Mala atención en la cena. Cena noche 1: Estuve esperando 25 minutos Atención y cuándo le pedí a una niña que me atendiera, en tono de reto me dice que es por orden de llegada. Y habían atendido otras mesas antes. Cena noche 2: pedí un ceviche y en vez de pimiento morron picaron ají rocoto.

We stayed here first time before our San Pedro de Atacama trip, everything was fine.

This is the second time we stayed at this property, the first time was fine. But this time the bathroom was leaking and it had a strong urine and awful smell. We didn't bother telling the hotel as we only stayed one night.

We always like IBIS hotels, we felt very comfortable and happy clean room and convenient location.

We booked a room with extra bed, but hotel staff seems uncooperative in giving us the room we booked, not sure why.

The rate at check in was higher than the quoted price when booked online.

A large mart was nearby. The space was small but tidy. The blankets and pillows were comfortable.

We arrived before 3pm and check-in was not done in the order we arrived, so the person who came later than us was checked-in first. It makes noise every time I move in bed.

Within walking distance of the bus station. Quite helpful staff, some of whom spoke some English. A clean, modern, well-equipped room. Good air conditioning. An excellent supermarket very close by!

Payment had to be made in US dollars or by credit card - no cash or debit card. Rather complicated procedure for getting WiFi in the Ibis hotel (unlike in the Ibis Budget hotel next door).

There was no information on where to go for dinner, I.e restaurant as, no mapas available of the town. Took too long to check in, only one computer available at reception. Staff friendly enough, however not knowledgeable enough on tourism.

IBIS Calama is generell a good option. Rooms are very clean with comfortable beds and nice shower with hot water. The location is okay and it's walkable from/to the bus terminal and the center with restaurant and markets.

But i had a disappointing experience with the reception staff upon my arrival. I arrived at 6.30pm after a 12 hour bus ride from Bolivia. I had already booked in advance via my booking.com app. I am Genuis Level 3 and for the last 5 years i always made my bookings with my debit MasterCard. But upon my arrival, IBIS refused to accept my debit MasterCard. And I was told if I paid with Chilean pesos there would be an additional 19% tax! The only way to avoid the tax would be to pay cash in US dollars. So what really annoys me is the fact that debit cards are not accepted and the wrong interpretation of the tax law by the reception staff! Bcs it actually says there: "Based on local tax laws, all Chilean citizens and resident foreigners must pay an additional fee (IVA) of 19%." But a resident foreigner is "any person who lives in any foreign country for an uninterrupted period that includes an entire tax year". So this does not apply to my situation as an foreign tourist! All this led to a discussion with the reception staff. I'm German and traveling in Latin America for almost two years, so my Spanish is basic but not good enough to have a discussion about tax laws. So when I asked the front reception staff to please switch to English, they couldn't. Well, that's actually very sad for a company like IBIS, which operates worldwide. The least I can ask for is that the staff at the reception desk speak English! Well luckily i had some US Dollars in cash and could save to pay the tax. !!!Important things like no acceptance of debit cards should communicated in advance and not just upon arrival and the reception staff should interpret the tax laws correctly!!!

the door was locked and they took an hour to open and leave me at the reception. and told it was not their responsibility. it’s maintenance problem, but i see that it is also their problem if it affects to the clients. so bad service
