We poked around Cape Breton using this place for home base. It is surrounded by a quiet meadow with spectacular views across the valley. In the mornings we woke to the distant sounds of farm animals. The walk down to the river is delightful. We will return.

This home was a great location in the Margaree. We were able to enjoy time with friends while being central to many fishing pools. The home was well equipped with outdoor furniture and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner for 8 (minus a dishwasher for clean up). With four bunks and two main bedrooms, and 2.5 baths, the group of 8 were very comfortable and well taken care of.
The only downside were the squirrels. They kept us up most of the night. They seemed to have found their way into the walls and ceiling/roof rafters. There was lots of evidence of their presence on the deck (eating rose hip buds) and they didn’t appear to mind humans.
We would definitely return, if the squirrels were no longer living in the home with us. Loved the location and the home. The pictures on line don’t do it justice; it’s even nicer than the pics.

Beautiful, private, close proximity to the Cabot Trail, golf, groceries, restaurants, a few museums. House with plenty of room for 6 adults, well stocked kitchen, good reading material, comfortable and attractive.

I don't know why you would stay anywhere else if you are coming to the area to fish or play golf. Unbelievable set up for me and three friends. 20 minute drive back down to Cabot for golf and fishing right on property. Fire pit was a great spot to relax after long days playing golf. Would be awesome spot for families to stay too. Just wish it wasn't so darn far away for me.

We figured from the descriptions and photos that this place would be beautiful, but it was way beyond our expectations. Our family of 5 was so happy and comfortable in this gorgeous perfectly equipped log cabin. Just note…the bedrooms are in separate cabins and you have to walk (only a few steps!) outside to get to the main kitchen / living room cabin. This was only an issue for our 7 year old who felt cut off from the rest of us at bed time.
The property is fantastic and the river is a lovely very short walk through the field. And the river is spectacular! It is shallow but flows very fast in places. Bring some floaties / PFDs as there are none at the house.
There is so much to see in the Margaree area. Dancing Goat just up the highway was a highlight meal and Egypt Falls and the Gysum Mine were our favourite day trips.
Would very happily return!!!

Very nice house with private rooms and fantastic view in the Margaree valley. We stayed comfortably for 7 nights. Our three daughters really enjoyed their time at the river not far from the house. Grand-parents came along and really enjoyed their time as well. They could sleep extra time while kids were playing board games in the living room. Not too far from the National Park and a 3 min ride from the grocery. I can’t recommend enough!

Lovely place to get away
We had a great time at Camp Arcadia. It is very cozy and the property is fantastic. The highlight was definitely watching the fog burn off and reveal the mountain in the morning. Would definitely stay there again.

Privacy and convenience were wonderful
My hubby and I, along with our dogs, enjoyed our days (and nights) at Camp Arcadia. We had 20 acres, so very private. Husband played golf at Inverness, we drove the Cabot Trail and went to the national park. Enjoyed the Salmon Museum and the lovely, informative lady who is in charge there. Even enjoyed that fact that there was no TV. We watched DVD's on our computer, read books and had plenty of time to talk to one another. Thanks for sharing your home.

Great for our family holiday!
Great location, the necessities are close by as well as a short drive to the coast/beaches, Chedicamp and Inverness. Great landing spot for our family at the end of each day with a beautiful view. I wish we were there longer!!

The property was a great location for exploring Cape Breton and very private and relaxing for a family trip. There was everything that we needed in the house although there is not a dishwasher as outlined in the listing. Overall great place to stay.

Outstanding
Excellent property to serve as your base for exploring Cape Breton. The layout is perfect for families; the bedrooms are completely separate from the common areas allowing for younger or older guests to easily go to sleep while others enjoy the property. The property was very well appointed with everything you need for a great family experience. Outstanding views of the mountains and direct access to river make it hard to match.

Ideal family getaway
Camp Arcadia was perfect for our family vacation. The house was immaculately clean, and fully stocked with all the necessities, including firewood (weather was pretty chilly in mid-May, even for hardy New Englanders). The CoOp store less than a mile away supplied all our food & beverage needs. The location was ideal for golf at Cabot Links, exploring Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and taking in the Acadian & Celtic culture in the area. Property manager was very responsive to questions and helpful. We loved our stay and hope to return!

A little slice of heaven! Acadia had all the comforts of home and very well designed.
Wonderful place to relax and yet close enough to modern conveniences and outdoor activities. Nice layout of home for privacy and the river was an added bonus. Watching stars and listening to the coyotes howling at night, tubing on the river, cooking in the well stocked kitchen, could go on and on about the activities close by. Absolutely wonderful!

Perfectly located
This is my second time staying at Arcadia and it is special. It was the last week of Salmon fishing so the location was perfect and the place has a charm situated in the middle of the Forks. Highly recommend even if to just recharge your batteries.

Best in Cape Breton wilderness
What a lovely cabin in the wilderness! Couldn't ask for better with nature's splendor all around. We loved everything about this property. The owner has it furnished very tastefully and it is very well stocked. Staying here and fishing in Margaree would an experience of a lifetime I can imagine. I am not in fishing but I would golf to compensate if go again

Rustic cottage with endless views, you won't want to leave!
There are no other words for it - we loved it here. Cape Breton Island is a nature lover's paradise. Rugged landscape, incredible national park(s). We saw bald eagles, pilot whales, a moose... In the backyard, the Margaree River flows; plenty of opportunities for fishing (we opted for a trout fishing licence, given the young age of the children). Camp Acadia has a wonderful atmosphere (and of course beautiful views from most rooms); for those who like to cook and eat well, the kitchen is well stocked with good pans and utensils. That was wonderful. Our only complaint actually, is that one week is nowhere close to long enough to discover all the island has to offer. We can recommend the hike to Egypt Falls, where we swam beneath the falls (at the lower and middle level, the water was so deep there that you had to really swim). We read many reviews emphasizing how steep the descent is, we walked it easily and without anyone stressing about it being too steep (and our youngest is 7). In short - we had a great time in and out of the house and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Great cottage for golfers
5 of us enjoyed Camp Arcadia to access both Cabot courses as well as a longer driving day to Higland Links. The cottage is extremely well appointed including pretty much everything you would want in the kitchen. Plenty of space to lounge and relax. Higly recommended!

Beautiful House on a Beautiful Piece of Land!
We absolutely loved staying here! The house is peaceful and sits on a gorgeous piece of land (which the living room area shows off beautifully with big windows on 3 sides). Would happily stay here again, and have already recommended to friends :)
