Nothing to dislike

Stayed one night here. Lovely period building in very good condition. Warm and cosy. Comfortable room (room 6 at rear of property) with great modern en-suite shower room. Booked a table for evening meal, very well presented and great service from friendly staff. Excellent cooked breakfast offerings. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted.

We were in the “cosy double” which was an attractively furnished room, with what looked like a recently decorated en-suite, and was in immaculate condition. The lady who greeted us, and later looked after us for dinner, was very friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. Even though the pub was full with diners, service was excellent, and the food enjoyable. A nice touch was a little fridge outside the bedrooms, containing small bottles of fresh milk, so we could make tea and coffee in our room, avoiding the use of long-life sachets. The choice of cooked breakfasts was very good, and well cooked.

Staff were very friendly and helpful with local information. Room ( 4 ) extremely comfortable and clean. Coffee and tea facilities in room excellent. Breakfast menu extensive and very enjoyable Highly recommended

Breakfast was lovely. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was very good. I had the haddock and chips which was lovely and my other half had the burger which he said was also very good. The sticky toffee pudding was excellent!

It was very cosy- when we arrived the log burners were lit, candles on the tables and fairy lights. Coming in from a wet and windy November day that was very inviting We received a warm welcome and quick check in. The bed was so comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud ☁️

Nothing to dislike, but we only had coffee in our room and it would have been nice to have a selection of teas.

Room was cozy and homey, staff/owners were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and breakfasts were exceptional, as we could order whatever we liked from the breakfast menu, which was then freshly cooked. I selected eggs Florentine each morning and was delighted with the quality.

I'm stumped...

A really lovely place to stay! Cozy room with comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, great food, very friendly staff! Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Excellent breakfast also a fine evening meal. Staff were professional and welcoming. The bathroom was well equipped with very stylish bath and separate shower. The village musicians had a jaming session in one of the pub rooms, tuneful and just completed the atmosphere..

Lovely room and bathroom especially. Good dinner, lovely location 10 mins from motorway but in another world.

I wanted to have a stop on the drive to Cornwall, this was perfect as it is super close to the M5 but also feels so peaceful and calm! The room was lovely and spacious and the breakfast was amazing too! The car park isn’t huge however there is enough space for the guests! I am very envious of the Thursday pizza night!

The only negative is hearing creaky floors from other people around you however it is an older building so I can’t complain. They do not serve food on Sunday evening and Monday all day which is useful to know - you can still get a drink!

Very welcoming, very clean and excellent location for cricket in Taunton. Fabulous breakfasts!

We found the mattress in room 3 somewhat sagging and noisy (possibly needs replacing?) however the room facilities and en suite were excellent.
