have stayed here before about six years ago like the location staff are helpful very friendly rooms cleaned daily fresh towels could not fault it last week we stayed for 4 days the service again was exellent if we come back to york hopefully we will stay here

The location was excellent.Breakfast was lovely and the staff were really friendly.Parking was £10 which was reasonable.
Room was lovely, the bed a little springy for us. There was quite a lot of noise but we were aware of this.

Had an absolutely beautiful stay at the Bay Horse Carrie was so lovely and friendly telling us about Happy hour and recommending places to drink etc.. The room was very spacious spotlessly clean the bathroom was a lovely size. We also met a lovely girl behind the bar ( so sorry don't know her name) she recommended places eat drink etc. Just overall a lovely stay with such helpful staff so friendly We are looking forward to returning I left my phone charger and they responded straight away to return as soon as thank you for that.Thank you again.

Really friendly welcoming staff. Short walk into the town centre, fantastic breakfast and comfortable bed. Had a wonderful relaxing stay.

ideally situated for a stay in York .. lovely beer garden at the back . some road noise at front of hotel which we expected given its situation .. lovely friendly and helpful landlady

The breakfast is to amazing, when thy say a full English it really is a full English, plenty of food, well cooked and delicious. The location is ideal with the train station and City Centre within a stones throw away. rooms are clean and comfortable with good presentation and host was very pleasant.
Nothing to complain or be disgruntled about. Yes as other reviews have said you can here some news outside on the road and street but this is hard to be avoided in York with the beautiful listed buildings that out-way this.

Hosts are very friendly. Good location for all attractions. Breakfast was plentiful.
The building is old with sash windows. Noise from the passing traffic all night. Admitted I am a light sleeper and forgot to take my ear plugs.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was nice and location very convenient for both the centre and the train station. Great value for money and would visit again. It was loud until about 11.30 but we expected this anyway and got to sleep soon after!

Excellent stay - really comfortable and spacious room. There was no breakfast available while we were there but there is a Sainsburys directly across the street with lots of breakfast options to bring back to the room. Great location for exploring York!

Friendly check in. Room reasonable size, clean and nicely refurbished. Comfortable bed and everything you would want in a hotel room. Nice touches such as full length mirror in the wardrobe. Bathroom decent size and good water pressure in the simple to operate shower. Good freshly cooked breakfast
The only problem is that old buildings like this one nearly always have squeaky floor boards that can be heard from the next room and the hall.

Lovely clean room, fantastic breakfast staff were all so friendly and accommodating, pub is quiet so no noise issues and in a great location nice 10 min walk to the shambles. We would definitely stay again , thank you to Lorna and all her staff xx

I bought my Mum for a Mothers Day treat. All the staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was gorgeous!
Little bit noisy at night but it was expected with it being a weekend and York.

Very friendly and relaxed. Refurbishment works were being carried out but that didn’t distract from how pleasant we thought it was

Looks very dismal from the outside.

Rooms very warm and clean although again could benefit from a bit of a makeover, particularly the bathroom where the grout/sealant was dirty looking.

Very comfortable room with a big bed and a lovely bath.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. An amazing vegan breakfast was provided for us. This was our second stay here and we will definitly be back.

If it wasn’t quiz night, would have been acceptable.
Noise from quiz night was unbearable!!! Went on to 11:30pm. Staff should really warn guests about this upon booking. For everyone’s information, it was a Thursday. Noise from outside was crazy! As if there were no windows. Room cold but an additional heater was provided.
