Lady who met us upon arrival was brilliant! They had our room ready early, explained the full facility layout and made us feel extremely welcome. The value for money is everything you could want if you are out every single day on excursions. I love that we could get additional towels, toilet rolls or pillows ourselves. The phone by the front door gets you a taxi within 5 or so minutes (at any time). The breakfast was basic, but everything you could need/want and was always fresh. Hótel was always clean, warm and bright. 40 minute walk to the boat docks and 25-30 minute walk to most pick up locations for days out. Detailed map available to take away for key attractions around town. 24/7 free self service coffee machine including hot chocolate for those non caffeine drinkers makes coming back to after a long day a dream!

Breakfast in my opinion should start earlier considering a lot of excursions/pick up locations involved some short travel in the morning. I would like to enjoy a full breakfast without having to leave before the bulk of the food is brought out.

The rooms were too small.

Excellent breakfast choices. Staff helped solve a problem, although we had no cold water to shower for first day. Good location in terms of ease of getting to various sites. Clean room. Ample electrical outlets for charging electronics.

Limited parking. Had to park across street in shopping area at times. TINY room. All rooms with twin beds face an interior parking lot where trucks load up at 7 a.m. (If you didn’t need a twin room, make sure you don’t face the interior lot. Much quieter.) No air conditioning, and it was rather warm when we were there. Self check-in hotel—which only works it you get the message ahead of time about your code to let you in…which I didn’t. Not their fault though, as I did not have internet for a few days. Stinky water in bathroom. (Sulfur smell.)

Iceland is of-course expensive. We thought that for the same amount of money we payed we could get a much more luxurious stay in another country. But this hotel was fine and served our needs for a few days. Basic but comfortable.

The informality of Muli Hotel is both a significant benefit as well as basis for issues that can transform a routine stay into requiring work that is not desired during a vacation stay. The benefits for our stay included the opportunity to check in early, which we lucked into and was so appreciated after international flight and enormous hassles getting out of Keflavík. The opportunity for tea and coffee at any time of the day is great. The opportunity to sit in lobby/kitchen at a table was great. The hotel was quiet and the space nice. Not exactly walking distance from top of Laugavegur but a very short car ride.

The parking situation at the hotel if you arrive by car is not ideal. There is free parking around the property and on the street and for most of our stay we found a spot without much difficulty. However, on one return to the hotel all the spaces that are shown on a little drawing in the lobby on where to park were taken. We searched around for a spot that we hoped would be okay, but were not sure. Turned out to be okay with no ticketing in the morning. But with no one around in this self-service hotel, it was an unnecessary hassle. In a similar vein, we had the misfortune of a fuse going out for the room and perhaps a nearby room. So we had no electricity in the room. This precipitated several calls and emails to make contact with someone who might be able to direct us to a solution. Again, a hassle on vacation and no one immediately available for a solution. Eventually an email directed us to the fuse box and we were able to restore electrical service to the room. You should know what to expect if you book here and if these minor annoyances wouldn’t both you, Muli Hotel might be the perfect place to stay.

The communication was consistently easy and quick. We needed to stay an extra night due to our flight being cancelled and Teresa was able to accommodate our family of 8 on short notice. The self checkin process is simple. The hotel has a lot of charm. My 19 and 20 year old kids enjoyed the common space a lot. The games and puzzles for common sharing was fun for our family. Having a spot to grab extra towels.or pillows was nice. The luggage storage was a great asset for us. We stayed 3 nights next door at Hotel Island for triple the price. I wish we would have looked at Hotel Muli more closely before booking. It is clean and comfortable for a great price.

Sort of weird to have zero front desk staff interaction but everyone was nice via the app. Parking details could be a bit better laid out on the website so you can find it initially.

the water smelled pretty bad, but as I understand that is due to the geothermal source an unavoidable . the room was very basic.

The room was clean and comfortable for two, and the commons areas were well maintained. The coffee machines and vending machine were good to have. We also loved the facts about Iceland posted on the walls near the stairways!

The *only* issue we had is that the shower did not keep cool water for long. After a while, the water was almost too hot to bear, regardless of the position of the temperature control.

Room was on -1 floor!!! My little view from the room was on the cars wheels.... Not value for the price!!! Ventilation in toilet didn't worked!! Room isn't soundproof!! Frontdoor isn't soundproof and secure!!
