and the house is open between the roof and the walls so when it's windy, you get colder and you feel the wind in the cabin. Just a very small table for 2 beds to put your stuff and nothing in the bathroom to hold your towel or toothbrush/etc

Personal is very nice and welcoming
Very nice view on the lake, beautiful sunsets
Drinkable water available but not for free
Far from the arbour, 2 hours in chicken bus from there.
Very rudimentary place

It is a little paradise! First we planned to stay only for 2 nights but we ended up staying 6😁 everything is simple and good (beds, food, place in general). You don’t need to worry about anything here. Owners are helpful and just lovely🥰 Best sunset spot as well.
We had a hard time leaving.

Amazing location at the lake with great sun sets. The rooms are clean and right for the price. The staff is incredibly helpful and can get you anything you need for your stay on Omotepe. Would recommend 2/3 nights to visit all the hotspots on the Island.
Rooms can be slightly small if you have a lot of baggage. You should be okay with shared bathrooms that are simple but effective. Rental of a scooter/ motorcycle/ ATV is recommended from this location.

Would go there again! very chill place with very chill people. the staff is such friendly and welcoming. the room was quite small but for this price it‘s nothing to complain about.
the food is also very delicious!

The room is right front of the water. Dinner they serve is very nice. Also there is kayak rental on a fair price. They also rent bicycle. The waterfall is not far and can see the beautiful sunset from here.
This is not what "i liked and didn't like" but good to know that to reach this place if you rent a motorbike is a 4 km dirt road. You will need a bike not a scooter. Also the direct road leading up to it is in very bad condition.
The room gets humid and wet clothes will not dry, not even outside, only if it's on the direct sun. There are no shops or restaurants nearby. It is a quiet location.
The room would need a shelf, we felt we didn't have enough space to put our stuff. There is a hole between the roof and walls and mosquitoes and bugs can come in. The mosquito net above the bed has holes, and the bugs can make their way inside. There are multiple wasps nest around the bathroom and terrace ceiling.

Our stay at chocoyos was perfect and very relaxing! Nestor and his family are wonderful, very helpful and sweet. We are traveling as a couple and took the chicken bus (easy and cheap to arrive and depart the area-5 min walk to their place on the water). Merida is not super touristic which we loved, small community with no fancy restaurants but safe and friendly vibes. We took the room with private bath and view of the water. How amazing it was to listen to the waves as you sleep, watch a new sunset every evening, relax in the hammocks and cool off in the lake (a few feet from our room). Everything we needed, Nestor was willing to help. We rented a kayak for the day to explore the river from him and he can help with transport and motorbike to see the island. We loved being able to cook for ourselves and buy local products very close. His family member has a restaurant with coconut ice cream (restaurant de guia) perfect for a break after visiting the amazing waterfall. Don't hesitate, very kind family with everything you need to relax and fall in love with nicaragua!

The location directly at the lake shore is superb. Food was always tasty and the owners kind. You can eat mangoes directly from the trees there in the season and they taste incredible.
A bit simple and just too many mosquitoes - bring repellant. No real food options around but they prepare nice things at the hostel. They don't accept cards although they say on booking.com that they do so bring plenty of cash.

This place is beautifully located and run by the sweetest and most helpful family. Local children and families visit this place all the time and creates life and energy. Watching the beautiful sunset from a chair right on the edge of the lake with the sound of children playing in the background, couldn’t be better

Hospitality , perfect location and good food
Showers could be a little bit better and romms for 4 person are a little bit too small
4.6
I stayed in the deluxe room with private bathroom and it was perfect for this tiny village stay. Directly in front of the water, kayaks available for exploration and gorgeous sunsets! The menu is not extensive but you have all the basics and everything was delicious!
